Guest Reviews
- Mark Stephen (7/5): Basic hotel nice team and good breakfast - Great staff comfy bed needs an update A bit tatty in places
- Mariana (10/5): I loved everything. - The Breakfast was excellent with a good variety of fresh and tasty option.
Excellent location. Very convenient for travel and nearby attractions. The hotel's location was perfect, with easy access to shopping. Everything was great. The overall experience.
- Mel (2/5): Horrible - Location Was old dated , room keys kept getting wiped , had to go reception 3 times , room was so hot and smelt of weed , all of which were reported to reception many times
- Hollie (1/5): -
- Clare (1/5): Awful rooms, needs knocking down - Pool large
Receptionist helpful Rooms dated
Bathrooms awful
Beds like rocks
Heating on full in entire hotel, very hot
Needed complete renovation
Pool towels extra charge and pool closed early without warning
- Michelle (7/5): - The facilities are amazing. The karaoke in Albert's bar was great, great atmosphere. Breakfast was really good and staff at breakfast were brilliant seated all 24 of us together in a couple of minutes which was well recieved. Swimming pool is great and games room is fab. The rooms were so hot, uncomfortably hot which meant most of our party did not sleep well. The temperature dials were not working and radiators were full blast.
- Nottle (10/5): - All All

- Matthew (10/5): -
- Christine (8/5): Very comfortable apartment - The location; 2 minute walk to the Riveria centre , and 7 minute walk to the beach.
Well Equipped and comfortable apartment. Some of the Decor was dated.
- Cate (9/5): Comfy stay with great sea views. - Great location - easy to get to other places and lovely sea view. Having a pool on site was a bonus.
- mary (7/5): - Pool, games room for youngsters, food OK, , Aztec bar and outside area, room. Parts looked tired. Some refurbishment needed. Carpets in places need replacing. Seemed understaffed at times.
- Mcginley (2/5): -
- Steve (9/5): Lovely - Location and staff All good
- Rabbitt (9/5): - Great location, nice food and bar. Slightly behind at breakfast service but still a nice breakfast.
- Susan (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay. We had a rainy day and there was enough entertainment in the hotel to keep us busy for the d - Great entertainment, friendly staff and lots to do onsite. It feels like a good old fashioned English holiday The bedrooms could probably do with being updated, but not too much to take away the character of the building
- wbarnett (5/5): -
- Damian (10/5): -
- Roy (6/5): Stayed there for position of hotel but maybe look elsewhere next time - It is great place to get to seafront Booked a disabled space for parking as my wife has MS and had also broken her foot the space was marked with our name but someone else had parked in it. When asked reception on day of arrival about it told it was not a car on their system so basically unlucky. The car was clearly a guest in one of the sister hotels as the next day saw a family at the car who then when into the other hotel. Room was cold when we got there no heating on and so was the bar.
- robert (7/5): I have stayed at the hotel on many occasions however because I booked it through Booking.com I was charged £30 to park m -
- Helen (8/5): -
- Gay (7/5): Was ok but paying more for a view was disappointing nasty nets and seal had gone so condensation so not great view - Central to the town
Aztec cafe/bar nice Definitely needs new curtains many holes, carpets also need replacing in many areas..
A brush to outside areas wouldn’t go amiss, I’m aware it’s winter but very messy!!
- Slawomir (8/5): -
- Mursal (10/5): Everything was absolutely beautiful. Love it - Everything was great. And everything walking distance.nice and clean highly recommended. Spa and Leisure was
- Aleksandra (3/5): -
- Genna (7/5): - Spa and pool Too hot to stay this time of year with no air con. A bit tired looking with some worn out decor. Broken and dirty looking bathroom in particular the floor
- Susan (6/5): I liked my stay - Generally clean, spacious, easy to reach the beach . Food was good Carpets need replacing and room not cleaned and towels not changed till we left
- Katie (5/5): - It was close to everything Bed was uncomfortable , to hot and cleaner just walked in room at 9am
- Meena (10/5): Overall a great stay we will definitely return! It was excellent for the kids! - Facilities were excellent breakfast was good and evening entertainment was also great Need more lifts as we had to carry the pushchair up and down all the stairs lifts would’ve been a massive help!
- Lukasz (2/5): -
- Georgina (4/5): Swimming wise lovely, everything else, not so lovely. - Kids enjoyed the play area and the swimming facilities. Upset that we had to pay £40 extra for breakfast, would've been £80 but didn't want to pay for two nights as that's alot of money.
