Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Dirty walls, couldn't check in on time, broken handles in room. Photos are nothing like what is on Expedia. Walls had dirty wipe marks all over them. I felt my skin crawl just sitting on the bed. I booked somewhere else straight away. Horrible place!
- Will (10/5): - We we're 18 people on a stag. Fantastic location and the beds are clean, comfy and great value. Has a decent bar and staff helpful too. Thanks for having us! Liverpool was great also!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location to the nightlife especially Matthew street
- Verified traveler (8/5): - No kitchen. We had a handicapped bathroom with mould in the shower.
- Chris (10/5): Ideal for stag do - Brilliant, just what we needed for a stag, location was bang on!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, property was safe, clean and wifi and bar was tops 👍👍
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Check in was great, location was 👍, bed and room were great also. Wifi worked well and the bar was tops 😁
- Sharon (8/5): Pleasant Stay - First Time Actually Staying In A Hostel So Wasnt Sure What To Expext. Our Event Changed Dates So A Last Minute Booking. Had Our 16 Yr Old Daughter With Us - One Night Stay Only. Didnt Disappoint. Conveniently Located Less Than 1 Minute From The Main Shopping Region. Receptionist Friendly And Helpful On Arrival And Departure. Lift To Room. Bright, Airy Private Room With Seperate Washroom And Toilet. Very Little Noise From Street Below So A Sound Sleep Had. Didnt Avail Of Breakfast, However, Items Cost As Little As £1 Each! Lots Of Information On Activities In The Area Provided At Reception. Would Definitely Stay Again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Early hours of the morning you had lads running around the hotel screaming and shouting banging on doors, sounding like they were trying to get in a room threatening all kinds of abuse my kids were scared and wanted to leave.
- Kelly (6/5): Central, convenient, could do with better cleaning - I stayed in a 6 bed female. Area was great, very central, loud but that’s to be expected (music from nearby pubs). Unfortunately the bed did have some kind of dead bug on it and someone’s receipt..
- Shelley (2/5): Too noisy - Spent a night here with 2 children after visiting the Cavern Club and doing some Christmas shopping. We were on the first floor. The room was extremely noisy right next to a bar and the music did not stop until 4am. However we then had to contend with the drunken shouts of revellers. This hotel is definitely not for families or anyone who enjoys a good night’s sleep. I feel that the hotel could have put us on a higher floor. On checking out we were told that “it’s always like his on a weekend” and that the noise was worse on our floor. Needless to say we will not be returning. We did however love Liverpool and the people so we will be back but we’ll stay somewhere else!
- Katie (6/5): - Very noisy, not just other guests but loud air units in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fantastic location, great staff. Bunks were rickety- just breathing and they made the devil’s own noise. Otherwise good.
- George (10/5): Absolutely ideal - Great place, friendly staff, perfect location. Would 100% recommend to a friend.
- Lisa (10/5): Fantastic experience! - I stayed at the Euro Hostel in Liverpool with my husband and 4 children enroute to Liverpool Airport. It's in a great location to do a bit of last minute holiday shopping with loads of places to get a decent meal, we also found the nearby parking very reasonably priced. The room was a good size and it was clean, the kids loved the bunk beds and lockers !! Our stay was comfortable the staff were all really friendly and we felt we got real value for money. After boarding our flight I realised I'd left my wedding ring in our room, a quick call and the staff reassured me they would do everything they could to find my ring... 10 days later on our return from backpacking i had a lovely email from the staff at the hostel saying theyd found my ring and were awaiting instruction to post it back to me. Thank you Euro Hostel, your staff are an absolute credit to you and we will most definitely stay with you again!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Olson Family Stay - Floor was sticky & covered in crumbs when we arrived, the locker door also fell onto my daughter's head when she opened it (thankfully she was not hurt). Unfortunately we were unable to move to a different room as none were available (it was also hot & no windows). Breakfast was good & staff was great...cleaning crew need better trained.
- victor (10/5): comfy place to stay - stay was good, close to all amenities
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great base, great staff - Stayed at the hostel to explore the local area with my young family. Excellent location, amazing staff. Room was clean and basic, bit stuffy with no window or aircon. Great stay otherwise.
- Ash (10/5): Perfect for run - Spot on for a fun weekend in Liverpool with late nights. Staff were quality and I'm very glad we chose this gaff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stayed at the hostel for 1 night.
It is in the middle of Liverpools nightlife, a great destination for those who want to spend nights out.
