Guest Reviews
- Paulette (10/5): - Was just amazing, the people, view and the rooms were so clean, be going there again for sure.
- Demetrio (10/5): The owners and staff are the most friendly and welcoming of any property we have stayed at. They couldn’t do enough for - Fantastic location with river frontage and magnificent gardens Nothing, it’s a fantastic place to stay
- Taryn (10/5): -
- Jobin Varghese Jacob (10/5): - The location, the staff, the cleanliness. Nothing that we didn't like.
- Kelsi (10/5): -
- jamie (10/5): - Beautiful views and setting Nil
- Andrew (8/5): Warm homely and a real escape. The management offer a personalised touch. - Beautiful tranquil location
- Elizabeth (3/5): Not good. - The room was very small. There were no robes or slippers. The bathroom was very old and the toilet roll holder fell on the ground. The linen was not new either. The place was uncomfortable and not what I expected for such a high price. The facilities felt like a bad hostel and not a 4 star hotel.
- Mairaj (9/5): Most relaxing stay with not so ideal rooms allocation - It's my favorite place in the entire Victoria, massive outdoors with your own yarra river access. I can go on... Two complaints - one I never find a room for my family of four, got to take two rooms. And two, this time I wanted a room with a balcony but it's so hard in the description to find that particular room. Naturally I thought I booked that one but found out otherwise. I wish they could've changed it for me as the hotel was empty on a Monday but they weren't very keen.
- Jane (9/5): -
- Ian (9/5): -
- Karina (10/5): Autumn paradise - The property is picturesque and an oasis of tranquility. The driveway needs a bit of pothole maintenance but is still very drivable.
- Natasha (10/5): -
- Jeremy (10/5): Although brief, it was a pleasant place to stay. - I woke up a little worse for wear after a wedding the night before, but the breakfast was exactly what I needed—it absolutely hit the spot. Everything on the plate was delicious.
The staff were warm and welcoming, and the gentleman who served us was especially cordial and attentive.
The setting by the Yarra is beautiful. While waiting for breakfast, I took a short walk down to the river and watched a gust of wind carry autumn leaves across the rolling hills toward the water—it was a really lovely moment.
- Canise (8/5): We enjoyed the stay in this property. - Great property. Breakfast is delightful. We’ll be back. Old bathroom.
- Simpson (10/5): Wonderful in every way!! - Christine was an outstanding host as were her staff. Their hospitality and friendliness were exceptional as was the location on the river and the beautifully furnished and kept premises . The breakfast was fantastic. Nothing
- Tingting (10/5): Place that I will indefinite re visit -
- Lorraine (8/5): Nice quiet getaway - In the quiet part just out if town but still close enough
- Christine (10/5): beautiful location, family run accomodation with a great breakfast - Location beautiful and quiet, friendly staff, relaxation lounge areas and great breakfast room small but adequate
- Alice (10/5): -
- Jason Raj00 (9/5): -
- emteecee (10/5): - The staff were incredible.
Nothing was too much trouble, from waiting out of hours to ensure my elderly father got in and to his room at night safely, to cooking us a really great hot breakfast the next morning. The lighting everywhere but we do understand that to modernize lights would take away the atmosphere of the beautiful building.
- Lynda (8/5): Peaceful - Beautifully located on the river. Private and expansive grounds. Lovely views. Immaculate rooms. Warm and clean with plenty of room. Bathroom pristine. Loved the toaster and microwave availability. Excellent breakfast and delightful friendly staff Keys were a little hard to get to work
- Anthony (10/5): A lovely place to stay. Very comfortable with a homely feeling. We would highly recommend. - The breakfast was lovely and the location was great. The view from the dining area was excellent. We we very happy with everything.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Pratchaya (10/5): -
- Peter (9/5): - Very warm and welcoming
- Maria (10/5): -
- Trevor (10/5): Great location to explore the Yarra Valley - Great location and very friendly staff Rooms are not huge but this was not an issue
- Daryl (8/5): A very comfortable stay. Many thanks to Christine and her family, and staff - The property is set in a beautiful, natural location, with easy parking, a great breakfast and good showers. But most of all, the staff/owners are lovely - helpful, hospitable and kind It would depend on what you’re looking for. Oscars is a little distance from the town and amenities and very quiet on weekday evenings, so if you’re staying alone, it might feel a little isolated
- Kerry (10/5): We would definitely stay here again. - Such a beautiful and peaceful location. We thoroughly enjoyed sampling a local wine on the deck, watching and listening to the Yarra River. Breakfast each morning was delicious. The entire staff made us feel very welcome.