Door kept making a noise everytime another door opened which meant we thought people were coming into the apartment.
My partner and myself got bitten by something over night (partner on chest / back) mine is on my chest. Spoken to someone about it and they didn't say much. Really upset by this.
- Loraine (8/5): - I love these hotels and have been lots of times. There's so much to do and great entertainment. I've no dislikes at all.
- Vicky (7/5): -
- Patrick (1/5): Wouldn’t book again unfortunately been here a few times, but as for Christmas was great very disappointing - Friendly staff I booked this apartment/hotel entertainment for my kids to get away on holiday for Christmas unfortunately there was absolutely nothing to do for the kids for the day. No entertainment for the kids for the day wouldn’t recommend this hotel for children. especially the older generation just moaning about the kids trying to enjoy What was there?
- Ben (6/5): A bit depressing - The location is good and I like the pool facilities The decor is tired and basic and the carpet is filthy. I didn’t want to take my shoes off in my own room.
- Yasmin (7/5): It was nice, just few issues with apartment - Love this hotel anyway Often stay here, always had a room, this time we had an apartment, but it was cold and few other issues so will be back to just a room again
- Chloe (1/5): -
- Ellen (1/5): Avoid - Nothing . It's crying to be updated and does not look like the photos? The pool is beyond freezing 🥶 and the staff are rude . Having to walk in and walk out again as even being charged to use a towel for the pool ? It was the worst hotel I've ever set foot in .
- Julie (8/5): As long as your not looking for luxury your fine - Close to amenities The hotel is very tired
Blown windows
Flood boards that creak very loudly
Hot water coming out of cold tap
- Ross (9/5): -
- Joanne (6/5): Pros and cons. - Stayed in a self catering apartment in victoria. Very clean room.Comfy beds, good level of blackout in rooms. Enough plug sockets and enough lighting with dimmers in lounge and bedroom. Good selection of channels on tv. Hot shower, hot water in kitchen. Kitchen had majority of things needed. Problems raised were resolved. Fab entertainment in the resort. The kids entertainer and bingo compare were really good fun. Bar staff friendly and patient. We enjoyed a game of bowls and a game of ten pin bowling. Enjoyed the arcade. Reasonably priced food and drink. Aztec food was really nice. Pool was amazing and well staffed.Staff all really lovely, especially in the derwent part.Good location. Land train picks up right outside derwent entrance. Riviera centre across the road. Front and bedroom of apartment had no heating. Porter brought electric heaters but it was hard to get swimming things clean. It is advertised to have housekeeping but didnt see any, had to call reception for more loo roll. No instructions for induction hob, had to call porter to help in the end bc i couldnt work it out via google. Ended up microwaving but there were no microwavable bowls (except cereal bowls). Mugs were very, very small. Cold water ran warm so i had to run the cold water tap for 2.5 minutes to get cold drinkable water. Reception advised water was fine and to run for 5 mins and said this to me as if this was a normal thing to do. I think victoria reception were fed up with me calling by day 3. Overall very tired apartment, had an iron mark in the hall carpet, dents and scuffs on the walls. Poor paint job in hall. The pleather dining chairs were moulting. Fridge faces the wrong way, so i could only open fridge by shutting the kitchen door, which was awkward in such a small space. Bingo and arcade change machine are cash only. There is a cash point in the arcade but it charges 1.75 per withdrawal. No other cash points within brief walking distance. Have to pay £10 per night to park if book through booking.com. Which was annoying.

- Jaine (1/5): Have stayed at TLH loads of times but will never return. - Good location and a good breakfast. Cleanliness was a big downfall, dirty bed, shower terrible, furniture in the room was in a terrible state, no entertainment as hotel was booked out to skittles event and only catered for them, private event signs everywhere ! Spent evenings in the room. The staff were very unhelpful and not interested when I tried to complain, told me all they could do was pass my concerns onto a manager as I’d booked through booking.com. Have to pay £10 a night to park if you book through booking.com but free if you book direct.
