Guest Reviews
- chrisk4847 (10/5): fun weekend - Had a great time with my grandsons in one of your two room suites. It was great having the extra room !! We swam in the pool and had a blast ! The staff was wonderful, even helped me bring my luggage out to my car. Thank you so much.
- Q7131OAmadelineb (6/5): Kent graduation stay - Great "downtown" location to recommend if you’re just coming for a school event & leaving right after. 10 mins walk to campus. At the center of the tiny downtown. Nice restaurants across the street. The on-site restaurant server made sure to tell us that breakfast ends in 20 minutes when we walked in. Otherwise, the hotel is average.
- fliptastic3 (10/5): Great location! - Convenient location downtown and close to campus. Staff were friendly and the room was clean with standard amenities.

- Maps687041 (4/5): Not great Bob. - Paying $300 for one night and then immediately being upsold parking is not a great look. The rooms also look nice enough, but terrible sound isolation, I heard every single thing from other rooms, and the bathrooms especially you can hear the people around you in their bathrooms. The staff was very friendly and prompt, just the property was built cheaply and considering they have a monopoly, went cheap on all the things that actually make a hotel experience great, which is restful, private rooms, and ease of getting in. The last thing I want after traveling is struggling to find parking, carrying my bags through the streets, and being upsold parking.
Also, the morning of my check in, the maids tried to come in at 9am and were only stopped by the additional bar lock being on. Surely there should be a fool proof system in knowing who has checked out and who hasn't.
It's a shame there aren't other good options in or near town, they need real competition to bring them back to earth.

- DayTrip631974 (10/5): very enjoyable - Family member has attended Kent State University for the last 4 years so this has been our favorite place to stay when in the area.
- Tiffany (10/5): - Conveniently located Price
- 249kayb (10/5): lovely time in a well run, friendly hotel. - Loved this hotel! Very nice in every way. Used the pool but there was a hairpiece at the bottom and sand in the corners....swam anyway. Also liked the arrangement with the parking garage. There was a storm-related black out on Sunday. A very nice girl at reception helped bring our luggage down by stairs because we are in our 80's and it was difficult. Tried to give her a tip but she would not take it. Housekeeper also helped with the luggage. Used the bar and restaurant that was nice and convenient. Keep up the good work!
- donnajJ9918CP (8/5): Great hotel, but could use some upgrades, etc - Love the hotel and location. Our room was not ready yet at check in. We had an event to attend so was not able to come back and check in until hours later. Luckily we had a place that we were able to go and get ready for this event since our room was not yet clean.
Unfortunately we did not sleep well. The mattress is not comfortable plus there were no extra pillows at all in the room. We had some loud guests next to us as well.
There was a power outage while we were there so did not have all working lights or tv Saturday evening. The hallways were pitch black. The elevators were also out which is not at all the hotels fault, but made it very difficult for my husband whom had to walk down 2 flights of steps with a leg brace on while using a crutch.
The gentleman (sorry, cannot remember his name) working the front desk on Saturday evening was very polite and friendly.
The bartender that was working Friday evening was also very polite and friendly.
We did accidentally push the button for a ticket for the parking garage a couple of times and anyone who was working the front desk at the time was great about it and fixed it for us.
It would be great if there were more ways to be able to charge your cell phones, etc. Not may outlets at all to use in the room.
- kensM7315XR (8/5): Great weekend in Kent. - Great location and very nice hotel. We loved being able to walk to everywhere in downtown and the west edge of the campus is right across the street as well. Our big disappointment is that they don't have smart TV's so we couldn't stream anything!!!!! No TV Guide onscreen, and limited cable channel choices
- N9518NUchristinam (10/5): Convenient and nice hotel - This hotel is super convenient to the Kent State campus. The rooms are nice and the common areas are well done. This is our second time staying here.
- Cristy (8/5): -
- astraeal2016 (10/5): My go to when in Kent - I've stayed here 4 times and have had a good experience each time which is why I keep going back! That's about the highest praise I can give. Great location, clean, excellent service and comfortable overall.
- BrandyBear87 (8/5): Couples Weekend Getaway - The hotel is in a great area - right in the middle of campus. We weren't in town for the University, but it was nice to be near so many restaurants and shops within walking distance. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The front desk staff were very kind and answered any questions we had. The only real "issue" was that the indoor pool wasn't very warm despite being listed as heated, and the hot tub was more like warm bath water than hot. I would say that the hot tub was the temperature the pool should've been, and the hot tub should've been 10-15 degrees warmer. There was also some debris that looked like dirt gathered at the bottom of the hot tub near the filter, which was a bit off-putting. Otherwise the area was very clean in appearance and there were plenty of towels as well. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and we would likely stay here again if we needed to come back to the area!
