Caron (8/5): Fab location - Excellent location opposite the station and 2 minutes walk to the beach. A parking permit is provided for a £10 deposit. The car park is a 5 minute walk from the hotel and your deposit is returned on departure. The staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great. Only 1 small shelf in the bathroom. Nowhere in the shower to put shampoo or body wash etc (except the shower floor) No hooks to hang towels or dressing gowns etc The wardrobe wasn't full size so you couldn't hang dresses in it. Even my tops touched the base of it. These are small gripes that could easily be rectified.

Robert (8/5): I would gladly stay here again. - Easy to find and very friendly welcome. Pleasant room. Excellent breakfast. In exchange for a deposit guests get a parking permit for a car park just a few minutes away - but be aware to take the right-hand lane at the traffic lights! The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the town and the adjoining bar is a bonus. I appreciated the advice about going to Nothe Fort and the times at which the bridge opens.

My room was clean with a comfortable bed and the en-suite facilities were likewise very clean with a shower that was easy to operate. The breakfast was very good and the staff were keen to ensure that I was extremely well catered for. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Michael (7/5): It served my purposes well. - I chose to stay at the Clifton Hotel because of its location, immediately opposite the railway station and taxi rank - both of which I needed to use. The exterior of the building and the environment are a bit scruffy, but inside the hotel part of the building everything seemed to be clean and tidy, and provided everything I wanted. I asked for an early breakfast on my second day and that was provided willingly. I could not get the remote controls for the television in my room to work, but that may be due to my lack of technological knowledge. Perhaps some basic instructions can be provided in the hotel information folder.

Kerriane (5/5): Ok for a one night stop over, perfect location. - The location was great and also we were provided with a parking permit that made travel easier. We had a very short walk to beach, shops and restaurants. The initial look of the place is disappointing as needs a freshen up decor wise. When we first arrived we found the t.v in the room did not work. A gentleman in the pub went up to check it and then moved us to a different room where the t.v did work. The television is operated by two remotes. The staff here are very helpful and accommodating. The full breakfast is small but adequate. The corridor and carpets were very tired. A lick of paint and new carpet would make all the difference, especially when walking up to your room.

Olga (5/5): Alright for what it is - Lovely people running this place, doing their best, the room was quite decent and very clean, close to the station. You can’t really expect much from a railway tavern kind of stay, but when a random weirdo literally walked in into my room, that was quite a surprise to say the least. It was before noon, he didn’t even look drunk.. my suggestion to the owner not to let him get close to the place.. if I wouldn’t be fully dressed on my way out at that moment, I’d definitely call police. And please guys get some decent coffee for breakfasts! Lavazza from Tesco is cheap but would definitely make a difference.

Staff went out of their way to make the stay much more enjoyable, even putting up birthday decor on our breakfast table in the morning. They also catered very well to dietary requirements and went out of their way to provide gluten free sausages for breakfast. All in all a very positive stay in a great location
