It is impossible not to relax and unwind while visiting. There was absolutely nothing that I did not like.

Die Gastgeberin war so nett und hat für unseren kleinen Sohn eine tolle Übernachtungsmöglichkeit geschaffen. Die Unterkunft an sich sowie die Natur drum herum waren unbeschreiblich besonders. Nachts sahen wir so viele Sternschnuppen wie noch nie.

Lourens (10/5): Amazing, wish I could stay longer... - This place is a hidden gem, you get so much value for the price paid. Horses walking around including a pony, various types of bucks etc. and the help is very friendly, especially old Shorty who was always willing to help like delivering my wood to my chalet etc. This is hard as everything was really great, but maybe the entrance to the chalet as you open the doors to the stairs leading to the loft and have to squeeze your way into the bottom section and if you are tall as me, walking up and down is difficult. I suggest they change the sliding door around so it opens on the right rather than the left...???

Lots of plains animals and the beautiful mountain that dominated the setting. a super spot for a weekend away only 2 hours from JHB on a very good road. We loved our stay.

That they directed us to the wrong chalet and after a long haul up an incline with all our luggage we were told we had to move. Walter (7/5): Eastern Freestate visit - Administration and communication from management was excellent. We even received the loadshedding schedule. There was a rechargable lamp for loadshedding. Beautiful views. Beds were comfortable, everything was superficially clean. Chalet is a bit run down and can also do with thorough cleaning. We did not like that there was no parking next to the chalet. We had to carry our stuff some distance to the chalet. There was also no braai area at the chalet, only a communal braai area, which can also be upgraded. The braai grids were filthy.

I liked the tranquility of the place, the beauty of nature, and the animals in their natural habitat. The chalet has the necessary equipment for self-catering purposes. It was a bit inconvenient with the double bed on top and the bathroom on the ground floor.

Clean, & tranquil! I didn’t like that there was freezing water in the morning. We didn’t even take a shower. Also my family and I were accused of stealing a towel, I don’t know if I should perceive this as a racist comment.
Sue (6/5): Lovely cottage and lots of birds to watch. - We really enjoyed the hut - beautifully done and attention to detail was very good. There seems to be an effort to take out some of the tree invaders (wattle and gum), and the roads are being repaired. It would be nice to have a walking trail map - we used to be able to do a very long traverse up and along the mountain, but sadly the reserve has been divided into pieces and there are very high and rather ugly fences climbing up the moutain. I am not sure what happened there over the last ten years or so, but much of the old reserve which was beautiful grassland has been turned into mielie and cow grazing fields. Some of the original wooden huts seems to have disappeared too and two very ugly brick huts have been thrown up near 'reception'. There are, however, lots of birds to watch and we were kindly provided with a bird list. There is quite a lot of game - sadly too many cross-bred species. There was no 'reception area' as such and no-one came to greet us on arrival which seemed a bit odd. We did however find the cottage open and ready for us which was fine. The one door did not lock at all which wasn't great if one wanted to go for a walk and leave belongings behind. I think that the wattle and gum trees that are immediately visible from the cottage should be taken down.

Zwarx (8/5): Overall, great weekend away. - The animals were a great addition and the braai area is very nice. Don’t store wet mops in the cupboard. It leaves a terrible stench.