- Nancy (10/5): -
- tppenn (10/5): Overnighter - Stayed here for just one night to participate in a sports banquet for a Kent University team. The hotel is located in town and makes it easy to walk around. The only real downfall I have about this hotel is that they don’t cover your parking at the parking garage. The hotel itself, is clean, the room size is nice and has a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. There is a restaurant with a bar, and other amenities that I did not use.
- jasoneD8891CI (10/5): All good except for the shower. - Everything was great, we were in room 322, the shower leaked onto the floor. We thought we were showering with the door slightly open but the door was closed at all times. we used the majority of the towels soaking up the water.
- Mary (7/5): Great location, was nice to have have live music in the bar. - Close to downtown Kent.
- Donna (9/5): -

- 2af3f2a2ee9d70af9d550a3a95d3a556 (10/5): - Great location and so much within walking distance. Great and friendly staff. Having to pay to park. Should be free
- melissanC2190RU (10/5): Go Flashes - Perfect location for a trip to Kent State Univeristy. Parking is easy, walking distance to all things Kent State. We love the staff and the rooms!
- christinegW3090DL (10/5): Excellent! - This hotel was modern and clean. Would highly recommend! Perfect location to downtown and the university. Helpful staff!
- N570AWjohnc (8/5): 95% if still an A - I would gladly stay here again. The ONLY issues we had were.
1) The pillows were pretty lumpy.
2) I asked for highest floor due to ambient sound disorder and was placed on the 2nd floor. A LOT of noise from above and below kept me up most of the night. No late check-out available.
Still, what a great group of people at the desk.
- Stefanie (10/5): -
- 986lauriep (10/5): KSU visit was awesome! - My son and I were visiting the Kent State campus and stayed at the hotel for ease access. This hotel is a great place to stay, the staff are helpful and kind. The room was immaculate, and very comfortable. We had a late dinner at the restaurant, our sever was friendly and provided insight into Kent State as she is a graduating Senior. I would definitely stay here again1
- jpJ7942RV (10/5): Amazing service from Danielle at the bar! - Wonderful stay! Special shoutout to Danielle at the bar :) Even if she isn't a University of Michigan fan... Her service to our group was amazing!
- kathyhX9204XA (10/5): Friendly Staff - Friendly and attentive staff and housekeeping! Interlaced kindly with guests, well-kept rooms, and accommodating to guests needs.
- 115cajp (10/5): Friendly and helpful - Extremely friendly and helpful staff, including restaurant servers. Hotel was very clean throughout and the bed was so comfy. Several parties were happening outside the hotel, but inside was all quiet and peaceful. Would definitely recommend you to others.
- Kathleen (9/5): We'll be back! - The location is perfect! Pillows were lumpy.
- Exploration681951 (10/5): The Best Place to Stay in Kent - We have stayed at the Kent State Hotel and Conference Center twice when we visited Kent to see a show. On both occasions, the facility was clean and quiet, the staff was pleasant and helpful, and the location can't be beat. It is one block from the Kent Stage in a neighborhood with lots of restaurants. The campus is a block in the other direction, with lots of walking paths. And there is also a really nice walking path a few blocks away along the river that runs through town.
- jbV3643AB (10/5): Kent State University Hotel gets an "A"! - The Kent State University Hotel is located in the center of Kent, close to everything. It's clean, well maintained, and comfortable. Our trip was a quick one, traveling from San Francisco to catch a show at the Kent Stage, which is only one block from the Hotel. Being from California where everything is expensive, we were pleased with the room rate, and prices at the bar and restaurant, which we enjoyed. Staff was helpful, friendly, and fun. The building is new, as are the room furnishings. Keep up the great work!
- Christian (10/5): -
- Anthony (5/5): Overall good place wasn’t happy about the bug bites though - Room was modern Girlfriend got bug bites from bed
- Jeanetta (8/5): -
- Discover25022259337 (10/5): Work Trip - I am with a tax-exempt company and booking hotels can be difficult. The employee who booked the reservation made it so easy and attached our documents, so there were no issues at all! The staff was friendly, and the location was great! The staff suggested Lazia for dinner, and it was fantastic. We had breakfast at the hotel, and the waitstaff was friendly and fast! Overall, it was a great experience.
- 380meredithj (10/5): Great experience - must stay! - Fantastic hotel!!! Clean, quiet, attentive - everything you want in a hotel. Plus the rooms are GIGANTIC!! We just had a standard room and had more space than needed!
