• Carsten (8/5): - Die zimmer waren dem preis entsprechend gut gewesen. Ansonsten kann man nichts negatives sagen.
• sandiablonde (6/5): Not the same as it was the first time here.... - We were coming through Hamburg again to show our son the Miniatur Wunderland train layout and decided to stay here again since we had such a nice time before. I made reservations months ahead and asked for the same room we had the last time, which was the big suite that was more than big enough for three people. I was told that I could have that room without a problem. When we arrived, we didn't that room. We received a small room upstairs that really wasn't big enough for three people. Went to eat dinner downstairs, which was very good as it always was with good service. Went up to our room through the door that leads from the restaurant to the rooms, changed into warmer clothes, and went back down to the restaurant and exited the building to go on a walk. This was where we were accosted by the young chef, who told us that this entrance was for restaurant guests only and that we had to go down two flights of stairs and exit through the back, then walk up the hill back to the front. I thought we had just eaten at the restaurant and were paying for a room also. What does it matter? it wasn't like the restaurant was packed and there were people standing at the entrance waiting to get in. There was no one there, just the chef and two friends of his smoking. This really bothered me. The stairs that lead down to the back entrance are extremely narrow and short and my wife had a very hard time walking up and down these stairs. In fact, she almost fell twice. We stayed two nights and eat there both nights and had breakfast there and the breakfast is nice but nothing noteworthy. On the morning we left, I was starting to drag my suitcases down the narrow steps to just have to drag them back up the hill to the front where the car was when the nice breakfast lady asked me why I was doing that. When I explained to her, she frowned and told me to take my suitcases out the restaurant entrance because going downstairs was stupid if I wasn't staying downstairs. I was a repeat customer here and have told numerous people about this place and that they should stay there, so to be treated that way by the chef was annoying and will keep me from coming back to this place again, which is a shame because the dinners were very good, especially the smoked potatoes.
• Teemu (8/5): Trevlig iten Gasthaus - Bra sängar , bra mat, creditkort terminalen var ur funktion så jag fick köra och hämta kontanter, annars trevligt Gasthaus, skulle boka igen om jag ska till Hamburg. Tips. ta andra våning om ni är 2 pers.
• Christoph (8/5): - Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt mit super Essen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und es war alles Top!gerne wieder!
• Verified traveler (4/5): - Leider hatten wir ein Zimmer im Keller welches nicht schön war. Es hat ein wenig nach Kartoffelkeller gerochen, die Dielen im Schlafzimmer haben sehr geknarrt und es ist alles sehr hellhörig.
• J. (6/5): Mooie plek, weinig hartelijke ontvangst - We hadden dit hotel met opzet uitgekozen als doorreishotel tussen twee lange autoritten. Vanwege de ligging, vlakbij een fijne natuurwandelroute zodat wij en onze hond de beentjes even konden strekken. Maar ook vanwege het volgens de recensies goede restaurant, zodat we direct na aankomst wat konden eten. Het restaurant bleek echter afgehuurd voor een feest en we konden ook niet even snel van tevoren iets eten, terwijl er wel andere gasten aan tafels zaten. Men wilde ons ook nog verplaatsen van het geboekte appartement op de begane grond naar een zolderkamer. Men zal wel gestresst zijn geweest voor het feest maar de ontvangst voelde weinig hartelijk. Het appartement was ruim, schoon en comfortabel en het ontbijt was redelijk.

Landlig preg, men vinduene kunne med fordel vært lukket da fruen ikke er spesielt glad i edderkopper. Sur og tverr sjef som tok imot oss ved innsjekking ga desverre et dårlig førsteinntrykk- noe stedet ellers ikke fortjener.

