Guest Reviews
- Kerstin (3/5): - Das Hotel ist völlig baufällig. Ein zahlender Gast sollte dort nicht übernachten. Weiterhin sind dort Asylanten untergebracht. Entsprechend sah es auch aus im Hotel. Wie booking das überhaupt noch anbieten kann. Ab um 2 Uhr könnte man dann endlich mal schlafen.
- Malik (1/5): -
- Saskia (1/5): enttäuschend - Nichts. Sehr dreckig und alle komisch.
- Mark (1/5): Waardeloos! - Zeer slecht. Alles is vies, onvriendelijk personeel. Spreken geen Engels of Nederlands. Kamers zitten vol schimmel, gordijnen stuk. Deur kan niet op slot. Badkamer en WC zijn gedeeld en zeer, zeer goor!
We zijn weggegaan en hebben een ander hotel gezocht. Dit is slechter dan een gevangenis. Extreem slecht. Alles is vies, onvriendelijk personeel. Spreken geen Engels of Nederlands. Kamers zitten vol schimmel, gordijnen stuk. Deur kan niet op slot. Badkamer en WC zijn gedeeld en zeer, zeer goor!
We zijn weggegaan en hebben een ander hotel gezocht. Dit is slechter dan een gevangenis.
- Hardi (6/5): Pleasant - The room was clean with private bathroom.
Good to stay and sleep. If you rent bicycle, then nice location too.
- Ju (3/5): Poor -
- Daniel (5/5): A cleanish and usable no-frills accommodation - The room was comparably cheap and good to reach using public transport. The youth is partying every night and very loudly in front of the hotel which is very annoying, the room is very basic and the interior a bit shabby, the bathroom is the smallest I've ever been to (including Japanese ones!) and taking a shower necessarily wets the whole floor. The reception is pretty much non-existent as are other services.
- Giovanni (6/5): Pleasant -
- Anna (3/5): I don’t recommend this hotel - It wasn’t comfortable at all. The pillows are too big and hard. It’s impossible to lay down comfortably. I felt disgusting. There was blood on the shower curtain. Everything looks worse than it looks on the photos.
- Zhong (10/5): Exceptional - Had a really nice stay and the staff was nice !
- Nicole (5/5): Passable -
- Yassir (5/5): Passable -
- Silvestros (6/5): Pleasant -
- Luke (9/5): Great value and a clean, comfortable room. Friendly staff. Just what I was looking for! - I had a nicely sized private room with a sink and mirror. I felt secure leaving my belongings there when I left for the day. The room was warm and comfortable and just what I was looking for! The shared bathroom was very small. It is clean and worked well, but was a very tight space.
- Moha (7/5): Good -
- Grace (1/5): Bad -
- Ricards (1/5): Bad -
- Bastian (5/5): Passable -
- Morris (1/5): Bad -
- Artur (2/5): I would not recommend it to anyone. - Niets It was very dirty. Dirty bed sheets. The beds were uncomfortable at all. A lot of noise. Very smelly in the hotel and in the room as well. Even the towels which I got were very dirty. I think for 96 euro which I paid, there are much better hotels. At least cleaner.
- Agolli (10/5): lovely place - Very nice host
- Ari (7/5): Nice place to crash in a short trip - The room, bed, and bathroom were nice and clean. Good neighborhood, quiet but only 5 minutes from the bus stop with many routes. The location is fine, 15-20 minutes bus ride to central, and close to some local town centers. They facilities are minimal. No cutleries, even basic ones. There is a coffee machine, but we have to pay per cup (and the coffee taste is not too good). There was only one receptionist who admitted me, who left after I checked in.
- Anja (9/5): Superb -
- Pillow (7/5): Best sleep I’ve had in a while! Kind staff! - The staff were very very kind and agreed to do my laundry! They were friendly and helpful. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was clean, the water pressure in the shower was amazing. Its very loud, thin walls and lots of children around. It was a little difficult to get to, not very central. But it was close to a grocery store and shops!