- Marcia (10/5): Nice hotel, very good location - I really enjoyed my time with my family, was really easy move around as the hotel is in the city centre. You can shoppig around and enjoy the Beatles places...I love it
- TERESA (10/5): Great for families - This was our first stay in a hostel, and it was MUCH BETTER than expected. Check in was quick, the room was nice with our own bathroom and own separate shower. Each bed had it's own plug in and lamp and there was a nice window. We were a family of 5 and reserved a 6 bed room which worked perfectly. The location was fantastic with many restaurants and bars right outside the door and shopping just across the street. And, it was only a 7 minute walk from the train station. Highly recommend.
- Darren (8/5): Good location, central City - Location was great, very central.
Very thin walls, there was school group in rooms around my room, which you could hear them.
Nice having 15% off food & drinks in bar on ground floor, but it shut early on the Wednesday (6pm).
- Maura (10/5): DLTBGYD Tour 2017 - Fantastic location right in the centre of the throng, Hostel clean and comfortable - staff very accommodating - able to drop our bags off earlier than room ready time and leave in secure room on the day of checkout until mid afternoon. Brilliant for seeing the city without trailing luggage around with us. - Great bar and cafe/restaurant - tasty food -at great prices. Can't fault it . Secrete gem... we'll be back
- Sisko (8/5): Stay here if you want to party! - Ok room with 6 beds, clean toilet and shower room. Unfortunately most of the lockers in the room did not work.
- Tim (6/5): Great for clubbing - It was a nice hotel/hostel, We had a double ensuite room so didnt have to share. I would only recomend this place if you are planning to spend the night enjoying the night life as it is in the heart of the cities bars and clubs so is extremly loud until early hours. Room was clean but slightly cold.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall a great hotel. Ideal location. Staff helpful and friendly. Would stay again.
- Win (8/5): Cavern Quarter comfort - As would be expected from its ace position in the Cavern Quarter, the Euro Hostel can suffer a bit from local noise at night, but in every other respect it was really good value for money. Appreciated the location near public transport and visitor attractions.
- Rebekah (6/5): - First night was fine. Right in the centre of Liverpool so you will need ear plugs.
The second day they changed my room without telling me. Only found out I had been moved from an all female dorm when I walked in and it was all men! They also lost all my stuff in the process! However, it was eventually found before I had to leave.
Very embarrassing for them and something I don't think happens very often.
Before that I was happy with the hostel.
- Raquel (8/5): Nice place for the Beatle Week! - Nice place for the Beatle Week! But bring eye-mask and cover the ears.
- Marcelo (6/5): Very good, specially the location and price - Everything was great, except for the noisy neighbours. Regent's bar, in front of the hostel has live music every single day and night, until 3am. Better book a room on the last floor and as far from this bar as possible.
- Livia (8/5): Ok if you don't mind noise at night - Loud neighborhood at night! Our room was special for disabled people so there wasn't any doors separating the shower from the rest of the toilet which sometimes made it hard to use because after someone showers the floor gets soaking wet!
- Gerard (8/5): Pretty Noisy but Otherwise Good Location. - Very central location however with this comes the caveat that there is going to be a lot of ambient music/noise at night. If you're here to partake in that then you probably won't mind. This we accepted and expected, what was less acceptable was the amount of noise from drunken and inconsiderate guests talking at the top of the voices in the hallway right outside our door all night. To the hostel's credit when we did complain they did eventually offer us a better room in a quieter part of the building. Other than this we were mostly happy with the accommodation, as far as hostels go it was pretty good. About the only thing we could say against it is the kitchen, it is tiny and not very inviting. I guess they want to encourage you to spend money at their bar instead.
- Sisko (8/5): nightlife neighbourhood - This 4 bed room is far too small, not enough space for your luggage. Better to stay in 6 bed room!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location was great, the staff was friendly, rooms and bathrooms clean - all you could ask for in a hostel really.
The door handle on our toilet door broke but was fixed very quickly by the friendly staff.
I just wished there was the option for female only rooms, but apart from that I had a great stay and would definitely return!
- Verified traveler (2/5): poor - very pool
- Verified traveler (10/5): Ideal close to town, good value for new year - Ideal close to town, good value for new year. faOFSOIHGoihgiosHGI
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very convenient - Nice hostel
Convenient
Friendly staff and nice breakfast
- Daniel (10/5): Clean, Central, Friendly - What a lovely, modern and clean place to stay! I was really impressed with my stay here, from the great location to the friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere. I've heard it can be noisy, but it seemed quiet enough at night. The rooms were really clean, comfy and modern. The only advice I would give is to pay for the fast wi-fi when you arrive, it's worth it if you want to stream movies and we couldn't figure how to log into the paid wi-fi after we selected the free one. The hostel/hotel is basically in the city centre and just a great location really.
