Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): - View near from Bromo mountain. I dislike with the properties which old product and dirty
- Gareth (8/5): Great for a short stay - We stayed at Bromo Permai hotel the night before departing for Mount Bromo. The hotel is located very near to the entrance of mount bromo itself which is convenient. The room was also big enough to accommodate all our trekking gear. Breakfast was basic and could be better.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - shower in both family room that i book were not working..it's either too hot or cold. lightings are so dim.
- Chen Ping (6/5): Bromo Holidays - Room is a bit too small and basic but the view from just outside the hotel is simply excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bromo Permai - Staff are friendly. Views are ok. But there was no hot water for shower in our room (though the room we booked indicated hot water available). It wasn’t a good experience showering in very cold water when the surrounding environment was already very cold.
- Ed (6/5): - it is as close to Bromo as you can get. That's all
Terutama anak saya cowo usia 13 thn. Biasanya dlm hal apapun dia selalu merasa boring. Tp tak disangka liburan ini membuat dia seperti menemukan dunianya. Dia sangat menikmati liburannya.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location & awesome view of Mt.Bromo just infront of hotel.
- John (8/5): - Good location with a hot shower. But find another place to eat.
- Aniko (8/5): good place to stay - The hotel is inside the national park, so you have to pay the entrance fee immediately (220k). But you can spend as much time as you want at Bromo because is it walking distance. Just go down the road and there is Sea of Sand, go directly to the temple and you can see the stairs up to Bromo. I think you can walk to sunrise point too, but we choose tour for that. It's cost 450k/car (short tour include crater too) and you can reserve in the hotel, just like the transfer to Probolinggo train station (450k/car). Both were in time. The accomodation is good, simple, the shower is next to toilet, not separate, but we could handle it. We didn't have water at the evening, but they fixed it immediately. Breakfast was is buffet style and was delicious (indonesian food)
- Zurina (6/5): Magnificent mount bromo view from hotel - Arrived late at hotel, book for 4 pax in triple room (given by Expedia). Staff insisted us to pay another IDR120K for additional pax. Luckily, we brought Expedia booking confirmation, clearly state the additional chgs has been add in to the payment. Advised to bring the booking confirmation upon check in.
- Asyik (8/5): Close to the mount - Experience with 5 minutes no water supply. After inform the management, its back to the normal. Fast action is good. But please make sure it will not happen again.
- james (4/5): No hot water - Only had hot water at 2 am for 1 shower. After that no hot water all day. Of course no frig or safe either. Paid 88.0000 for 3 person room and only 2 paks of coffee in room. View of Mr bromo not directly from room as someone posted but it is very close to hotel
- Greg (8/5): Right next to volcano. Good enough for location. - The location is everything with this place. It is just inside the gate of the Bromo National park and you can, just barely, see the volcano from a platform behind the hotel rooms. There is no heat in the rooms and it can get cold. The rooms are also not very clean. There are also limited resources and the staff really do not speak English even if the website indicates they do. There is also a nightly ritual of everyone getting going at 3 or 4 AM to dash off to see the sunrise and it is loud. In fact it is loud all night long and walls are thin and sleep was hard to be had.I had a fabulous time and found it fine, but I am a backwoods camper and don't have very high demands for creature comforts in this kind of setting. I am not sure if other places nearby would be better.
- Adrian (6/5): Location, location, location - This hotel is literally just good for it's location. The staff are friendly and speak ok English which certainly helped however the rooms were dreadful with unclean and damp beds and insects throughout the room.
With all of that said, it pays to spend 1 night here if you are on a budget and want to hike Mt Bromo as it's literally at the highest point you can go from an accommodation standpoint.
- Sanjay (6/5): Best location to stay next to Mount Bromo - Smooth check-in, responsive hotel personnel with adequate toileteries, mattresses, etc and delivered promptly. However, quality and quantiy of food left much to be desired. The bathroom was below average and scalding hot water for shower (there was only one setting and you could not control the temperature). The wash basin was in the main bedroom. All extra expenses incurred have to be settled in cash or else, be prepared to pay extra 2.5% as credit card charges if paying through credit card.
- Alan (6/5): Basic budget accommodation for single night stay - Staff really helpful arranging Jeep and taxi back to Probo (on tight schedule). Food was decent and room was OK for a night.
We watched the sunrise from Cemora Lawang - directly opposite the hotel. Very convenient and perfect for watching the changing face of Bromo as the sun rose. And we didn't have to trek in the dark with others.
