Guest Reviews
- Maureen (2/5): Horror hotel - Did not understand the concept of a service dog. The lady working there was very rude about everything especially the service dog concept. The stairs going up were totally wet and our service dog slipped and rolled down about 5 steps and management did not show any concern. Small room with no television and someone was yelling off the balcony at all times of the night right next to us. Had to pay $250 dollar deductible fee besides room cost. Horrible place.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Keep your standards low and it's not so bad - It was an adequately clean room in perhaps one of the worst parts of San Francisco so I expected worse but it wasnt great either. Better than expected but wouldn't choose to stay there again. $250 deposit was ridiculous
- Naomi (6/5): - All of the bathrooms on level 2 were very unclean.
- Doug (2/5): - Mission district is amazing for food and nightlife. Stayed here because of that. Made a mistake roaches and bugs in the room. Crackheads in parking lot break on to your car (no security)
- DiAaron (2/5): - Unprofessional and dirty
- Steven (6/5): - This hotel is not for the picky traveler. I was in one of the rooms that has the private bathrooms and I found it basically to be what I needed. Bathroom was clean. The towels smell like Clorox. The bed was comfortable. The area was not the best but there was plenty of little restaurants and bars and stores to meet my needs. This is a hotel and also is a residential building. It was near the BART and walking distance to many places I needed to get to. If you are laid-back and not picky this hotel may meet your needs. Just get the room that has the bathroom in it.
- yael (6/5): Restless night - I stayed here back in 3019 and I rated this place 10 back then . However, this place time Je placed in a room where the mattress was “springy “ , noisy and lopsided The quality of mattress is so important.I don’t think I will come back. Sorry 😣
- Jose C (2/5): - I didn't stay in property. The property was completely misleading. Expedia shows only pictures of beds and top 2 stories of building. I don't care about graffiti or homeless but there gangs in area a and am sure they would have broken into my rental. When I examined property I was buzzed upstairs like in a prison cell. This property is shameful for Expedia to support. Had the pictures shown on site no one, not just me, no one would stay there. I have pictures to prove.
- 900eunicec (2/5): This place seems like the perfect hideaway for El Chapo.
Run away! - Horrible place that looks like a jail, loud music, people outside with open windows. Full of graffiti and surrounded by homeless. Nothing against them, but definitely not the ideal place to go on a romantic retreat!
- karl (6/5): - VERY Affordable. One day it was in 90s. No AC. Had to switch fans. Next day in 70s. No AC needed.
Loved the area. Diverse. Lots of mass transit available and easy to use. La Gaza is a great spot to eat. But only open to 2pm. :(.
Overall good value, but for sure no Hilton.
- Shelby S (2/5): - I have stayed at this hotel several times before the pandemic. Before it was fantastic and the staff were very polite. Under this new management it was like pulling teeth just to get a new roll of toilet paper. The hallways consistently smelled of urine, children were running around after hours in the staff never paid attention. I found several cockroaches in my bathroom and I've never seen that before in the 10 years I have been to this hotel. I would like a little bit of compensation.
- Ricardo (2/5): - Place was terrible. For sure my car would have gotten broken into there. Room did not have toilet or shower and place was disgusting
- Bradley (10/5): Historic building, among the finest SROs - I was avoiding homelessness by staying here and my purpose was so served.
- Jayden (10/5): Totally fine for what it is - I wasn't expecting much out of this hotel and it vastly exceeded my expectations. I'd come to San Francisco for a family gathering and my Airbnb host had to cancel at the last minute, so it was a mad scramble to find a hotel I could afford that wasn't in an awful location and which had a private bathroom. There was one private-bathroom room left at El Capitan and I booked it even with the awful reviews of it, and I figured worst case I'd have to scramble to find something else and file a dispute with my credit card. And I'm happy to say I needed to do none of that.
The room was clean, with no signs of bedbugs (even with the most thorough check I've done in my life) or cockroaches. Sure, the decor was dated and there were some things that were falling apart. And okay the TV didn't work and the wifi sucked, and I had to sleep with earplugs because my room was facing Mission Street and the single-pane windows didn't block any sound.
But the room was safe and clean and I had somewhere to sleep for a week, and it only cost me $80/night, which is an absolute steal most places and unheard of in San Francisco, currently the most expensive city in the entire country.
Would it have been nice if the sink didn't drip? Sure. Would it have been lovely if there were an elevator for my mobility-impaired ass? Absolutely.
