Rebecca (10/5): - This is a lonely, fairly small hotel. We stayed in the Panorama Suite which was really spacious, impressive and comfortable with great views. This is a great hotel to be near the zell am see slope, walking distance to rental shops and the slope. The breakfast was nice, although the restaurant is quite small and it does get very busy with everyone wanting to hit the slopes in the morning. There is space at the hotel to store ski equipment, although it is limited and if you stay or later you're not guaranteed space. We were a little disappointed but the facilities, we thought there would be more spa like facilities but it is just a sauna in the basement which we didn't fancy going in. In the local area there isn't too much going on - we found the dining options limited from a vegetarian/vegan perspective, and a lot of activities that were recommended were not open until summer (i.e boat trips on the lake). We would rather have stayed in Kaprun on reflection. However it was still a good stay, and it's also conveniently located for bus stops to take you to the other slopes. Would recommend for a short stay.

Great evening music and street food festival and laser light show on the lake while we were there. Very good service by hotel staff and quite friendly.

mirandayork26 (10/5): Absolute perfection for us - It’s rare that we could say that everything about the hotel, but this is that rare occasion. From the moment we arrived, when a staff member hurried out to greet us and took one of our cases, we felt welcome. This continued throughout our stay with all the staff being friendly and very helpful. Our room on the second floor had a balcony, as requested. The room was spacious with plenty of hanging and shelf space for our clothes. The en suite shower room was also excellent, with a very good shower. The towels were changed daily though there was a heated towel rail if we’d wanted to dry the towels to re-use them. It’s a good hairdryer beside a useful make up mirror. The room has a small fridge which had a large bottle of water which was replaced on some days. Also tea / coffee making facilities. By the door in the room there is a coat rack with a ‘tray’ beneath for shoes. Robes and slippers are provided too but I didn’t use them as I’d brought my own. The bed was very comfortable and there was a settee / day bed also in the room. We only watched the television on the first evening because there was some football on. Everywhere in the hotel is extremely clean. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. The usual fruit juices, water, fruit, yogurts and cereal. Also à tray of cooked meats and cheese. Small dishes with tomatoes, peppers and other salad items. There was also a heated container with sausages, bacon and scrambled eggs. The staff would also cook omelettes and fried eggs plus toasties for anyone who wanted that. There was always a wide selection of pastries (including mini croissants and mini cinnamon buns) and cakes. The coffee was seriously good. This hotel also has a small rooftop terrace / bar where the views all round are stunning. À lovely bar / lounge area on the ground floor too. The hotel is located just steps away from the nearest restaurants and shops and there’s a wide variety to choose from. We got guest cards and travel cards free from the hotel which gave us unlimited train and bus travel in the Salzburg region. We used this to go to Salzburg by train and used the local buses in .salzburg. We also had two trips out on the buses from Zell - to Karin and the glacier then to the Krimml waterfalls. Great scenery along all the routes on comfortable transport. There’s plenty to do in Zell am See including boat trips on the lake or little boats if you feel braver! There are a couple of swimming pools in the town and various museums. It’s possible to walk right round the lake. We definitely recommend the hotel Heitzmann and I’ve probably missed some important features.