- Jukka (8/5): Centerly located hostel - The Hoax hostel has changed their name to Euro hostel. Great place next to the old party central and walking distance from the harbour. However, if you cannot sleep at loud places this wouldn't be for you, because it's just above the pubs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hostel, really clean and good looking. Just the noise from the street at night borders, but can be ignored.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Review - There were a lot of hidden charges when we checked in. It did not outline that the hostel would deduct a 50e deposit from a card upon check in, which would not be returned until 5 days after checkout. There was also charges for towels, early check in, leaving our bags in the baggage room. The guest kitchen would barely fit 4 people so dont rely on it if you are planning on cooking your own food. Rooms were clean and the location is perfect, within walking distance of everything. Staff were friendly too.
- Paris (10/5): Perfect Group Getaway - Perfect Location, Great Staff.. Couldnt of stayed anywhere better!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Better than expected - Group of 9 guys for a long weekend... Rooms (2x dorm of 6) were excellent; beds, shower, toilet, spacious, just lacked adequate air conditioning as it got a bit stuffy at times!
Staff were friendly, bar/lounge was excellent with pool and TVs for the rugby and the location was the best you are going to find, right in the heart of the centre beside the cavern quarter, everywhere within walking distance and taxi rank outside hostel if needed.
- Anandprasad (8/5): Nice hostel in close proximity to everything - It's a good hostel with basic amenities. It's in close proximity to everything and overall a great experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hostel to chill out - So far so good! An affordable place with close proximity to rail station and attractions.
But, kinda disturbed by a drunk roomie. Other than that, it was cool!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very central. Close to shops restaurants. - Great time had. Hostel clean and comfortable. Great places to eat.
- Ross (8/5): - Great, clean hostel right in the centre of Liverpool. Was a bit noisy due to the nightclubs and bars nearby but a good cheap option if you're passing through and need a bed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): not for a family - we had a room with 6 beds for ourselves. bathroom was smelly and terrible. very noisy from bars outside even on monday and tuesday.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Stay in the very heart of liverppol - Great hotel, great staff, very comfortable rooms and complimentary breakfast. It is right in the city centre and it was liverpool on a friday night, you know what noise level you should expect when you are facing the street. But well, there is really nothing to complain.
- renea (10/5): Nice snd Central - East to book and find. Great staff and facilities made this a wonderful stay
- Lee (8/5): Convenient location, but not for the light sleeper - I usually stay here for two nights when I visit Liverpool on business. There are never two nights the same. The location in right in the heart of the city which is great for party people. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable.
The kitchen facilities are adequate, though somewhat lacking in cooking utilities. The attached bar serves a decent breakfast.Overall this hostel serves it's purpose as a convenient and inexpensive place to stay in this wonderful city.
- Amy (10/5): Perfect Location - Having stayed in Liverpool several times before, I have never stayed in such a great location. great experience staying here as it was so close to everything. Rooms are bit small for 6 people but would highly recommend this as a place to stay and would stay here again myself.
- Dzmitry (10/5): Very nice!!! - Nice hostel, good place, nice staff, nice food!!! Recommend for everyone
- Sisko (10/5): Best place to party! After that you only need a be - Good place to stay in the city central
- roslyn (10/5): hoax - overall my stay at the Hoax was fanstasic. Rooms are clean, staff friendly, and well located.
- Zuzanna (8/5): Good hotel for a short stay - I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a hotel to stay one night. It is in a very convenient location, in the town center. I would not stay there longer than one night though, as it is in the center and Liverpool's night life is crazy. Even though I was on the fourth floor I could hear and feel the music till the early hours. Really hard to sleep even if you have earplugs. Take pad locks with you as it makes everything so much easier. You can buy them there but I think price of it is a bit too high.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fantastic Locale - Location was fantastic with shopping right at your doorstep. Power points were provided for each bed too. Rooms were in the basement though - no sunlight or anything.
- Fanny (6/5): November, solo, 6 beds dorm - +: Easy to find, at the city centre, close to the main attractions like Albert Dock and the Beatles Museum, Each bed has own reading lamp and 2 sockets, ensuite bathroom, good heater, decent continental breakfast, facilities:washing machine, guest kitchen, locker, towel with small fee
-: at the city centre so it's quite noisy until late night, random people keep knocking doors
- Jay (10/5): Stag in Liverpool - I was organising a stag in Liverpool and came across HOAX, I took a chance and was delighted I did! HOAX is perfect, great location, great bar, excellent bar man(Connor, who went above and beyond!!), bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay there again, I can't recommend it highly enough!!!!
