Guest Reviews
- David (4/5): - Owner was friendly, room clean. Shower and basin in on suite only cold water. No food available for. evening meal or breakfast so overall left disappointed.p.s no car park.
- Margaret (2/5): Cupboard sized room with an attic window - On arrival at 1.30, doors locked. Had to chap to get open. Given key and never seen anybody after that. Rooms were tiny with very soft uncomfortable matresses. Bathroom pokey. Attic window only opened an inch. But the biggy was i emailed re. Brreakfast and was tole breakfast was £12.50 for full english breakfast. On arrival were told no breakfasts on a sunday morning. The accomodation was paid in advance, otherwise we would not have stayed.
- Patricia (6/5): - The Inn has great food and drink options and the bar staff was friendly. The room was very hot and the skylight did not open, nor could you see out of it. The room and bathroom were very clean. I appreciated an in- room TV with channels that night as well.
- John (8/5): - I am 6'6" and currently have limited mobility following an operation. Stairs were a slight problem and i got room 3 which as someone else mentioned had sloping ceilings in parts but there were numerous 'mind your head' signs. Room was compact and clean with two single beds. Limited parking - i ended up being told to park on part of the pavement outside the inn.
Owner was very helpful but seemed to be pretty stressed with everything he had to do. Bar and restaurant staff were very attentive and welcoming. Food very good.
No breakfast
Would i go back - probably not with my current mobility problems but i would recommend to any others
- Joyce (4/5): - I would hardly describe the room as "a superior twin room". It was a very small room with twin beds and was very stuffy. I was unable to open the window. We asked about breakfast, but were advised that this was unavailable on a Sunday. I paid online and was emailed and asked to check in online. A few days after our stay someone telephoned me to ask whether I had paid or not! Fortunately, I was able to check my credit card statement and confirm that payment had been made.
- Karen (8/5): - Really enjoyed our stay. Accommodation was comfortable. Rooms were clean and warm. Staff were lovely and so helpful. We had a baby with us and Derek, the owner, kindly gave us another room as there was not a lot of space in the room to accomodate our portable cot. The food in the pub was really good too. Didn’t have the breakfast as we were visiting family but we enjoyed the evening meals there. Would highly recommend.
- Terence (6/5): - Reasonable value for money; well located for my holiday plans. Room had adequate facilities but roof window didn't close fully, so room got chilly. Shaver point/ light not working. Lack of secure cycle storage overnight meant using bedroom. Menu gave restricted choice for me, not a meat eater. Macaroni cheese, the only vegetarian option, was poor. Saturday breakfast was very nice and I was well looked after by Kirsty, to whom my thanks. Whole stay was spoiled by lack of breakfast on Sunday. I wasn't told this until Saturday evening and was not offered anything such as a box of cereals. I feel I should have been made aware of this from outset - I could have made alternative arrangements.
- Neil (8/5): - Does what it says on the tin!
- John (10/5): - Lovely pub friendly staff and atmosphere, ideally location for our trip to the bladnoch distillery that is located directly across from the inn.
Thanks.
- Julie (8/5): - Pub is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so you will have to go elsewhere for food in the evening.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really friendly, helpful staff
- Isobel (2/5): - no restaurant Mon & Tues so no dinner or breakfast available. No en suite when that was what was booked. had to leave and get alternative accommodation.
Have asked Hotels.com to get a refund - they are having difficulty getting in touch with the hotel
- David (10/5): - Handy, nice staff.
- John (8/5): - We loved our stay
Room was small but adequate for our stay
Food was great
Easy parking on the street
- martin (10/5): Fun relaxing evening and nice stay. - Trip towards ferry home back from weekend sporting activity. Very easy going, relaxed atmosphere no hassles - simple but comfortable room. Spent very pleasant few hours in bar with owner and local having great friendly chat on all manner of topics.
Very relaxing.
Great breakfast in morning to set me up for the day. Overall lovely experience and v happy to stay there again and hope too next time I’m in Scotland
- Paul (10/5): - Great little Inn in an ideal location for the Distillery
- Christopher (8/5): Bladnovk distillery stayover. - The food both for evening meal and breakfast were very good. Derrick is a great landlord and a pleasure to have met him and his staff.
- Allan (8/5): - Excellent staff very attentive with excellent service throughout and an amazing food as well
- Phillip (10/5): - Well placed for places of interest for the tourist. The food first rate.Parking obviously restricted but didnt cause us a problem.
- barry (8/5): a rare bargain in the B&B Inn sector - INEXPENSIVE STAY no breakfast provded .compact room but comfy single bed . Good food ,especiallyt as Friday night is discount fish and chips night! Nicely cooked and presented without over supplied chips - a common fault!
good local ale -unlike a lot of Scotland. Would stay again - bad points? telly didnt pick up any channels but probably easily fixed and parking on road only option.
- David (8/5): Great staff at Bladnoch Inn - The Bladnoch Inn staff were wonderful, very helpful and willing to accommodate any request (meals, water bottles, etc). The old Inn itself has great charm as a country pub. Located directly across the street from Bladnoch Distillery, so very good location for visiting that site, or Wigtown just a mile distant. Our room was very small and basic, but had en-suite and everything to make us comfortable. We enjoyed our short stay there.
