• Heike (9/5): - Gute Lage, die Hosts haben sich sehr gut gekümmert. Das Bett war bequem, Aircon funktionierte gut. Ich hatte ein innen liegendes Zimmer und es war völlig okay! Zwei saubere Duschen sind für die Gäste vorhanden. Ich habe mich wohl gefühlt.

• Gabor (9/5): - The accommodation is really great. The place is located in the heart of Little India, in the center of George Town, so you can reach the best places in minutes. The atmosphere of the accommodation is excellent, you couldn't ask for better hosts. The vegetable snacks in the morning are beyond all expectations: they give you a really delicious Malay taste. You get a lot of advices and you can ask the host any question: they will definitely help you. So I can only recommend it! Well, I'm sure you can find "improvements" or things you don't like. If you have a cat allergy, don't come here...otherwise it's really good value for money!

• Jian Wei (10/5): A hidden gem - The hosts are friendly and helpful, giving us recommendations on food, transport, locations to visit, all before I even landed in Penang. Not applicable.
• Carina (10/5): - Arthur was an exceptionally warm and attentive host, always ready to help with any questions we had. We stayed in the family room, which was both comfortable and very quiet. The only sound we noticed was the islamic call to prayer in the morning, which is quite typical in George Town and hard to avoid. The shared kitchen and living area were cozy and consistently clean, creating a very welcoming atmosphere. Every morning, Arthur prepared a delicious vegetarian breakfast, giving us the chance to experience traditional local dishes. There were also cats in the house, but they were not intrusive at all. Even though I am usually allergic to cats, I didn’t experience any issues during our stay.

Everything was very clean and homely, the people were wonderful and the breakfasts and snacks were just an added bonus. Thank you!
• JINGMIN (10/5): - 最完美的是在这里遇到好多萍水相逢的朋友，可以一起聊天一起吃饭，体验一种不一样的旅途，这里就像家一样。另外民宿的地理位置可以说就在正中心，去哪里都非常方便。包括Auther在内的各位房东都特别热情，主动帮你解决各种问题，还有早饭吃。 设施不是很新，但这个价格这个位置这个体验，还要什么自行车。

They go all out to make sure that the guests feel welcomed, gets help, gets acquainted with the local culture (esp. food) and feels like it's home. It was superb! Nothing much to not like! Everything was so great!

• Victoria (9/5): - Great location and the team are exceptionally friendly. Wish I had stayed here earlier in my trip as other guests seemed nice and chatty too. Breakfast snacks were delicious and a lovely touch. Four cats which was a great bonus for me. The bathrooms and shower and through the kitchen meaning its a bit awkward to try change after shower or walk through kitchen in towel. But kitchen was quiet so it didnt really matter while I was there

• Valentina (10/5): Loved it! - Cocoa Meows is a place you call home in an instant! We were greeted with kindness and friendliness from the first moments we arrived. They prepared our room much earlier than expected, offered us (and all other guests) a complimentary breakfast of changing local meals every day, so you get to try the ultimate goods of the local cuisine. The facilities are great, since the hostel has all you need – clean showers and toilets, clean rooms and fresh bed linen and towels. Main areas shared with other guests are also very clean and we got a feeling that travellers staying here are not the usual hostel type of people – we found them very respectful, clean and attentive. The cats are of course the superstars of the place and anyone with a sweet spot for furry friends will have their heart melted within seconds :) During the stay you'll receive plenty of recommendations from the staff, including ferry timetables and everything else practical to make your life and stay easier and more enjoyable. Overall the place not only has all one needs and is located and administrated very well, but it surely exceeds any expectations with the most passionate, friendly and welcoming staff you'll ever meet in any hotel business!

