Guest Reviews
- Kirsten (1/5): Awful - Nothing. Terrible place. Needs to be updated on your website. Looks nothing like what is advertised on booking.com
Boarded up out front, signs everywhere on who to ring to check in and check out inc some of the phone numbers not working. No dining room as shown on website. Room was cold, beds uncomfortable, room was dated and dirty, bathroom stank of drains and dampness and was really scruffy with wall paper coming off walls. Fire doors propped open, no fire escape or exit, all doors to get out padlocked apart feom front door so no way of getting out if there was a fire, had to park down the street at another hotel despite paying 10 pounds to park, mo one on the building if ypu jave any issues like noise or safety, really mis sold and not safe.
- Geoffrey (2/5): - No breakfast,no facilities just very small room, very basic. Would only use for one night. It is NOT a hotel just rooms. Only saving grace, hosts ,where very nice. Everything.
- Lea (2/5): Not very good - Nothing! No heating, no TV and it wasn't the hotel advertised as we had to stay across the road
- Stacey (6/5): Good - Was lovely place felt very welcoming Room was a little bit small for the 5 of us so was very very hot in the room and only the smallest of windows in there
- Sarfraz (1/5): -
- Subash (6/5): - There is no any proper dining room available
- Salter (9/5): Great stay - Very Friendly Staff. Great location for what we needed.
- Melvin (7/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Nice warm welcome.
Friendly host.
Secure. Little bit noisey, squeaky floor boards from floor above.
- Emma (10/5): We will definitely be back. - Fantastic room. Beautiful bedding. Very comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. Lovely welcome.
- Brad (1/5): Absolute disgrace and disgusting - I took a nights trip to Blackpool with my 12 year old daughter, firstly we was told via text message we was being moved rooms then when we got there we actually was moved over the road to a run down hotel called Cadeby lodge hotel it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish the room was ridiculously small there was red stains on my bed sheets mould inside the kettle hairs in the shower and sink dried mud in the carpet the TV did not work I was harassed for a parking fee and texted 6 times while I was out spending time with my daughter I was stood at the door arguing with both owners as they wanted the parking fee in cash there and then I didn't have the cash on me as I needed a cash machine they wouldn't let me pay by card or bank transfer it HAD to be cash at the end the male owner said he would look after my daughter while I went to the cash machine which is a very VERY strange thing to say I then after that told them both to go away and I'll pay when I've been to the cash machine i then paid at 10pm as the woman owner decided it was a good idea to come a Knock on the door at that time of night not only that I received a parking ticket anyway while my car was on their drive how that happens I don't know. I would avoid the Melrose and the Cadeby at all costs I have reported them. Absolute disgrace a d a disgusting place and owners. The place is an absolute disgrace and a disgusting place the owners are a joke
- Kerry (10/5): Highly recommend - We had a good night relaxing it was quiet an will definitely be staying ther agen Nothing as it was exactly what we wanted perfect from chek in to chek out
- Hollie (8/5): cheap, cheerful, comfy, cosy and best host ever! - Host was absolutely amazing! she’s so friendly, warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, location is perfect!
rooms aren’t done fancy but have what you need and the beds was comfy, only thing i’d say is that it would be nice to have some tea and coffee already in the room, but we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again, if you want fancy and posh rooms this place isn’t for you, but it’s cheap, cheerful and comfy, we took our 5 children aged 13-2 and all enjoyed it and slept well too! no tea or coffee in the room
- Janet (6/5): It was near all the facilities - Location Very basic and tiny for a family room
- Emma (9/5): Great value for money & would stay again - It was exactly what we wanted - cheap and basic but had everything we needed. Beds were comfy enough, everything was clean, and the shower pressure was good. Good location not too far from the station and near the beach, and also not very loud (I was expecting it to be noisy, but it was really only noise from cars passing). Was very basic and a bit outdated but personally I think this gives it a bit of charm and was more than made up for by how cheap it was anyway. No issues with mould or damp as other people have said whilst we stayed (in the summer), maybe a little bit of a smell though? The staff were very friendly too. Definitely value for money & would stay again :) Check-in could have been a little bit smoother but we were only waiting about 10 minutes in the end for someone to get back to us so not too bad. Would have been nice to have some teaspoons in the rooms too (kettle & mugs were there - just no spoons) but we didn't ask for them - maybe if we had they could have been provided?
- Alia (3/5): -
- Harry (1/5): Awful - Everything beds damp
- Lauretta (7/5): We enjoyed our stay in Blackpool, we visited several attractions - It was clean & lady we dealt with was very nice & helpful The room & double bed? we're very small
- Laura (7/5): Nice location, clean and does the job. - It’s in a great location Nothing to dislike if you just want a room for a night or two.
