Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful host, delicious food, beautiful view and easy to get into town.
- Armistead (10/5): Nice stay in the country. - Nice stay ut in the country. Good breakfast. Michael can provide insights on where to go in the area and what to do.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy B&B - We would highly recommend staying here with Micheál. It’s a lovely countryside property with an adorable friendly black cat outdoors. About 15 minutes from Ballycastle but everything in the region felt very accessible.
He was prompt on our check in at 4pm, showed us our room and made some suggestions for our trip - his top 2 suggestions ended up being our favourites of the trip! (Much better than the causeway.)
Our breakfast was lovely - fried egg, back bacon, sausage, tomato, beans, and toast with spreads. Tea and coffee and juice. There were cereals if you wanted. Very filling and delicious!
He was also very gracious when we accidentally left without paying and sorted it all out over email easily.
We would certainly stay here again!
- Glenn (10/5): - As others have said, the host is very warm, helpful and interesting to listen to his love of culture and sharing life experiences. Excellent accommodation and beautiful views.
- Gregory (10/5): Lovely B&B - A beautiful B&B located near Ballycastle Northern Ireland. Friendly host and comfortable room.
- Erin (10/5): - The home was beautiful and the owner was very friendly and kind.
- larry (10/5): - The owners are great and welcoming. They have lots of suggestions on dinning, pubs and nearby attractions. Even gave advice on the route to take to get there (more scenic). The room was large and beautiful with a large private bathroom. We had a full breakfast every morning. This is a true bed and breakfast. We even learned some Irish words.
- Anne (10/5): - We stayed at this property for two nights as it is very convenient to all of the north and east coast attractions like Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-rede bridge, Friary, Dunluce and Kinmare Castles, and if you're a GOT fan, the lost village of Galboly and Dark Hedges were both close by as well. Our room was clean and tidy and had a double and a twin bed so would be good for a small family. Michael was very welcoming and gracious host and made several great recommendations for sights and local restaurants. The views from the property were amazing and its very quiet. It is not walkable for restaurants but they are a close drive of 10-12 minutes - we really enjoyed the Salthouse and O'Connors pub. A great stay and would book there again in future.
- Monica (10/5): - Very cute place to stay and rest. Beautiful surroundings and a great list of local recommendations
- Carol-anne (10/5): - Fantastic stay. Lovely hosts. Very knowledgeable about local area. Lovely en suite room. Would definitely stay again.
- Thomas (10/5): - Perfect location to explore the wonders of the Antrim coast. Our host Michael was engaging and even taught us a few words in the Irish language as a parting gift. A very pleasant experience with a hearty breakfast.
- Alex (10/5): - Friendly hoast, large comfortable room and great water pressure in shower.
- Jane (8/5): One night in Ballycastle - Michael was a great host with good tips for things to see in the area that you normally wouldn’t. Our stay was very comfortable
- Cammie (10/5): Amazing B&B - with an Irish language bonus! - Michael was an amazing host - happy to chat with us and to recommend restaurants and pubs in town, but also happy to give us our space. I enjoyed the chance to use my cúpla focal to converse as Gaeilge. Great room and amazing breakfast.
- Krista (10/5): - This place was fantastic! Rustic but close to pubs and restaurants. The owners were very knowledgeable about the area and had some superb suggestions for local sights I would have not found otherwise. Super clean and very comfortable
- William (10/5): - What an amazing B&B the owners are so nice and the breakfast was just as amazing the bangers and bacon are so local they come from just a few farms away. I wish I would have booked another night.
- janet (10/5): - Teach an Cheoil was an amazing stay and experience. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and we were even invited to attend an Irish Music Trad Trail (pub hopping & music) in Ballycastle with the hosts who play several Irish instruments, teach Irish music and Irish language. They are the kind of people who change the world by bringing back and continuing Irish traditions. Teach an Cheoil is a serene beautiful place with a spacious room, large bathroom, great shower, and view of surrounding emerald fields full of sheep grazing. The sunsets over the ocean were gorgeous too! Breakfasts were home cooked and delicious. We had such a great experience at Teach an Cheoil. We will definitely be back but will stay longer next time! Mahalo Michéal!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The accomodation felt absolutely nothing like the usual hotel accomodation (impersonal). It was set in beautiful surroundings and was a solely family run establishment. The said family were friendly and extremely helpful and I felt more like I was staying with my own family, only better! I would certainly highly recommend Teach an Cheoil to anyone wanting an extra special holiday experience.
