Guest Reviews
- Jody (1/5): Made me want to go home. - The pillows were comfortable & the television was easy to operate & had good choices. 1. Musty/moldy smell
2. No wifi
3. No extra locks on motel door
4. No control of room temperature
5. Thin blankets
6. No coffee maker in room
7. No breakfast offered
- Matthew (1/5): - Unfortunately the event that I was to attend got canceled the last. Refund option didn't exist because of late cancelation of my event. I do like the proximity of the place to the track.
- Amanda (1/5): This place was disgusting. - Nothing. The office smelled like a Chinese restaurant, they couldn’t get their computer to work and had to use their cell phones. The first room they tried to give us smelled horribly of stale cigarettes and was not handicap accessible which I asked about in the beginning. You could barely open the door as it would hit the bed. I told them I was not acceptable. We got a different room which they said was bigger. I asked again if it was handicap accessible and they said yes. My husband is a quadriplegic and is in motorized wheelchair. We barely made in the door with the help of three people. The room smelled a little better but not much. When asked for a refund they said they couldn’t. We left to go for lunch. When we returned the door would not open. I had to go to the office twice before they finally came out to check the door. It wouldn’t open for them even when they used the master. I had to wait to get into our room. They used some tools to take off part of the door lock and then told us they would fix the lock tomorrow sometime. I struggled to get my husband in the room. The neighbors next to use where very nice and helped us. The room still smelled, a bee came out of no where and I had to kill it. The smoke detector hung from the wall, dangling. The tub u could lock it to take it bath it was seized shut. The drain had metal cover that did not sit in and movable. The room was cold and had old baseboard heat, with a thermostat from the 70’s which I wasn’t even sure worked. I was completely dissatisfied, we were afraid of leaving the room again that night because we worried we wouldn’t be able to get back in. I will never ever stay here again.l and if could have gotten a refund I would have left and gone to another hotel.
- Russell (4/5): It blowed - Nothing management was poor and the poorly conducted No breakfast, no ice .no vending machine.
- Gregg (7/5): -
- Lamar (1/5): -
- Scott (1/5): Awful!!! - Nothing. Totally disgusting. Dirty. Nothing inside room worked. Shower didn't work. Would like to seek refund.
- Marietta (4/5): Hopefully I won’t - Close to where we were going Staff not friendly - no one came to the office when we tried to check out- no coffee for the morning - furniture dirty -
- Brenda (10/5): -
- Brenda (10/5): Over night stay was great location for a good nights rest - Peaceful To quiet at times
- Gaddy (4/5): -
- Jonelle (8/5): - Wish we could have checked in early but they were accommodating with at least letting us get the key early.
The AC worked great and the room was very comfortable.
- Suzanne (6/5): - The bedding in the room felt damp when we got into bed
- Mike (4/5): - Only stayed here because it was the only location where I could get a room even close to State College. Motel is old and the rooms overpriced (>$300/night). Room was dirty. Glad we only slept here for a few hours. Arrived late (1:30 AM and left a few hours later (~8AM)
- Mindy (8/5): - Staff was helpful. Area was quiet and great location. Parking was awesome and convenient. It’s an older place and there were many signs of age. It also was not as clean as it should have been. Overall, was good. It was sufficient. If you are looking for luxury or new. Not the place. Staff was super nice
- Debbie (4/5): - We arrived at night and area appears dicey scary
Motel is like rent for an hour use
Family was very unsettled staying there
And we were all adults
No wonder a sign is posted NO REFUNDS FOR EARLY CHECK OUT
No smoking room smelt of smoke
Bathtub had two bugs
Place needs renovating
Was totally ripped off with the price
It should b max $59 a night not $300
Couldn’t wait to sleep and get out sorry for review but need to be honest THE PLACE NEEDS RENOVATIONS
- Andreas (1/5): -
- William (8/5): - Ok Location
- Brian (4/5): Never again - Wi-Fi was so weak it was totally useless.
Prices were way too high for what you were getting.
Facilities generally are run down and barely adequate.
- Kurt (6/5): - It's like going back into the 1960's typical Motor Lodge. Need a place to stay that's close to the Port Royal Raceway? Food and beer readily available close-by, as well as local Distillery... nice!
