• 925jont (8/5): Classy in spite of age - A lovely historical property. Beyond the gorgeous lobby, the building very obviously does show its age but never felt as though it wasn't clean enough as the property is clearly well maintained all throughout. The rooms are nice and quaint, albeit decor seems a bit sparse for a place that markets itself as a slice of the "golden age" of the 1920's. I had personally reserved a suite and found the beds comfy and the pull-out sofa bed about as good as any other. I was also very pleased to see that there was no additional fee for using the provided mini fridge that other hotels tend to do these days. Water pressure was quite good for a building of this age, mind you, this was on the third floor as well. The AC unit worked fine as well but seemed to have a very slight ringing noise to it, slept soundly regardless. The only sour aspect of my stay was the discovery that the outer shower curtain had a bit of deterioration and yellowing. All things aside, the greatest thing I feel this hotel has is service. All staff I encountered answered my questions and followed through on my requests with great efficiency and carried themselves with the etiquette of true luxury. Should you find yourself greeted by the concierge named CJ, rest well knowing you are in excellent, capable hands.

• 991christiec (10/5): Classic 1920s Charm & Exceptional Service - Hotel Normandie was the perfect home base for our six-night stay in Los Angeles. From check-in to check-out, the staff was phenomenal. Adam made us feel welcome immediately, and every team member we encountered was attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making our stay wonderful. The hotel’s historic character is what truly sets it apart. This 100-year-old property has maintained so many beautiful original details — hardwood floors, stunning tile work, and even original vintage doorknobs in the bathroom. If you love boutique hotels with authentic charm rather than cookie-cutter modern builds, this place is a treasure. The location is ideal. It sits almost equally between LAX and Burbank Airport, making travel logistics easy in either direction. There are fantastic restaurants all around the hotel, and for nightlife, you’re close to Break Room 86 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. We visited Break Room 86 and had such a fun 80s-themed night out. We also loved spending time at the Normandy Club bar located within the hotel — intimate, stylish, and relaxing. One of our favorite touches was the complimentary wine tasting offered nightly for about an hour and a half. CT, who hosted during our stay, was fantastic and made the experience even more enjoyable. Hotel Normandie offers warmth, history, comfort, and an unbeatable location. We highly recommend it and would gladly stay again.
• hoch_10 (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel, relaxed retro vibe - We chose this hotel because it's right on the Metro Line D (we're New Yorkers lol) and as an update of an older building, it looked more suited to our tastes than its nearby modern competitor. Good choice. This is a well run boutique hotel, staffed by friendly folks. The rooms are nicely designed and appointed, though storage space for clothing and toiletries is a little on the light side for a couple visiting LA for multiple days. Overall, we felt that the value for money was excellent. Housekeeping service is very good. They come late in the day, possibly to accommodate the late risers. You can put out a "clean early" sign on the reverse of the "do not disturb" sign, and that worked fine for us. Our room faced the inner courtyard of the U-shaped building, and there was no street noise except for an occasional siren and morning trash pickup on the block. Interior noise was also minimal, though I guess that depends on your neighbors. As others have noted, there is no longer a continental breakfast, but in the very comfortable lobby there is an evening happy hour with complimentary wine. For other urban visitors: Koreatown is a walkable and generally safe neighborhood, not without rough patches but overall one of the nicer parts of Wilshire Boulevard between Downtown and the Miracle Mile. The Metro D line will soon be extended to the Westside and then to UCLA, which will make the location even better. Right now a limited-stop Metro bus will take you west of Western Ave.

In the heart of Koreatown, there’s amazing food everywhere and you’ll get a day pass to a fantastic local gym close by. I will stay here again when in town, which is often. I like places that feel lived in as opposed to the soullessness of most modern hotels. Kind staff and a top-notch burger joint, Cassell's on premises that satisfies in a similar nostalgic manner.

• bobbijocox42223 (10/5): Perfect home away from home - Normadie Hotel is within walking distance to 7-11, many restaurants, including Taylor's Steakhouse. Parking is $45 a night at a lot diagonally across from the hotel. The restaurant that is attached but separate from the hotel has good food. The bed was comfy and even though my room was on the street side I could barely hear the traffic.