- hrund (10/5): Lovely! - Lovely hosts, a very good and spacious room with excent bathroom, clean, good breakfast and beautiful location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Our host taught us so many interesting things about Irish culture, including music, history, and language. He was friendly and nice. The surroundings were amazing!!
- Robert (10/5): - This was a lovely hotel in a lovely location. Staff made wonderful breakfasts and were very helpful with local knowledge and services. Would highly recommend for a hotel in a nice quiet and scenic location. Thank you very much!
- Peter (6/5): Clean but not comfy - Breakfast was poor with the only cereal being Rice Krispies and a choice of strawberry or apricot jam. In the fruit bowl there was one banana, one apple and two satsumas. The bedroom was cold and we had to ask for the heating to be put on and we also had to ask for some milk. There was only one hard backed chair so watching TV was from the bed and there was no communal lounge. On the positive side, the propietor was very welcoming and friendly.
- Sue (8/5): - What I would expect from a B&B. Host was very helpful. Setting was beautiful.
- Peter (10/5): Scenic Location, Friendly owners - I had a pleasant 1 night stay at this B&B. I slept like a log in the comfy room and enjoyed the hearty breakfast.
- Mark (8/5): Comfortable and value for money. - Quiet and pleasant location, and spacious room.
The shower room was rather small for a not-so-large man.
- Geoffrey (10/5): The place to stay near Ballycastle! - This B&B was great - quiet location, but only 10 mins drive from central Ballycastle. Friendly, informative and helpful hosts, large room and ensuite, lovely breakfast. Lovely music at times from owners who play traditional Irish music. Would highly recommend this stay.
- gweltaz (10/5): - I had a wonderful welcome from this irish-speaking and musical family, as a fellow Celt I enjoyed it specially
- Shlomo (8/5): nice and welcoming - was quiet and satisfying
- Lorna (8/5): Friendly - Welcoming, good Wifi, good breakfast, very helpful when I asked for anything
- tessie (10/5): Great hospitality - Hosts were very kind and had willingness to help you with where to great hospitality!! Nice view of sunset as well
- Dan (8/5): Top stay near Bally Castle. - Small residence offering friendly Irish hospitality. I recommend looking at Michael's books
- Tom & Nancy (10/5): Great accommodation outside Ballycastle - Got to hear the children practicing their music which we very much enjoyed. Lovely family. Our room was nice with all the comforts a person could want. Very clean! Michael gave us a list if things to see on the way to our next stop. Very good, thorough list that gave us super photo ops. We would highly recommend their home.
- Helen (8/5): Peaceful and friendly - Located in the countryside just outside Ballycastle, this was a great base to explore this part of the causeway coastline.
Large, clean room. Good breakfast. Friendly owner full of tips.
Very good value for money.
- Robert (10/5): Absolutly recomended - Such a lovely place with nice people
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing view from the front steps. Wonderful hosts
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nothing Special - The host very nice and helpful but it was like staying at a friend house instead of a well run B&B. Grand father clock kept me up all night. Had to use a portable heater. I don't know why anyone else was impressed.
- Jason (10/5): Serene location - Everything was perfect, we hadn't been at a bed and breakfast we would have missed the bay which is just over the hill. Rooms were clean well-equipped. The beds were as good as any we slept in Ireland, but they could use new mattresses. It's in a great spot to launch your adventures in Northern Ireland.
