Guest Reviews
- Vanessa (10/5): - Beautiful grounds, Clean, comfortable beds, great food, friendly service. Swimming pool, hot spring pools, and river swimming area were great amenities. We would stay here again and recommend to all.
- Melissa (10/5): - We loved staying at Canon de La Vieja Lodge for our first few nights in Costa Rica. It was a short distance from the airport and close to the National Park. Lots to explore in the area. The property had many activities to enjoy. Even though the property is popular with tour groups we never felt it was crowded and always found quiet areas to enjoy by ourselves. We greatly appreciated the hot water pools down by the river as well as the main pool with it's swim up bar. Highly recommend this Lodge. Keep in mind it has an eco lodge vibe. There are many animals as well as insects.
- Christina (10/5): - Admittedly, we discovered this lodge because our flight from the Liberia airport was unexpectedly cancelled. We had spent a long, awful day at the airport and it was rather late when I booked through Expedia. (The airline had no accommodations planned for travelers. Ufff). I was SO relieved that the staff were willing to stay open late to receive us. They even asked the restaurant staff to stay late so we could all get something to eat before bed. The natural surroundings and nature are beautiful. The breakfast was a perfect Tico breakfast with gallo pinto and huevos. I am so grateful to have had a safe, clean cabin with air-conditioning in which to stay. Would highly recommend!
- Justin (10/5): - Great place to stay close to Liberia airport on your last night. Rustic feel with nice pool and soaking tubs overlooking the River. Ziplining was fun too!!
Would stay again!
Justin from Montreal.
- Stacey (10/5): Nice stay near Rincon de la Vieja - We enjoyed our stay! It was comfortable, rustic and basic needs were met. Nothing fancy. Restaurant was yummy. Free breakfast was good typical Costa Rican food. Many activities available.
Spa service, mud baths, horseback riding, rock climbing all available. Nice poolside bar.
- Timothy (10/5): - Very beautiful property! Great staff, good food, lots of activities! We love the place!
- Hilary (6/5): Disappointing. - Disappointing experience. Aged facilities, no amenities, bathroom in poor condition. The river side thermal pools, sustainability elements and the breakfast were the reason I am not leaving a 1 star review. Left after just one night and forfeited hundreds of dollars for my remaining reservation.
- Jessica (4/5): - Our stay at Canon de la Vieja was...weird.
The reception desk did check us in efficiently and shared some pertinent details about the property. But what staff failed to share was also rather important, e.g. where our room was (they showed us on the map but then we were left on our own to figure out a rather circuitous arrangement of cabins) and how to unlock the surprisingly tricky (and backwards!) lock on the cabin door. It was only our luck that there was a staff member outside the cabin next to us who let us in - didn't say a word, by the way, just opened it and left. We then entered a very simple, underwhelming room inclusive of many, many bugs and paper thin walls.
Lastly, as we entered the restaurant for dinner we were ushered in to a different place and then left awkwardly standing next to a pool bar. We were not greeted and were left to our assumptions. Eventually, our server was lovely and the food was, well it was ok.
This was our last stop on our trip through Costa Rica and my husband and I were only staying one night to be closer to the airport in Liberia for our next morning flight out. Let's just say that I'm glad we weren't planning on staying any longer.
I would've been more accepting of the rustic facilities if there had been a little more hospitality involved.
- Timothy (10/5): - The property was a very typical Costa Rican Lodge. Beautiful location along a very nice river, off the beaten track away from loud city noise. The convenience of offering rafting, tubing, zip lining rappelling, spa service etc all in one place is very nice. It is reasonably priced for activities and the restaurant is very good. A nice buffet breakfast is included. Nice swim up bar and pool are. Service was prompt.
As I stated earlier, the lodge was typical and can use a little updating. It had old school louvered windows and half of them had broken handles to open and close them which made it difficult for the A/C to be of optimum performance. Our entrance door dragged a little on the floor about halfway open, but a little lifting and it opened fully. If would be nice to have a mini fridge in the rooms. Hot water worked well! Overall, I really liked the place though. Staff was very friendly and the grounds were very pretty. I will be back with the kids next time to enjoy the activities offered.
- Martin (10/5): - This is a really lovely full service resort with many adventure options, spas, pool, bar and restaurant. No need to leave! The staff were very friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning. The only thing a bit difficult is getting to and from the LIR airport. Thank you!