- Paul (4/5): Had to leave unexpectantly and staff was rude when trying to check out. - Location Staff at the desk was rude
- Lexiana32 (6/5): -
- April (6/5): -
- Makenzy (1/5): The water situation needs resolved for future comfortability. - Room was clean and well kept. Location was close to everything needed. Upon arrival room reeked of sulfur odor and water was bad. Rendering the bathroom unusable with the exception of the toilet. Given the inability to bathe and use water it was very unsatisfying.
- John (10/5): -
- Glenn (2/5): - Motel is in poor condition, WiFi advertised was so poor could not use tablet to watch apps. When I asked about the poor internet service he showed me his phone and said look I'm connected. When trying to check out the language barrier was so bad it took me 15 minutes to get a receipt.
- Charles (10/5): -
- Charles (10/5): -
- Jonathan (6/5): - Internet access. Bed was very hard, pillows were hard but an alright place to stay for one night
- Eli (8/5): - Was a great place for the price
- James (10/5): - Nice place
- Daniel (10/5): - This place is old fashioned. No computer. I could literally see my name hand written in the guest book. It's nice to know some places still operate the old fashioned way.
- David (6/5): Okay - An older motel, however the room pictures are accurate and the room was clean. The bathroom tub and sink in the bathroom didn't drain well. My main warning is on the level of noise - from the A/C and refrigerator inside the room and the noise from the road and railroad trains passing in the night.
- Alma (4/5): Unsatisfied - I arrive at the budget in told the girl i had reservation she had to get someone to check me in.
Then i found a bug on the bed i had to check the bed to make sure there wasnt anymore .
Called ask for an extra pillow . They told me they didnt have any extra pillow.
I have family member that worked in hotel/ motels they shouldve had extra . I WILl NOT STAY HERE AGAIN
- Courtney (3/5): -
- Gregg (9/5): - Was no breakfast but knew that when booking. No coffee available.
- Nicole (7/5): It was clean and convenient - Clean
- Frank (10/5): -
- Christina (2/5): Violation of personal privacy - It was 9am and my door was opened and a staff member walked in my room without knocking and seen myself and my husband completely nude of the bed and the hotel didn't do anything about it but say sorry no compensation or anything for violating my personal privacy
- Jeffrey (8/5): Very good - Love that place near Port Royal Speedway and little disappointed no pool but love cute picnic wood house above old cement pool. I'm disappointed that housekeeper didn't clean Saturday awhile we away to Port Royal Speedway. After race and went to motel and noticed housekeeper didn't clean, didn't made beds, didn't pick up dirty towels and didnt put clean towels. All other looks fine.
- Donald (2/5): - This place was filthy, smelled badly of cigarette smoke and had live bugs inside front door which I took to the front desk. I asked to have a refund and I drove 40 miles after midnight to find another hotel.
- Lj (2/5): Very poor - It was close to the hospital we needed to go to. We literally only came there to sleep a couple of hours.. The AC didn't work. The bathroom was very dirty. When checking in I was asked for my pin number to my debit card. Never have had that happen before and it made me very uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend this location and I will not be staying there again.
- Howard (4/5): - I didnt really expect much for the price of $73 but the overwhelming smell of air fresheners covered mildew didn'th help. There was a web of bugs at the main office outside of the door and plenty of little flying things in my room
- Richard (4/5): - This is very much an hotel for those on a very limited budget. Things that didn't work:
1. TV cable signal didn't work.
2. The phone in the room didn't work.
3. Even though advertised, I have no wifi signal in my room. I used my vehicle wifi as a substitute, but had to sit outside to get that signal.
4. It's the first hotel I've been in, (and I've been in a lot), that did not have Kleenex available in the room.
The young woman running the hotel admitted she was new to the job. She was very friendly, and was able to offer me some restaurant suggestions when I arrived.
- barry (8/5): - Exactly what we needed.
- Jim (6/5): - My room was comfortable and clean but smelled like someone had smoked in it. Great price, but you get what you pay for.
- Cara (1/5): Never again - Close to port royal speedway Room was dirty old smelled of smoke. The walls were dirty, toilet seat not right, bed was from 50 yrs ago..
- David (6/5): About what you'd expect - Carpet dirty, windows probably not washed in years. Shower faucet broken. Beds fine.
- ROBERT (2/5): - Looks like last update was done in the 60’s.
