- Abi (9/5): Really lovely comfortable hotel, with friendly host Debbie - would definitely stay again. - Breakfast was excellent. The hotel was a short walk from the Cliffs Pavilion, which is why we were visiting Southend. Bed really comfortable and lovely refreshments in room.

- Diane (9/5): Really nice - Debbie and the team were great and very helpful. Breakfasts really nice. Location was great with good restaurants nearby. Not the hotels fault but the boy racers trying to ruin their engines late at night along the sea front was a bit of a nuisance. When will these idiots grow up.
- Steve (2/5): Not as stated, BUYER BEWARE. - Nothing. 1. Having telephoned the property and explaining that I was disabled, we were put on the 3rd Floor with no lift. 2. Despite having been informed their was only street parking, all parking was taken by residents of other properties. 3. The nearest public parking was full, and is not that close for anyone disabled. 4. The greeting upon arrival, was, "Name,....3rd Floor" before simply walking off! 5. The property itself smelt heavily of cigarettes and in-particular Cannabis. 6. The room as per the property itself, gave the impression of a former local authority bedsit, for waifs and strays. 7. The en-suite was dirty, with hairs and stained areas of disrepair. 8. The carpet had not been hoovered properly as there were bits of cotton and cotton wool everywhere. 9. The property cannot be considered as a 'Boutique Hotel' on any continent, and was certainly NOT as described. 10. The Hamilton 'Boutique' Hotel, had a star rating of 9.3 (now 9.00) on booking and a cost of £162 per night, however, nearby properties, such as the Ship Hotel has a rating of 9.4 and is just £143 per night with breakfast included. The properties are so far apart in location, cleanliness , atmosphere and style the the Hamilton has clearly been over rated by around 5 points on Booking.com. 11. As soon as we booked in, so we booked out again, we ended up at the Premier Inn, which was around 400 % better all round and cheaper.
- Carol (10/5): The perfect, beautiful , Hamiltons Boutique Hotel is the one you should defiantly stay at . - It was beautiful , both inside and out . The decor was very tasteful indeed . Everywhere was spotlessly clean with lovely little touches in the decor . A lovely atmosphere to the place . The room was extremely comfortable . Breakfast was delicious and served in a bright airy morning room and the host was very welcoming . The whole stay was an absolute delight and I would return anytime that I am in the area . Highly recommended .

The manager was lovely, our room was upgraded with no extra cost, the room was spotless and had absolutely everything you needed, the bed and pillows were so comfortable, breakfast was perfect. We only stayed for one night but could quite easily of stayed for longer. If we visit Southend again we'll definitely be booking again 🙂

- Keeley (10/5): Wonderful hotel, good location for the pier! - Stayed here on a Saturday night as we were out with friends for the evening. Checked in just after 4pm and we're given the key to our room which was on the top floor. The room is spacious with a flat screen TV, fan, ironing board, hairdryer and an extra heater. A large wardrobe and drawers. Also a kettle with tea, coffee, biscuits a couple of packets of crisps, a large bottle of water and glasses. The en suite has a decent size shower with plenty of towels and complimentary toiletries. The bed was very comfortable and we had a wonderful night's sleep. The hotel was cleaned to a very high standard and we were very impressed with the overall cleanliness. We both had a full English breakfast and toast, tea and coffee which we both enjoyed very much. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Good value. - The hotel is in a lovely position above the sea near the pier with an excellent view. Beautifully judged and presented breakfast. Delightful room with sea view (didn't know we would get this) and excellent bathroom. Very comfortable bed. We were right at the top of the hotel on the third floor (which we liked) but there is no lift so some travellers might not be able to manage this. While we had a lovely time once we arrived, we both found it very offputting being informed bluntly that if we arrived after 9.00 the hotel would be closed. We were aware of the opening times and had given our expected time of arrival of 7.30 and were in very good time when we got the last message so it was very unlikely that we would be late but it did make us wonder what welcome we would receive. In the event, the host was friendly and very helpful. I can only guess that some people have been less than respectful in the past. Another issue was around booking. I tried to call the hotel several times to enquire about the types of room available but the call was diverted somewhere else and then cut off which the owner may not have been aware of. Eventually the host called me back otherwise we would have booked elsewhere.

The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional, served really hot with tasty bread for toast and great coffee. Just a bit cool in the room for us on arrival as stayed in February. We were in room 3, which was lovely but very small, fine for 1 nights stay, though.

This is most definitely a boutique hotel! The room was beautiful, clean and bright with a view of the sea. Room bigger than expected and wonderful decor that suits the period of the property. Bed comfortable and sleep really well! Didn’t hear noise from other guests or seagulls as you would typically expect at the seaside!! Easy check in, friendly staff and the most incredible breakfast I’ve ever had staying away from home!! I would definitely stay here again! Everything was great!!

- Perry (10/5): Lovely, clean, peaceful (it was in dead of winter) - Delicious fresh & beautifully presented breakfast. Lovely fresh fruit, choice of pastries, and then a really superb full English. We also had the avocado toast, and we were pleasantly surprised with how fresh & delicious it was, given it was winter in England. Parking can be a little tricky, there is loading right in front of the hotel, then you can park directly opposite (if there is a space), or behind the hotel. The parking directly in front is free overnight. There is no elevator. We happened to have a lot of luggage, since we were on a very long trip from the US. This was not a show stopper, just something to consider.
