- Ian (10/5): Up to usual high standard - It was really excellent. The food and attention given to us by the staff, was first class. Nothing was too much and we felt really at home.
The room was very comfortable and the shower was very warm and pleasant. Good parking.
We will return again. We have enjoyed all of our previous visits.
- Cathal (8/5): Good food and nice room - Food and service were very good.
Rooms are a bit tired but does the job.
- John (10/5): - Easy and welcome contact with staff at any time
- Robin (10/5): - A fantastic find. Quiet, comfortable, friendly. Just what we needed!

Will was a star!
Would definitely recommend.
- Dave (10/5): Northumberland Delight - Little gem of a place. Excellent food and service. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Paul (10/5): - Friendly staff, nice room and great breakfast.
- Allan (6/5): - Friendly and helpful staff but it took a full 10 minutes of running the tap to get some warm water out of the basin tap.
- Paul (10/5): Excellent food. - Very friendly place with fantastic food and traditional bar area, rooms are a little old fashioned but very comfortable, I would definitely stay again.
There's also a carpark to the side so no issues with parking.
- Bruce (10/5): Good place for business trip - 2nd time stayed there and all amenities in room, if being critical not instant coffee please. Great dinner and breakfast, everyone friendly
- Janet (10/5): - Stayed for 1 night, the evening meal was lovely and catered for my gluten intolerance. Breakfast was even better with a real 'full english', all gluten free.
- Stuart (10/5): - Great location to explore Northumberland
- Verified traveler (4/5): Worst night’s sleep. - The worst nights sleep I’ve had in decades. Mattress was horrendously thin and worn. You could feel and hear every spring as you lay down. I had to put all the spare pillows underneath me to create a bit of padding to stop the springs digging into me. Shower had black stationing in the grout. Very tired place. Not worth the rate charged
- JACKIE (10/5): Delicious pub grub - A lovely friendly and welcoming place.
Our room had a great fresh and clean smell as we entered and when I requested extra little milk cartons I was asked if I preferred fresh milk - oh yes.
The beds were very comfy. Just what we needed.
A table was reserved for our evening meal and it didn't disappoint. I hadn't expected the possibility of a roast Sunday dinner on the evening, and it was amazing, delicious and I didn't leave a scrap. My hubby was just as thrilled with his steak and ale pie. Very tasty meal. Couldn't fault it. The wall near the bar had a number of awards and a current one too. Would definitely recommend.
The same staff were up the next morning serving breakfast and nothing was any trouble. Everything was well presented and the cooked breakfast was piping hot .
A family run pub and I would definitely return
- Christine (10/5): Enjoyable stay - Had one night at the Granby Inn but it won’t be our last. Very friendly hosts. Lovely spacious bedroom, very comfortable bed. The meal in the restaurant was excellent, excellent service. Breakfast was just as good. Very friendly pub and will visit again.
- Bruce (10/5): Business trip - Food excellent and friendly, room clean and functionable
- Daniel (8/5): Basic but comfortable - Stayed at the Granby Inn for 1night for a business trip whilst working on a remote project.
Location - Very convenient position for visiting Cragside, Hadrians Wall etc and easy to access from Morpeth and surrounding villages.
Comfort - Bedrooms are basic but clean, hot shower, WIFI and plenty of sockets. Would have preferred a small table rather than a recess in the storage to work at but realise this isnt required for everyone. It is above a pub however isnt particularly noisy. The floorboards are very creaky so you do hear other residents outside your room walking up the stairs and past your room.
Food - Dinner was very good and breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. I had eggs, mushrooms and beans with toast and a yoghurt to follow.
Welcome - Staff are polite, courteous and friendly.
Overall - If you're looking for a place to stay that's clean, friendly and inexpensive this could be ideal. If you want luxury then this isnt for you. I thought it was great for my needs.
- Brian (8/5): - Room clean and comfortable and food good. Staff friendly. Only down side front room abit noisy from traffic
- Gareth (10/5): Short 1-night stay - Lovely Inn for a short 1-night stay. The staff were very accommodating letting us check in early so that we could get ready for a wedding we were attending that day. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was also really nice and staff very attentive. Would definitely recommend.