I hope I’m never in a situation where I need to stay here ever again, but it was a perfectly fine room for an amazing price and it served its purpose for me.
- Evencio (2/5): - Absolutely worst hotel I have stayed at
- Fernando (2/5): - Unfortunately, it is the worst experience I had in my life. The staff didn't know how to operate the reservation system, the magnetic card key to open the door never worked so after the 1st day I left the hotel. And I have been overcharged; I will complain to Expedia about it. I want my money to be fully refunded.
- Joshua (2/5): Yikes - It doesn’t have private bathroom and was very dirty in general
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for what it is - The bedroom was good for the price, I was overall happy with the experience. The shared bathrooms were dirty, but doable. The price and location is right, just know what you're getting into. $250 deposit on credit card upon check-in.
- Zahid (2/5): - Sucks
- Kaolin (2/5): - No in-unit bathroom or shower. It's public and you need to walk through the hall with your towel.
- Ramon (6/5): Expensive deposit - To much deposit amount , for that place and area
- Roberto (2/5): Worst Hotel in the WORLD - I have been in more than a few trip all throughout my life.
I have never ever seen a place and have the worst experience in my life by stating at this place.
The pics are deceiving, because the real product is horrible. I just can even start to explain myself about this hotel. Cero cleanliness. Cero safety. Cero customer service
- Emily L (2/5): - It was dirty outside also the walk in place to the hotel. No key u always gOtta buzz in. It sucks
- Catalina (10/5): - One of the best. No complaint.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The building is in poor shape, it smells terrible! The rooms are “lack luster” the beds/bedding AWFUL.
- Cameron (6/5): Horrible - The rooms don’t have their own bathroom there’s like a bathroom that you have to share with everybody on the floor the rooms are small and cramped no AC in the rooms they give you a fan that’s too dusty to blow out air trash everywhere outside I do not recommend last option for sure
- Verified traveler (2/5): - They never found my reservation and still charged me I demand my money back. They only have a bathroom per floor. PER FLOOR so it very unhealthy specially now days. The stuff was not helpful at all and said I’d get the money back but never received yet. I want my money back I did not stay there you could not find my reservation even though I was providing my reservation number. Weird but you could take my money huh?
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place is a dump. There were no
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and centrally located in a trendy area to most the sights.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Ridiculous
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hotel was an absolute dumpster. We parked in the back and there was no way we would be able to leave the car there all night without it being broken into. Went in to check in and the manager was rude and wanted to charge us $250 deposit for the room and re-charge the room at a higher rate when I had already paid through Expedia. Needless to say I asked for my cards back and stated we would not be staying the night. This is the place where nightmares are made.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Get what you pay for. - Bathrooms were gross and unkempt.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was very courteous and helpful. They seemed a bit chained as to room availability through the stranglehold of the hotel apps they're signed up with..
- stacy (4/5): - My wife and I enjoyed it but we didn't like the fact that there is no toilet or shower in the same room
- Charles (4/5): - Refrigerator next to the bed is very annoying only 1 set of towels for 2 guest
- Nucolas (10/5): El Capitan Hotel was perfect for my short stay - Nice place
- Tony (2/5): No hotel and no money back - When I show up there I wasn’t aware that they have a $250 deposit so I ask the guy if I can get a refund and he refused not to give me my money back witch sucks. I call customer service and they refused not to give me my money back so this place is not only a scam but they going to end up stealing your money
- Jennifer (2/5): WORST place ever! - The hotel is falsely advertising. The building looks nothing like the photos. The building is completely vandalized. It's not safe. There's bedbugs. No wonder they don't do refunds.
- Juan (10/5): - Everything is great and clean in and out they where nice to us and help full
- Roger (10/5): Best kept secret in San Francisco - Staff is friendly rooms are clean and the price is the best in San Francisco
- yael (10/5): Nice find - For the price I paid, I was pleasantly surprised. Clean towels and bedding and no bed bugs. That’s all I asked for. Excellent location, felt safe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hi Folks-
I've stayed at this property twice now and wanted to share my experience and hopefully offer some perspective when considering El Capitan Hotel as a place to lay your head when visiting San Francisco.
First, let me tell you why I choose El Capitan. I just moved from San Francisco and need to come to town periodically for work. I could crash with friends etc...however this isn't always conducive for early mornings or needing some time to decompress alone. Enter El Capitan Hotel...this place has been a safe haven for me twice now when I needed this most.
