- Fong Oi (10/5): - Oakfold house is convenient located in Bowness on Windermere, a mere 2-min walk to bus-stops going towards the pier or to Grasmere. We had also walked 15 mins to the pier and 15 mins to Windermere town centre.Its proprietors, Chris & Robin are attentive and hospitable hosts who ensure we have a pleasant and memorable stay in Windermere, giving us advice to make our way around. They also ensure we start the day with a hearty breakfast of our own choice. Their guest lounge is a Iovely place to relax after a day out.

We had a lovely break and stayed here for New Years, the location is amazing (10 min walk to the main Bowness area) and the service by the team was exceptional. We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to the lakes.
- Lee Mei Ling (8/5): - Great stay for 2 nights. Check in was easy. Though the room for 3 persons was a little tight, it was cosy with adequate walking space. Just be mindful that opening of big luggage could be a challenge in the limited area. Breakfast options were great and hosts were most friendly. Certainly a recommended accommodation in Windermere. Within walking distance to restaurants, shops and shopping. Love it!

- alexis (10/5): Can’t wait to return! - We had a lovely stay and were met by Robyn and Chris, who were willing to accommodate us dropping our bags off early. It was a really lovely surprise to find our bags in our room when we returned later! The room was really comfortable with all of the little luxuries that we’d need and extras available in the guest lounge if we needed them. Breakfast was delicious and had everything we could possibly want. Lovely fresh local produce too! We’d love to stay here again and would recommend to friends and family.

- Sofia (10/5): Couldn’t fault a thing! - Stayed here for 2 nights in the middle of the week, in winter so I imagine it was much quieter than it will be in the summer. Hotel was absolutely superb- extremely comfortable, clean, with a relaxing atmosphere. It is decorated very well, lovely art on the walls, very tasteful. We stayed in the smallest double room available- a really cosy attic room- and we did not find that the size was an issue, it did not feel cramped. At night it was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was also delicious- there are definitely options for everyone- and the extras (such as some free fudge and teas and hot chocolate for the room) were very much appreciated. Staff were lovely and welcoming- all in all a really enjoyable experience! Hopefully we will be returning there one day.

Room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast had lots of choice on the pre order and was lovely and hot when served. I left a shirt in the room and Clare even messaged me to get my address to post it onto me. Would definitely recommend.

Convenient to bus service to Windermere, Ambleside, and Grasmere. Clare and Robert were superb and attentive hosts, really made you feel at home. They provided fantastic recommendations for hikes, restaurants and activities. Breakfast in the bright drawing room with a large picture window overlooking the garden was hardy, with choices from full English to vegetarian to light fare. Impeccably clean throughout. Relaxing garden, comfortable, quiet room - couldn’t have hoped for better!

- Sharon (10/5): Another fantastic stay !! - This was our second stay at Oakfold House B & B and, as per last summer, our family received a very warm welcome from the owners, Rob and Claire. On this occasion, we chose the ground floor family room and were most impressed by the decor, size, bathroom and comfort of this room. The traditional English breakfasts were fantastic as usual, piping hot and plenty to choose from. The location of Oakfold House is ideal and only a short 5 minute walk into the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere. We highly recommend this B & B, and will definitely be booking again.

There were clear guidelines about the Covid safe meaures being undertaken and precautions like hand sanitiser available. The single room is small but well furnished and decorated and suited my needs well for a good value room for a solo walking weekend. Location is convenient for those reliant on public transport to get around.

Great location for both walking into Windermere and to the lakeside at Bowness, and near lots of great restaurants. The hosts were lovely and welcoming, and the breakfast was amazing. - Kyle (10/5): Great Place! - Oakfold House was absolutly wonderful for the late May bank holiday in the Lake District. Easily walking distance to the Lake, Bowness and Windermere gives you the option of both towns for resturants and shops. There is also a bus stop a stones throw from the front door. Breakfast was lovely and very customizable to strike your fancy. My train arrived about an hour delayed and they were very flexible with me when it came to check in and let me leave my bags there after I had checked out while I was out for the day before I headed back to London. The owners were very friendly and I would highly recommend Oakfold House to anyone looking for a place to stay while in the Lake District!

- Daniel (10/5): Excellent stay! - Excellent stay. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was okay, bathroom was lovely and modern! Everything was very well kept and looked after. Breakfast provided in the morning. Even accomodated for a gluten free breakfast upon request. Exceptional area! 5 min walk down the bank to the lake! Beautiful.