- Simon (8/5): Hidden Gem - Little Gem of a discovery while working away in the North east
the room was lovely and I was a little worried about the road noise being on the front but not a sound .
Staff were all very helpful and the food was amazing . Do Not miss out on the breakfast
- IAN (10/5): An enjoyable return visit - As always, very friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast and evening was excellent, albeit a little highly priced.
Comfortable room and good separate walk in shower.
Overall good value for money.
- Jamie (10/5): Diamond of a place - Great find. Stayed for work. The room had everything i needed. The host couldnt do enough for me. Made to feel so welcome. Food downstairs in the restaurant was amazing too.
- Peter (8/5): Great English pub with rooms - The Granby Inn is a lovely “Old
English countryside pub” with a few rooms upstairs. We stayed on a stopover but the countryside around is definitely worth a longer stay. Our room was very big (twin, no 4, at the back) not modern but clean and very comfortable. Good bar and restaurant with good food and service, we will come back and would recommend a stay.
- Paul (8/5): Very Short Stay - Literally only there for 14hrs.
Arrive, Wash, Sleep, Early Start, Shower gone.
Staff very polite and helpful. Hotel looked great and served its purpose.
Many Thanks
- Pamela (10/5): Excellent stay at the Grandy Inn - My husband and i stayed two nights at the Grandy Inn as we were attending a wedding in the area. We loved our stay from start to finish. It was so clean, the food was amazing and all the staff were so friendly. We will definitely come back to stay again in the future.
- David (10/5): golf weekend - Ideal for a nights stop with excellent food
- Ian (8/5): Pleasant and Relaxed Stay. - Very pleasant staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Good size and comfortable room and ensuite facilities- excellent shower. Good, tasty food. A little updating would be good. Fair value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent food ,staff and facilities were the positives .The only negative was that the remote location meant no mobile phone coverage on the "Three " network which is no fault of the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The available gluten free English breakfast was much appreciated. THANK YOU
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff, very welcoming, and excellent home cooked food. Nice, comfortable room. Would happily stay again any time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): 3 Day Break - Very enjoyable stay. Staff and owners very friendly and helpful. Only drawback was the traffic noise early mornings.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly Staff, great food, Ideal location to explore the North East and coast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very cosy place to stay very clean with friendly staff and excellent food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A great place to stay. Clean, efficient, economical, with good food.
- Kevin (10/5): Jewel in the North - Really first class stay in a local friendly hotel.
Locals come from all around to have evening meals.
I felt right at home and would recommend any time
- Moira (8/5): Comfortable! - I have stayed several times at the Granby. Always very pleasant and super food in their restaurant.
- Jenny (10/5): - Breakfast was served 8-9 am and I had to leave by 8, but the chef was able to do an early breakfast for me and I was made to feel very welcome.
- JIan (6/5): Filth smelly carpet welcome - Accomodation was very tired with the filthiest and smelliest carpet on the stairs that I have ever seen. It does seem as though some improvements are being made but that carpet should be a priority. Staff are nice and friendly and the food was good.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dreadful - I wasn’t alive in the 1970’s but after one night in this establishment I feel like I was. Every expense is spared and the rooms are awful as are the communal areas. Everywhere looks dirty and is in desperate need of an update. The TV was the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel room. There were also people smoking outside our room so you can look forward to an audience whenever you look out the window at any given time of the day or night.
It’s incredible that there is an AA 4* sticker in the window, I cannot imagine how it would relate to this property. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about the room or facilities. Breakfast, on the other hand, was very pleasant but not enough to redeem the multiple other failings! Stay elsewhere!
- James (6/5): Excellent Food - Staff friendly food excellent, room ok although bathroom poor
- June (8/5): Good locationGood location - Lovely pub, good food and helpful staff.
Our only complaint would be about the room, bed was comfy and the room was big enough.
The problem was how light the room was we were awake very early 4ish needed thicker curtains or blackout blinds.
