Guest Reviews
- Ian (7/5): If the lift access is improved and disabled parking made better, then we would possibly use again. - The food at all meals was very good. Good range of food and hot when required.
Staff were very good and helpful. Disabled parking had a very difficult road side step for access. Could have damaged the car. Also bus and coach loading area just in front of car parking making it difficult to exit. Needed to ask coach driver to move .
Hotel access to room floors very difficult as it was serviced by small old and very slow lifts. Getting my disabled wife from the lower ground entrance to the first floor took twenty mins trying to access a lift. Some areas of the public area looks tired, with damaged carpet and chair coverings. When I checked in, I was asked to pay £20 for two nights parking. I was told that if I had booked direct and not through Booking . Com the parking would have been free. Not a good thing to find when I arrived.
- Ellie (10/5): Perfect - It was absolutely amazing with lots to do. The entertainment was great. When we went the weather wasn’t great so the entertainment really helped make our stay good. Our room was lovely and clean plus all the staff were very welcoming and polite. The only thing I could fault was he creaky walkway to our rooms, I was on edge about keeping our neighbours up when we went back to our room.
- leigh (4/5): Disappointed - Breakfast was fine The hotel was far too busy
We couldn’t use any of the spa facilities as was always in use and the pools were always busy
Not fair as came for a spa day and night and couldn’t use the facilities 😞
- Claire (7/5): Great value for money - Great swimming pool, arcade, lovely and spacious Rooms need a little tlc, and toilets downstairs need more check ups and cleans
- Prust (10/5): Amazing break away - Amazing plafe to stay with plenty of activities and enterainment for the family. Will definitley be booking again!!

- Pamela (7/5): Location was great and nice to have the extra facilities but for us it was not value for money. I could book the premier - I was impressed by the size of the room and complex. It was pleasing as a family of five to have a bed each. The location was ideal. The pool and jacuzzi were great for my children. Arcade was enormous and great for the kids. Premises was very dated. Whilst clean, it could do with an upgrade. Full breakfast was too greasy. Stale smell in the restaurant. There were enough pillows in the room for one each with two in the cupboard. I don’t think this is sufficient and it took three calls to reception before extras were brought to our room.
- Jaymeen (5/5): -
- Steve (10/5): - Good location close to the beach close to town centre The lifts in the hotel, the room key cards did not work all the time
- mark (6/5): Dated hotel, but great location and family friendly. - Large hotel and family friendly. Lovely swimming pool, however outdoor pool closed and only open in the Summer ( we travelled in April ). A number of children activities. Breakfast decent quality but plenty of choice. Most staff friendly and hotel in an excellent position for the beach. Managed to get a car parking space, but very limited. Very dated decor. Almost all the hotel needs decorating and new carpets. Lifts are very old and one only opened half way. The breakfast room smelled fusty. The tennis facilities were at another hotel, then when we went around there were no nets up. From the state of the court it had not be used in several months. Pictures / Booking.com make it look better quality than it is!
- Emma (10/5): -
- Darren Lee (3/5): - The pool The room I had wasn’t the room I paid for with the extra room the staff moved us but still wasn’t what I paid for , the hotel staff where brilliant and gave us a free meal
- Kate (7/5): First time staying here as a family of four, with two teenagers. We were really pleased with the level of facilities and - This hotel had everything a family needed, it was really clean, the facilities were great, good food, and close enough to walk down into town easily. The evening entertainment was entertaining on multiple levels and a pleasant way to pass the evening. The property itself was a little tired.
- Nanak (1/5): - Very nosey and bed are not comfortable room are Very old styles you don't feel stay in hotel not powe socket near bed side Nothing like don't recommend this place

- Antony (9/5): Lovely weekend away - Lovely pool and spa facilities clean room friendly staff not far from the beach!
Just an all round nice place!