- Tim (10/5): Just what we wanted - Nice little place, tucked away with lovely views. Very friendly, helpful owner. Very enjoyable stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfy beds in the country - Comfortable and clean room in gorgeous countryside. Michael was helpful and friendly and made us a great breakfast!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful Stay, Dogs Welcome, Will Come Back! - Wonderful host, the room had everything we needed and more (including coffee making facilities) and was nicely decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was really good, well behaved dogs welcome which is was a plus on the Emerald Isle. Amazing stay, wish we'd found you sooner and stayed longer, we will be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Translated as The Music House,it was a very enjoyable stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy B&B in authentic Northern Ireland - The hosts are very gracious with a lot of great advice and beautiful talent as muscians.
- Sarah (10/5): A beautiful place to stay - Michael was an excellent host. He filled us in on great things to do around town and gave us great directions. Thanks!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): The Garden of Eden in Northern Ireland. - Michael was a gracious and very welcoming host, the room fabulous and comfortable. Breakfast was both plentiful and tasty. The nature around brings one into a natural state of relaxation and contentment.
- Jeni (8/5): Really lovely family and great location. - Friendly and welcoming host, good breakfast and excellent location.
- Bob (10/5): House of Music - The innkeeper is a musician, poet, and extremely pleasant person. As we ate breakfast, we chatted with him about art, music, and suggestions for our vacation. This was our first night in a B&B in this Ireland vacation, and it was one of the best.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice stay. Katherine was playing flute music most of the evening, which set a nice Celtic ambience. I believe they had music students coming and going during that time, which was no bother except parking in front of the home was a bit tight when we returned from Ballycastle. Michael pointed us to places to eat and local attractions. Very relaxed atmosphere.
- Samantha (10/5): A lovely slice of Irish life. - Although I only stayed for one night, I left relaxed and refreshed. The hospitality was warm and welcoming and Michael was an attentive host.
A lovely traditional B&B, with some individual and unique touches. Looking forward to reading the book (ask Michael about the book he has had published) and to returning to enjoy all that this lovely B&B and Ballycastle have to offer.
- Amy (10/5): Out of the way and beautiful - My two nights here were terrific. The room was spotless and I really appreciated the little extras like water, coffee and tea on the bedside table. I read the website and took my hosts up on a banjo lesson too. There was indeed music in the house. A good spot from which to explore the coast and great advice from hosts about what to see that isn't on most tourist guides. Peaceful and fun.
- michael (8/5): - comfy room, friendly host, good value for money.
a small criticism- no shampoo/ shower gel, only hand gel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Teach an cheoil. - Micheal was a good and attentive host. The bedroom and en-suite were new. You had access to wifi. The only disappointment for us was despite the name meaning house of music we never heard any live music in our three night stay.
- Casey (8/5): Great little B&B near the sea - We stayed the night here after visiting the Giant's Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge the evening before. It's not in the village but a few miles out in the country so it took us some time to find it and we had to ask a couple locals before we found somebody who could give us directions. I would definitely recommend using a GPS or print out directions before trying to find it. Michael was great when we got there and gave us a great recommendation for a great local restaurant (which we had to drive back into Ballycastle for). It was late when we got back. The room was very clean and had a bathroom en suite so it worked great for the 3 of us. The beds were not the most comfortable I've slept on but they were fine. Breakfast was a delicious full Irish breakfast. Found out he didn't take credit cards but he told us to go enjoy our day (headed to Rathlin Island) and bring him some cash when we had a chance to visit the ATM.
- Neil (10/5): Would recommend to others - Good sized room, clean. Very helpful and friendly hosts. Good breakfast.
- Jerome (10/5): Go there - Lovely location, lovely people, slept like I was at home.
- Robert (10/5): Very friendly B&B - A very friendly B&B in a picturesque part of Northern Ireland. Room was large and comfortable. Very nice bathroom. Good breakfast. Friendly and interesting staff. The B&B is part of a family home so sounds of kids and musical instruments might bother some. Only slight downside is the location. The B&B is surrounded by fields so a 10 minute drive is needed to get to Ballycastle, the nearest town. Diolch yn Fawr.
- tricky (10/5): Nice welcome. - Lovely welcome from Michael. Nice quiet area, lovely scenery, good food.