Also when we were there it was very hot with no fan and couldn’t leave the window open as it was right on the main road and there were lots of cars and wagons going past, their was no air in the room.
- Frank (6/5): The Granby Inn 24/6/18 - Carpet up to room can only be described as filthy. Local ale was £4.00 a pint (thought I was in London). I popped out to other pub in village at 9.00pm and when I got back at 9.30pm the entire pub was closed. So much for the "Open All Day" sign at the front. Could not use Wi-Fi as password had changed and as everything was shut there was nobody to ask new password. Breakfast was not too bad but plate was padded out with 2 slices of fried bread to fill it. Unlikely that I will be stopping here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The Granby Inn - Excellently run hotel in a lovely part of the UK. Good bar food and beer!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Accomodation - room was fine but bathroom/toilet was a bit "tired"
- Wynne (2/5): Overnight Freezer - Clean enough, lacking staff and a heating engineer.
Kept awake not only by noisy heating system which did nothing but had a bed with paper thin duvet and spent a totally uncomfortable and sleepless night with nobody to complain to.
In the morning any comments or complaints were given short shrift.
All be earned STAY AWAY.
- Derrick (10/5): Excellent 2 night B&B Stay - Warm welcome on arrival at this hotel run by same family for three generations.
Very comfortable and well-equipped single en suite room.
Decor and general building standards very good.
Good choice of tasty breakfasts cooked to order.
Dinner menu looked good - only sorry I didn't get a chance to savour it due to my business commitments!
- David (10/5): On route to work in Scotland - Barry has stayed at the Granby a few times now and always reports back that he enjoyed his stay
Thanks Dave
- Kay (10/5): Quiet, warm friendly, good food - Third visit and certainly not the last. Small and very very friendly. Menu is only equalled by the quality of food and the service. Just a short drive to Heighly Gate Garden Centre, good for a full morning or afternoon visit. Morpeth, nearest town, and just 10 miles from the wonderful Alnwick Castle and gardens.
- Mary (8/5): Charming Inn - Very comfortable stay at The Granby. Room spacious with a beautiful view. Very centrally location for visiting the area. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The interior is a bit tired but has the olde world charm about it.
Breakfast was fine. A self service continental breakfast would be good for those of us who don't usually eat a cooked breakfast.
All in all a pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): worth visiting - Nice clean place. Staff very helpful.
- Pete p (8/5): granby inn - nice and quiet place to stay after a days work
- Hazel (10/5): One night stay - Clean, comfortable and a lovely breakfast. Good value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant stay - Very welcoming with excellent food.
- Paul (10/5): Excellent stay - Excellent hotel, great room, super view and fabulous food. Can't wait to go back
- Les (10/5): Wonderful location - Booked in to stay while attending a wedding at a local Priory, the accommodation was well located and my wife and I had a wonderful night, we are going to book in again soon so we can investigate the local area as this is an excellent spot to be in easy access to the countryside and North Coast.
- Sandy (8/5): Morpeth as holiday base - This hotel/inn is in a good place for exploring the northumberland area. The staff in the hotel are friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are good but could do with an update at some point. All in all a good place to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent family run bed and breakfast, our hosts were lovely and welcoming
The food was marvellous - good job we only stayed for a few nights or I would have to go on a diet!!!! The room was comfortable, the shower could have had a bit more power to it but it did the job. Overall a good place to stay and explore what Northumbria has to offer.
- Michael (8/5): Old-world charm - Overnight business trip
- Claire (8/5): Traditional English inn stopover - I booked in to the Granby Inn as a last-minute stopover when visiting a friend at a nearby village. The price was reasonable and included a fantastic breakfast the next morning. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the inn and room had the authentic English pub/B&B feel I remember from my childhood (some might say that would be cause for an update but I felt strangely nostalgic about my experience and would definitely stay again).
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cosy hotel - A Nice cosy country hotel with friendly helpful staff
And comfortable very clean accommodation
With an excellent breakfast
- James (10/5): - A great time. Food excellent and staff and owners very friendly
- Bronwen (10/5): - We were comfortable and well looked after and spent a comfortable night in the Double en suite rooms. The bathroom was well stocked. The tea and coffee facilities were okay.