- coloradob2026 (6/5): A Hotel With Potential That Needs Attention to the Details - As the premier hotel in Kent, this property sets high expectations with its nightly rates. Unfortunately, the overall experience does not consistently match that price point. The gaps show up in the smaller details, staff training, attention to service, and the overall refinement of the environment and amenities.
The hotel clearly benefits from its unique location and concept, which allows it to command a higher rate. However, the operational execution has not yet reached the level that the pricing suggests. With stronger attention to detail and a more polished service culture, the property could absolutely deliver the experience guests expect at this tier.
Otherwise, the pricing may feel difficult to justify for many travelers.
That said, the hotel remains a pleasant place to stay and is very conveniently located near downtown.
One design element that continues to puzzle me is the extremely bright hallway lighting. The intensity feels unnecessarily harsh, almost blinding at times, and seems to generate additional heat in the corridors without adding much value to the guest experience.
- L2647PHjamesb (8/5): My very first trip to Kent, OH. - Great hotel. Friendly & helpful staff. Great room! Great location! Great access to campus & good restaurants. I stayed in the presidential suite!
- Tom (8/5): - Breakfast was good. Would have preferred a buffet. Pool was out of service.
- lisan640 (10/5): Perfect hotel when traveling to see your Kent student - I had a last minute trip to Kent for a family emergency and the Kent State Hotel and Conference Center was there for me throughout the week. From an extremely early check in so I could get some much needed rest to several reservation extensions throughout the week. Everyone was so friendly and understanding. The room became my place to relax after a stressful day and when the refrigerator was making noises they came in an replaced it right away. I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Kent.
- Kathleen (9/5): - Great location.
- andy (10/5): -
- amandapA2544JH (10/5): Family trip - Rooms were clean and all staff was very helpful! Food is delicious there
- Lang (2/5): It sucked - Not much... it was clean Well i paid a lot for my room that was supposed to have a hot tub. The hot tub was in the pool room instead and the pool was considerably smaller than expected. Also I got an additional $200 charge after I checked out but never was told why and never refunded anything.
- P1675ROmollyh (8/5): Great Service, Bad Pool/hot tub - Front desk couldn’t have been nicer & more helpful! Came with friends as new Kent alumni and loved how close it was to campus & night life :) we were REALLY looking forward to going to the pool/hot tub but we were highly disappointed & a bit grossed out by it. We walked in and it wasn’t steamy/hot in the room, there was a brown film on the hot tub foam (we thought it could be self tan), upon getting in we were overwhelmed by a horrific odor we could only describe as a moldy/fishy smell that frankly made me gag. We knew we had to get out and wanted to quickly rinse off in the pool to get the initial grossness off. The pool smelled relatively normal but there was a cloudiness to it. We immediately left and showered like crazy. The overall service, location, and room cleanliness was great but we were very grossed out & disappointed with the pool/hot tub area
- debbiepZ8377LU (10/5): Kent Stage Event - Reservation and front desk staff were great. Checking in and out was a pleasant experience. Staff were helpful with questions regarding parking, shopping and restaurants in the area. The room was comfortable and quiet. The location was within walking distance to the music venue we attended as were many local shops and restaurants. Breakfast was the only meal we ate at the on site restaurant, that being said I was impressed by the small things that I thought made my meal special. Like hashbrowns that came with red onion and peppers , red onion was also used in the breakfast skillets that we ordered. We will definitely come back and recommend to others.
I feel this last comment is good to know but does not reflect upon the Hotel just something to be aware of. Many restaurants and shops are closed on Mondays and some didn't open until noon on Tuesday.

- elizabethkP3478RV (8/5): Great place to stay, but hot tub wasn’t broken in the middle of winter. - Love this place but super bummed the hot tub wasn’t working and no one told us prior nor gave us any reimbursement. It’s one of the reasons we pick this place over others. We’ve stayed many times and the staff are always friendly, rooms are always clean and beds are comfy. So easy to walk to everything. Also, they don’t serve alcohol at the restaurant until after brunch time, so ended up going to the Nut House, which had a great bottomless mimosa deal.
- Traveler33187572194 (6/5): Good stay - My husband and I live in Pittsburgh and wanted a quick getaway to explore some areas near us. We picked Kent because I know a lot of people who graduated from the school and wanted to check out campus and some of the town. We really wanted a hotel with a pool and a hot tub so we could enjoy our Valentine's Day weekend. However, the pool and hot tub were cold. The room was cold and the pool was freezing. I hope that they get this fixed. We ended up buying pool passes from the school for a day. So it worked out but it would have been nice to be included in the hotel. Kent was a fun town. We enjoyed good food and had fun at some of the bars nearby. Great shopping! All in all it was a good trip. Some other concerns were the room was a little bit dusty and they're definitely were some maintenance issues including lights out in elevator lobby, the cold pool/ hot tub.
