Guest Reviews
- Gini (8/5): - It was a great experience staying in a traditional Japanese home and the hostess , Adachi san was lovely and welcoming and she spoke good English which was really helpful.
We chose the Japanese breakfast option and it was delicious especially the Agedashi tofu which was one of the best we've had !
The only reason we have not given it 5 stars is because the property was in a residential area and the street it was on was particularly narrow so the taxi was not able to drive right up to the door and so left us on the main intersection and we had to contend with lugging our luggage down the street to look for it. Having said that it wasn't that far nor hard to find and if you chose a smaller taxi, it would be able access the street.
Bearing in mind it is a traditional home, and as the accomodation is on the 1st floor, it also meant taking our luggage up some steep stairs too.
A small price to pay for a unique accomodation and there was even laundry facilities and a kitchenette . The place was also immaculately clean !
- Benjamin (10/5): - Not only was the property clean, easy to locate, walkable and quiet but the lady who runs the hotel is an absolute sweetheart. The breakfast she made us was better than a lot of the food I was eating at restaurants. I would recommend this stay to anyone.
- Steven (10/5): - Booked this a a traditional Japanese experience for my family. Our host was lovely and very attentive giving us cold drinks and cold towels because it was so warm outside. There was a choice of Japanese or Western breakfast. Both were excellent, especially the Japanese which had fish, omelette, noodles and tea. Quiet area but restaurants nearby.
Ontvangst is zeer vriendelijk.
- Marie-Anne (10/5): - An incredibly nice, welcoming and fantastic host. A wonderful homemade breakfast, beautifully presented and very tasty!
Very comfortable futons/beds, our most recharging night in a simple but lovely place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Youngkwan (10/5): Good experience - Owner was very kind snd friendly. And breakfast was so nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Jen (10/5): - This was my favourite stay in Japan. It was a lovely experience to stay in a traditional Ryokan with tatami mats, futons, Shoji and fluffy doonas. Our hosts were friendly, warm and helpful with good English communication. We arrived a few hours before our check in time but were warmly welcomed and shown to our room. Hospitality extended to a delicious fluffy cream filled sponge waiting for us on our return to our room, and a delicious western style breakfast including bacon and eggs and freshly brewed black coffee (our choice, a Japanese breakfast also on offer) at a beautifully laid out table. Our kids loved the croissants and breads with fruity jams, the yogurt and freshly squeezed apple juice. Our hostess also instructed our daughter to make some traditional green tea. I left belongings which they organized to be sent to my next accommodation. These arrived the next day. (A Sunday !!!!). Very fond memories of this place. :)
- Christopher (8/5): - The breakfast was incredible-- and the host was absolutely wonderful. Beautiful traditional room as well.
The location was a little difficult to find for non-Japanese speakers. The shared bathroom and lack of of privacy (simply a paper wall between you and your neighbor) is charming if you want that experience but could be a slight set back if you are counting on some privacy.
Very nice experience overall.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best meal in Japan. I enjoyed it so much. Thanks! - Truly a gem. Glad I stayed there. Was a blessing and a perfect experience. She is an excellent chef. I had the Japanese breakfast, seafood. Thank you Mieko-san!!!
- Margherita (8/5): - We had dinner on site and it was just amazing. The owner made us a traditional Japanese dinner, great food and service, beautifully laid out and presented, she spoiled us.
- Bining (10/5): - Clean and quiet house with amazing delicious home-made Japanese-style breakfast. Close to bus stop. Very good shampoo and conditioner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A little bit of Japan - A Homely stay which gives you insighht to Local Japan. Host was a perfectionist and went ut of her way to provide a enjoyable stay. Take the opportunity to enjoy dinner as thiis was one of our best in Japan..
- Ignatz (4/5): Modest Room on Second Floor of Private Residence - Located at a hard-to-find address in a modest neighborhood of Nara, this private residence offers one traditional Japanese room (not the several implied by its Web site, which shows pictures of the same room from different angles and alternate furnishings) at the top of narrow stairs, with a balcony used for storing cleaning and laundry supplies overlooking a parking lot. Clean toilet and bath located in adjoining hall, shared with another even more modest room. Bring your own sandals, arrange your own futons and maybe horse your bags up the stairs. The owner (only "staff" we encountered) tries mightily, providing tea, dinner and breakfast. No other facilities and no alcohol available aside from homemade sake unless the owner is asked to go shopping. This is not a hotel but a room on the second floor of a private residence, a B&B in European or American terms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place - Hotel was homestyle. Comfortable. Host was really really really nice! She cooked us breakfast at 5:30 AM when we had to leave early. Her puppy is also amazing. Highly recommended.