The joy was the excellent restaurant and the fixed price menu, which was wonderful. My sons say it's the best sticky toffee pudding they have ever eaten, Haggis Bon Bons were a great hit, crab risotto and fresh Sea Trout all fresh and tasty. Great breakfast, with Craster Kippers making a starring start to the day.
This is a locally run family business, built up over the last 50 years. You will be comfortable, well fed and looked after here.
Do explore this beautiful part of England and spend a few nights at The Granby Inn. Close to Dustanburgh, Bamburgh, Alnwick and Warkworth Castles, you also have Hexham and Keilder Water and the National Park within close proximity.
- Rachel (8/5): I would stay here again - thank you! - I travelled from Edinburgh to stay for one night as I had an early flight from Newcastle the following morning therefore chose this hotel due to it's location from Newcastle airport - it only took 30mins which was great!
I booked for a single room and was given a twin room. The decor was a bit dated but it was very spacious and clean so I was happy considering I'd only paid £40. My room wasn't facing the main road but it was still close to it and I didn't hear traffic during the night.
I had dinner downstairs in the bar and it was delicious and I was impressed with the presentation too. I was made to feel welcome and the staff (father and son) kept checking on me since I was dining by myself - thank you!
I didn't have breakfast due to my early departure so can't comment on that but am sure it would've been the same standard as dinner. When I checked in I was actually asked if I wanted a packed breakfast (since the price included breakfast) but I declined as I had already packed something light. I would stay here again - thank you!
- Simon (10/5): - Was lovely quite location with beautiful good and fantastic hospitality. Would go back there anytime and wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anyone.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The best feature was the excellent food. The next best the very friendly staff. The worst was the traffic noise as we were on the side of a main road used by heavy traffic. Also, the room was rather warm but it was a trade off between the noise of opening a window and being a bit hot.
Generally good value for money.
- Susan (10/5): one nighter - The Granby Inn was a real gem, very friendly staff, well equipped room and a fantastic breakfast - sadly no opportunity to sample an evening meal. Would most definitely book there again.
- Michael (10/5): Longframlington village inn - One night stopover. Small village inn with comfortable, clean room, excellent dinner and breakfast and friendly hosts. Top value for money
- Verified traveler (8/5): A comfy B & B. - A basic room, very clean with a good bathroom and shower. A little dated, could be improved. Food was very good and more then you would expect in quality.
- Mike (6/5): Disappointing after all the good reviews - I really wish that hoteliers would sleep in the rooms that they let to the public. Our room has a bright orange street-light directly outside which shone all night. As a result I had a terrible nights sleep and that's not the best prelude to a long drive. Is it too much to ask for curtains thick enough to actually make the bedroom dark? A little soundproofing to isolate bedrooms from noisy dining rooms would be nice too.
Otherwise, this is a business that peaked somewhere in the 1980s and hasn't changed much since with shaggy carpets and a décor of much emulsioned anaglypta and woodchip. A new carpet on the stairway to the bedrooms would be advisable.
Breakfast was fine but dinner/wine list tended towards fancy versions of pub favourites; big on decorative effect but could do better on taste.
- Party of four (6/5): Nice hotel in small village - Service was fine but not very friendly.
As with most small British hotels the room us up a flight of narrow stairs so be sure that you can navigate stairs and carry a suitcase at the same time.
- P S (8/5): - Very comfortable, albeit compact.
Food was very nice
- Jerry (10/5): Lovely English Countryside charm - A charming Inn in a charming town. Longframlington is centrally located to many Nothumberland historic sites. The hotel food was excellent and is always full of locals. Bill & Judith took good care of us and were very helpful.
We would go back in a minute!
- Paula (10/5): Perfect location for exploring Northumberland - Kind, thoughtful and friendly owners, excellent breakfasts and evening meals available in the bar/restaurant. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends, and intend to return next year.
- lisa (10/5): great place! lovely people - Nothing bad to say. Felt like visiting a close friends place.