- Adam (10/5): - Fantastic service every time I come
Breakfast was amazing
Entertainment was great
Facilities were outstanding

- Tracey (10/5): -
- Suzanne (6/5): We had a good stay and will probably return but possibly will try one of the other TLH hotels. - We stayed at the Derwent. The pool and restaurant were really good. The staff in the restaurant were absolutely lovely. The hotel As a whole was satisfactory. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it. Front reception staff were not very helpful, quite indifferent. Access with a pushchair was challenging and reception staff did not offer any help whatsoever. Our bedroom was small even though it was supposed to be a family room. There was not enough room really, it felt quite squashed.
- Jake (8/5): - Facilities and swimming was perfect for the family Rooms need updating
- Ali (9/5): -
- Saif (3/5): -
- Debbie (8/5): -
- Tracy (7/5): Beautiful pool and spa - Food was beautiful and hot Bit of room up lift
- Sebastian (6/5): - Swimming pool Bathrooms need upgrade definetly. ,
- Steven (4/5): Was okay wouldn’t be staying there again due to these thing maybe if I was in a different room ! - The swimming facilities was good and some staff members where really nice and kind and helpful The beds where uncomfortable need to change mattress and due to that I couldn’t sleep very well at all and there was rubbish underneath my bed and the bathroom had a funny smell in it and due to this I had to leave a day early also in my room had no view and all I could here was generators all day and all night long and staff members outside my window all night smoking and yapping even with the window closed could here all of this
- Leanne (10/5): -
- Naheem (5/5): It was ok... not too great nor too bad. - Staff was really friendly and helpful. The distance to my room was really far... i struggled quite abit. Lots of stairs aswell. Was given a fan but because there was no air con it was really hot.
The sink taps in the room were really stiff... struggled with them.
- William (2/5): Not coming back - Location and parking Bed was horrifically hard, everything out of date and tired
- Susan (5/5): Ok for a short break and to use as a base - Breakfast was good plenty and freshly cooked
Location was good
Large indoor pool, Aztec spa facilities very nice relaxing and treatments good value and carried out professionally. Pictures were generic for all hotels in this chain, Hotel although clean was old and tired could do with TLC, one sofa in reception very worn and cushion split. Not very mobility friendly as narrow corridors to bedrooms and lots of stairs.
- Michal (3/5): -
- Helen (8/5): Nice hotel value for money and loved our pet seagull (Steve) - The seagull tapping on the window and the pool was fantastic Nothing
- Sini (7/5): -
- Cath (5/5): - The bars/facilities are good. The hotel was extremely extremely hot. Although there was a fan in the room it was 2 nights of very uncomfortable sleep.
- Terry (1/5): -
- sachin (1/5): -
- Lyn (5/5): Booked 4 nights but only managed 3 as we didn’t get any sleep - Pool, restaurant and entertainment Our room was located in a corridor next to a load of exchange students who were noisy every night , and was situated on the front of the hotel and windows were faulty so couldn’t close properly so noise from traffic was terrible, manager said if we had booked directly with the hotel they would of refunded us, complained to booking. Com but no reply will not book with them again ever
- Francesca (7/5): It was good - The stay was ok. I was next to the fire exit where the car park was. Very noisy and family orientated hotel. Too loud and busy for me
- Susan (7/5): Noise from road spoilt the stay and walking to far from room to get downstairs was a very long way w - Entertainment was good Asked for quiet room got noisest toom there, lustened traffic all night,no sleeplike being on a motorway! A long walk from room to lift. Husband parkingsons which I told the booking staff! So he was always exhausted. We were in toom 160 was way too far from lift! My poor husband didn’t get whst we asked for at all.
- Neelam (7/5): All in all the stay was good. We used lots of the facilties and - We liked the breakfast options. Food quality was ok but felt the food during dinner lacked flavour. Felt that the hotel cleaning service was inadequate. The bathroom floor was unmopped and the room floor was not hovered during the cleaning service on all 2 nights of our stay.