- Marion (9/5): Overall a great place to stay and would definately consider returning but booking a different room. - Location!! Perfect on the river. Staff were helpful and nice. Breakfast was delicious, well cooked and presented. Clean and well presented. Room was small and basic.
- Eloise (10/5): - Wonderful stay, exquisit rooms and lovely staff. Breakfast was very generous - hot food and barista coffee. We had such a wonderful time. Rooms were spacious and clean. Beautiful with the river at the back. Such a nice property we will be back!
- Mads (8/5): - We loved the classic atmosphere - with the modern touch. Relaxing to the Upper Yarra river bubbling along outside our terrace was exactly what we needed after our drive from Melbourne. Lovely chats with the owner and her mother was icing on the cake.
- Robyn (10/5): Beautiful setting for a short stay as a single traveler with wonderful shops to browse in. - Classy decor, fabulous breakfast, quiet and relaxing. Availability of a light dinner.
- Wendy (9/5): -
- Esther (10/5): Wonderful stay and I would return if given a chance - Beautiful location by the lake. Nothing much
- Grace (10/5): Fanatic value for money, lovely location and friendly accommodating staff. - Staff checked us in early without us asking!
Comfortable rooms and lovely breakfast.
- Muhammad (10/5): -
- Mary (8/5): - Beautiful surroundings, very friendly and hospitable staff.
The breakfast was amazing, cold and hot breakfast offered. The hot breakfast was by order and cooked to perfection. Coffee was also by order.
- Carolyn (10/5): - Friendly helpful staff. Great position Very good breakfast. Tiny fridge. Only tea cups and no suitable glass or tumbler for a tooth mug.
- Rebekah (9/5): - The staff were excellent as was the breakfast. The room was slightly on the small side but we'll appointed and extremely clean. The room was quite dark. Better lighting would have been nice.
- Jeanette (9/5): A lovely stay in peaceful surroundings. - Our friendly host Christine went out of her way to make our stay exceptional and special. Thank you.
- Ericka (10/5): It was a lovely, short but sweet stay. We got the chance to meet the owners and their family members. They gave us a bea - It is serene and well-maintained. Nothing. Everything is great
- Brent (9/5): - Staff were super helpful, welcoming and very accommodating.
Sauna experience is highly recommended!!
- Darren (10/5): - Staff fantastic very friendly location and breakfast was excellent
- Samantha (1/5): Very expensive stay for a 2 star experience - Location was quite good No breakfast available as stated in package.
Night access to get in after 8pm was not well lit or marked. Very hard to find.
Lock on windows in our room didn’t lock at all - no one to call for help.
Hot water tap in room broken and when you turn it off it blasts very hot water all over you.
Television stations not working.
No reception on mobile available in our room, and no phone in our room at all - Huge safety issue.
No hair dryer or iron available.
Room in between stay was not turned over.
Felt like I was completely ripped off.
- Carly (9/5): Perfect for a relaxing weekend away - Such a gorgeous, relaxing place for a weekend away. The team were all so lovely and helpful, the river area is beautiful, delicious breakfast, clean and comfortable room, easy (and pretty) walk into cafes/pub The only very small negative was sharing a decking with our neighbour (a bit awkward when you both want to use it). But overall it was a great stay and I’d still highly recommend
- John (9/5): Everything very good - All aspects were excellent More playing amentities
- Vikki (9/5): A special place, worth a visit. - The location was fabulous - we enjoyed sitting down by the river with a glass of wine! The welcome, and service throughout, was superb - warm and friendly. The room was clean and had a shared area for sitting out. The breakfast was second-to-none and several wineries nearby are worth exploring. Would definitely recommend. The room was a little small and we had to drive into town, but that didn't take away from the great location and family feel of Oscar's. Ask for a room with a river view.