- Amy (10/5): - Lovely place great facilities, quiet, staff were really friendly, spa and hot springs were an added bonus!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nature and bugs are inseparable. Still, the red ants crawling on the walls of the room were a little uncomfortable. The service was great though.
- Eddie (8/5): - No hot water to shower for 2 days! Called the front desk on the 1st night they said housekeeping is off duty. Next day we were out all day for our adventures and when we returned still no hot water. 1st night dinner at their restaurant the whole lodge lost power for few hours. We ate dinner in the dark, it was kind of adventurous. Dinner was ok.
- laurence (10/5): - Best steak dish. All in one location. Close to rincon de la vieja and llanos del cortes
- Marco (10/5): - Absolutely love this place, particularly the views from the trails near the river.
- Richard (10/5): - Beautiful relaxing views
- Lorena (8/5): - Not what is promised
- Lisa (8/5): - At first I thought it had a bit of a weird vibe, because it clearly caters to big groups, but this was actually a bonus because the groups don’t stick around during the day, which means we had the pool area all to ourselves. The pool area was really nice. The restaurant had a pretty basic menu, and the food was ok, not great, but well priced. Rooms were also basic, but clean and met all our needs. We stayed three nights and did the La Leona Waterfall tour in Curubande and walked at the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. With a car, the lodge was well located for this. Also very close to Liberia and the airport, but still felt rural, out of the way, quiet. The grounds were also nice, treed. Zip lining at the lodge looked fun.
- tom (10/5): - The activities were very good. Cabins were very nice, staff were very nice.
- Kristin (8/5): - Overall really good experience nice pool, good breakfast friendly staff we checked in almost when they closed the reception- didn’t have towels in room and no one seemed to be able to get us any with reception closed
- Courtney (8/5): - This has an eco lodge feel to it, so don’t expect anything fancy. However, we enjoyed our stay and had fun doing the activities. The grounds are very pretty and there is a lot of nature all around. The staff was just okay. Not as outgoing or friendly as we have found other places and the communication wasn’t great. For example, we never did figure out how to use the mud baths because no one was available to help us. But, overall, it was a fun place to stay with my kids and I’m glad we went.
- vera (10/5): - Great accommodation, 1/2 h from Liberia Airport by taxi. We had 2 rooms in one separate cottage in the middle of dry forest. We didn’t see for years such a beautiful Sky at night with so many starts. Clean air. Good breakfast. Great package for activities. Very accommodating front desk with each and every request. Overall- very good Expirience.
- tom (10/5): - on site adventure trips, hot pools
- Anne-Marie (4/5): - Service and food at restaurant was great. Accommodations and grounds not worth the $97. Just better than an hostel
- Marie (8/5): - Loved our stay but hardly any guests, just bus tours for day use. They only turned on waterfalls in pool when tour buses came to zip line. Never for us who actually paid to stay there and wanted to swim. Food was excellent and well prepared. Lots to see and do.
- Steve (8/5): - Terrific food, pools, cleanliness.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Such a fun way to end our stay in Costa Rica! With two different flight departure times for our group of four adults and four kids, this beautiful property was the perfect spot close (30 minutes) to the airport. The Costa Rican lodge-type cabins, thermal soaking pools, swimming hole, pool, and breakfast buffet made it an extra treat for the kids rather than a boring hotel overnight. Kudos to the staff for a lovely, simple, friendly, “jungle adventure”.
- Mayra (8/5): - Great place
- Karen (10/5): - Beautiful and green resort located close to Rincon de la Vieja National Park. The pool, pool bar, and restaurant are great. Situated on the Colorado River, the property is made up of air conditioned wood cabins. The natural pools and diving area on the river are beautiful. We loved the place and would stay here again.
- Morena (10/5): - Excellent service
Very peaceful if you’re looking to relax. Breakfast included! Lots of activities within the property.
- Cherie (4/5): - The hot springs are not the hottest, maybe 100F.
The breakfast was just basic. The food was just basic. The bed was hard, and with springs. The water pressure was not hard. The receptionist was not friendly. You cannot get into the room until checkin. The double charged me for my room, still waiting on a credit. Owner needs to be more involved. Coffee was disgusting, and the milk taste like powder milk. Smoothies didn't have real fruit.