If you've ever been to San Francisco then you understand just how excessively costly it is. When I travel I need very little:
- A clean room with a bed
- Access to WiFi
- Ability to close my door and be alone
This establishment is seemingly run by a family which is so lovely.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was fine for a night in the city the sheets were clean the comfoter was stained the room was lacking the floor was sticky but we didnt see bugs and the toilet worked but dont expect to get a nice shower. But hey it was better apportioned than places Ive stayed backpacking. The location is great for catching a show or a night out on the town plus you can get up and walk to tartine for breakfast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): BED BUGS live in this hotel - I was attacked at this hotel by BED BUGS. Had over 56 bites after a 2 night stay. The Management had no empathy and even when I showed the front desk an ACTUAL bed bug, they told me they'd NEVER had them before. I bet they rented the same room out the very same day/night. Would NOT recommend.
- Darrin (4/5): Would never stay again - There was only paid parking available. Or meteted parking. I was 10 minutes late on the meter. $180 fine. Only shared bathrooms and showers. No heat. A terrible place. By the time I learned all if this I couldnt find another place to book. Besides, no refunds here anyway
- GJ (4/5): - Room is not upto the mark to be called as Delux. room kind of old. and the Fan!! it makes noice all nights and it does not work properly no locks inside the room(washroom and the walk in closet kind of place) works well. on a whole not so satisfying place.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It’s very noisy and they’re we’re rats in my closet!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There is only one bathroom per floor if you get a shared bathroom space. That wasn’t the problem, the smell of urine in the place because of the amount of urine on the floor in all of the bathrooms that never wax cleaned was horrible. Couldn’t shower for the same reason. Completely unsanitary and disgusting. I’ve stayed in hostels in third world countries MUCH cleaner than this place.
- Roger (8/5): Unbeatable price - Nice only issue was very cold no adjusting heat bring a small heater with you and it would be perfect
- Lena (8/5): Fine for the price. Know what to expect. - Old school hostel style hotel- clean, tidy, minimal rooms with shared bathrooms. The bathrooms appeared to be serviced once a day, but plumbing issues and heavy use proved to be a bit more than the staff could keep up with. Bring soled slippers or sandals for bathroom trips. Amenities are few and run-down and some of the clientele are iffy... it's an old place in an old neighborhood- know what to expect and don't look for modern hotel standards, and it's a completely passably comfortable place to stay. (Note: My biggest fear with these old, lower-end hotels is bedbugs- happy to report that we had no run-ins with any insects or pests of any sort.)
- Julie (8/5): - Very basic seemed somewhat clean fairly comfortable sketchy area
- Larry (8/5): It's all about VALUE - PROS:
-Good-sized room
-Clean room
-Strong Wi-Fi connection speed
-Convenient location near BART/MUNI
-Surrounded by lots of shops/stores for anything you need, at any hour
-Excellent value for the price
-No bed bugs that I could see
CONS:
-Super sketchy neighborhood
-Shared bathrooms are plenty, but could be kept cleaner
-Staff could be friendlier
- Julio (6/5): - Bed was clean. Got a good night sleep. Its a city, expect city noise.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This hotel is horrible, staff at reception most impolite and rude. No amenities are available at this property. Not to be considered for any kind of Traveller.
- Thomas (10/5): El Capitan Mission Street San Francisco - Safe, clean, and friendly hotel at El Capitan. Rooms are updated and clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall the room was clean. I didn’t read the reviews before I booked the room. But to my surprise the room was clean. The front staff was kind and even held onto our suitcase for us while we roamed the surrounding area waiting for our room to be ready. The bathroom was alright (it wasn’t the cleanest, but it also was not the dirtiest) and the shower was decent. No bed bugs that I could see and my husband and I didn’t get eaten alive. The radiator was stuck on which made the room hot, but with the fan on and the window open we were fine. For the price I’m over pleased. But kinda wish I would have paid a little extra for a room with both a shower and toilet in the room. But overall was not a terrible experience. Also there is no elevator that I could find and you must be able to climb stairs to get into the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - ......................................................
- Michael (10/5): - I loved this place.. it’s not fancy but the room had an old school charm that can’t be had in a newer building... it was clean and the hot water worked good.. get a room with a private bathroom if you can..