simonkW7897UB (4/5): WARNING IF CONSIDERING - Excellent staff, Poor culinary experience - - Recently got back from my yearly ski trip, having stayed in Zell am See, in numerous locations throughout since the early 2000s. I would like to start this review by acknowledging the staffs excellent work and attentiveness. However I have gained strong opinions elsewhere. Before starting the trip, I had requested a room upgrade, which thankfully I did get. However the Spa bath in said room didn't work at all which was one of the main selling points of the room upgrade, as this is advertised all throughout their rooms on the website. ( I was going to bring this up with a manager/ owner, however I didn't want to disappoint or spoil my ski holiday anymore going off what others have said, which I strongly believe is accurate ) The hotel room was clean, and large which is a positive, however we found the dining experience to be extremely lacking for a 4 star ski holiday, and reminded us more so of an undignified "British friendly" menu that you'd find in Albania, including items such as fish and chips. Breakfast in the morning was slightly more acceptable, however we also found that if you weren't down within the first 30 minutes then anything worth trying had already gone and wasn't being replenished. We were early for breakfast 80% of the time, however we also found that breakfast opening at 7:30 was also an issue if you're actually a skier and care about being able to get first tracks in the morning, as this is difficult execute without rushing around. 7 am would be much / and has proven to be much more successful in the past. The main issues are around dinner. Having stayed in many hotels in Zell, and returning to them, we have always received an excellent and beautiful variety of Austrian food / European foods / buffets every night. Always satisfied at the end of the meal, and feeling well looked after. Unfortunately this wasn't the case this time. Meals varied from Melon and Ham starter, to Cream cheese tartine with pesto, however 1/2 of the starters didn't even come with the pesto and was just a lump of cream cheese tower on a plate. To the mains including but are not limited to ; a chicken drumstick on a plate of pasta with a white sauce, fish and chips, a "cheese dumpling" which resembled more of a left over morning breakfast, fried into a patty, a schnitzel the size of your palm with a side of 1 baby potato quartered, fish risotto that resembled a poached frozen fish for the spar shop, to name a few. If you are dessert lover, also look elsewhere as it was also a variety of limp half portion strudel or the same chocolate mousse in different formats. Due to the food we spent many of the nights skipping dinner and searching town instead. In conclusion: if you're looking for a room only or BNB if its your last resort maybe go here, however if you want to feel like you have had a fulfilling holiday book elsewhere. Unfortunately we have never been so disappointed.
Oasisgirl80 (10/5): Great ski hotel - Good size comfortable room with plenty of storage space and nice balcony. Comfortable bed. Good modern bathroom with powerful shower. Nice breakfast buffet. Didn't try the evening meal. Nice bar and friendly helpful staff. Ski boot room is a bit cramped but fine if you can avoid using it during the peak rush. Good location for skiing - short walk to the lifts/ ski bus and in the heart of town for the evenings and apres.

Negatives: Food was not great at dinner time. No free tap water, had to pay 5 euro for 1litre of water at table
G8003TQanitam (10/5): Great hotel for many reasons - We had an amazing time at The Heitzmann Hotel. Very welcoming, friendly and very clean. The food is fantastic. Location perfect. All staff were great but I must mention two in particular. Firstly, Frank (the tank!) the barman, he was excellent. Made great drinks, had great humour and always a friendly chat with the occasional dance move. He never stopped working, even whilst chatting. Always cleaning the bar area and grabbing the mop if there were any footmarks on the floor. He was able to do all this whilst watching who else in the bar needed a refill. The other one was the lovely Simone ( or Simona !). I loved her daily cheeky banter in the restaurant. I really hope they are both still here when we return.

The property was spotless and beautifully modern, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere . The food was absolutely incredible – every meal was a treat, with a wide variety of delicious options. The staff were exceptional: friendly, attentive, and always happy to help . Their professionalism and warmth made my stay even more enjoyable. The location couldn't be better, It’s just a 5-minute walk to the City Express lift, making access to the slopes incredibly convenient. Plus, being right in the centre of town, close to all the shops, restaurants, and other attractions. The hotel also has a wonderful spa area, including a sauna and steam room, which was great after a long day on the slopes. It was the perfect place to relax. One of my favorite spots was the lovely, cosy, and relaxing bar area. It had a warm ambiance and was ideal for unwinding with a drink. Overall, this hotel offers the perfect combination of cleanliness, style, fantastic food, a charming bar, a luxurious spa, and an unbeatable location. I would highly recommend it.

HanMroz (10/5): A perfect week in Austria. - We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. It is situated perfectly in the middle of the town. Everything is in easy walking distance. The staff are absolutely lovely and were so helpful. They made suggestions when we asked what to do for the day and were lovely to our family especially my elderly father. The breakfast was delicious and we were spoilt for choice every morning. We felt the rooms were spacious and the bed very comfy. It was hot in the rooms at night but the hotel does provide fans to help with that. We wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you so much everyone at the hotel for a great holiday.