- Nadia (6/5): - This property felt a bit more like a hostel than we expected. It was very isolated, more so than we expected. It was drivable to the adventures we had planned for the day.
- Maranda (4/5): - The scenery was amazing it was great to go into the Hot Springs and see all of the trees and the greenery around it. The only part that I did not like was that we had poop in our beds and in our sheets. We also had to fight termites and ants through the night
- Aaron y Naddia (6/5): - The property was in a great location, rooms comfortable, and food and staff at restaurant was excellent.
The bad part is the front desk staff are very shady. They accept cash or credit card. We even called and asked to be sure, But on arrival the guy wanted us to pay cash. We said we’ll pay with the card since it’s accepted, but he protested profusely, and said he would knock off $20 if we paid cash but he refused to give a receipt until we checked out.
So we did, 2 days later when we were ready to check out, the lady at the front desk accused us of not paying and was very RUDE!!!!
Later we went back to finish the check out. The guy was there again and said the women was crazy and he said we are ok. But still refusing to give a receipt. Finally he agreed, but the rest said we still owed the money. He wrote on it , canceled. I said thats not enough and finally got a correct receipt with $0 balance. Extremely frustrating and crooked.
- Kelly (8/5): - We were looking for a place close to the Liberia airport that still felt like Costa Rica for our last night because we had an early flight the next morning. This hotel was a lovely option. It was pretty rustic after our time in an all inclusive at the beach but it was clean and tidy and it felt like a little cabin in the jungle! The pool, poolbar, river and hot springs were great. It was the rainy season and we were only 2 tables at dinner, so we had the place to ourselves! The property is pretty big and we did not see 1/2 of it but the check in was pretty early and we got time to see the parts we wanted. Spa was closed. Covid has cancelled their mud baths and massages for a while longer. Dinner was good. Service was great. It is about 25 mins from airport, out in one of the national parks near Liberia. It was very quiet and out of the way. Felt more 'Costa Rica' than a Hyatt across the road from the Airport, but it depends on what you are looking for, right?
- Boaz (8/5): - There are a lot of amazing opportunities to enjoy nature within the hotel. They are an amazing work to be sustainable, and eco-friendly. The spa and river are amazing. Loved the place
- Gadmal Uriel (4/5): - The place look old and like Poor mantainance to the áreas, and cleaning is not good of the rooms
- Kristof (10/5): Great stay at a beautiful place in nature. - Just a beautiful place surrounded by nature just outside of Liberia. We stayed there for an early morning flight as the airport is only 23 minutes away. The pool and the hot water pools are amazing. The grounds are really well kept and the staff is super friendly. The also have ziplining, mud bath and other activities on the property. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Love the fact that they are eco-friendly.
- joe (10/5): - Beautiful eco lodge and hot springs. Close to the airport
- Paulina (8/5): - A place to keep kids entertained while we awaited an afternoon flight the next day. Food sounded great on the menu but in reality left a lot to be desired. I asked staff if the Caesar salad dressing was made in-house, was told yes, and when it arrived it was almost inedible with an off putting flavour and croutons made from packaged white bread. Pesto was not fresh (brown) and our pasta had a half cup of oil pooled on the bottom. Lots of room for improvement in the kitchen.
- Nathanael (10/5): - This was my third time staying here. I love to stay here the day I fly into LIR (or the day before I fly out). It is quiet (even with a tour bus filled with guests!! Filling up the place) and clean and gives me a necessary tranquility in these traveling days that allows me to transition from the hustle and bustle of traveling to the pace of a PuraVida life and back again in a gentle way. (The first time I stayed here, the brochure in the room was helpful to me in understanding the history and how to show respect for this country and it’s people). The Colorado River calls to me and is so well preserved and displayed here. You don’t want to miss it! There are many options for activities, good food and enjoying the natural beauty of Costa Rica as well so you can get a last minute kayak, spa or zip line in before heading to the airport which is only 20 minutes away. Love, love love 💗 this place and the people who keep it working. I was sad to see the one Restaurant by the river was closed this time. The Guanacaste tables and chairs are majestic and the views are amazing. This space would make a great place for a special reception or family reunión event.