- Wing (10/5): Warm and comfortable -
- James (10/5): - Everything was awesome. The staff were so nice and helpful! Perfect location and worth every cent. And the breakfast was yummy!!
Will definitely be back again sometime!
- Louise (9/5): Wonderful, peaceful weekend away in stunning surrounds, minutes from Warburton. - Oscars is a beautiful place, both inside the property and outside. The grounds are expansive and peaceful. The staff are so friendly, even greeting me by name as I walked through the front door on arrival. They were responsive to our requests. The room was spacious, very clean and more modern than I expected (the property has a lovely mix of old and new). Breakfast was simple and delicious and they were happy to accommodate my dietary requirements. The location is also great - it is just a few minutes drive from Warburton or you can walk along the trail. I highly recommend this hotel. Nothing.
- Eveline (10/5): -
- Prashanth (8/5): Green lush nature all around! - Beautiful location and property. Really helpful staff. Rooms were small, but we understand the stay has so much more to offer
- Amanda (10/5): - My friend and I had such a lovely stay at Oscar's. The bed was super comfy after a really long walk, and good shower pressure was much appreciated.
The cooked breakfast is delicious, but the highlight for me is the location - the river at the back of the property is stunning.
Thanks to Christine, Cathy and team for such a great stay.
- Angela (9/5): Excellent location and well priced for our overnight stay in Warburton . - Loved the proximity to Warburton township and surrounding sights. Oscar’s is a beautiful guest house with large dining room and lounge areas. There is a great outdoor deck and grassy area leading you directing to the Yarra river. It is literally on the doorstep. The rooms are modern and well appointed . Great for our overnight stay with a hearty, delicious breakfast included. Christine and her mum Catherine were wonderful hosts. Really our stay was wonderful. I would have loved some hand moisturiser in the bathroom as a little extra pampering. Everything really was fabulous.
- Kelisha (10/5): - The staff were absolutely amazing. Breakfast was delicious and the location was our favorite on the entire trip. Everything was just thought of. The only thing we didn't like was that restaurant was closed for dinner and we had a small one and wanted to just eat there, however the staff offered to heat up some meals we purchased in the kitchen microwave.
- Liliana (9/5): - I had an absolutely wonderful experience during my stay at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming, professional, and incredibly attentive. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and I immediately felt well taken care of.
- Jo (10/5): - It was so peaceful and absolutely beautiful.
- Evie (9/5): - We had a wonderful stay in Warburton – the staff were amazing, the location was perfect with direct river access, peaceful and quiet yet still close enough to town.
- Amanda (9/5): - Delicious breakfast, comfy beds and a magical spot by the river! Nothing
- Adrian (9/5): . - Wonderful staff. Extremely helpful and made you feel very welcome.
Beautiful location Ensuite was a little tired but still functional.
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Emma (9/5): Beautiful location and stay - Breakfast was great and beautiful grounds
- Annette (9/5): - Such a beautiful location, cosy room and the staff were wonderful
- Nic (10/5): - It’s gorgeous and calming and the family who run it are awesome
- thapar (8/5): - Lovely property location with the Yarra flowing through. Excellent breakfast. Hospitable and friendly family business. Will revisit. Wish the rooms were bigger. They were clean and comfortable though. Suggest more outdoor seating besides the Yarra.