- Alexandros (5/5): Passable -
- Cristina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tomislav (7/5): Good -
- Simone (6/5): Pleasant - Great location, parking options Shared bathroom
- Nezia (3/5): Poor - The location was good, easy to get to by public transport and good facilities nearby. When we arrived we were told that our room was not available due to flooding. We were offered two other options which was fine but neither were as good as what we booked and we were only offered a discount for one.
The beds were very uncomfortable, the mattresses seemed convex shaped so we spent all night trying not to roll off.
The atmosphere was strange, it seemed like families were living in the hotel, with arguments during the night, kids bikes everywhere, children roaming the hallway.
The shower was absolutely tiny, the TV was not working and finishes and cleanliness were not great.
- Vane (8/5): Very good -
- Kata (8/5): Very good -
- David (3/5): Poor - The accommodation was close to where we needed to go. We did not get to stay in the apartment with private shower, toilet and kitchen that we booked. Instead they asked us to stay in a 5 bed room with shared shower, toilet and kitchen. There was only 1 shower for the whole house. The staff tried to convince us that only 2 other people were staying in the house, but we saw at least 15 people during our stay. And finally, we had to argue with the owner to give us at least a partial refund, which ended up being less than appropriate for the inconvenience.
- Martina (7/5): Good -
- Alina (8/5): Very good -
- Evan (8/5): Very good -
- Mariolina (1/5): To be avoided. - You should avoid this hotel at all costs. The staff is unfriendly, they hardly speak English, they made a mistake with my reservation and I had to find another hotel.
- Dina (8/5): It was good enough for staying in affordable price. - I liked the behaviour of the staff and cleanliness of toilet and shower. I didn’t like the pillows of the bed and the circuit beside the bed was not working.
- Ebrahim (1/5): Bad - The room had no bathroom, no private toilet, and the room was cramped
- Andrei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Duncan (5/5): Passable -
- Tamcat (8/5): Very good -
- Mike (1/5): Dreadful - even for the price - It was cheap. We were promised an ensuite bathroom and a garden view. We had to use shared facilities: an unventilated cramped loo and a shower room with no surfaces to put anything on; and a street view. At least we could see our car (parked outside on the street) which we were warned to empty. Promised "Cable TV" relies on poor internet connection and therefore doesn't work. Customers are openly bribed (10€) to leave positive reviews. Noisy and generally dreadful. Would never use again.
- Vicki (6/5): Adequate - The room was clean, Wi-Fi worked and there are food shops nearby. The shower was good. Nobody explained to me there is a shared kitchen so I only ate cold food. The rooms just need a few touches like a picture on the wall and a kettle. The TV is mounted too high on the wall and there is a drain outside the room which drips water if it rains at night.
- Greta (6/5): Pleasant - Good for one person traveling just to sleep here. We ordered two separated beds, but we got only one. Also, the bathroom was very small, even hard to turn around.
- Muharrem (5/5): Passable -
- William (9/5): Superb - toilet clean, shower clean, beds all clean, towels clean
- Veselina (9/5): One night at Hotel Holland Lodge - The place is on a really good location (between 15 and 20min by bus from the center) and I think it was worth the value. We had a room with own bathroom and not having a window was not a problem for us. The bed was comfy and it was warm. There is also a small fridge in the room and TV with Netflix (didn't check if the account was set or you have to use yours tho). Only that my neighbors were kind of noisy, we heard a lot of giggling and conversations at night, but 😅 yeah.
- Rashkevych (10/5): A very cosy and friendly place to spend your days while visiting Utrecht. The staff is great and very helpful with any n -
- Lena (10/5): Very well suited for what I need. A good place to stay in. Calm surrondings. - The site was well situated for my purpose, attending an event in Sport hall De Dreef. Walking distance.
Comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff. Thank you. In the bathroom, I missed a hook for the towel.
- Carlene (10/5): Excellent - Central area and people were very friendly Bathroom very small but I suppose typical Europe bathrooms
- Jasser (9/5): I recommend it for others - The did not clean the room for 3 days
- Tobias (2/5): Disappointment and not clear how it can have 2 stars - Dirty. Oily handle for the heating. Smelly Showers. Holes in the sheets.