• Teambear2014 (8/5): Old school and atmospheric - We chose this as our base in LA, and ended up coming back here for an extra two nights as our flights home got delayed. The rooms were adequate and clean. It is an old hotel so expect a little scruffiness and squeaking. It definitely has an atmosphere and charm. The staff are super friendly. We enjoyed the nightly complimentary wine tasting in the lobby, it was a nice touch. Location-wise, this is in Koreatown, and so pretty much every restaurant in the vicinity is Korean food. There is a burger restaurant attached to the hotel which is very pricey and quite average. There is a nice bar just a few doors down, which is worth a visit. Being old, the hotel's sound proofing isn't great, so you will hear the bar and your neighbours.
• jeffQ2932DF (8/5): A travel back through time - This hotel was wonderfully beautiful. It has such 1920s charm left in it despite decades of use. The only downsides come from this as well. We had some minor issues with one or two electric outlets and charging phones, but we found a good one, so all worked out. Our mini fridge also didn't work the first night, and while I usually never use them, this time we needed it late at night. They kindly offered for us to use the hotels kitchen fridge until they could get a working one back in the room the next day. And they did come around the next day to replace it with a working mini fridge.
• X8285NZmarcosm (2/5): Great spot to be racially profiled and get horrible night's rest! - Want to be racially profiled and stay in a hotel that smells like urine with no working AC? Visit Hotel Normandie LA! I want to start off by avoiding all curse words so that you take my review seriously and not dismiss this as a Karen-esque rant. This is by far the worst hotel I have stayed at this past year (over 20+ trips in 2025). My partner and I genuinely could not believe how in the world this property received a 4 star rating. We had a horrible experience over New Years and want to detail the issues so that you make an informed decision: -the hallways literally smell like urine. I spoke with a manager today and he told me that was a common complaint and it was the "historic" wood of the building -AC was not working and it was the days LA was hit with a rain storm. Spoke to staff but no one came up to assist. -Television was not working, no assistance from staff. Had to plug in my laptop -Incredibly loud construction noise (video attached) -I was asked to ID myself when asking for a gym guest pass and was then told to come back later EVEN AFTER I ID'd myself. We wanted to speak to manager on Friday 1/2 but apparently he, Adam, was not in until Monday 1/5. Staff told me they'd forward my info to him and he'd call back. I spoke with him today 2:20pm. He comped me $80 parking and said that was all he could do. His responses: -Urine smell: Common complaint and part of the property -AC and TV: No comment, staff "should have" gone -Being ID'd for a gym pass: He admitted that THAT IS NOT the policy for guests (but I guess it's ok that it happened to me??) -Incredibly loud noise: Didn't bother to view the video before saying "all I can do is the free parking". Trip Advisor needs to allow videos to be uploaded to show just how egregious this trip was. So if you're a person of color like me and want to go to a hotel where the staff assume you don't belong there, want to stay in a room that smells like urine, and struggle with the AC during a storm then Hotel Normandie is your place. If not, and maybe you don' t like to be profiled there's a lot of other hotels nearby you should give a try.

I will never return and I guess the staff did lie to me and say they were going to send someone to unclog the tub. Massive amount of dust in the vents right over the shower which was unsanitary.

• mweeonline (10/5): An ideal location and stay - Hotel Normandy ticks all the boxes for my perfect hotel stay. It’s in a very walkable area of LA for food and entertainment. Plus it’s a block from one of he city’s subway lines. The hotel itself is gorgeous inside and my room was the relaxing escape I needed, including plenty of hot water and pressure for a shower. That might seem small but when you’ve stayed places that don’t have it, you learn to check on such details. The staff was always accommodating and helpful. I’d easily choose Hotel Normandy again.
• bridgetf824 (10/5): Cozy Vintage Boutique Hotel - Great boutique hotel if you enjoy staying in a place with some history. We booked based on a recommendation from family and found the staff to be outstanding. They exceeded any expectations we may have had, CJ was so attentive and friendly, anytime we needed anything the front desk was quick to assist! Valet parking was quick and easy. The room was clean and comfortable each day we returned to it. We enjoyed the location which was within an accessible distance to downtown as well as a couple trips to Hollywood and the beach. While some reviews mention noise to be an issue we found our room to be quiet and extremely comfortable even through the weekend with busy street traffic. Would definitely stay here again!
• 236victorb (8/5): Everything works. Highly recommended, I'll be back - I really enjoyed my stay, but I knew what to expect. It's urban, Central LA, so, for example, parking is tricky. I really appreciated the text msg from Adam, followed by a short phone conversation, guiding me with the details. It worked out well. There's a five minute loading zone at the front door, but it's hard to spot driving by. And my room, which faced the street, had some traffic noise. Other rooms may be quieter, but I also could see part of the Hollywood sign, and enjoy people watching, so it was worth it. Beautiful, tastefully decorated 1920's LA decor. Most importantly, even though it's old, everything works. Minor complaint: the room's thermostat is complicated, the wrong choice for a hotel room. Should be upgraded to something simple. The front desk folks were great. Cassell's is a classic diner, very welcoming. The wine tasting is a nice bonus. WiFi worked fine, Cable TV was good, too.