- Jerome (2/5): - 5This property, above all else, is misrepresented here, on Expedia, and I am compelled by this initial discovery to question the veracity of Expedia, in general. More on that later....Nevertheless, the hotel frontage is NOT lit, and it’s situated quite far from the BART station you arrive in. The neighborhood is sketchy at the station, and gets worse and worse the further you go from it, and the closer you get the the hotel.
Once we arrived, we had to climb a long flight of stairs, and being disabled didn’t help, as there was no readily evident disability access. At the top of the stairs, you’re met by a shielded front desk, shielded with bulletproof glass. And for good reason!i was nearly mugged in front on the way 8n. The attendant was rude, and despite the late check in (11pm), our reservation was not registered by Expedia, and the hotel had no clue. The leek ultimately reli d on ME to call Expedia, and straighten things out. Service at the highest level! Needless o say, the room wasn’t ready (nor would I ever be).
I promptly call d Expedia, and upon doing so, began protesting the misrepresentation. They seemed accommodating. But, that was a facade. They transferred me to the ‘relocation’ department, who then sent me across town, back through the awful neighborhood I just cut through, with luggage in tow, back through the hoodlum gangsters, and on to the embarcadero. There, upon arrival at the hotel assigned by the relo dept. representative, same resul
- destany6 (2/5): - we were not able to make it, they refused to refund us for our missed stay!
- Rena (4/5): - Pro- it’s convenient
Con- I paid in advance for a one bedroom private bathroom and when I checked in they said they gave it away. The shared bathroom was so disgusting, I chose to shower at my gym. The toilet room smells like 💩.
It’s dangerous and ghetto outside. Think about this, the staff hide behind bulletproof glass. Charging $250 potential damage for a $70 room that has no bathroom is ridiculous.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Guest - very dirty and smelly. Kitchen area is luck of everything... long stairs and carry luggages ... area is noisy and not safe. It is no place to stay with kids. Toilet blocked by things and not fixed one of the toilet while we stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Unhygienic wasrooms..pee on the floor , pee everywhere
- Brooklyn (2/5): - I tired to call to cancel but no one answered the phone
- Clementine (6/5): - The rooms kinda small and a little creepy to be honest
- Ehsan (2/5): - Everything was terrible and we couldn’t stay there. Please refund my payment.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I heard a lot of bad stuff about this place but its pretty decent. The bathroom is
- Valentina (2/5): - It’s horrible. It’a a mess. In the restrooms was pee all over the floor, the toilet was broken, the Windows of the rooms the same.
- JR (2/5): - Staff were friendly. Room was old but clean. Bathrooms were disgusting. Neighbourhood was sketchy
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I will says they have to improve more on everything they need to renew the entire hotel to make look better
- RomanLevit (2/5): - Please avoid this hotel like the plague. I booked a hotel and they told me that all rooms are booked so I didn’t get my reservation!
I called Expedia to get a refund a week later and EXPEDIA REFUSED to give money back. Money wasted for the hotel and for the parking besides it.
Expedia just lost a customer!
- Ben (4/5): Terrible - Terrible, but only $63.00
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This prooerty is absolutely filthy the small rooms had cracks all around the floors and walls and the baths looked like they were 100 years old and never been cleaned. When i complained the idiot on the reception just shrugged his shoulders. I moved out on the erd day expedia hang your heads in shame you obviously havent been to this s..t hoke and checked it have you
- snwbr12 (2/5): COMPLETELY UNHYGIENIC!!!! - WORST.EXPERIENCE.EVER! Do not make the same mistake as I did booking this place. It was completely unsanitary, it smells like cat piss and there are bugs biting you in the bed. People is unhygienic (yes, there are people living here!) and the bathroom and tube were awfully dirty and stinky. PLEASE, DO NOT BOOK THIS DUMP!!!
- Remigius (2/5): A POOR EXCUSE FOR A HOTEL - RIP OFF CITY USA
- Dominic (2/5): - This hotel is terrible first of all there's no bathroom in your room you have to share a bathroom with all the other guests the bathrooms smell like urine the hallways smell like urine. Even the comforter on our bed smelled of urine. I slept I top of the bed with towels underneath me. Also it was a little hot & there is a small air conditioner in our room but the cord doesn't reach to any of the outlets. so you can't even plug it in. It's useless. I had to sleep with the lights on because of fear of bugs this place is horrible I will never stay here again I'd like to get my money back but I'm sure that's not going to happen so at least I can save others from this hellhole...