- David (8/5): Overall impression - Staff friendly and helpful, good city centre location, all good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel in a great city - Me and 2 friends stopped at Hoax when we watched Liverpool cc play. We found the hotel easily and it is ideally located its in the cavern quarter and is 2 minutes from liverpool one and 0 minutes from the Albert Dock and lime street station. A great stay. We will definitely be back again.
- Hiten (10/5): Clean, friendly, attentive - I recently stayed at hoax Liverpool for the night and it was a really good decision. The staff were super friendly and attentive, my mixed dorm was clean and the facilities were nice and hygienic. Total value for Money I spent 20.00 pounds for the night and included the lovely continental breakfast in the morning which was great.
I am planning my next trip again for sure.
- Алена (10/5): Close to the Cavern - Потрясающей хостел! Находится в оживленном районе в близи паба cavern. Подойдет для любителей клубов. Так же работает русский администратор и у вас не возникнет проблем если вы не знаете английского)
- Natalie (8/5): Very central. Close to shopping and restaurants. - Very clean and modern. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms had ensuite showers, washrooms and lockers. The only downside was my room faced the street where the pubs/bars were, which stayed open till atleast 2am. So the evenings could be quite noisy- even on a Sunday. The second night I invested in some ear plugs and made a huge difference.
- Tom (8/5): Great for a hostel - As hostels go, Hoax is one of the more spacious. Comfy beds each with a plug socket and plenty of floor space. Would stay here again.
- Lee (8/5): A handy place within the heart of the city. - Hoax was a pleasant surprise. The location at the heart of the Cavern quater was great, though a little noisy because we had the windows open due to the pleasant and warmer weather. However, the bed was comfortable and clean, as were the bathroom and toilet. I was in a smaller room with strangers that slept 6 people, but it was friendly and relaxed. There was free wifi but I could not connect to a server. This wasn't a problem because there were 2 computers for public use in the reception area. The staff were informative and friendly. I will definitely stay there again the next time I am in Liverpool.
- Drea (10/5): Shiny and clean, and VERY central - I've stayed in MANY hostels over the years. Hoax is by far the cleanest I've ever seen. I spent only two nights here, but I have no qualms about recommending the place. Central location, comfortable bunk beds (I was in a six-bed dorm), super clean facilities, a toilet and a shower just for the six of us, elevators - it's all good.
You also get a discount voucher for the attached restaurant, but I didn't check it out.
I had trouble getting wifi, but I think it was my laptop's problem. The guy at reception did his level best to help, but I ended up having to use the computers provided at reception.
At one point, a hoard of about 30 students descended upon us, but it didn't matter. I never encountered a line for the computers or the washrooms or anything.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Mixed blessings - Nice place but no real communal space to speak of. Rooms were clean with good facilities - staff very helpful and friendly. Room was very hot at night and right next to cavern quarter so very noisy until quite late but if you're staying out late that's not so bad. Free earplugs provided - you may need them!
- Joynadine (10/5): Great stay - I stayed here with two of my friends. We used to go to uni in liverpool, so we know it inside out. We came up to go out with some of our uni friends. Staff were v friendly and helpful. Music played was modern and good. Room was clean, modern, beds were comfortable. Great clean modern shower room and bathroom. Continental breakfast was good! Toast, croissants, orange juice, apple juice, water, tea, fruit. Excellent for a hostel. Yes it was noisy, but thats because of the central location. Right on top of everything, no need for a taxi. Perfect! if you want to go out and party - this is the perfect place to stay!!!
- Laura (8/5): I would stay here again. - The staff were very friendly, the room was very clean and the hostel is in a fantastic location as your right beside everything.I stayed here on a friday and saturday night, as it was the weekend the surrounding streets were very busy and noisy but that didn't upset my sleep at all in fact I was lying in bed wanting to get out and join them. They have free wifi which is always a plus. The only downside for me was the kitchen and sitting room facilities, I found them poor and uncomfortable and decided not to use them.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great hostel - Great stay, located right in the heart of Liverpool. Would stay again
- Mr. D. A. DeChoudhury (10/5): Great Stay - Excellent!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dead hotel - Probably the worst place i been to
Didnt even stay the night
Prefer travel lodge all day everyday
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Hostel I have stayed in - Great hostel, fantastic location on Matthew Street and great space in the room. Booked a 4 bed private and got a 6 bed room so that was nice. Great shower, overall extremely clean hostel. Good live music downstairs.