• Elizabeth (10/5): Like coming home - My first place to stay in Malaysia and it was fab. Situated in the middle of Little India it’s a great location in Georgetown for getting around. Arthur, Howie and Amrit were all so friendly and helpful, providing a group WhatsApp with local interests, food recommendations and what was going on. Howie brought the most delicious breakfasts each morning and I was really touched when he found out I couldn’t eat wheat that he made sure I could eat what was made each day. The kitchen is well equipped and has tea, coffee and snacks available all day. My room was spacious and bed very comfortable. The use of ear plugs blocked the outside noise, which was quiet later at night. Cats Garfield and Bobby were an added bonus for me. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you all so much
• ramon_1985 (10/5): Amazing wonderful place I will not leave - I've been traveling in Asia for a long time now and have seen many accommodations. But this one is by far the best. You are given a warm welcome and feel right at home, even though you're far away from home. What's more, breakfast is served every day with local delicacies. And best of all, it's announced every day at 9:00 a.m. via video message. Each guest is also introduced via a WhatsApp group. All important information about George Town is announced there, and the breakfast video with detailed descriptions is posted. It's wonderful. I already miss the accommodation and wish the guys all the best for the future. Oh, and the boss here is Garfield. That I have to leave.
• Christine (10/5): - Oh. Where to start?! I had an amazing stay at Cocoa Mews!!!! The place is super well organised, so welcoming and in a great location in the middle of Little India. Amit, Howie and Arthur who run the place could not be more helpful and friendly. There's a WhatsApp group where they daily post ideas on what to do in Georgetown (e.g. they give you the route for the Heritage trail, tips on where to eat etc). They take their guests to night markets and find an answer to any question you might have! The place is also home to three wonderful cats, who are so well cared for and loved. And they also feed / care for the cats living on the street! :) Some rooms don't have a window, but the A/C works great and they can also give you a fan. The rooms (well, the whole house) are extremely clean, lovingly decorated, and you honestly feel like home! Bathrooms and toilets are shared, but again, extremely well cared for, clean, and they provide toiletries. The staff managed to create such a warm, welcoming and lovely place - and it attracts the same kind of travellers it seems! I met incredibly lovely people, who from the start included me in any activity they planned (but were also happy when I did my own thing). Oh, and Howie provides every morning the most delicious breakfast (I know, booking.com says no breakfast). Always something local, and vegetarian. And ALWAYS delicious. I am probably missing stuff to say. But I can honestly say that during my 2 months of travelling, this has been my favourite place. Thank you so much guys! Nothing. The place exceeded my expectations.

• Attila (9/5): Excellent place to stay, central and very friendly. - The host was very friendly and full of information on a daily basis regarding tourist attractions, where and how to get to them, etc. Room was clean, the bed was comfortable, there were snacks and drinks provided throughout the day. Great location (in Little India) close to all attractions, central bus station and ferry terminal. There wasn't anything I did not like really.

• Bernd (10/5): Tolle Location im Herzen der Stadt - Die Lage ist ideal,mitten in little India, wenige Schritte von der Bushaltestelle entfernt. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen, das Zimmer ist sehr sauber, nicht besonders groß, aber es reicht. Es wird sehr viel Wert auf Ruhe gelegt und diese wird auch eingehalten. Dadurch kann man nach einem langen Tag super entspannt schlafen. Die Klimaanlage hat sehr leise ihren Dienst geleistet. WC und Dusche sind super sauber und gepflegt, was will man mehr? Die Katze gehört zum Haus und wer wie ich allergisch reagiert hat halt Pech gehabt. Für die eine Nacht konnte und würde ich es immer wieder aushalten. Vielen Dank für die tolle Unterkunft. Uns ist nichts negatives aufgefallen.

King Arthur and Howie are such great hosts, giving everyone such good recommendations, providing loads of interesting snacks and fruit, even catering for gluten free needs. They're so lovely and enthusiastic! They go above and beyond with the offerings, sweets, tea and coffee, filtered water, eye masks, ear plugs etc. Amazing location, good hot showers etc.

• Valentina (9/5): Liebevolles Hostel! - Super nette Hosts, die einfach gute Laune verbreiten! Das Frühstück am Morgen war immer sehr lecker und es war interessant neues Essen auszuprobieren! Man wird in einem Whatsapp Chat aufgenommen, da erhält man viele Infos und Empfehlungen und kann mit anderen Reisenden in Kontakt kommen. Howie und Arthur sind wirklich extrem bemüht! Einzig das Zimmer hat eine etwas hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit. Mit dem AC oder der Belüftung ist es aber gut aushaltbar.