- Erik (2/5): Could be used as a movie set for a slasher film. - Where do I start, first off the "staff" who live on site are not friendly and acted as if I bothered them during check in and check out. The room, was straight out of a horror scene. The sheets were note clean, the entire room was filthy, and the furniture is recycled from other hotels. Every thing had other hotels branding on it. The shower was disgusting and did not appear to have been cleaned in several weeks. There was still hair from previous guest on the walls of the shower. None of the outlets worked except the power strip that had the TV, Cable Box, minifridge, and clock plugged into it. The heat/ac unit barely controlled the temperature in the room and looked and ran like it was on its last leg.
While I did not expect the room to be 5 star this clearly was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.
Would not stay at or recommend anyone staying there. Luckily I was only there one night and if it wasn't so late when I got there I would have left and gone someplace else.
- Carlos (10/5): - Nice motel and great service.
- Haja Fatou (2/5): - I stayed for 11 pm to 7 am only one night at budget Inn and woke up with spots all over my face and body BED BUGS .When I called the Motel to complain they asked my why I wait to tell them this was an issue.I called less than 24hrs after checking out .They were rude I would not suggest staying there.
- Firzana (6/5): - For the price, its an okay place to stay. Outdated but the water pressure and temp was perfect in the shower.
- Baumgardner (7/5): Good - Comfortability
- Hamersly (8/5): Very good - Didn't have breakfast
- Robert (6/5): - Quiet
- Deborah (2/5): Gross! - Gross. Deserves zero. Reeked of stale smoke, butt can outside door, micro and tv didnt work. Moved me yo another room with remote not working. Gross threadbare blanket, grungy furnishings and heafs up, no coffee!
- Jesus (9/5): Superb -
- Brett (8/5): - Clean quiet reasonable
- Marci (4/5): - Not clean (bathroom walls, bathroom floor)
Door had cold air all around
Hard to get warm, Keep temp
Very basic
- Brett (8/5): - No one bothers you
- Brett (8/5): - No o e bothers you
- Brett (10/5): - Nice kept and very understandingstaff
- Brett (8/5): - I like how accessable the rooms are from the parking lot the only complaint i have is the blankets are not very warm
- Whitworth (1/5): Bad -
- Jose (4/5): - Look Folks. We stayed there one night after a Penn State football game. It's about 44 miles from State College but the only thing available. At first concerned about the bad reviews but honestly it was clean, quiet, beds were sufficiently comfortable. Bathroom clean and good enough. Overpriced due to huge game in town. Not for long term stays. Guys, not an issue. Ladies, will complain. Overall it served its purpose.
- Brett (10/5): - Quiet and comfortable
- Joshua (2/5): - We all got bed bug bites. Unacceptable.
- John (8/5): Motel fulfilled my needs and would use again in future trips to this area. - Was able to check in early to get room key to avoid checking in during late evening hours.
Room was clean and comfortable.
Cable TV easy to use and enhance relaxation. No complaints.
- Stephen (2/5): - Really bad and overpriced
- Robert (2/5): - Condition of building, room, bathroom, office, etc. was terrible
- Cheryl (5/5): It was a place to sleep -
- Charles (6/5): Late PSU game shelter - The hotel serves its purpose as relief from driving into the wee hours of the morning to get home after late PSU games. Port in a storm so to speak. Otherwise you wouldn’t choose to stay here.
- MARC (6/5): Out of necessity and affordability - Quick overnight stay. Just needed a place to sleep.
- Amy (2/5): - While the bed and bath linens were clean and the bed comfortable the room reeked of stale cigarette smoke to the point that upon returning home I had to wash everything in our bags because they had absorbed the smell. The AC also only ran on fan.
- Emily (7/5): Good - Was able to check us in a little early Lack of uber/Lyft services in the area. But that's not on the motel.
- Charlene (8/5): - The deadbolt was not aligned properly, therefore, it would not lock. Only the passcode which could open it.
- eric s (2/5): - Well to start check in time was 2pm. I arrive at 4pm and I was told ten minutes to clean the room. Twenty minutes later they give me the key and said it is all ready. I go to the room they were still cleaning it. I had a event I needed to be at so I just left my stuff in the room and left. Come back later my stuff was still there so that is a positive. The room smelled and was no where clean. Yes the place is old and needs some major renovations. But you can atleast make sure it is clean and smells half way decent. All it takes a little elbow grease. For the cost it was terrible. Only thing convenient was location.