- Htebilil (2/5): - False advertising. The building looks like skid row. Graffiti, trash, smell everywhere.
- Shasha (8/5): - When I arrived my room smelt clean and it was. I had a private bathroom witch I would suggest getting. The staff constantly mopped the floors and kept the hotel clean. The hotel had on site laundry $1.50 for washing and drying. And an on-site kitchen.
If your looking for a fancy hotel look else where. This is a very basic hotel in a convenient location to cafes shops, and the subway lines as well. They also charge $250 for a security deposit. My stay here was fine and I didn’t have any problems. If your a skateboarder it’s a perfect location because 3 up 3 down is a few blocks north on Mission street as well as Soma Skate park.
- Ali (10/5): A Fine Trip - It was amazing. My experience was solo. It was an exciting trip. It was an excellent experience.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - What a mistake it was to book at this absolute dump! Very dangerous surroundings and an overall very bad neighborhood! Shared bathrooms that reeked of bad smells and terribly filthy conditions! I checked out at 3 in the morning because I didn't feel safe at this drug-infested long-term resident half-way house for very shady characters. DO NOT stay at this place no matter how low the nightly rate may be. Not a safe nor clean place at all.
- Nathan (2/5): Very low standards - It’s in a bad area, there is no air conditioning or ventilation in entire hotel/room, one bathroom is shared with entire hotel, one bathtub and the room it was in was flooded, and homeless/mentally ill people were screaming all night outside my window. Worst stay I’ve ever had. Never again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - bathroom was not clean, it was a little noisy , room was too small
- Sus (2/5): - I was surprised that the property is in a very sketchy part of the city not just that I was harassed by tenants and they called me names I tried to keep my cool as they initiated the quarrel, I tried to check out and get a refund but it was not approved by neither the hotel nor Expedia , there’s smell of weed and what looks like homeless individuals that stay for prolonged periods of time , I’m not saying that to be condescending but it’s a horrible stay , and I was beat up by a lady close to the hotel and she got arrested , one things for sure if you are looking to have a good time and get peace of mind this place isn’t for you , I had to use a filthy bathroom that was common to numerous tenants and they didn’t even flush the feces from the toilet seat , the owner who’s a foreign speaker can hardly speak comprehensible English couldn’t care less , this place need not to be in business one word horrifying horrible stay away from El Capitan
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This hotel is not a place to take your family. It is in a very unsafe part of San Fran. When my mother and sister and I arrived at our hotel we say prostitutes on the street corner (one was visibly pregnant) as well as bums and junkies everywhere. There was human crap on the side walks and trash everywhere. All the businesses had bars over the doors and windows. There were bars on the entrance for El Capitan and you had to wait to be buzzed in by the office which wasn’t always easy to contact. We ended up getting a different hotel because we felt unsafe. There’s no way I would have gone out after dark. Also there is no safe place to park your car. Upon further research we found that there were many incidents where customers had been bitten badly by bed bugs. DO NOT STAY HERE. I usually stay in cheap places and I don’t need a lot out of my hotel room but I draw the line at safety and cleanliness.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Decent location and cheap rates but for a reason - the rooms are basic but the shared washrooms awful, not clean, water everywhere and lacking basics like toilet roll.
- Jasmine (6/5): Ridiculous Deposit - The hotel is an okay place comfortable enough to sleep in but its not worth a $250 deposit! Cash you get it right back after they check your room, but with card it will take 3-5 business days. and wifi wouldn't connect either.
- Tony (4/5): - It is a particularly rugged area. I have travelled extensively around this world and as a male, well able to defend myself, found myself for the first time ever, arranging various items against the bedroom door that would have woken me if someone tried to enter during the night.
I would note that I am entirely comfortable staying in a range of locations in Manhattan that might be generally seen as 'rough' - this particular street / immediate precinct is truly tough.