• 329alyssek (10/5): Amazing and Comfortable Stay! - My friends and I had a fantastic time here! This hotel is surrounded by amazing selections of food. The surrounding area is what you expect in LA but oddly felt a little more secure. The hotel’s atmosphere is classy and the service is peak hospitality. At check in, CJ helped with our luggage. CJ defiantly set the bar at the start because he did amazing helping my friends and I. The check in process was smooth, prompt, and informative. I can tell the front desk staff work diligently with respect and kindness. I called in to ask a quick question and Johan at the front desk was very polite on the phone. The rooms are rustic and you can feel the history the hotel has. I enjoyed the aesthetics of the bathroom and the small powder-counter that also had a fridge. The beds are comfy, I especially liked the bed’s top sheets. The housekeepers were very friendly in the morning. A small ‘good morning’ said by one of the housekeepers made me feel better at the start of my day of departure. The parking is at the opposite corner of the stoplight intersection. The instructions by CJ really helped! The parking lot attendants were very good at security. Any time they saw my friends and I go to our car to pick something up, they promptly checked on us. I highly recommend this hotel to those who like historic hotels and walking around Koreatown.
• LoganFSmith (6/5): Nice place, great staff, unfortunate experience - I like this place. The vibe was very cool with lots of vintage stuff. The wine tastings in the lobby were fun and good way to hang out in the public area on your way out for the evenings. I had two main problems with my stay. The first was that there was apparently a power outage not long before I checked in. This seemed to be out of the hands of the staff and created a big mess where they couldn't issue us cards when we checked in so they escorted us to our rooms instead. We were luckily issued cards that evening. However, the internet in the upper floors was also knocked out, and did not return for at least a couple days until after I had left, so I had no internet. As an international traveler I rely on wifi in hotels so this was disappointing. The second was less important, the light in my bathroom was motion activated which isn't uncommon these days, but I think it may have been sound activated too because the thing turned itself on constantly throughout my stay, including all through the night. Even when I draped a towel over it to stop the motion activation, it kept doing it. I suspect something like this might be why people talk about the place being haunted. Anyways, overall I feel like the major problem with my stay was not the fault of the hotel so it's just bad luck.

I would get texts to ensure our stay was going well and if we needed anything, which I really appreciated. Location is excellent. Walking distance to many restaurants, coffee places, etc in Koreatown. The restaurant nextdoor had delicious breakfast where we dined in and really good coffee. Hotel is clean, room was clean and room was quiet. We stayed in a room on the 4th floor and we slept very comfortably! Loved the attention to detail to make you feel welcomed. We had a short stay as we were only in town for two nights, but would definitely stay again.
• jessicacai98 (8/5): Clean, comfortable and friendly staff - I stayed at Hotel Normandie for 3 nights in a room with 2 beds in November 2025 and had a great stay. While the building is a bit outdated, our room was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was actually an internet outage when we arrived at the hotel so we couldn't receive our hotel key card. The staff had to manually let us into our room, but they were quick to address this issue. They also provided complementary wine which is a plus. The downside to the stay was that the window was not well insulated, so we could hear everything from the outside. Location was great. We would stay here again.

• leeeveretthunt (10/5): F. Scott Fitzgerald would feel right at home - If you like a throw-back to the 1920s, this is a great hotel. It may not have all the amenities of a modern hotel but that is part of the charm. Staff is warm and helpful. Our corner room had lots of light and a very comfortable bed. The lobby is very inviting for hanging out. The Normandie bar next door is nice place to have a drink. And the wine tasting in the evening is very pleasant. We did not get a chance to eat at Cassell's but it looks fun. Next time!