- Benjamin (1/5): - N/A Still waiting on a response for a refund when I canceled the same day I would rather have some form of communication than none about this
- gary (4/5): - Location near to Winter Gardens The outside was boarded up, no sign, looked derelict. Rooms basic, just about clean. Pictures on Booking.com don't depict the actual look of the hotel on the inside.
- Shauna (9/5): A great stay in Blackpool - We booked the family room for a 1 night stay with 4 adults. We had a very pleasent stay, the room and ensuite bathroom was clean and tidy. The room even had tea and coffee making facilities.
The staff member who greeted us was polite l, friendly, welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful during our stay!
We pre booked a parking space and was directed to park about 3 buildings up from the hotel which was perfect when carrying luggage.
Price of this hotel is great and the location is fantastic for walking to local amenities including Blackpool tower, coral island and a morrisons local.
Thankyou for a pleasent stay and we look forward to staying again soon! My only slight criticism would be there is no obvious sign that it is the melrose hotel. It does have the 'house number' displayed on outside of property but it was hard to see while driving.
We had to look on Google map to see which other hotels are close by and figure it out from there.
However this did not dampen our stay by any means.
- Kay (9/5): Basic but clean room, lovely owner. Would return and stay again. - Eric was there to meet us when we arrived and showed us to our room. We were only staying one night so was ideal for our needs. Basic but clean and warm. Lovely comfy bed too. No towels were provided.
- Lisa (5/5): - The host Eric was lovely
The bed was very comfortable The windows were boarded up
No sign up
The shower didn't work
The rooms as freezing
- stephen (7/5): Good, would stay again for a little weekend. - Adequate for what we wanted. Eric the owner was very friendly and accommodating. Me and my partner enjoyed our stay. Had a great weekend and a warm room to come back too. The shower, it was hard to get the correct temperature it was either too hot or cold.
- O'Neill (9/5): The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They couldn’t do enough can not fault them at all - We got there late and the room was warm which is what’s needed on these cold nights
- Jeanette (7/5): Was good for the price uncomfortable bed but that is personal preference .bad shower leak .had to keep asking for milk . - Location Had to keep asking for tea and milk
- Holly (7/5): -
- dorothymay (1/5): Very disappointed - Nothing at all The whole experience
- Gary (10/5): -
- Dave (7/5): -
- Von (8/5): Blackpool - Eric and Marisa were excellent hosts and extremely helpful and polite The room is in need of curtains that fit and the single mattresses need changing. The double mattress was comfortable
- Linda (7/5): Overall a good experience - Location, pleasant staff, room was appropriate for our needs Slightly shabby aestht8c, understandable for foot fall
- Neil (6/5): -
- Danielle (7/5): -
- Adam (9/5): Staff were brilliant. Location couldn’t be better. Incredibly cheap and value for money - Property fully matched the description online. Perfect location. Friendly and helpful staff. Nothing
- Emma (7/5): - The owners were lovely and very helpful The room was very basic but it was as expected. You get what you pay for!
- Janet (8/5): - Host were lovely very helpful.the room was ideal just what we expected. Just the walk to get to it.
- Lauren (1/5): Do not stay there - Nothing It was like a prison cell
- Hayley (8/5): -
- Ellie (9/5): - The staff was very welcoming did everything they could if we need it was they was very friendly with my children all round the staff was absolutely amazing couldn't as for better that lady seen we had children she pointed us in best places for kids told us the was to town and places Not that I didn't like it was abit dated but it was a room that we sleped in the bedding was clean the bathrooms was clean and the staff was brilliant
- Melanie (2/5): Disappointing - Absolutely nothing, other than its location to the town centre. From the outside you didn’t know that the property existed as there was no signage at all and all the front windows were boarded up - we were in two minds about leaving our car there, let alone staying. We gave it the benefit of the doubt, but will never stay there again.
The room was small for a double and the bed was very uncomfortable. The ‘bathroom’ was so small that you couldn’t move - the tile work and waste pipe fixtures looked like it was a slap dash job.
There were signs everywhere with don’t do this, don’t do that and one even had something about don’t complain.
What we booked online on the basis of the photos, is definitely not what we saw when we arrived - it is the complete opposite.
Not worth the money.
- Dale (7/5): -
- Scott (10/5): Happy with what we paid and stayed - There was no sign in the fri of the hotel they said they were renovating which is fair enough we were placed over the road as there were the family rooms the room was clean had everything we need to sleep so was happy we will say again I’ve paid more for some really rough places so was definitely happy with this one Just need some signs up to find easier
- Rich (7/5): -
- Margarita (7/5): - Very good location. Friendly staff. Affordable proce. Clean.