- vjojune (10/5): Clean & Convenient Location to Kent State University - Recently stayed at Kent State Hotel and Conference for a recent business visit to Kent State University. Hotel was conveniently located to campus. It was clean and decorated in the Kent State colors, which was a nice touch. Staff was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Will be staying here again for future visits.
- C5475WZnataliek (6/5): Terribly Disappointment - We called the hotel front desk on January 30th to find out if the jacuzzi was working. She said yes and I said "are you sure because the lats time we were there it was broken."
She said "yes I'm looking at people in it right now"
So I booked the room because our daughter attends Kent State and my husband and I both have sore muscles and really wanted to lounge in a jacuzzi. When we got there on Jan 3st it was still broke. Did she lie?
Also the restaurant was so clod we had to take everything to our room.
- Alfred (4/5): - Charged parking after check out. Nickle and diming after several nights of staying Staff not very friendly
- P1481EEsteveb (10/5): Great place to stay - We look forward to my companies end of the year celebration held here every year. Our room was perfect the staff was great and the location is awsome
- Flyer520812 (10/5): Great stay! - I love coming back to Kent State University Hotel. This is our second visit in 2 months and both have been wonderful.
- Estevan (9/5): Experiência muito legal! - A NEVE CAINDO E A SIMPATIA DAS PESSOAS. NADA.
- Brunetto (9/5): -
- zehaoz2026 (8/5): Excellent Hotel, But the Pillows Need Rethinking - This hotel is wonderful in many ways, and I’m sure most guests would agree. My only concern is with the pillows provided. They are unusually tall, so much so that even I, a six-foot-tall man, found them quite uncomfortable. I can only imagine how challenging they might be for children or smaller guests. The tall pillows contributed to my poor sleep quality at the hotel. I would suggest offering pillows in a variety of heights, or gradually replacing the current ones with more standard options.
- Daniel (9/5): overall good experience - clean comfortable rooms, close to food/shops offsite parking, additional charge to park, but at least was relatively inexpensive
- Amanda (8/5): Great central to everything - Great central location to the college and lots of little shops and food. Was notified right away when room was ready because I showed up early. Bed were comfortable pillows were too!. Didn't eat at the restaurant but it smelled amazing. Shower head could use updating mine lept going back down to original postion when trying to move it but it still worked fine. water pressure was a tad lower in shower than I like but was still good.
- Getaway49874984163 (10/5): Thank you for a very plesant stay. - Very friendly and helpful staff, I enjoyed the spacious rooms in a central location, direct proximity to the university campus, highly recommended.
- Sharnell (10/5): - In the middle of downtown. Walking distance to business/entertainment/food. You hear every step of the person above you. Makes you think if people below can hear your steps.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Kendra (8/5): Exactly what you need for one very comfy night! - We had a very good room, a nice comfy bed, and a very easy time with check in, check out, and all of our booking! The room was exactly what we needed for one night in Kent! The room could have been a touch cleaner, and it would be super cool if there was a simple included breakfast, rather than the only option for breakfast at the hotel being additional money.
- Shelly (8/5): -
- Gabriel (10/5): -
- Mushinzimana (10/5): Fantastic - Staff and cleanliness Nothin
- Kevin (7/5): -
- 233brentr (10/5): Top notch all around - Best place to stay in the city. Very clean, friendly staff, safe location, covered parking available. Excellent atmosphere, great for students, professionals, families, and anyone else that wants a clean, quiet place to stay downtown.
- Maike (10/5): -
- Mahsoonh (6/5): A true feedback from an International Travel Expert - Hi, 2nd time to visit the hotel. Nothing change, a.e, I was given the same room in Jan 2025 & jan 2026, broken toilet tile not replaced! inactive lobby area. houskeeping nonprofessional deal!. The only positive thing is Mrs. Sara the GM, friendly, supportive & helpful.
- Diego (10/5): - Quarto bastante espaçoso, excelente climatização Não fazem as camas todos os dias.
- Jennifer (8/5): Convenient! - Love the location! So close to university and the nicest hotel in town! Beds weren’t as comfy as I remembered. Towels were dry and scratchy. No soap provided for in the shower. And toilet paper rolls were both almost empty.