- Cavin (9/5): -
- A. Foster (10/5): FANTASTIC!!! I will be back. - My room was beautiful with a lovely view of the trees, and so close to the river. I could hear the sound of the river which was so peaceful. Some rooms have beautiful river views. I liked my room with the view of the trees and shade. The bed was an extra large King size and very, very comfortable. The room and bathroom were so clean and fresh. Very ,Very happy. The location was really good and the breakfast was also very nice. ALL OF THE STAFF have been FANTASTIC. Friendly , welcoming and really nice to talk to. I am so happy I booked " Oscar's" and am arranging to come again with other friends. I liked everything.
- Raelle (10/5): -
- Darcy (10/5): - The whole experience was great.
My favourite part was the little patio. I spent the afternoon out there reading my book and listening to the rain. Absolutely divine.
And the staff are just gorgeous. So friendly and accommodating. I felt very taken care of. My neighbors had a talent for slamming doors at all hours, but that's not your fault haha
- Bella (10/5): -
- Parker (10/5): Lovely weekend at Oscar’s would book again. - Christine and the staff were so lovely and accommodating and the grounds were stunning! Amazing coffee and brekky was a great start to our mornings.

- Heidi (10/5): - We liked everything and will be back another time.
- Kevin (8/5): -

- Kellie (10/5): Our hosts were just perfect. Even shared a lovely wine with us on the back balcony overlooking the Yarra. - Beautiful peaceful homestead with the Yarra river sounds in the background. Nothing
- ron (10/5): Lovely serene location- comfortable bed- great breakfast- delightful hosts including our breakfast maitre d' Bennet - Everything - peaceful location. Lovely family business - good luck to you all
- Prerna (10/5): The most amazing stay with beautiful views and exceptionally accommodating staff. - Stunning views, rich history, and top-tier service! Oscars went above and beyond by rescheduling our stay for free after a last-minute cancellation. The stargazing was a highlight despite the clouds. Highly recommended! While the 300m walk from the bus stop is very short, the dogs at the neighboring farm can be quite intimidating. I’d suggest that future guests arriving by public transport call the hotel ahead of time for advice or a quick pickup to avoid a stressful walk.
- Rosemary (9/5): Relaxing - Great location Room a bit small
- Cathy (10/5): Christine was an exceptional host. - Lovely and peaceful Nothing
- Sarah (9/5): Perfect escape in serene, relaxing location - The location by the Yarra River is breathtakingly beautiful. The grounds and huge and so peaceful and relaxing. The views from the dining room and balcony are beautiful. Breakfast is delicious. Very close to bike track. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Can't think of a thing.
- Egan (8/5): -
- Kellie (10/5): Highly recommend this beautiful family guest house - Beautiful family business, lovely relaxing location, delicious home cooked breakfast. Doors in hallway can be noisy if guests aren’t being considerate.
- Lorelee (8/5): Very relaxing and enjoyable. - Staff very friendly. Lounge rooms, big deck, river frontage. Breakfast in dining room was amazing! Walls were a bit thin and room a bit small.
- James (9/5): -
- Emily (7/5): Overpriced, complete apathy from all staff we interacted wih. - It was on the river and very quiet. The room overview stated that we would have either a garden balcony or river view, but our room overlooked the car park. When I raised this with reception, I was told it was “due to space” in the room. Our room was not spacious at all, and there was no apology or offer of any kind, just a dismissive “it is what it is.” The listing also mentioned facilities that were not included, and again the response was simply, “oh, it’s hard to change things on booking.com,” which didn’t feel acceptable.
At breakfast, our table wasn’t ready )which is fine and can happen) but it was cleared and cleaned by a young child (around 8–10 years old). While he did his absolute best, my idea of a holiday isn’t having to micromanage a child on how to move dishes, be sprayed by an over-enthusiastic cleaning bottle, and then be handed cutlery with the same hand he’d just used to wipe down a now very wet table. This is not a critique of him; he tried hard. But at $250 a night, I do expect that the staff handling food service are trained, capable, and not requiring guests’ support to complete their job. The whole idea of ‘getting away’ was to relax, I could have stayed home and had my own children do the same thing for free.
Overall, the experience didn’t align with what was advertised or what we paid for.
