Guest Reviews
- Eleanor (8/5): - Comfortable room and excellent restaurant. Staff friendly and attentive.
- Mark (10/5): Fantastic pub, restaurant and hotel! - What a fantastic pub, restaurant and hotel. Bags of character as soon as you walk through the door and welcoming staff. Evening meal was fantastic, all 4 of us enjoyed it. Brilliant breakfast too. Will rebook.
- Jaime (9/5): Would recommend highly - Beautiful hotel rooms and restaurant. I wouldn’t say there was anything I didn’t like but it is definitely upper end price wise and there’s no parking so this was a bit of an issue
- Barbara (10/5): -
- Fiona (9/5): . - Room was beautifully presented with quality furnishings and linen. Lovely shampoo and conditioner, handwash and moisturizer provided. Added bonus was complimentary liqueur for guests to enjoy at their leisure.
Breakfast was really good and cooked to order. Delicious scrambled eggs just how I like them. We were staying in The Cottage, behind the dining room and were given details on how to access the cottage after the pub had closed. Unfortunately on the night we stayed a man (a guest I presume) had lost his key and was trying to get into the building at 2.30 in the morning. This carried on for at least an hour at which point we phoned the after hours emergency number and left a message. Sleep seriously interrupted. :-(
- Andy (3/5): A real let down - Location , food , atmosphere Room was very noisy , bathroom door didn’t shut and no tv channels . Not great for the price
- DAVID (9/5): Good valueformoney - Excellent place to stay in the area. Hotel manager went out of his way to meet all of our requests . No on site parking
- Marion (9/5): Excellent for foodies! - Fabulous wine choices Parking
- Christina (8/5): Cosy!!!!!! - Mysig miljö, fina rum och god frukost Mycket trafik men svårt att undvika mitt i en by.
Middagen på kvällen uppfyllde inte riktigt på vad som utlovades på bilder etc
- Donna (9/5): Great location and really nice place to stay. We also enjoyed the ‘residents tipple’, great idea. I would definitely rec - Really lovely old building, beautifully decorated giving a very luxurious feel.
- Gillian (8/5): Will stay again as lovely decorated clean room. Nice pub as well. - Very clean lovely room. Meant to mention the cistern appeared to be running all the time together with the fan. To be fair didn’t disturb us but something the owners should be aware of. Not sure if the kettle was missing as there were tea bags. Only coffee machine? We were only there for a brief time as we have family in Cookham so only really used the room to sleep in. The property was very good my husbands veggie breakfast was excellent my traditional breakfast not so. I think mine may have been waiting for my husbands to be served. My bacon I couldn’t eat. Should have asked for it to be replaced as we were the only ones eating so my fault.
- Michael (10/5): -

- Martin (7/5): Other than the above all good. - Food was great, room clean. Very noisy kitchen extraction fans out side bedroom window until 2am ! Second day breakfast order was lost and we were only told 45 minutes later, we had no time to re order so had to leave without breakfast !!
- Vincenzo (10/5): Exceptional stay in beautiful Cookham - Good welcome, cosy pub, cosy clean rooms with great shower en suite. Super comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Great location for getting to the Chiltern walks/paths At a stretch, it was disappointing there were no cake or cream tea offerings around lunch time but presumably there’s not much demand for this so I understand why they don’t do lunch.
- Anthony (8/5): Pretty good - Great place to stay and friendly staff Room too hot and windows didn’t open
- Martin (10/5): -
- Fran (10/5): Beyond expectations, value for money , lovely position and staff were professional and polite - Whole pub/hotel was exceptional and we were upgraded after we found we couldn't have a bedside table on one side of the bed Choice ofReal Ale and bottled porters/stout- Black Cab and Fullers Porter
- Francesca (10/5): - The room was lovely, the breakfast was great, the staff were friendly and the location in the small town of Cookham is delightful! We would definitely stay here again, next time for longer! a mini fridge in the room would be useful.
- Heather (9/5): Quirky old pub - Quirky old pub attractively renovated. Great food at breakfast and dinner. Comfortable bed and good shower. Hard working staff. Restaurant accoustics made it a bit noisy in the evening.

- McGivern (10/5): Unfortunately we stayed with you for just one night and didn't have time for breakfast - All the staff were cheerful and smiley and it felt genuine
- Jo (9/5): Comfortable , bijou and full of character. - Room was bijou and compact but bed was comfy and shower was great. Breakfast was delicious, the menu was lovely, served hot and swiftly by excellent staff. Room was a little small but character made up for that. The noise from the pub and the road was a little intrusive. The night cap on the landing was a lovely touch but there was no sloe gin left in the bottle and the bar said they had run out? :(. I do like a bath too but there was only the shower. It was the last room available at the time of booking however.