We went to the crater after breakfast when most of the first trekkers had gone ... so it was quite pleasant and not crowded.
Also made time to go north of Bromo and walk the Sea of Sand for a good hour - nobody else, wonderfully quiet ...
- Lisa (8/5): Location great, rest ok. - Location was awesome - you cab just walk out of the hotel and sit on the railing to enjoy the view of the several craters! Due to its location it is definitely good to start walking from here to Bromo if you dont want to take/pay for the jeep. Room is simple, warm water is ok and food at the restaurant also ok. Overall had a lovely stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): OK Place - Great Location - Well located very close to the caldera. The hotel is just inside the national park which means you have got to pay the park entrance before you can get to it. Note that if you are arriving at the weekend but aren't planning to visit the park proper until the Monday, you have to pay the higher weekend park entry fee.
Rooms are in rows of 'cottages' outside - has a bit of a feel of a holiday camp. The rooms are quite small, basic and quite dingy. Very dated but everything worked. Breakfast in the main building was good and the staff were friendly. Wifi in the main building was good but didn't extend as far as the cottages (at least not to mine).
Overall, OK.
- Leonard (8/5): Best hotel in the vicinity. - You'll have to expect a certain rural-ness since it's high up in the mountains. I believe that this is the best hotel (more of a chalet) that is closest to mount bromo.
The staff were friendly and provided great service. We were out early to catch the night sky and thereafter climbed up mountain bromo. Returned later in the morning past our breakfast timing, yet the staff did packed the breakfast for everyone of us.
We were even able to make last min food orders past their last ordering timing.
Cleanliness and comfort level of the rooms were decent with the unavoidable occasional insect visits. Nothing unbelievable and difficult to deal with if you're going on such trips.
Will definitely stay again if going back there.
- Good (8/5): Great view - Restaurant food can be better ... but the location is good
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location, but very overpriced - The room was very basic and definitely needed some maintenance. No WiFi in the room, only in the restaurant/lobby area. This would be a reasonable hotel by Indonesian standards, if not for the fact that they charge probably 10x what you should be paying for a room like that. Seems like most of the places in Bromo charge substantially higher for simple accommodation. Upside is that the breakfast was quite good and plentiful (buffet of nasi and mie goreng, toast, egg, banana, coffee/tea). In terms of location, it is beyond the point where a park ticket is required, so we had to buy a ticket to even get to the hotel. This is fine, unless you don't plan on visiting the crater.
- Kyi Phyu (6/5): Nice location for Mt.bromo - Lost my perfume, part of it my fault as i left it on the dressing table while I was visiting the crater.
Wifi is only accessible from the lobby/restaurant.
- Benjamin (6/5): - bed sheets were not clean. there was no wifi in the room. no heater as well when it get chilly at night. the hot water running from the showers was not consistent and there is no way to control the temperature. The accomodation does however have a good view of mount bromo. very basic accomodation.
- Richard (6/5): stay for bromo - Stayed for one night whilst visiting bromo. Great location and view over the crater. Comfortable reception and seating area. Room was poor for cost but understandable given location. WiFi in reception area only. Hot water but poor shower. Essentially overpriced but probably the best choice for location. Of note, you need to pay park entrance fee for staying here.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Bromo was worth the Ordeal - Was not easy to get to the hotel, and when we finally arrived, the hotel staff informed us that the travel agent hotels.com works through has actually put us up in a different sister hotel, about 100m away. The rooms where we ended up were very basic cottages and it got cold at night. But in the end seeing Bromo was great, and the view from the hotel was awesome.
- kat (6/5): basic hotel with perfect location - The rooms there are very basic, beds are not really comfortable, furniture is old-fashioned. There is a sink in the bedroom and the bathroom has a toilet and a shower (water was just warm, not hot). Our room wasn't really dirty, but not really clean either. The sheets seemed to be clean but the bedcover was rather filthy. There is no heating and it gets pretty cold at night. The blankets there were just enough to keep warm, so make sure you bring warm clothes (also for the sunrise tour!!). So all in all, it's not really cozy there.
BUT: This hotel is located right at the edge of the crater, which is the biggest plus point. From there you can easily do the sunrise tour in the early morning. You have to get up at 3am anyway, so the night in the cold room is short. After the sunrise tour you can have breakfast (basic, but ok), take a shower and then leave.
Given the fact that you are in a mountain village at 2200m a.s.l., at the edge of a crater, you can't expect to find an extravagant hotel there. I think, this is the best you can get! That's why I would definitely recommend staying there, but only for one night (to do the sunrise tour).