- Susan (6/5): - I have stayed at the resort numerous times and have always enjoyed my stay. Unfortunately this last time was not so good. The evening entertainment in the Derwent is always great but it was closed due to a private function. Giving an alternative in the Carlton which does not have the same ambience therefore not many people attended. This has put me off returning to the resort I’m afraid
- Johnny (8/5): - Leisure centre and pools
- Lisa (8/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): Would return - Lovely hotel. Lots to do
- Catherine (10/5): The hotel was brilliant with daily and evening entertainment. I had a one bedroom and sofa bed for 3 adults and a 13 yr - Perfect location and value for money
- Karl (9/5): -
- Emma (10/5): - The 165 years old Victoria Hotel is so beautiful, so big and still so functional premise that we were really impressed. It is true that need flooring and little room renovation but I can only congratulate with the owner and management how good is maintained.
The ladies at the reception are fantastic, so patient and helpful.
The swimming pools are fantastic and big sizes, good for long swimming and the other for families with kids with a separate little corner for babies. The jacuzzi is a good size, good bubbles (I like a stronger water jet but was ok). Steaming really good and hot sauna lovely.
The breakfast was very good and simple, basic very well cooked fried eggs, beans, plum tomatoes sauce, hash brown potatoes a little dry, scrambled eggs and sausages to improve. But the waiters were offering fresh made poached, boiled or scrambled eggs to be served at your table and fresh croissants too.
We loved the other station with a very good yogurt, prunes on syrup, fantastic fresh fruit salad, cerries on syrup, sliced almonds, apple or grapes juices. There are 2 hot drinks machines quite good, but for my italian taste the coffee was a little weak.
We found the service around the restaurant breakfast spotless, especially the lovely Ukrainian Pavel (not sure about the spelling) was making every single one so welcome and attentive to anyone needs, also the sweet Sara was very caring.
There are so many activities going on especially for senior that really enjoy the hotel a lot.
- Amanda (8/5): A comfortable stay with lots of facilities. - Our room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Hotel facilities were great, with plenty of entertainment on offer, plus great spa and leisure facilities. The hotel is conveniently located, and within easy walking distance of the seafront attractions. Some of the carpets in the corridors were a bit worn, and need replacing.
- Radoslaw (5/5): -
- Banka (10/5): -
- Dawn (10/5): - Lovely hotel great breakfast and staff were really nice and accoadating to our needs The bed was places in the room with no plug sockets next to it and was a bit to soft
- Lesley (8/5): Restaurant staff very helpful and friendly - Great swimming pools and games for the children Too many stairs and slopes as I have difficulty walking and climbing stairs
- Rebecca (8/5): Great for a summer holiday break for families - Facilities, entertainment, food and staff Needs some updating but didn't ruin our stay
- Ryan (10/5): Torquay 2025 - I loved everything about this hotel... The on-site entertainment... The close proximity to the beach... The room... What I loved the most though... Was the fact I got to stay there with my daughter... Some incredible and truly special memories made... It was sad to leave... The only thing I didn't like is that my holiday with my daughter went quick and ended too soon...
- Annmarie (4/5): Good location -that’s about it wouldn’t recommend or stay again - This was a big complex 4 hotels sharing No water pressure in the shower meaning couldn’t wash hair.
The apartment was old \dated and the hottest place I’ve ever stayed tiny windows & 1 ring fan. With only 1 plug socket in the bedroom!
- Ellie (7/5): -
- Nicoleta (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay even though it was just 2 nights stay
- Charlene (5/5): It was a nice stay, however, there is certainly room for improvement. It also wasn't encouraging that there was a ra - The property was in a fantastic location and a stones throw away from the beach and 20 mins walk from the city centre. The amenities were great and there were a lot of entertainment options. The property needs remodernising. Carpets in the communal areas were extremely warn. One of the showers in our rooms never worked and trickled out water. The rooms housekeeping never provided enough refreshments in one room. The ceiling had mould on. The shower had some black grime around the sides. It was really hot which made room uncomfortable as the fan provided wasn't powerful enough. There was no iron available in rooms and when we asked for one, we were told that they don't provide irons, which is very poor service standards. The window ledge paint was stripping off. We had to pay for parking got booking through Booking.com but it would've been free if we booked direct with hotel.
- JULIE (10/5): Lovely facilities weather amazing swimming pool was lovely - Reception staff and reservations were amazing at finding a room suitable as I am a wheelchair user and booked this as late availability. The room was fine and had a raised toilet seat. Nothing
- Jozsef (5/5): - Az elhelyezkedese! Tisztaság, a reggeli, a szobában nincs hűtő, nincs legkondicionalo.