For the price, can’t beat the quality and location in L.A. only real annoyance is valet parking, but it’s really just $45/self parking across the street. I mainly went for a concert at kiss kiss bang bang at the line hotel. Normandie Hotel is so close to many fun spots and great restaurants. I love the old Hollywood charm and decor. Definitely my vibe, but with the age comes creaking and noises. Doesn’t bother me. Just be aware, it’s not the most quiet stay.

The nightly wine reception in the lobby is so relaxing and makes it feel like the guests are known to each other. The convenience of Cassell's is a huge plus. • 470rhiannay (8/5): great, affordable solo stay! - This was such a quaint, cozy hotel, unlike any I’ve stayed in before. It had so much character! The staff were friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed my stay. Something to note is that you have to request a microwave if you’d like one. They brought it up to me quickly after asking and that was that. Easily accessible to transit if that’s your thing. The reason I took it down a star is because the area was not the safest to me as a woman on my own, but I wasn’t out at night other than being picked up and dropped off by cars so just be aware of that.

I especially liked the cleanliness of the bathroom and bed sheets. The street noise was bothersome for a while but it subsided later in the evening.
• pk1060 (8/5): Nice vibes, still needs more renovations - Love the vibes of this place. FANTASTIC location. Renovations done on rooms so they are pretty good. Hallways not done but doesn’t really affect you. Slow elevator. Lobby smells a bit. Staff works hard and there is a noticeable effort with little touches and details by housekeeping.

• Nonwork (10/5): A gem - This hotel was such a pleasant surprise. We regularly visit LA but have never stayed here. Our room had a nice, clean wood type smell. Everything was spotless and well-appointed. The double beds were comfortable and I slept well both nights we were here, and many times I don't, especially in hotels. It was quiet. The lobby is large and ornate with plenty of different type chairs and sofas to relax in. The staff greeted us every time we passed through, but they were not overbearing or intrusive. Cassell's, an iconic LA eating spot, is attached to the hotel and has an inside entrance. We ate there twice, delicious both times. Adam, the manager of the hotel, happened to be at the desk when we checked out. He was genuinely interested in what we thought of our stay and the hotel. We only stayed here two nights, but next visit will be longer. Highly recommend the hotel and the central location.

• carolsZ9018SK (8/5): Old Style Elegance & Modern Comfort - Visiting from UK to visit my son who now lives in LA and the hotel was recommended by friends of his who’d stayed at Normandie before. The lobby is fantastic with a real ‘Golden Age of Hollywood’ feel to it. The complimentary free evening wine was a nice touch! The corridors to the bedrooms are a little ‘well worn’ but the actual bedroom was delightful with old world charm, quirky ornamentation & very comfy brass bed. Great stay!
• preciousc473 (10/5): Heidy made our stay stress-free - I would like to commend Heidy for her empathy and problem-solving skills. We requested a 30–60 minute late check-out as we were stuck at an appointment, and she responded immediately, there was no issue at all. That level of service really stood out and made our stay stress-free. The location is excellent: right near the BLS Spain office and within a short walk of restaurants, bars, and supermarkets. The room was tidy, and we especially appreciated their text messaging system that checked in to see if everything was going well and it made communication for requests quick and easy. Overall, the staff were professional, welcoming, and attentive. We would definitely stay here again.

• Holley (10/5): Even better than expected! - My Jr Suite was perfect. Loved the soaking tub, the wet bar, and the huge windows that I could leave open at night. The staff was wonderful and always helpful! The wine reception every evening was the perfect touch! They even played great swing music for it. Can’t say enough good things about my stay! Great job! The only thing I’d say they could improve would be to let guests know about Bar Normandie, which is at the side of the building. Lovely dark little spot with a nice whiskey menu.

He welcomed us with a warm heart, and I felt as if I’m part of the family of Normandie. He recommended us places to try out for food, including the bakery's around the area, as we were celebrating my partners birthday. If ever we were to go back to LA, I would definitely stay there again, and also recommend it to friends and family.

• rejeevd (2/5): Difficulty in cancelling the transaction - Yes, I booked through super.com, however Initially when I booked the date was incorrect, and I had to book again with correct date. However, I could get any refund for booking by mistake. Neither the website nor the hotel reception was helpful. It was a huge disappointment and outright cheating. As I tried to revert the transaction immediately after the booking.