- Fay (8/5): -
- Anna (10/5): -
- Geoff (7/5): -
- Donna (8/5): - Great stay, great location, lovely owner.
- Oliver (1/5): Would not stay again if the owner paid me . - Not much the owner was friendly Rooms were freezing I was given a heater but it didn’t help . I paid 40 pounds for king room the bed was a double and not comfortable . The hotel smelt damp probably because the heating wasn’t on .
The room was not clean with hair inside the pillow case , mold on the shower and slugs in the room !
- Lisa (9/5): -
- Julia (6/5): - The location was amazing 👏🏾 I would have liked more charging ports I our room.
- Debbie (5/5): - We were greeted by the owner who was very friendly and accommodating we arrived before check-in and was able to park the car (£10)and go out for the rest of the day.
Our double room was across the road from the main hotel but that didn't bother us,
The room was small but fully equipped,a little heater, kettle with 2 cups (coffee etc was in the hallway to help yourself)private bathroom and tv Dated deco but very clean.
They are in the middle of renovating. The bed although clean it was very uncomfortable... we felt every lump and bump not sure if it was the metal bed or mattress
Due to this unfortunately we both didn't sleep very well.
- mark (2/5): Bad! - Nothing Everything
- Phyllis (7/5): -
- Kerry (10/5): - Great location
Love Marisa
Parking is available
Will be back again, for the 3rd time Don’t let the front put you off. It’s being refurbished
- Emma (7/5): Good value - Wasn't in same building as advertised but was fine, lady who met us was lovely
- Kayleigh (6/5): Basic but clean - The owners were lovely and very accommodating, the room was basic as we expected so can't fault that and we just needed somewhere to lay our head for the night so if you need somewhere clean and a place to shower and sleep its perfect. It wouldn't be ideal for longer than a night in my opinion especially with a child in tow. I found the bed to be uncomfortable but my husband daughter had no complaints. The room was cold at night
- Rebecca (1/5): How this place got a rating of 7.8 is beyond me! - It's location It looks like an abandoned building!! Has an awful smell from the moment you enter.Rude management
- Kelly (6/5): -
- david (8/5): Great value for money hotel, perfect for short stay! - Great location, parking, and value for money.
- Bethanie (3/5): -
- Lee (6/5): OK for the price - It was good for one night stay for the price the roo. Was clean and beds comfortable Hard to find as no sign on front of hotel just white sign . Not allowed to take food in room or alcoholic drinks
- Nikki (6/5): - Comfy beds Shower very small
- Peter (2/5): - Location We reserved 2 carpaking spaces. When we got there, they wanted us to park one of the cars on double yellow lines. Saying it would be ok. Obviously we didn’t. We had 3rooms. The place was grotty. In ours, as you sat on the toilet. The toilet system came from the wall. I know the plcace was cheap. But you expect the basic standards…
- Mike (8/5): -
- Welsh (9/5): Stay for Fireworks - We went to Blackpool for the fireworks competition and booked a family room for us. The room was compact but we knew this before we went. It had everything we needed for our stay and was spotlessly clean. The owner was very friendly and went above and beyond for us.
Absolutely no issues whatsoever. A brilliant stay in a very adequate room at a very reasonable price. My only suggestion is maybe replace the double size duvets for king size, but this is more of my preference than necessity.
- sandra (2/5): - Location only Cardboard as key wae 2 codes 1 fir 2 doors get in other room all rooms got same codes not safe its not Melrose uts been sold chinese couple its more place workmen use stay get head down its not bb now as it was from before not recommended would stay clear pictures say it all loads more put but if that worth going to be it on ur own head wasted good money stay in this when so many bb in Blackpool
- David (5/5): -
- Katie (6/5): -
- Jayne (8/5): - Staff were pleasant, happy to help Being right at the top but suppose thats the thing booking last minute
- Tanya (10/5): -
- Zoe Raymond (7/5): - Nice little hotel. Good location. Cheap and cheerful. Lovely staff N/a
- Laura (1/5): Absolutely terrible experience and customer service! - Good location On arrival we were told we would be staying in another hotel to the one we had booked. Later in the evening the electrics blew when we turned the light on due to water in the electrics. The weather was very rainy which we know is beyond the owner’s control, however we were told that this happens when it rains so it was not only a fire hazard they knew about but something they had failed to fix. We were staying with a young family and we asked if there was another room we could stay in with working electric - which the owner agreed to. She explained we would have to move to another hotel they owned. They then left without us really knowing what was happening. After half an hour I rang her to find out what was happening. She was extremely rude and argumentative, she eventually came back to us about an hour later and shouted at us saying that she didn’t know what she wanted us to do as it wasn’t her fault. She was unprofessional and rude. When we eventually moved we were taken to stay in a room that wasn’t great it absolutely stunk of stale cigarette smoke. In the morning my husband awoke to having been bitten by what I can only assume was fleas or bed bugs. The hot water didn’t work. I sent a message to the owner and she didn’t respond until after we had left.