• Marcus (6/5): Schlechtes WLAN aber Top Frühstück - Das Hotel ist für den normalen Anspruch absolut ausreichend. Was wirklich negativ war, ist das schlechte WLAN. Dies ist genauso als wäre keins vorhanden. Schlafen war gut, aber die Duschkabine war sehr verkalkt und verpilzt. Das Frühstück war sehr gut und reichhaltig und das zu einem sehr günstigen Kurs, was sehr positiv zu Bewerten ist. Auch das Personal war super nett.
• litetravelfan (10/5): Restful location, wonderful restaurant, spacious apartment lodging - Our final weekend in Germany did not disappoint with the decision to stay at the Zum Eichbaum. The peaceful location was perfect for relaxing after full days exploring Hamburg. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was delicious, offering unique menu options that did not disappoint. The room for our family ended up being an apartment with kitchen, living and dining room - spacious, very clean and nicely decorated. Another bonus was the walking trail around the lake, literally just across the street. Perfect location for ending our tour.
• Carolina Fisher (10/5): Loved our apartment style lodging! - What a great way to enjoy the quieter side of Hamburg lodging and dining! Our family loved the apartment style lodging, taking advantage of the living room, kitchen and dining room for travel planning and review. The restaurant provided delicious dinner selections (the little smokey potatoes, unique in flavor, were an unexpected treat) and a lovely breakfast buffet to start the morning off allowing for full days of exploring Hamburg. The quiet, country setting with access across the street to a greenway around the lake provided the perfect place for a morning stretch. Highly recommend for those wanting a unique setting but short drive access to the heart of Hamburg.

• Linus (2/5): Fanns inget rum - Tyvärr så fanns det inget rum reserverat för oss när vi kom dit även om det var betalt i förväg och personalen på plats (som även jobbade i restaurangen) kände inte till hotels.com. Eftersom hotellet var fullt så hjälpte hotels.com oss med ett annat hotell. Hotellet såg fint ut och kändes väldigt tyskt så det hade nog varit att bo där. Betygen på rummet stämmer inte då vi inte fick se något rum men det går inte skriva recension utan att lämna betyg.
• sandiablonde (10/5): EXCELLENT PLACE TO STAY AND EAT - This was the fifth place we stayed on our month long vacation and it was by far the nicest and the best food. The hotel sits by itself on an isolated street next to the Eichbaumsee, a charming little lake around which one can walk, and has plenty of free parking. Access to the city center itself is easy and close by, within 20 minutes by car. Our room was very large and comfortable with a large bath area. It was quiet here and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate dinner and breakfast here and both were exceptional. The dinner was awesome and we left stuffed. They served smoked, small potatoes here that are delicious! The smoked fish for the main course was perfect and the dessert was just right. Even if you don't stay here, you should eat here if staying in Hamburg. It was just too bad that we only stayed one night. I will certainly come here again if near Hamburg. Highly recommended.
• Sugar Ray (8/5): Typically European Hotel - This was just a one-night stop-over, but all aspects of the stay were okay.
• Biancofreddo (6/5): If they could only get rid of the "greasy spoon" smell.. - What I am opionating about here, is the restaurant not the hotel. Both hotel and restaurant are located in nice, original, green area(Allermöhe) very close to Hamburg City. It is really countrylike. The inside of restuarant is definitely unique, a museum of utensils and mayn, many other interesting bits and pieces. Anton, the waiter is very friendly. But...the greasy spoon smell spoils everything. After dining here, one comes away smelling from head to toe. That cannot be a very good indication of kitchen hygiene..A shame.
• AntoineRitel (6/5): Relax place And average ambiance - I stay few nights for a buisness trip in Germany , And i have saw nothing wrong regarding the service And it was a clean And cosy place . Also i décide to stay for dinner sometimes after work And the food was good. Definitly a good place but a Little bit expensive .
• bilboburgler (6/5): A busy little place in the country near Hamburg - When we arrived at 7pm, having booked in advance, the place was heaving with locals drinking in the bar and eating on the terrace at the front. The barman/waiter was busy and seemed doubtful that there was a room for us, but he sat us down for 20 minutes while he carried on serving the throng. When he returned, he took me off to a small office and showed me the computer where the bookings were recorded. There was our booking in plain view, goodness knows how he had missed it originally. So we were eventually shown to our room, accessible through a door at the back of the hotel. The room was a duplex with a lot of space. However, this is more of a country inn than a hotel and the room's furnishings were motel rather than hotel, albeit fairly upmarket motel. The service was friendly and the breakfast good. We ate dinner here too and the portions were enormous. The room rate (with breakfast) was quite expensive at €95 for a double with breakfast, but the Hamburg area is expensive. The setting, near a lake of the same name and in a rural area of orchards and riding stables, is great if you need to stay near Hamburg want to be outside the city itself.