- Verna (6/5): Pleasant - Location Bathroom light was broken so you could not see in the bathroom at all.
- Rachael (4/5): - We found the bedroom and bathroom to be too dirty to stay. We walked in looked the place over and decided we wouldn’t feel comfortable sleep there. The pillowcases were dirty. The tub had hair all over it. The tub floor was dirty. The dirt hand prints on the bathroom door were also unpleasant.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Always a pleasure to stay here
- Lawrence D (2/5): - I drove up from IL I had a 11 Hr drive to get there. I was to be there on Sunday night but I had the opening to leave Saturday at 2:00pm and showed up around 2 am Sunday morning. I was able to get my room if a paid a extra night Which would be for Saturday no Problem. First thing I what'd todo was to get some sleep I went to fold back the the topper and move the pillows There were dead bugs grouped together under the pillow with traces of dark spots on the pillows and sheets . I went to the other bed and looked under the pillows did not see any thing and this is at around 3 am I did have my zip up bed roll with me I slept with a my cloths on and the bed roll zipped up. With 4 flying Moths or some thing fly all night . Got up early took a shower with my socks on the tub and surrounding remined me of old hunting camp in Minnesota. Not clean I did not expect this place to be 5 star but -5star come on . I asked for my second night credit I was told call expedia so far not eazy to get to so i called my card people to make sure I get my 1 day refund. Larry L
- Verified traveler (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - This hotel was a nightmare. I was here for a conference in the area I was a guest at. The room was dirty, needing many updates. There were no washcloths, and when I went to dry my hair the plug in the bathroom did not work. I had to go out to where you sleep to plug the hairdryer into a stip plug that was dirty, and I had no mirror to see how my hair was drying!!! Also, the electric went out SEVERAL times when I tried to dry my hair. Not a good way to prepare for a conference!!! My son got a soda out of the vending machine said it didn't taste right, and it expired 2 years before. Hotels.com would not refund my money. DO NOT STAY HERE....I warned you....
- Juliana (2/5): - This property was disgusting. The sheets were filthy the rooms stunk like rotten fish. The worst place I have ever been in my life!!! It was so bad that my kids and I ended up leaving the room and sleeping in my car in the parking lot. It was absolutely disgraceful!!
- Roger (9/5): Superb -
- JOY (2/5): Race trip 2024 - Horrible!!! This use to be a very clean place to stay years ago.
This time not, doirs were very dirty, along with the walls, floors and whatever was in the room! Bugs justy nasty!
Do not book any rooms with this place
- James (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (2/5): - Called to cancel after reading reviews and was told I had no reservation. 3 days later I had a pending charge on my card. DO NOT BOOK HERE!
- Katherine (2/5): - Beds and pillows were hard as a rock. Linen was stained
- Jennifer (4/5): - Easy, friendly, quick check in. Worn out condition was expected but had hoped for better cleanliness (bee crawling on microwave; fly in room; hair in sink drain; something spilled and dried on wall by desk; fire alarm hanging from wires out of wall). Could hear next unit's tv in middle of the night (was not super loud - just thin walls so like hearing constant, mumbled talking while trying to fall asleep). Worked in a pinch. Towels and sheets clean.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (6/5): - Sheets and pillow cases had multiple hairs found on bed upon arrival and pulling down sheets
- Ryan (5/5): Passable -
- Melodie (1/5): Will never go to this motel again and highly disappointed - Nothing. The property was very dirty, hair on the sheets, poop smudged on bathroom door. Sheet yellow stained and smoke holes all over the comforter. We had to leave and get another room and they refused to give me my money back. Nothing. - Kenneth (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michael (8/5): - Good 👍
- Ricardo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ashley (7/5): Pleasant stay, comfortable and clean rooms, the people running the place were nice to deal with, don’t rely on the WiFi, - Quiet location (compared to where we have been staying) and the pillows were incredibly comfortable. The heater took a while to warm the room up and to figure out how to use it as it seemed like it was from the 80’s but it was in full force it was wonderful! The WiFi is beyond terrible, I’ve had dial up internet that’s been faster than the WiFi here. We had to travel to Sheetz many times to use the internet there instead. Sometimes it would take over 10 minutes just to load a simple google search. And the walls were very thin, we could hear the person next door snoring.
- Ashley (10/5): - Super convenient and actually extremely nice stay