- Miszczak (10/5): -
- 昱琳 (10/5): - The host was very considerate and meticulous in helping us with the accommodation issues. The hotel is located in a very good area.
- Kate (8/5): -
- susan (8/5): - Location and communication Small room noisy toilets
- Sophie (8/5): Not as bad as reviews say - After booking and then reading reviews on trip advisor we was starting to worry about where we was staying, upon arriving the sign has been taken down and windows downstairs are boarded up, we was greeted on arrival by a lovely lady, she placed us in the hotel across the road as this was more child friendly, she was extremely helpful and couldnt have done any more, our room was adequate and the beds was clean, there was a tv in the room for the children to watch, and a small area with table and chair to make hot drinks. A coat rail and a heater incase we got cold, Fresh milk in the fridge for brews was great, also pop for the children. Yes the room had a few marks here and there but no where near as bad as the reviews stated.
- ben (7/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): - The room was very nice and clean and two bed was very comfortable Nothing

- Steve (1/5): DISGUSTING HOTEL ROOM INFESTED WITH BED BUGS!! - Location THE ROOM WAS INFESTED WITH BED BUGS
MY DAUGHTER WAS BITTEN BY ONE!!, WE ALL WOKE UP WITH THEM CRAWELING UNDER THE BED SHEETS!!!!
HAD TO LEAVE THE HOTEL IN THE EALRY HOURS OF THE MORNING FOR BETTER ACCOMMODATION
WHEN I RETURNED THE NEXT DAY SOME OF MY BELONGINGS WAS MISSING FROM THE ROOM!
WHEN I SPOKE TO THE RECEPTION THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I RETURNED
SHE FIRST ASKED HOW I GOT BACK INTO THE HOTEL? WHY ON EARTH ASK ME THAT ??? I HAD BOOKED FOR TWO NIGHTS SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN THE EALRY HOURS AS NOT 24HR RECEPTION.
SHE ACCUSED ME AND MY FAMILY OF BRINGING IN THE BED BUGS WHEN WE HAD GONE OUT IN BLACKPOOL FOR A FEW HOURS!!
THE RECEPTION MANAGER WAS WITH ANOTHER MEMBER OF STAFF BOTH ACCUSING ME AND MY FAMILY OF BRINGING IN THE BED BUGS!!. WHEN I RAISED I WANTED A REFUND SHE COMPLETELY TURNED ON ME ACCUSING ME OF BEING AGGRESSIVE AND DEMANDING I LEAVE BEFORE SHE CALLS THE POLICE !!@@
PLEASE NEVER STAY THERE!!!!!!
SHE WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY ACT NICE THEN WILL TURN ON YOU VERY VERY QUICKLY!!!
I HAVE REPORTED THE MATTER TO THE POLICE MYSELF AND I HAVE REPORTED TO BLACKPOOL ENVIRONMENT HEATH.
IF YOU LOOK UNDER BAD REVIEWS ON BOOKING. COM AND TRIP ADVISOR
THIS PLACE HAS SOOO MANY COMPLAINTS/WARNINGS REGARDING BEING INFESTED WITH BED BUGS AND ALSO THE RECEPTION MANAGERS BEHAVIOUR WHEN THESE MATTERS ARE BROUGHT TO HER ATTENTION!!!!
£10 for parking per night is a joke, you have to drive up on the main pavement, good luck not destroying your car suspension/tracking. as its not even level etc!
IN REPLY TO YOUR RESPONSE
We stayed in ROOM 2, if you check the review that was left in July another guest complained regarding BEDBUGS in that room, they posted pictures of their BITES! and also a doctor confirmed this!
Regarding your unprofessional staff, the moment I showed them pictures they became verbally abusive and I was told to leave when I asked for a refund, DO you think for one moment I would have my family return to that environment!!!!
- Amy (5/5): Below average - Staff friendly, good location Dusty and the curtain needed a good wash. Room was very small for a family room. Was overcharged for parking fri 7.30pm-sunday 10am charged £25.