I would not in anyway recommend the location to a single female.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Thanks for helping with clean hotel for short visit
- Daniella (2/5): The Nasty Capitan DISGUSTING - I am not a picky person and never leave reviews, but felt compelled to save you from a nightmare! This place should be listed as a NASTY HOSTEL / DUMPSTER and the name should be changed as El Nasty Capitan. The worst part is the shared bathrooms which stink like urine, there are hairs everywhere, no toilet paper, showers are disgusting, if you don't wear sandals to shower, you will get fungus on your feet, guaranteed! Toilet paper full of feces everywhere! I had to drive to Mcdonalds to pee and poop. Those bathrooms which are used by homeless people were cleaner than the ones at El Nasty Capitan. I saw a guy "mopping" with a black mop, so gross! We slept on bed with covers on, the window overlooking analley with dumpsters was broken, sink in room only had boiling water, you can get 2nd degree burns while brushing your teeth. Super loud, ypu gotta ring this super loud bell so they open this jail like gate to enter and the bell wakes you up every 5 minutes. The area is super sketchy, dirty, full of drug addicts, homeless people looking on the streets for cigarrette buds or anything they can find. Parking lot and building is full of graffitti which some pieces are nice, but just tells you how bad the area is. Parking is $15 the night and got to take car out at 7 am or another $15 is due. Hard to find parking on streets and if you do, you will stay awake all night thinking your car will be broken in. Do NOT STAY AT EL NASTY CAPITAN, not even worth $20 a night.
- Josephine (8/5): Helpful receptionists - The people behind the desk at El Capitan were really lovely and helped us out a lot! We weren’t leaving San Fran til 10pm and they let us leave all our luggage and even leant me a charger to charge my battery pack! Such friendly service and a lot cheaper than any other accommodation we could find! The bed was comfy and the room had everything we needed for our short stay. The bathrooms felt a bit dirty but that’s all I can fault!

- Verified traveler (6/5): - Steep flights of stairs...no lift.
The kitchen did not appear to be a shared space.I felt uncomfortable when I attempted to use the facilities.( other guests using the space, not sharing).
Many children present, playing in the corridors of where I was staying.
Bathrooms...all of the three showers, bath combinations dirty, stained, wet floors and smelly.
The 2 toilets available where my room was were very dirty, overflowing smelly rubbish bins, wet smelly dirty floors. I did complain.,& was shown a much better bathroom over other side of stairs. On this side of the floor ,the area was cooler, lit better, nicer carpet and no smells and no children.
Room was adequate, with a fridge and hand basin.
Room hot.
Pedestal fan, no air conditioning.
Very noisy directly over the street
The staff...dealt with questions ok.
My second time at this hotel.
Will I return.,only if I can specifically have a room in the “ nicer part”....
The location is fantastic..
- Jay (2/5): - Very dirty shared bathroom and also inside wash is not working of cool water. And smell is very sucks.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Place was fine for what you paid.
Only issue I have is that I have now been waiting 12 days for my bond back! Is there a contact email I can discuss about this, as I can not find one online.
- Alejandro (2/5): WANT A REFUND - I WANT A REFUND!!! The hotel is NOTHING like the pictures on the website!!!. It was so horrendous I didn't even stay! I deserve a REFUND!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - After reading the reviews we made the decision to take a loss on our non refundable room and stay elsewhere. I called to let the hotel know we would not be staying but they could not understand what i was saying, he did not speak clear english.
- Ruben Francisco (6/5): Customer service - Receptionist can be more friendly and don’t make faces for any question.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The hotel does not have a bathroom in your room and the communal bathrooms were nasty. There was no air conditioning in the rooms although they had in the hallways. It reminded me more of a boarding house than a hotel, will not go there ever again. Also paid for my room completely on Travelocity and yet was required upon check-in to place a $250 deposit on my credit card. Also did not feel safe outside the hotel when I was waiting on my transport to the airport. It was 9:30 at night and we had to wait outside with the seedy side of SF walking past us.

- Martin (6/5): Good budget hotel - The hotel was very mid tier. The bed was fine and the room was equiped with a fan and a window which made it capable of reaching a comfortable temperature. There was also a fridge, a tv, and a sink in the room. The bathrooms were missing toilet paper a few times and some didn't have sinks and had wet floors. The showers were pretty good when compared to the condition of the bathrooms. Overall they weren't disgusting and were very usable. The area around the hotel had a lot of great restaurants and night life but also a lot of homeless and shady figures. I never felt unsafe but could see some having an issue with it. For those looking for a cheap place to stay a few nights in San Francisco but are worried about a bad place, this is a great budget hotel. Definitely not a good place for a nice family vacation in my opinion
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I liked nothing. They hit me with a $259 cleaning deposit after I paid for the room, than proceeded to say they would not cancel my room. I was charged 100 dollars and could not stay in the room. Hotel is a rip off