Du har et eget rom, sengen er komfortabel og hver morgen får du teste lokale matretter! Det er også gratis drikkevann, te, kaffe, brød med pålegg, juice, nudler +++ Beliggenheten er god, med masse streetart og gode spisesteder rett i nærheten. Anbefales på det varmeste!
• Sylwia (10/5): - Absolutnie wszystko!!!! Do Georgetown juz warto przyjechać dla samego noclegu w tym miejscu. Bardzo czysto, w pokoju klimatyzacja i biurko, wiec można bylo gdzie położyć rzeczy. Mimo że nie bookowalismy śniadań to i tak były i to przepyszne!!! W lodówce jakieś snacks 😁 Woda, kawa, herbata... Arthur jest najlepszy - tak pozytywny, pomocny i zabawny. Już dla niego warto tu być. Jesteście najlepsi!!!! Nic

• SHINJI (9/5): 一人旅ならオススメです - 交流できる可能性のある宿でありながら、パーティーって感じでもないので落ち着いて過ごせる。 ゲストハウスあるあるで結局は人次第だけど、今回は正解かなと。 朝食がいろいろ用意されてた。 耳栓やら綿棒やらfreeのものも多い。 シャワーのみの部屋はひとつ、もう一つはトイレとシャワーが同じ。 グループチャットでいろいろ情報を教えてくれる 一人旅でバックパッカースタイルなら問題なく良い宿。 あと、猫かわいい。 年に数回だと思うんだけど、たまたまインドの祭りの時期だったんで、爆竹がずっと鳴ってた。

• Max (10/5): Best hostel in Penang hands down. - We've never been made to feel so welcome in a hostel before, the staff are incredibly warm and always keen to know what you've been up to and give advice on places you might like to visit. Howie's breakfast dishes are the best way to start the day, and we really appreciated how he'd pick up the local fruits that were in season for guests to try. Arthur's enthusiasm and Amit's kindness made our stay extra special, we booked for 2 nights but ended up extending our stay for another 2! The decoration of the hostel is fun, and the communal kitchen and bathrooms are always clean and tidy. The cats Garfield and Bob are the stars of the show, aways very friendly and love to play with the guests.
• Ella (10/5): A home from home in Georgetown - We had such a great stay at Cocoa Mews. It felt like a home from home while we were in Georgetown and we were so grateful to have such a cosy and comfortable base. Arthur, Howie, Amit and Amir (and the two resident cats Garfield and Bobby) were incredibly welcoming, friendly and kind and went out of their way to help everyone and all the additional extras were so appreciated such as the delicious local breakfast provided every morning and all the snacks in the kitchen. The team were also so generous with their recommendations and tips which made our stay all the better and meant we didn’t miss a thing. We are so grateful to the team for such a wonderful stay and we already miss our Georgetown base! Nothing!

Feels like home, with all day free food (local cooked breakfast - different specialties every day, snacks fresh fruits, etc). 2 lovely cats. Great location. Nice balcony with a sink No windows (we had a nice balcony but I think it s one of the only room like that), toilets only on the 1st floor (we were on the 2nd floor)

• Cas (9/5): Great stay, would definitely recommend! - The hosts are amazing and very nice and friendly. The service definitely gets a 10. Location was good, a lot of stores and restaurants nearby. WiFi was good as well. Airconditioning works well. Bed was very comfortable. Every morning the hosts provide a cultural breakfast and you get to take drinks out the fridge and other snacks. You can text them any question and they send back tips and advise. Would definitely recommend this stay. The room on its own is not that special but good. 1 shower doesn’t have a airhole so it can get pretty hot.
• Anisha (10/5): Great stay with fun hosts l - Would recommend to stay here in Georgetown. The hosts Art and Howie are very friendly and dedicated to making sure you have a good stay. They always provide recommendations on the area with a group chat and are encouraging to try local food/snacks. Every morning there is a local breakfast (noodles, daal etc). The kitchen is well stocked with snacks and drinks and there’s also numerous beauty products. Rooms are basic and have no window but were still comfortable and had AC. The shared bathrooms were all clean, 2 toilets and 2 showers. The place is also walkable to all parts of the heritage town and next to a bus stop that goes to Penang hill and kek lok si temple.

