Guest Reviews
- Alexander (2/5): - The whole property is completely dirty. Beds are disgusting( I assume best sheets were not changed for a while, stains, hairs in the bed), Bathroom is completely dirty, walls and ceiling with mould.
- RICHARD (6/5): Ok hotel good location basic rooms - Ok basic hotel , great location .
- Stephan (4/5): to avoid except for the good location - difficult check in, not clean
- Srimanta (10/5): - Excellent property. Very clean room and bathroom with hot shower 24×7. I will come back again. Thank you
- Guat B (8/5): Best view in town. It’s the gathering place. - Tired but well maintained
- Gerold (4/5): - Good breakfast, service was friendly. Good starting position for the bromo. My room (244), however, was terrible..
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good base for exploring Mount Bromo - Hotel is one of the few properties available for travellers to Mount Bromo. The property has a good viewing area of the crater and the Sea of Sand, although it is not necessary to be a guest to access the view point. There is a horse trail that starts adjacent to the property that leads down to the Sea of Sand, which is convenient for those wishing to access the crater via foot (but beware of rangers who will ask to pay the park fee of approximately 220k IDR.
In terms of comfort, the room I was provided was fairly basic. It had two beds and a washroom. The washroom did provide hot water and a sit toilet, which was a good creature comfort. I don't think there was central heating (didn't look) but the covers were plenty warm for me at night.
Wifi was only available in the restaurant/lobby. I didn't bother using it as I had a SIM card, and can access the internet in my room.
The breakfast buffet included with the room was actually better than expected. It had quite a bit of variety: fried rice, fried noodles, vegetable soup, omelettes, sliced watermelon, coffee, tea, orange juice. It was all very basic but a good bonus.
Overall, the property was a good place to stay. It was a good base for accessing Mount Bromo and the sunrise view points. The property was basic but adequate for a night or two's stay to explore Mount Bromo.
- Hong Yee (6/5): Lovely place but need more touch up and system - Location was awesome, service is really pretty good but too many sales pitching throughout the stay. From jacket rentals to trips recommendations, be prepared to get the questions coming whenever you see the guys on the hotel compound.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not sure if there are nicer hotels in this cute little town, but only choose this location because of the good view. Breakfast was actually good as well.
- Cristian (8/5): - Maybe one of the best places near Bromo. Best view from the terace. Helpfull and honest staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location but not clean. - Cleanliness in room needs to be improved badly but overall property is just alright. Main reason of our stay here is the location which is the closest (though the furthest from train station) to Mt.Bromo and can see it from here too. Food is better than expected.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Don’t believe the bad reviews - This hotel is what it is - it’s not 5* and it’s not luxury but what it is is a charming cottage style hotel with the best view of Bromo! It is also next to the secret passage down to the sea of sand which avoids you paying the ‘entrance fee’ to Bromo. Yes it’s cold, you’re on a mountain so don’t expect heating for £30 a night but you get a cosy blanket and duvet. The bathroom has an actual toilet which is more than many of the others have but the shower is a hose in the wall which we didn’t use. The breakfast was tasty, classic rice, noodles and omelette with tea coffee and juice. All in all I would say stay here if you are going to mt Bromo and if you want luxury forget it as you won’t find it in this tiny village in the middle of no-where but that adds to the charm!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Struttura appena sufficiente, Solo x poche ore - Struttura vecchiotta, buona solo x dormire poche ore prima della visita al vulcano Bromo. Camera (deluxe) minimamente pulita e fredda.
- THUNYA (6/5): Hotel near BROMO - HOTEL VERY NEAR TO MOUNT BROMO
BUT ROOM VERY OLD
BY THE WAY THIS HOTEL IS REASONABLE PRICE
- Stefano (6/5): Non c’e molta alternativa...
- pipat (2/5): Need to repair the bathroom. Dirty towels. - The location is near Bromo but the price is to high compare to the hotel facilities and room. Breakfast is cold.
- Kevin (2/5): Disgusting Flea Pit - Avoid like the plague. Disgusting filthy pit. Good points - Location is the closet to sunrise, only 25 minutes away but that’s where it ends.
Bad points - Rooms and linen filthy as for the bathroom cleaner outside room than in. Hose for shower - cold. Mound everywhere. Take a longer drive up in the morning if you still want your companion to speak to you after your arrival. Breakfast - 2 choices of cold rice or some other concoction prepared by someone who has no clue of what they are doing. Take some food with you or stave until you find a better venue. My advice is pot noodle style if you require hot food as there is a kettle, but take 3 litres of water to clean it out first. We got ther at 10 pm so only 3 hrs there before we set off to sunrise. So thankfully I didn’t need to use the bed. I sat outside as didn’t want to catch any infection from the room. In a nutshell leave well alone - you have been warned.