- Martin (9/5): Very lovely location and great facilities for all ages - Clean and tidy good food but could have more choice for evening meals Too hot in rooms but fan helped a little
- Chris (2/5): - AVOID!! We checked in, then left and came home after a couple of hours!! It’s dirty, old, damp riddled and is completely inaccessible for prams. It’s a maze of dark corridors with filthy carpets that would have been old in the 80s. The air in our apartment was thick with damp. Swimming pools are cloudy with chlorine.
- Stephen (2/5): Dreadful! - The hotel was filthy, the bed was really uncomfortable, the food was discusting, the receptionist was rude, we definitely wont be going back!
- Kate (7/5): Great location and facilities - Facilities, choice of entertainment, short walk to the beach Bed not particularly comfortable, very warm,
- Sedat (8/5): - Lovely place. Staff friendly nice place to go for holiday
- Kenneth (8/5): -
- Mal (7/5): OK - Location
Swimming pools
Staff very friendly Outdated
TV old and not working most of the time
Bathroom average
Food also average
- Lewis (10/5): -
- Georgina (3/5): - Location. Outside pool looked good for families but was very busy Cost for room was very high and hotel felt far more run down than the photos suggested. Parking was paid additionally. Pool was so busy that we had to wait for people to leave before entering. Room had no air conditioning and was very hot.
- Spencer (4/5): Was a good resort in need of a refurb and TLC as facilities are great but lack of attention lets it down - Swimming pools and restaurants was good Bar at the pool was half hour wait as only one young girl present and struggling
Communal areas in need of a total refurb
Ground floor rooms at Victoria 15-16 are in the communal walk way with constant noise also lead out to bar area outside leaving no privacy without closing curtains
- Trebert (4/5): -
- Robert (9/5): - Good value
- Bryant (10/5): -
- Cherie (9/5): - Location price Was put on the top floor with three kids and 6 cases was a struggle
- Stephanie (8/5): - Location waste excellent and facilities were good. The whole hotel is dated but it is clean
- Tammy (1/5): Dirty old hotel, too many big heavy doors and stairs to navigate. Never again. - The location was ok for getting to Torquay town and the pool inside was nice, although they could have cleaned it more often as the one time we went around 4pm and there was hair all over the floor and bits. The room was soo old and run down. The smell hit us as soon as we got to the corridor. The room was disgustingly filthy, we could see Lindt wrappers, fruits shoots and crisps sat under the sofa from the last people. The rug was covered in bits of food and hair and the pull out sofa looked about 20 years old and was absolutely manky (i didn’t sit on it at all, it was so bad). In our room we had 2 adults and 2 children so we had to push the single and double bed together and all somehow squeeze on because there was absolutely no way any of us could have slept on the filthy pull out sofa. Being the top floor the room was soo hot day and night, even with the windows open. The hotel was frustratingly big and we found it so difficult getting around with a 3 year old and so many heavy doors to go through and stairs, it felt draining. The hotel was like a maze. One night we went to the kids disco and it was basically like a conference room with all the lights beaming on and two young girls who sat playing whatever music they wanted, not a single kids song. The next night we went to the kids games night. At the start of the night the same idiot staff members excitedly told the children they have plenty of games and surprises. When in fact they played one game for 40 minutes!!! They finally announced that one child had won and she got to choose a sweet. The games then ended then and they just played random music for the remainder of the time. We also had to play £20 to park our car on the hotel.

- Lucy (4/5): - Kids loved the indoor pool The apparent was very dated, a little dirty and the beds were very uncomfortable
- Chloe (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at TLH Victoria. The only thing I would ask for is a mini fridge in the rooms. We were in a room for 4 but a mini fridge would have been really handy to put our bottles of water in and kids snacks.
There also wasn't much entertainment for the children over the weekend. There was a disco on Tuesday and Thursday but we were staying Friday-Sunday. It would be good to have a kids disco on a Friday and Saturday and have the bingo start just a little later so the little ones can have their fun

- sarah (8/5): Overall mostly positive, would return. - Staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming The mattress was not very good, rooms a bit dated.
- Farrelly (5/5): Victoria Hotel review - Entertainment and swimming pool plus location. Size of bedroom and bathroom were too small. Room was also very tired in need of redecorating and replacement of furniture. WC was loose (2 blocks of wood were wedged behind the unit). Hairdryer defective.