- Marina (5/5): passably - It was way cheaper than the other hotel options. There was kitchen and the guest can use it. The supermarket is very close. I didn't find it clean enough. The bed and the pillow were not comfortable at all. It was not warm enough for me (I was there in November)
- Naveen (8/5): It nice and staff is good - There is no break fast facility in this Hotel They should add breakfast
- Tamara (3/5): I do not recommend it. - I stayed for 5 nights and did not have the room cleaned a single day, when I asked about it, I was informed that I should ask for the service, however I was not informed of it in the check in. So if you stay there, make sure you ask for it. The fridge in the room was not working, then it was replaced by another one which was also not working. Bed sheet and pillows were not clean.
- Chaskai (1/5): The worst hotel I have ever been, with the worst staff - the apartment was very dirty, there were spiders inside. The wall also had two holes. Their plumbing was broken and the room was permanently flooded with water on the floor. They didn't even offer to change our room. Worst hotel experience of my life. Every time we asked them to clean the water, the cleaner and the person in charge looked at us in a very bad way and told us that it was nothing special.
- Luke (10/5): Extremely comfy and warm place - Extremely roomy, massive tv, clean linen and room Nothing
- Adrien (8/5): Would recommend - Nice and causy room.
- Frantisek (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (6/5): Pleasant -
- Anton (10/5): Perfect accommodation for my short stay in Utrecht - Close to a Bus Station, Parking Slots available, comfortable room 👍
- Clare (7/5): Thanks for letting us stay! A reasonably good value hotel. - The room was fine for a two-star hotel. As was the bathroom. We wanted somewhere cheap so we cannot really complain. The towels were a bit stained and the bedlinen had other people’s hair on it. The toilet smelled a bit unclean but this was fine as long as the bathroom door was shut.
- Mustata (1/5): a disastrous experience - a disastrous experience a disastrous experience
- Jens (8/5): Very good -
- Jack (4/5): Disappointing - It was available and not hard to reach by bus. It was also close to the Vecht, which was nice. The young man and woman working there were friendly. The owner seemed quite annoyed that we arrived at all, it didn't seem like anyone else was staying there, and the walls and doors are very thin so one can hear everything that is going on in the lobby at night.
- Alek (1/5): Been to many countries didn't expect this from the netherlands vey bad experience - Nothing The room was in his basement, the shower was next to the reception desk and spider webs everywhere
- Kristy (1/5): One of the worst experiences ever, never coming back - The hotel was at a pretty good location. - Firstly, when we first got to the hotel we were trying to check-in but the receptionist starts off with bad news for us. He tells us that one of the rooms we've booked "family room", wasn't ready due to constructions. So his suggestion was to put an extra bed in a double room so that we would have 5 people stay in 2 double rooms.
We explained that this was not expected at all and that the 2 double rooms would be too small. We were then told that both of the rooms that we would be getting would have to use shared public bathrooms/showers but on their listing it clearly says "Each hotel room at Hotel Holland Lodge features private bathroom facilities" so that's misinformation. Upon hearing us refuse to use the two double bedrooms for 5 people, the receptionist got really annoyed, slaps his desk and threw his pen at his desk saying there's nothing he can do. After a while of figuring out what to do, he decides to give us a 3rd room which was appreciated.
- Bedding and sheets were not clean, stains on them and webs around corners of the room and bed.
- Walls are super thin and we could hear people's conversations regardless of where we were in the building.
- Receptionist was rarely at his desk so we couldn't ask for things we needed and had to wait a while.
- He was also being unreasonably rude as he refused to provide help regarding local information and told us to just google it.
- Receptionist walks into one of the rooms using a spare key WITHOUT knocking or anything, then accuses us for losing this key when it was a spare key all along and made us feel bad because we thought we might have dropped the key by accident.
- On the way out, another man (presumably the owner or manager) comes to speak with me about the situation. In short, he basically said that the family room is ready now, but he won't give it to us since we made him lose a lot of money.
- Dio (10/5): Family friendly hotel, good location, clean beds and good stuffs, very friendly staffs. 10/10 points - I and family stayed for 2 nights during our weekend visit to Utrecht.
The location is superb, very quite because in the middle of housing complex/settlement. And Supermarkt (Albert Heijn) is nearby, only ca. 5 mins on foot.