- Amir (8/5): Great location/views/staff/food but rooms were ok - The rooms need a face lift but the location was excellent with spectacular panoramic views. The staff & food were also great!
- Damien (2/5): - Dirty and very expensive. But nothing better in Cemoro Lawang ! Just for 1 nignt.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good for one night - The rooms are cool and not very comfortable, just fine for the night before visiting the Bromo.
Friendly and nice staff, good excursion to the Bromo booked with them.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good view of the volcano - The room was a bit damp, the staff hassle you to rent a coat ("Mount Bromo so cold..."), but it's probably one of the best located places to see Mount Bromo. On the plus side, the manager speaks good English and can arrange transport to Mount Bromo and taxis, buses, etc. back to the rest of Indonesia.
- Agus (6/5): Nice hotel with great view to Bromo Mountain. - Dont just take the offer to rent the jeep, it is way to expensive. Ojek driver can take you there way lot cheaper.
- Khim (6/5): A hotel within walkable distance to Mt Bromo - The hotel was extremely difficult for our taxi driver to locate. We arrive at the hotel after 6 hours and with the help of a police officer. The counter staff was efficient. We were given the room key very quickly.
The only facility in the hotel is the restaurant. It was nearly full when we arrived. The menu was reasonable in terms of price and variety. Dessert, beer and coffee were available.
The room was cleaned. The beds were comfortable. It was a little noisy as we were close to the road.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great location, but extremely moldy room - The beds did not have a top sheet- had to go ask for one- which seemed not very sanitary with the well-used looking blankets. The ceiling is has tiles made of some kind of fiber that is covered in black mold. I don't usually give bad reviews, but I thought the mold was very unhealthy. Apparently other hotels of this price range have the same problem around here.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Ok - No hot water and it was so cold up.there.room is so small. Expensive.
- sj (4/5): Too expensive - We booked on hotels.com, but when we arrived the hotel was full. They put us in a homestay...but didn't even tell us anything. Our room had a small bed, no hot water, and a squat toilet, and no sink. However, the staff were kind and helped us arrange a trip to Ijen. I would not recommend as it's far too expensive for what you get.
- Tim (8/5): Closest to bromo - Best view of bromo. Not a bad room either. Little more expensive than others because of the location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amazing views, friendly staff - I decided to stay here despite some reviews mentioning cleanliness, lack of hot water etc.
I had an amazing stay here - the room was clean and the shower was hot (although it did lack water pressure...more of a trickle, but still able to be useful)
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Most of the people tried to sell you a jeep ride and sunrise tour. I wanted to hike, and the path was very easy to follow and find the viewpoint (about 90 mins from the hotel)
The best part was definitely the view. Sitting right on the cliff face, the hotel and many of the rooms have awesome views of Mt Bromo.
- S (4/5): Dingy and Dark; Not Worth the Money - Just gross. It's extremely overpriced for what they provide, no need to book in advance, take your chances on whatever else you find when you get there. Dingy, Dark, and Dirty --> First room they gave me, the key wouldn't come out of the rusty lock so I needed to change. Second room was better but light blew out next morning.
- vynolac (4/5): Great view but old rooms - The hotel has thebest view of Bromo and the crater, just right in front of the porch! but the rooms are really old and have a mossy smell.
- Alex (6/5): Non-professional staff - I arrived in the hotel in heavy rain. I booked the jeep tour of next morning. I said I will join the tour if the weather is fine next morning. I confirmed the tour twice toward the hotel staff. I said I will pay next morning. I did not pay in advance because you can't see anything in bad weather. I went to the front desk next morning and found my tour was cancelled. Bad experience and lousy service! Tour price: 125000 Rp each including view point I and Mt. Bromo climbing.
- couple (6/5): Good view of Bromo - the best thing of this hotel is the view only. Beside that all are average, do not expect much about the cleanliness, the comfort and others, all are just o.k. Breakfast is so so.
- Malaccan native (2/5): Fantastic place to be - Location of hotel is breath taking. View from hotel is amazing.
- Andy (4/5): Great location, shame about the room - The location is excellent, and if it is wasn't for the price, I wouldn't be bothered about the room. But at the prices we were paying, I'd expect the shower to work. The hot water never came out at a rate more than a dribble, and even that kept on cutting out. It would been more effective to have filled the sink with water from the kettle, and poured cups of water over my head, but the sink had no plug.
Still, if you can go without a shower, and don't mind a very soft bed, the location is great, with excellent views, and the staff can arrange transport from the airport.
- Anuj (8/5): Great location, good decor, good breakfast - We checked in late at night at the hotel and the staff was kind enough to get us packed dinner from an eatery down the road. They also arranged a shared 4WD to the sunrise point at a reasonable price. Finally having a good breakfast with a view of Mt. Bromo and Mt. Batok was truly an experience. The hotel has good decor but then it charges quite a bit for all this. No complaints.
