Guest Reviews
- brian (2/5): Worst hotel I've ever visited in my life. - The room was slightly larger than a coffin. The entrance to the shower was about 3 feet wide, I am not a large man but had to squeeze through the opening. When using the sink, water would run out from the base and, since the floor was not level, the water would run out of the bathroom and pool at the side of the bed. There was no hot water at all and I specifically requested that there be hot water prior to booking. The towel (yes, only one) was as rough as sandpaper. No refrigerator in the room and limited availability to get cold water. I would only recommend this hotel to someone I really dislike.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice - Kind staff, nice restaurant, location is a bit awkward but it's a great place for people traveling alone.
- James (6/5): Overpriced - Stay and airport pickup was good.
Daily rooom cleaning was only provided after repeated reguests.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Handy budget hotel - This hostel is geared more for independent young travellers wanting cheap accommodation and as such offers good value for money in shared dorms (my daughter had a bed in a dorm). However, their private rooms are over-priced for the quality and service provided. I had to ask for a towel and there was a leak coming from the bathroom into the bedroom.
The staff were OK and breakfast was reasonable but I think there are better value options available.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic but a nice enough stay - Beds are nice and firm, good size too. Clean sheets and blanket, nice pillows as well. The staff was **incredibly** nice to give me and my partner a small room to stay in while our double-occupancy room was being vacated and cleaned (our flight arrived at 5AM and they allowed us to crash temporarily in a spare room). That was a huge plus. Otherwise, the bathrooms were a bit hard to use - underlit, essentially non-existent water pressure...the water came out in literal drips. The room was clean enough and Item 13 is a pretty delicious place to eat, plus a great breakfast included. Staff was gruff but fine.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A very good value hostel - The staff is friendly and the food is really good. Fast internet most of the time.
- Anthony (8/5): Great Hostel! Will be back... recommend it to all! - A great value hostel in Accra (which needs more places like this!) rooms are very basic, but fulfil needs of budget travellers more than adequately!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Just Okay - A mixed experience. On the plus side, the rooms are relatively inexpensive and you can book them online. That being said, even if you're only paying $40-$50/night there are still things that I think ought to be expected from a hotel, especially if they have been promised on the website. In my room the safe didn't work, the A/C didn't work, the fan didn't work, there was no phone for local calls, the TV didn't work, and they didn't provide a bath towel or (occasionally) toilet paper. I don't think any of these things is terrible--I've stayed in hotels with none of these amenities before--but what made this so disappointing was that all these things were promised on their website. They definitely over-promised and under-delivered. So I guess I would say expect a very basic room. If you want features like the A/C to work be ready to be very assertive about it--the staff don't seem particularly motivated to help resolve issues like this.
- Iyk Yaw (10/5): good. - Good.
- Sven (6/5): Decent enough - Not bad at all for the price. AC works and they have a generator for when the power goes out, which is quite often.
- Jørn (10/5): I'll be back - Kind service from everybody
- Stefan (8/5): great value - Great budget stop over for one night between flights for me, but also recommendable for travelers who want to explore the city without shelling out big bucks for the usual hotels.
- Cecilie G. (6/5): Average hotel but good for exploring Accra - Stayed at the hostel for three nights while exploring Accra. The hotel had a good location and the staff was very friendly. The water didn't work two out of three night, but they let us use a different room and they gave us a small discount. It was rather expensive for Ghana, but a fine hotel all in all.
- Paras (8/5): Affordable, Basic, Clean; Provides the necessities - By Ghanaian standards, the pink hostel is a 3-star hotel. It has all the minimum essentials and the staff are very helpful and friendly. At Accra International, I was given only large bills, which is a huge problem when you need to use cash every in Ghana. The front desk staff were kind enough to provide me with change so I could actually use the cash to buy from vendors on the streets or in the markets. The breakfast is standard, and includes 1 egg, 2 rolls or bread, 1 chicken sausage, and coffee or tea - as they advertise, typical English breakfast. The room itself is cleaned every day, but you must leave the key with the front desk to allow the cleaning staff in. They also replace the sheets and towels (had single room - not bunk bed, so do not know if they provide sheets in those). It is fairly clean, but the hotel is old and dated. For the price, however, this place is great. Also, the wifi is fairly solid and the AC works very well, which is more than what I was expecting from this place, so that was a major plus. If you are looking for an upscale stay that is very modern and clean, try North Ridge Alisa Hotel or Paloma Hotel across Ring Road central - these are both 4 and 5 star hotels. These places are extremely clean and modern.
NOTE: The power goes out typically in the middle of the night, which means no electricity or running water, so I recommend you take your shower in morning (after 6:00 am) or at night (before 10:00 PM).
- Oather (6/5): A good experience, a good location at a good price - My experience in the Pink Hostel (Sept 1-4, 2014) was pleasurable, memorable and commendable. The staff were all very nice and agreeable to me. Eunice and Comfort were so professional and helpful and very resourceful. They were most accommodating and responsive. They were down to earth and helpful. The room is simple and without a lot of frills. It was clean and most presentable. There was plenty of HOT water and the continental breakfast was most satisfying. I do wish the blanket on the bed was a bit bigger and warmer because my room did get a bit chilly - maybe I should have turned the A/C off... Hahaha - speaking of which the A/C worked very well.
- Mrs. Tewogbade, S. O. (8/5): must see sights - Excellent!
- Greg (8/5): transit hotel Does what it says on the tin - For the price excellent- was only in Accra for 8 hrs before taking an internal flight so why spend a shed loadwhen u can be with nice people. Good food and beer. I would recommend for transit..
- CB (6/5): Pretty Good - This place is good if you are looking fora nice comfortable place to sleep. Well air conditioned.
- Tony W (8/5): Good value for Accra - I took a twin room at 20GBP per night. Having the room to myself and having en suite made it good value for money. Free Wifi and excellent location for the things I needed to do added to it. Friendly service and reasonable breakfast. The only downside was being disturbed by a rowdy group of drunk American youths who despite being asked nicely to be quite continued to demonstrate disregard and arrogance. The risks of hostel accommodation!
- Jorn Nielsen (2/5): cheating - I booked and paid for doublebed room, but got a 8 bunkbed room.