• Mohamed (10/5): The best place to stay in Malaysia - The place was amazing!!! We had a great time. The hosts Howie and Amit were AWESOME! They were very kind and helpful suggesting places to go and foods to eat. Every little thing that we might need had been thought of and provided....And then some. Not to forget the fun we had with the cats. Both Garfield and Bobby were a joy to watch. I would visit Malaysia again just to stay at Cocoa Mews. It was not just the best place to stay in Malaysia....It was home. There is nothing not to like.
• Loshinee (10/5): Excellent stay! - The pictures on the portal really don’t do it justice. I had such a comfy stay in a place that had a lovely heritage vibe. Everything was super clean, and the hospitality was amazing. There was free breakfast every morning and the fridge was always stocked with drinks—also free! They even set up a WhatsApp group to share tips and guides around Penang, which was super helpful. Plus, it was a great way to meet and chat with other guests staying there. Occasionally, a curious cat might find its way inside—something to keep in mind for future guests.

We wish to thank Cocoa Mews for enhancing our stay in Malaysia a - Arthur, Howie & Amit are spectacular people.♥️♥️♥️ They each want to make us comfortable and to create a joyous time and for us to experience authentic Malaysian food and places whilst staying with them. The human interaction with these amazing people, and the other travellers staying at Cocoa Mews are wonderful, such generosity of time and spirit. Such a unique experience that I have never found elsewhere .

Breakfast and snacks (vegetarian) and informantion about what's happening in and around Penang. highly recommend for travellers young and not so young. (I'm 63). leaving

• Karen (10/5): Happy Homestay Cocoa Mews 🐈‍⬛🐈 - Welcome us in a warm way. They even prepared a little breakfast for all the guests. Well inform about this place like pressing a red dot besides the door if we want to go out and if we are coming back, just use the round plastic door small little thing attach on the key chain and just touch it besides the door and the door will open. Art , Amit, was very helpful in many ways. We will come back here next time. Am a Senior Citizens and feeling happy staying here. No stress. All of the operator in this place is friendly , kind, answers to every needs promptly. Will come back here next time.
• Kayleigh (9/5): Amazing place. - The hosts are superlovely, felt like family straight away. They will help you literally with everything you need. Amazing breakfast included. The airco was a bit old, therefore I didnt want to put it on and made the room hot.

Would definitely return - The host/staff were absolutely amazing, Arthur and Howie were so welcoming and had so much information to share to help us make the most of our visit, this was done through a WhatsApp group. Each morning they cooked delicious local food for us to try and snacks and drinks were provided 24/7 free of charge as well as a water refill tank. The facilities were always clean, also there are 2 resident cats that are friendly which just adds to the homeliness of the property. Also they had just renovated the room we were meant to stay in when we arrived so it had a smell of paint so they moved us with no charge to the bigger family room which also had a balcony which was great! The location in little India is also perfect we were within walking distance to almost everything Genuinely no complaints!
• Gabriella (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent hospitality. These guys should teach how to run a guesthouse. Peanut pancakes and other delicacies in the morning. Ice cubes in the fridge....what a simple thing still felt like luxury after a long day out in the heat.
• Cyriel (10/5): Heaven little hostel - I can only recommend this hostel, one of the warmest welcomes I have found during my travels The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable, especially the one with the balcony. Clean and cute common area. Very good cakes, you can see them waiting for breakfast. In short, for this price it will be very difficult for you to find better. And of corse cats lover will be in the heaven don't miss to cuddle Garfield! I try to find... maybe too small commun area

• Roisin (9/5): Welcoming stay in the heart of Little India - We loved the location, being in little India meant we were right in the heart of Georgetown and close to all the cultural attractions. Everyone who worked at Cocoa Mews was so helpful and welcoming and they always sent really useful information about activities in Penang. They also offered free breakfast every morning which was a really nice touch. The cats were super friendly and cute ❤️
• Witold (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. The staff is very hospitable and kind, easy to approach and relaxed. The place is located short walking distance from the ferry terminal, has two lovely cat living there and the Kaya spread for breakfast is yummy.