- Laura (5/5): - The pool, sauna and steam room facilities were a good addition to the holiday and were quite relaxing. Despite being told on 2 of the days the incorrect opening times by reception so by the time we arrived it was too late. Stayed for 3 nights, on the first night the bed was broken and so uncomfortable that we asked to be moved the following morning. We were moved to a different room, to only a few hours later, be told not to use the shower or bathing facilities as there was a leak from our bathroom into the room next door. Later that day we were told that we would need to shower in the other hotel room next door for that day until the leak was fixed the following day. The leak was fixed that following day after our 2nd night, but to be honest ruined our whole experience.
- Kudzai (10/5): We just stayed one night and enjoyed the breakfast and dinner - We really enjoyed our stay ,all the staffs were very helpful and the food was so delicious, the chefs are excellent 😋 Nothing, everything was OK
- Satpal (5/5): -
- Debbie (7/5): - Very lively brilliant atmosphere, the beds and pillows not to comfortable but other than that we had such a good time . There’s so much to do for the whole family
- matt (8/5): -
- matt (6/5): -
- Bashkim (9/5): Great experience would highly recommend - I was positively surprised how many facilities were available for us to use. Lots of attractions for adults and children. Nothing
- Oliver (7/5): Excellent customer service but improvements needed - I stayed in room 359 on Level 3 my name is Oliver I liked that the WiFi worked well and that I was given a twin room even though I paid for a double which was nice.
The selection of tea and coffee in the room was a lot, and there was eight power sockets in the room.
Also the room had a nice sea view
In the room you are given
6 Tetley tea bags
6 Nescafé sachets
8 milk pots
8 packets of sugar
2 white cups
1 spoon
1 Bronte chocolate orange chip biscuit thin
1 Bronte chocolate vinalla chip biscuit thin
The bathroom mirror was clean the room was clean In the rooms they use PG Tips as the tea, in the bristo downstairs they use Twinings and Clipper Tea, mybe introduce Twinings and Clipper tea to the rooms as well and remove PG Tips.
There was a blown seal on the windows and a hairline crack on the wall next to the radiator both showing signs of the room needing improvements.
One of the power sockets had USB ports on but they was USB A a now dated concept, mybe the hotel could replace with fast charging USB C 140 watt ports
- Ranald (7/5): - Leisure facilities good staff friendly Single room tiny especially bathroom. Breakfast starts at 8 which is tight if you are working. Be aware £10 per night carparking if booked through booking app. Free if direct apparently
- steven (7/5): hotel a little run down, needs a lick of paint, new carpets ect. -
- jordan (7/5): Great hotel, could do with modernising - Clean hotel, staff friendly and helpful.
Nice to have entertainment.
Enjoyed the pool. Room was far too hot, need updating, very old.
- Sarah (10/5): Fab - All of it To hot in room
- Emma (6/5): Ok stay but rooms very dated. - Good location Very dated rooms.
- Susan (5/5): - Unclear about where to sit at breakfast
- Michael (4/5): Could do with tidying up and concentrating on the shower areas and hopefully a bit more pressure in the water because yo - We liked the swimming pools and the hot tub All the parking the parking the cleanliness of the swimming pool was a bit dirty in areas. The rooms were very small.
- Karen (9/5): Good for families - Good location, child friendly Nothing
- Lauren (9/5): - Lovely property. Lots to do even if you didn’t go outside of the property Beds can be a little uncomfortable but it depends on what you’re used to. Our room also didn’t have any plugs close to the bed
- Scott (9/5): -
- Julie Brooks (9/5): -
- Simon (5/5): In a word….. tired - Good location close to our destination for the day we were there Very tired appearance, damage to virtually everything from use, some litter, chlorine smell from pools was everywhere and overall no charm or atmosphere.
- Stuart (8/5): - Staff were amazing, property is tired and needs work. But for a cheap place to stay you can’t fault it.