- Allan (10/5): - The friendliness of staff and patrons wonderful food too all in all suited me down to the ground shall not hesitate to return to the Bladnoch
- Trioliet BV James (2/5): - No food in the evening no breakfast and on Tuesday night no bar either
Rooms basic but clean
Wigtown has no breakfast places either so have to drive to Newton Stewart 7 mile or so to get breakfast !!! Poor service if you are open for accommodation you should at the very least offer breakfast !!
- Victoria (8/5): - Fantastic pub,food,service.beautiful place.bedrooms a bit basic,but only cis of lack of clithes space
- R (2/5): Very Poor - Called in hotel more then 10 time ls no answer emailed no answer and hotel.com no human there and know the hotel door no one there -%100
For it
And I need my money back plus need to pay extra to my driver to sleep in van
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's in a very good location although the road outside can be a bit noisy. It's not continuously busy but you do get the occasional loud vehicle. Nothing a pair of ear plugs can't fix. There's also a small cashless petrol station very close - ideal for a fill up prior to leaving.
- Liam (2/5): Don’t use - Got there . Not open. Great night in the car thankyou
- Kirsty (10/5): Great place to stay - It was a very enjoyable stay and the food was great. Easy to get to Wigtown and surrounding places. The staff couldn't have been friendlier.
- Tony&Elaine (8/5): 5* food and top notch staff - For a pub this has the makings of a place to take a short break
Evening meal was as good as any during our trip which included a high class restaurant in Port Patrick.
Staff could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable.
A few things that need addressing
1:- no wifi connection
2:- accommodation very compact
3:- en suite not planned out well
4:- poor workmanship in the accommodation area
Having said that I wouldn't hesitate to stay again when in the area
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Near Wigtown where I was visiting friends.
It is at a pub with cheap food
- Simon (8/5): Wigtown book festival - Lovely stay .Very kind considerate staff .Perhaps attention to detail of decor in room and bathroom could be oart of improvement plan .Rip in wallpaper and loo seat swivelled !
Outside seating area has been done beautifully despite being on a busy corner .
- Bob (8/5): - It is a pub with excellent eating facility, located just off my route from central England to the Cairn Ryan ferries. Room was a 'shared bathroom' but there are 2 'on-suite' as well. Satisfied my need.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable place to stay, area well-worth a visit - The Inn is well located for a short break to explore the historic and scenic delights of the area. The room was comfortable and clean with a very adequate en-suite. A hearty Breakfast and an evening meal were readily available: the pub was obviously a popular local dining place--unsurprisingly, considering the well-priced good food.
On a summer's night, with an open window for air, the noise from the pub could be a little disturbing, until the diners went home, but ear-plugs solved the problem.
- Paul (10/5): A little gem in the back of Dumfries and Galloway. - Excllent VFM.
Good food, good beer, proper pub atmosphere. Friendly, on-the-ball, conscientious staff. Nice rural location but easy to get to.
- Martin (10/5): Excellent stay - I stopped at The Bladnoch Inn when visiting my brother who lives in the area.
I have no negative things to say about this Inn, it is excellent and the locals in the bar are very friendly.
The food served is home made and absolutely delicious.
Value for money = excellent
Would I stay here again? = definitely
- pauline (4/5): snuggle up to keep warm - it was bad weather when we arrived, cold and windy.our room was small only coat hangers to hang our clothes on over the radiator.heat wae set on timer and this seemed to come on late at night.we kept warm by going down into the bar to sit by the fire.i must say food and hospitality was very good
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic Pub Hotel - This is a charming pub with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were fantastically friendly and great to have a drink sitting next to a roaring fire. Only wish we had eaten at the restaurant as the food looked amazing! Next time! Down side was the room was twin beds and not large. But would definately go back and recommend on...
- Les W (10/5): Lovely country pub - Friendly staff, great location on the banks of the Bladnoch river. Good food: I are I'm the bar, but could have used the dining room if I'd preferred. A great centre of a cycling tour of the Isle of Whithorn peninsula - and for the book shops in Wogtown!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet pleasant Hotel - Most enjoyable 2 night break here. Lots to do in the surrounding area. Most impressed with the Galloway Forest Park. St Medan's golf course nearbye is beautiful wee course. Hotel very comfortable, food excellent especially Friday Fish Night. Only thing to watch out for when you book 2 rooms have a shared bathroom
- Gilz (10/5): Great hospitailty - Lovely little inn, very clean and well maintained. Service was excellent, could not fault it.
- Niklas (8/5): Great service - Thank you for arranging for us to get the room even after arriving in the middle of the night (flight delay). Great breakfast and hospitality!
- Helene (6/5): Pleasant enough for a room above a pub. - Small but clean and comfortable enough for a one night stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great staff - The staff where friendly and helpful, the beds comfortable I thought and the overall stay, which was only one night was great. The breakfast was fantastic too. Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very noisy, smelly and small
- Daniel (8/5): Bladnoch Distillery - Very friendly staff and good food. Perfect location just next door to Bladnoch Distillery!