- Alistair (8/5): A charming ancient inn with rooms - The property is a charming ancient inn - mind your head on the low beams! It has an excellent restaurant with a quality and well priced wine list - many available by the glass.
This is the first hotel room I have stayed in with a gun cabinet 😏 The plumbing was rather ancient.
The fire in the restaurant went out at about 8:30 and it quickly became cold.
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Emma (10/5): -
- Stephanie (10/5): -

- Joseph (9/5): Lovely overnight stay - a little more attention to detail in the room would help - Beautiful hotel setting and full of history - Loved the open fires and decor - Friendly staff
Evening meal was great The bedroom could have done with bedside table = it was a very old part of the building so space was limited but still room.
The facilities could do with updating and one of the wires was frayed in the bedroom - should be checked
- Mikey2702 (10/5): -
- Julia (10/5): Brilliant staff, fantastic atmosphere and wonderful accommodation. - Staff were incredibly helpful and property was quaint, cosy, stunning with a wonderful location.
- Heather (8/5): Great location to do some walking along the Thames pathway. We would love to return. - The meals were excellent, staff was super helpful and the room was charming. The room was comfortable and there was a nice offer of whiskey or gin for residents of the hotel to try. The shower was a little difficult to get warmed up. It was probably due to the heritage of the property so we can't really complain.
- Vanessa (9/5): Staff were very welcoming, food was great, accommodation was lovely. I would highly recommend -
- Charlie (9/5): We had a wonderful time! Thank you all! - Pretty room. Lovely staff. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The hotel was really accommodating. We asked for an early check in as we had a baby with us and they made sure our room was cleaned first. Very thoughtful. The heating wasn't on so it was cold in the morning.

- Trisha (2/5): Lovely place, but room.next to extractor fan kept us awake all night - Nice location, nice room and facilities The worst night sleep we have ever had, extractor fan outside our room kept us awake all night, you pay for a good night sleep, we didn't get sleep so was not good value for money fo us
- Linda (9/5): A very inviting comfortable stay - It had a lovely welcoming feel. Can’t fault
- Andy (9/5): - Comfy room and excellent breakfast.
- Paul (9/5): A gem of place to stay in Cookham. Our 1st visit and certainly not the last. A great team together - Breakfast, room, lunch and staff were all great.
A lot covers and very busy on Sunday lunch but clearly everyone was happy.
The prices are fair with a great choice of food and drink, especially the wine list. No hot water in the rooms for us and friends in 2 adjacent rooms due to a boiler failure. However, Josh, the manager was a gent advising us of the problem yesterday evening, gave us a large urn of boiling water that was still hot this morning and then offered us free champagne over lunch today and a voucher for a future free night stay, which we happily accept. Thank you
- Ian (10/5): This place exudes quality and happiness - This place exudes quality and happiness, which makes it quite a special place to stay. From the furnishings in the bedrooms and the public areas, to the menu and ingredients and wine list for dinner and breakfast, you realise this place is managed by someone who cares. But most important, all the staff we met were helpful, energetic and positive. My compliments to the whole team at Bel and the Dragon. Nothing

- Alex (9/5): -
- Lynne (6/5): Nice hotel but let down by restaurant - Nice hotel with character. Excellent staff at check in and breakfast. Breakfast very nice. Unfortunately evening meal not good. Poor service and food choices not available. Limited choice. Quality of food received poor.

- John (10/5): One of our favourites - Excellent all round as always. Very comfortable room and good restaurant. Will stay again!
- Phillipa (7/5): Lovely ambience- book the room in the cottage if you struggle with noise - Central location
Room very well appointed- coffee and tea facilities
Lots of space in the room
Comfortable furnishings
Staff very friendly and helpful Room - couldn’t have windows open due to kitchen extractor fans - these were on from 7am until midnight . The bedroom window was directly overlooking the roof of the restaurant- all of the noise from the pub/ restaurant could be heard - even with the window closed - noise until midnight on both nights that we stayed - we are heavy sleepers but still disturbed us . The pub and restaurant had been very busy the first night, so we thought it was a one off but it was even louder the second night, so we had to go downstairs at midnight to ask the staff to lower the volume . We raised this with the manager after the second night who was very understanding
- Linda (10/5): - Friendly staff, restaurant and bar .