- Yasod (8/5): Pleasant staffs excellent view - The stay was really good. Despite all the negative points that I have heard, we experienced non of that. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. I even told the front office manager that having stayed here, I find many comments about this place are really unfair and unreasonable. They even made arrangement for another comfortable bed for a small price for the third person who stayed with us although our booking is only for two persons. Hot shower was consistent through out the day. Hot water for coffee and tea was provided without we having to boil it ourselves. The hotel also made arrangement for our early morning drive to Pananjakan without any hassle and the wake up call the next morning to travel to pananjakan was prompt and punctual The location was superb. The food was local and good and reasonably priced. Just about a great place to stay in a remote village far from Surabaya.
- Travis (8/5): Great views, Great price, No need to book a tour - This hotel is in an excellent location and there some of the best views of Bromo and surrounds are from the hotel. After reading some poor reviews I did not have high expectations but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The restaurant is cosy and served the best meal I had while I was in Java. The rooms were basic but fine for one night and there were enough blankets to stay warm. The best part was the location - we didn't need to arrange a tour. Simply just walk up the hill to Viewpoints #1 and #2. Then, we walked down to the Sea of Sand and across to the crater. We were finished by 9am and saved lots of money - no tour or transport costs. I would definately stay at this hotel again if I return to Bromo
- Joe (6/5): Location is everything - 1 of only 2 hotels that overlook Mt Bromo.
We had a good bed and a hot shower, our friend in another room didn't have hot water.
Very basic room but clean enough, ok for the 1night most people stay.
Food and staff were excellent.
- Eric (6/5): Hotel near the Mt. Bromo - The hotel is inside the Park gate, so it mean i need to paid the park entrance fees before enter the hotel. Afterward i use my hotel key as a prove to go in and out the gate for dinner and some grocery shopping.
It had some nice view just outside the hotel, and the hotel backyard too.
The water heater are using gas to heat up the water, so when it have strong gas smell and i do worry it get exploded
- CCM (6/5): Great location - The location is great as it is situated just inside the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park gate. The rooms are rather basic and thankfully the hot water works. We paid for an extra bed (which turned out to be just a mattress) which arrived 2 hrs later after we reminded them. Breakfast was ok. The room price was high and does not offer value for money. In the early morning, we were greeted by a wonderland of a million stars overhead as we headed for the Lookout Point at Mt Pernankakan.
- Andi (8/5): Perfect for visiting Bromo - sunrise: we had to wake up at 3 o clock, we walked from the hotel with a guide (hotel stuff, but normally you get an external) for around 1,5 - 2 h. You can decide if you want to see the sunrise from the top of a mountain/platform or from another viewing platform which is not as high, but you have one big advantage: there arent that crowd of people that are on the top of the mountain and the view was fantastic!
- Andi (8/5): Perfect for visiting Bromo - sunrise: we had to wake up at 3 o clock, we walked from the hotel with a guide (hotel stuff, but normally you get an external) for around 1,5 - 2 h. - Teo WL (8/5): Great location but hot showers still a problem - Great location at the edge of the caldera with views of Mt Bromo from the lookout area just across the road from the hotel. The check-in and out was fast, and service staff were polite and helpful. Our room was clean and we had no issues at all with the bedding (nice and clean) or the cold (a thick blanket is provided). The only thing that should really be looked into is the state of the hot showers (very inconsistent, one moment very cold, another very hot) as reported by many other travellers. Food is easily available either at hotel or a short walk away, and the start of walking trail to both the sunrise view or down to the sea of sand are nearby (just head down road and turn left at Y-junction towards Cemarah Indah Hotel).
- broshaff (6/5): The scenery was amazing! - Location and nice view. Hot water at least take about 3 mins to heat up.
- Verified traveler (6/5): nice hotel / covers the needs - We stayed here for just one night before heading up to see Bromo. It's very basic, but relatively good for the Cemoro Lawang standarts. The staff was very friendly and the room covered the needs.
- Verified traveler (6/5): overpriced, but everything is up there - Fairly clean. Beds had warm blankets and the sheets looked and smelled clean. The staff didn't complain when we put 3 people in a 2 person room.
Awesome location on the edge of the volcano!
The shower was totally wonky. It would stay hot for like 5 seconds at a time. Still, better than a cold shower!
Front office staff were helpful.
Food was pretty good. The pineapple pancake was the fluffiest I've ever had in Asia. :)
Bring ear plugs, it gets pretty noisy after 3am as people head out to see the sunrise.
(6/5): good location - good location