There is a playground (free and belongs to city) In front of hotel, perfect for family with kids. unfortunately i and my kid didnt play there due to rain. Otherwise its very pleasure to play there.
Hotel staffs are very friendly, i phoned the receptionist to inform that we came late (around 21:00) and also very helpful.
We booked an apartment room for 5 beds (only use 4 though). Beds are comfy, kitchen utensils: microwave, refrigerator, stove etc are available and clean. Apartement is spacious and clean. Price is an OK, Standard NL/Utrecth around 300 EUR for 2 nights with 4 guests: 2 adults, 2 kids (8 y+ 5 Mo).
7/10 points for price
Wifi signal was very weak if u sleep downstair, but it was an OK for us.
8/10 for Wifi signal
Otherwise no minus points in our eyes
- Sara (8/5): Very good - Calm, clean, and functional.
- Andrea (7/5): Good -
- Marilena (5/5): Passable -
- Jakub (5/5): Passable - The location is good, very quiet during the night. You can get a coffee in the hall. Groceries nearby. We did not receive the rooms we ordered. We were supposed to have two rooms, instead we had one common room (one of them was unfortunately not available). The bathroom was not cleaned properly. The shower didn't drain at all, so I had to pull the hair out of the drain so we could shower at all. Beds were very soft, they were falling apart. It was enough for three nights, but the fact that they didn't want to compensate us for the exchange of rooms is quite negative.
- Cosmin-radu (6/5): Pleasant -
- Luka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Federico (5/5): Passable - Family Room was on 2 levels and quite big Room was very hot on the first floor, curtains had stains and had not been washed for ages. Kitchen had only one dirty frying pan and few cutlery. Wifi signal was poor/absent and tv had no channels registered.
- Mohammad (1/5): I have been to a two-star hotel before. But this was my worst experience. I do not recommend at al - Nothing I have been to a two-star hotel before. But this was my worst experience. I do not recommend at all.
- Catherine (7/5): Good -
- Khalid (7/5): Good -
- Christian (2/5): Came late and took what we found. - Room, bath, toilet: dirty, noisy, felt not safe. Everything

- Matteo (7/5): Good - Good position: supermarket, bus stop, bike rent
Possibility to use internal kitchen. No daily room cleaning.
- Soner (4/5): Disappointing -
- Daniel (7/5): Good -
- Fanny (7/5): Good for the price, really. - Nice place. Reception guy is really kind. And a fridge in the room :) A bit noisy (the walls are a bit paper thin)...
- Arnoldus (1/5): Bad -
- Evangelos (6/5): Pleasant - the bed the staff was not really friendly and polite, seemed annoyed that we wanted to check in😬 moreover the place had a constant bad smell
- Cateau (7/5): Good trip, enjoyed Utrecht. - Hotel was okay, practical & all things you need are there. The room was clean, but the public areas were not the cleanest.
- Sanja (1/5): I do not recommend! - Nothing!!!! Accommodation with shared bathroom. The furniture is old and very dirty. The sink in the room is dirty, the bed is full of hair! The toilet is right next to the reception, unpleasant and noisy. The shower is the same, after showering you have to collect the water. Lots of money, no service. Deposit for the key €50. There is no air conditioning, the room is too warm. The fan did not work. The location is quite far away, it can be reached by bus. I do not recommend!
- Raoul (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mayke (4/5): Disappointing - The room was pretty big and I liked the layout The sheets were dirty and the neighbourhood was not very comfortable
- Onur (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (4/5): Disappointing -
- Emin (6/5): Pleasant - Beds was clean and comfortable
Parking is free The room we had was in the basement and the air inside was not fresh.
It was kind of claustrophobic.

- Radoslaw (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ei (7/5): Good -
- Mark (6/5): Pleasant - Got upgraded to a private room when checking in Room very tight and bathroom was very tight, location not great
- Alkinoos (7/5): Good - Although the comments for this Hotel were not good, it was good for 1 night. After reading all these comments we were ready to face a very bad and dirty hotel, it was good instead. It could be a little bit cleaner.
- William (7/5): Good -
- Ivan (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, good value for money. Got free upgrade and coffee :)