- Lucy (4/5): - The tv in my room did not work and the toilet had not been cleaned.
- rebecca (10/5): -
- masood (4/5): To expensive - To old i couldnt sleep i could ear other people and next door Have pool
- Joyce (8/5): Great except for beds - Stayed in twin room at The Derwent. Mattresses need throwing out. Full of old creaky springs. Not fit for purpose. Housekeeping fitted mattress toppers on request which made beds useable but not good.
Communal areas and pool lovely. Clean rooms.
- Batchelor (6/5): -
- Jill (9/5): -
- Dennis (8/5): - Feel you must review your fire evacuation procedures. I was on 3rd floor when alarm went off and must say there was no way I was able to exit via the stairs. The stairs from top to bottom were chic a bloc with very old people who could not get down the very steep and narrow stairs. Maybe all guests who have trouble using stairs should be allocated ground floor rooms.
- Simone (2/5): - A lot of noise from the corridor, next door rooms, and traffic outside (due to very poor insulation, people and traffic all behaved normally). Extremely smelly bathroom, with a bathroom door that couldn't close. So combined this was rather uncomfortable. Did not feel comfortable enough to even go near the pool facilities. I'd probably have left if I would have needed the room from more than a short night.
The decor is tired and the room was quite small, but with better insulation that wouldn't have mattered so much.
- Catherine (10/5): - Good cath
- Amanda (6/5): -
- Kalyan (10/5): Loved the stay - Loved the stay. Room was good, spacious and warm. Bathroom was clean and nice water flow. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were a great fun. Food was enjoyable at the restaurant too.
- debra (10/5): - Freindly at reception good entertainment excellent swimming pool plenty to do nice restaurants
- Mark (7/5): -
- Jane (4/5): - Dance floor and organiser of Latin fest Tired looking and in need of decoration.
Food very basic in standard.
- Kiyani (1/5): -
- Thom (8/5): :) - Staff were great! I mentioned my mattress being uncomfortable and they did all they could be rectify it. A bit tired, but would stay again.
- Anthony (8/5): - Good entertainment, pool and sauna. The mattress was well below standard as the springs were sticking up and caused me a lot of discomfort
- Matty (8/5): Lovely stay - The pool area was lovely. Nice breakfast Rooms are a little dated
- alan (8/5): Bathroom - I liked all the facilities within the hotel I felt the bath in my room needs to be seen by a plumber the taps were difficult to turn on hot tap of the bath stuck in the on position
- Daniel (7/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall stay was ok. We did however find the bed unacceptable. The mattress was very uncomfortable as the springs seemed to protrude up through it which you could feel as we lay on it, and the bed itself was incredibly creaky.
- Helen (7/5): good stay - We upgraded room as original was very small. Breakfast and dinner food was good, hot, good selection Staff on reception quite abrupt.
- Omar Abdullah (5/5): -
- Munro (6/5): Comfortable. - Swimming pools were excellent. The decor and hall carpets.
- Vicki (10/5): - Beautiful hotel. Facilities were excellent.
- Salim (3/5): - Piss poor No value for money
- Stacy (1/5): We checked out straight away and stayed somewhere else - Awful we left and stayed at a different hotel Dirty and scabby and room was on a hill. If I put a ball on the bed it would’ve rolled off onto the floor
- stephen (4/5): Needs an update. - Rooms are very tied and need of repair. To close bathroom door it needed to be lifted. Wardrobe door partly hanging off. Shower water not running away drain partly blocked.
The food was of a very poor standard Getting out in the area
- Jonathan (1/5): Stay here if you want to stay somewhere shit - It was awful, there was poo on the toilet the room looked way worse than the picture and the pillows were as thin as a sheet of paper Everything, from the rickety lift to the smell of smoke throughout the hallways to the kebabs on the hallway floors
- Alison (8/5): - The indoor swimming pools.Dining options and staff.