We had a family room in the modern new part, which was great. We overlooked the street and the bars below which meant that it was quite noisy. The Mountain View from the room was fab though.

545shar (8/5): Road noise - It’s hard to review this hotel as there are so many positives but one negative that would make me not return. The positives are excellent location as in a 10 minute walk to the bus station , train station, lake ,and pedestrianised restaurant area.Bus and train transport in the area is free with a pass from the hotel a very welcome extra . The staff are super friendly, the hotel is very clean ,the breakfast was lovely with a cooked option as well as a cold buffet style . The major downside was the proximity to the road . Just a kerb between to the road. We stayed in a balcony room but this was on the corner of the building and the road. The road is very busy so noise was constant. However if the windows were shut it was relatively quiet as triple glazed . It was very hot when we were there’s so you couldn’t have them open and the room fan didn’t really cope . Not sure if you requested a room at the back of the hotel that it would be quieter. In fairness we didn’t ask to swap rooms ,as we liked our actual room and paid extra for a balcony . In the winter i don’t expect that this is an issue. Zell am see is so lovely and we really enjoyed our stay.

H9493VLlauras (10/5): Perfect in all ways - This was an unexpected high stay on our trip. The room was spectacular and clean. Location was great. Just a few blocks from train station. Breakfast was really good. The small bar inside was really nice for guests. Really close to all the downtown events
Brianandluc (6/5): Not ideal for skiing - Lovely hotel and polite staff but crystal ski should be clearer when using it. Advertise roof top bar but closed in winter. Say bus outside but 10 min walk in ski boots carrying skis. Boot room has boot heaters but is wholly inadequate for size. Sometimes could not find anywhere to put boots or skis. Plus one tiny bench for 2 to get yourself booted. Hotel not suitable for ski hotel. Only 3 tiny hooks in rooms. Worst of all the coach cannot get to hotel so you are forced to carry all your luggage plus skis and boots from coach terminal to hotel when you arrive and again when depart. All other hotels sent minibus to collect passengers. They could easily have done so.
WGfamilyontour (10/5): Ski trip in Feb - We stayed on a half board basis. The food was plentiful. Nice buffet breakfast spread. With cooked to order eggs option The half board option we added to our booking and was well worth it . Five courses each night we didn’t go hungry. Close to the bus station for getting the ski bus to Kaprun and Saalbach . Just check the bus timetable only one bus an hour to Saalbach. Rooftop bar not open in the winter. Comfortable rooms with Kettles and a fridge. The Two Timez hotel next door was also booked by our party and just as comfortable but the Gin bar out the front could get noisy. Take the half board option at both hotels if offered it’s well worth it
mikepW1758GM (10/5): A brilliant hotel - What a fantastic time we’ve had. Such a warm welcome with really friendly staff. The room is very well equipped, with en-suite facilities, two sinks & a jacuzzi! There’s a free spa downstairs, & a welcoming bar. We have enjoyed every minute of our stay. I’m sure when we return to this fantastic resort.

631sonyam (10/5): Highly recommend this hotel. - This hotel was perfect in every way. Perfect location to lifts and buses and near other restaurants and pubs. The food was amazing as being a vegetarian in Austria was not always a nice experience but the options were great and staff always did their best to accommodate us. The staff were so friendly and a special shout to Simone who was so helpful and always had a smile on her face. Would highly recommend this hotel and the only feedback I would have is there are not enough seats in the boot room.

Perfectly placed in the town centre and close to the slopes. Fitted to a very high standard. Comfortable. Staff super-helpful. Everything very clean. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Monika (10/5): - Wir waren in der Panoramasuite. Super schön. Für die Sauna mussten wir uns wegen Corona anmelden und waren dann auch alleine da. Es ist aber auch nur für max. 3 Personen Platz. Frühstück war auch sehr gut. Auf Wunsch bekommt man Omlette und Spiegeleier gemacht. Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend. Insgesamt Top, Daumen hoch. Sehr zu empfehlen.