- O3324XMbrianr (2/5): Aweful customer service and management- DO NOT STAY HERE - 1 star. This hotel needs serious management oversight. On Jan 7, the evening front desk employee escalated a basic request for a noon checkout into a hostile situation. She later came to our room at 10:30 PM, pounded on the door, and yelled, then said she was calling the police. Police arrived ~15 minutes later and evicted us.
This was unnecessary, unprofessional, and frankly alarming. Guests should not fear being removed by police because an employee can’t handle a normal customer request.
Also: the 4th floor smelled heavily of weed, and the fire alarm went off the night before due to someone smoking in a room—yet we’re the ones removed over a checkout request. The priorities here are completely backwards.
To make matters worse, I’ve tried contacting management about this incident and have not received any response. Until this is addressed, I would not recommend staying here.
- Rachael (10/5): - This is a beautiful hotel-- the indoor pool and hot tub were a little too chilly, but everything else was great. It's a spectacular location that even has great coffee! Cold pool and hot tub.
- 593ritaw (10/5): Wedding and reception - Went for a wedding and reception. Venue was very nice and was great to have everything all in one place The room was nice and clean.
- susanmH5201NA (6/5): Too Loud in rooms - Only game in town so we went there. If there were other options we wlould go someplace else. Rooms are noisy and we were woken up by both other rooms and items in the hall. This has happened everytime we stay.
- Daniel (10/5): Awesome stay in downtown Kent. - Great location, friendly staff.
- 11stan11 (10/5): Short Business Trip - GREAT Stay - Only spent one night at the hotel but it was very nice. Great service and great value. We hosted some customers at the hotel bar and it was a perfect atmosphere.
- M7050IKcatherinek (8/5): Missing Bulb - I had a good stay; the only complaint is the lamp behind the chair didn't have a light bulb. When staff came up to put the bulb in, she realized the piece that holds the bulb was missing, fix it please.
- Colleen (10/5): Fantastic!!! - When we checked in we were asked if we were celebrating anything special It was our anniversary
The staff brought to our door a goodie bag and some beverages the sales manager delivered it and then asked if we would like to see the model room they are renovating in 2026 It was perfect
- Judy (10/5): Very pleasant - Good location
- jjh (10/5): -
- thomas (10/5): -
- Mindi (10/5): -
- S5041YVkimc (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Beautiful room & excellent service! Bummer that the pool was closed though. The room was spotless except for the previous guest's smelly leftovers that were left in the fridge.
- Stefanie (10/5): - The proximity to Kent State and all the shops and restaurants.
Nice size rooms and bathrooms.
Good views That the pool was closed
- Pamela (10/5): -
- Timothy (5/5): Pool And Hot Tub were out of order Parking at the garage a block away is inconvenient -
- Ann (7/5): - Clean and comfortable The pool/spa were out of order
- Everson (9/5): - Bom confortável e tudo novinho. Tudo muito bom.
- briannah414 (10/5): Great experience - Clean rooms with friendly staff. Front desk very helpful. Assisted me with changing my reservation. Comfortable beds
- Lynn (10/5): - Location. Very new and clean
- Flyer05621609368 (8/5): Lack of customer service for noise complaint - We had a very noisy room next door. I tried calling the front desk several times and never got through in the afternoon or again in the evening. Finally, i went downstairs to tell them, and I was not treated with respect. The attendant was defensive and annoyed at the request.
The noise was so loud I could hear them when getting off the elevator down the hall. Cursing, yelling and screaming throughout the daytime and into the evening. The second night they carried on until 3 AM
- Douglas (10/5): Always a pleasure - Location, comfort and price Can’t think of anything
- 920aidank (10/5): Larry cordaro - Excellent service. Excellent rooms. Will definitely be staying there when I visit again. Janie and her staff were amazing
- E6768XRbrandye (8/5): Clean stay near campus - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very nice stay!
This was our first time staying at the Kent State University Hotel & Conference Center, and overall we were really impressed. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well-kept, and the hotel itself felt fresh and well-maintained.
The only downsides were that parking is located across the street, which made it a little tricky carrying our luggage in, and it was a bit noisy in the hallway at times. Still, we were really happy with the cleanliness and the overall experience. We’d definitely stay here again when visiting Kent!
- N8482ENbethr (8/5): General Feedback - I am surprised that the rooms do not have smart tvs in them; this seems like a standard amenity everywhere I go, especially when a hotel is a conference center. This is my biggest complaint. I think money could be spent to update the rooms in this way.
The bathroom had a mildewy smell to it, though it appeared to be clean.
We had poor sleep because we were next door to a family that was loud and chairs were constantly being dragged across the floor, which isn't the hotels fault, except to say that the room could have been reserved further away.