A nicely renovated boutique hotel that kept the charm of its illustrious past (hardwood floors, mahogany doors, beautifully tiled deep bathtub) and added modern necessities (great shower, comfy beds n bedding, magnetic passkeys). It’s well managed and staff was wonderful: Attentive, competent, friendly. Grand lobby was comfortably furnished, nice for meeting up with friends. Wide variety of restaurants nearby. And the price was a bargain for the area. Parking’s available but we chose not to rent a car and got around fine with hired cars and the subway (purple line’s just a block away). Highly recommend it.
• Bomsterjab (10/5): Charming throwback to the Golden Days - This little gem far exceeded our expectations. We chose it for it’s proximity to Family we came to visit. It turned out to be a classy, comfortable well managed little boutique hotel with a colorful past. Its recent renovations brought some convenient improvements (good water pressure, great beds n bedding) and kept it’s Golden Days charm (beautifully tiled deep bathtub, refinished mahogany doors and original hardwood floors). The staff was great, friendly, responsive and proactive, very helpful and conscientious. Lovely lobby with a fountain, big fireplace, high ceiling, nice lighting and comfortable furniture. Wide variety of restaurants nearby and having a subway stop a block away made it easier to get around than we expected. We thought the price was very reasonable - we’ve paid a lot more for a lot less!

The room I stayed in did have a smell of wet wood? potentially related to the humidity but definitely to the air system. It bothered my sinuses and stuck to my clothes and the linens a bit. Otherwise great stay!
• Stephanie (6/5): Save Your Money—Skip the Valet - My only issue with the place was the valet parking. I paid $45 for overnight valet parking, but when it came time to collect my car, the valet was nowhere to be found. After waiting around and asking for help, the front desk staff wasn’t particularly helpful either. In total, it took nearly 45 minutes just to get my vehicle back. For the price I paid, I expected a smoother and more reliable service. Honestly, I would have saved myself time and frustration by parking on the street.

It was close to multiple public transport stops so it was easy to go back and forth from my room to the places I wanted to go see or eat at. It was wonderful and I’d stay here again! The walls aren’t too great and I could hear my neighbors moving things around in their rooms at times but I didn’t mind. I had a wonder time.

• Footprints39005 (6/5): Vintage Charm, Modern Inconveniences - Stayed one night for a concert, so I was only in the hotel for about 6–7 hours (mostly asleep), but overall it was a solid stay. The hotel is old but has a quirky, vintage charm—my room had baseball cards and trophies for decor, which gave it a fun, nostalgic vibe. Pros: -Strong AC in the room -Shower pressure was incredible—like a waterfall -Complimentary wine during happy hour -Great location, walkable to lots of food and just 10 mins from The Wiltern -Ice machine also has filtered water <3 Cons: -No AC in the hallways, which made common areas stuffy -No fan in the bathroom (I am pee shy) -Parking is $45 per night across the street, and valet doesn’t bring your car, you have to walk/lug your stuff across, or risk pulling into the hectic loading zone out front
• YanZi_12 (10/5): Excellent Choice When Visiting LA - Hotel Normandie is a lovely, historic hotel conveniently located in the heart of Koreatown, LA. We stayed for about 10 nights while visiting family. This is not a luxury hotel, however, it is clean and very comfortable. It is located close to quite a few coffee shops and restaurants and the neighborhood seems safe. I loved the hardwood floors throughout the hallways and guest rooms. The grand lobby with its huge fireplace and wooden beams and columns are quite lovely. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again.

• RDAcostaJr82 (10/5): Can't beat a complimentary 1:00 late check out - I live in Los Angeles and have my own place and so does my girlfriend but sometimes you're not allowed to go to her place and people are trying to kill you so you can't go to your spot. Time for a staycation!!! And this place was right around the corner and it was two minutes before twelve so I'm logging into Priceline like I'm rolling deep in a neighborhood that having a mark isn't exactly where Im comfortable being. I was originally thinking time to hit up the Biltmore but this places prices even beat the good old Bilt? And that without the front desk adding the mysterious I need to pay my dealer deposit tax. And ironically eight years earlier my girl and I got engaged at their trendy bar attached to the place. Also attached is what I think is one of the two operating Cassell's, world renowned and for real. No tub but a perfectly sized shower to share with your hot fiance that you didn't think was ever going to talk to you again. Thank God for those eight years cause she was so ready to sleep and I have a consensual non consensual relationship with my baby. Thank you Normandie for giving me a place to hide out and reconnect with my equally toxic but unconditionally loving unhealthy obsession I call mine!!!