- Cherie (10/5): Nice for a short stay - We stayed here to position ourselves for the hike to La Leona Waterfall. Close driving distance to Liberia. The property is very pretty. A lovely traditional breakfast is included. We ate our two dinners at the onsite restaurant. The food was good, but a little pricy. The pool looked great, though we didn't have time to make use of it.
- Amanda (4/5): - I have bumps over my arms, hand and legs after sleeping one night on property. I felt itchy all night all over my body and head. Not sure if it was bed bugs or fleas. I checked the mattress and didnt see a ring. There were ants all over the bathroom and room. The room has bare amenities but the shower pressure was great and the staff was wicked nice. But will nit be staying there again and could only bare 1 night.
- Robyn (2/5): - Very hard to communicate with staff. Do not answer phone & refused to refund my trip even though it was due to me not being able to get a hold of them.
- Geovanni (10/5): - Great stay with kids and family. Lot of activities to do around the property: Canopy, Rafting and more stuff. Very closed to other places like Catarata La Leona, Parque Santa Rosa, etc.
We really enjoy our stay.
- Victoria (10/5): - Fun area
- Lindsey (10/5): Nice cabins up on mountainside - Excellent cabins up on the mountain side! Looked just like the pictures. Hot Springs and pool are included, and many other activities possible for extra charge. Restaurant has fresh food and decent array of choices. Breakfast buffet had typical breakfast and also cereal.
- Melissa (8/5): Convenient Jungle Getaway - Good value, nice location to Rincon National Park, and Liberia. room very simple and walls thin with neighbors departing early. good WiFi. Restaurant had excellent food and inexpensive. Our rate included breakfast which was superb. Very nice pool with bar.
- Adriana (10/5): - My parents stayed here with my daughters for 1 night. The Staff was super friendly and accommodating. The grounds are green and awesome. Pool and jacuzzi are freaking cold! Rustic retreat that’s clean, safe and a great relaxing place with peace and quiet.
- Christopher (8/5): - Starting from the check-in, it was quick and easy.
The rooms are big and had a lot of free space. the beds are comfortable and the pillows too. the bathroom is big but the toilet is a little small.
The property itself it’s great! Big, with a lot of nature, nice views and a very nice Pool ( a little bit small if the Hotel gets packed).
Food can be better but it’s enjoyable.
Overall, a very nice stay.
- Cristian (10/5): - Loved the river, hot springs, pool, breakfast and cabin
- Glenn (2/5): - Scam artists. The app they use said it was 20 miles from my location. I booked it and found out that most of the distance was over water. Within 5 minutes of booking I found out it would be impossible to get to. No acceptance of the misinformation. Only statement of policy. Be careful when booking with people like this.
- Maria (8/5): - Las personas muy amables. Muchas actividades para pasar en familia. Los cuartos muy comodos y limpios
- Edgar (10/5): - Amazing
- Bryce (8/5): - Great area for kids
- James (10/5): - It’s an expansive property offering lots of open space to roam around. The rooms, which are more like little cottages, are clean and spacious. I also really liked the centrally located pool, the river spa area and the scenic bridge across the river on the property.
- Stephanie (10/5): Wonderful Stay - We absolutely loved this hotel! The staff was so kind and friendly. We felt so comfortable here. We went horseback riding and did the zipline. We also loved the thermal pools at the spa. They are in a beautiful natural setting right by the river. The little cabin rooms are so sweet. Our air conditioner worked great, and we had very reliable wifi. The free breakfast was also very nice. My one (small) complaint was that the dinner menu is a little bit limited, but that was okay. We just checked out this morning, and my kids are already asking to go back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Front desk was very helpful. We arrived later and went out hiking early in the morning, so didn’t spend much time there. Good breakfadt
- Carolina (10/5): - Beautiful place
- Angela (10/5): - This place is the best. The staff is friendly and kind. Breakfast and other meals are deliciously prepared. The grounds are beautiful. I was sick while there and the staff checked in on me, brought me tea, and were so helpful. When I’m Liberia, this is a great place to escape the city and find peace.
- Jack (8/5): Great stay - I enjoyed the rural/simple feel to the area. Traveled during the slow time of the year so there weren’t very many other people there. Food was delicious. Breakfast was included. Rooms were simple with no tv which was fine by me. Ac worked well. Bed was pretty hard but I’ve found most beds in CR are hard. Overall I would stay again. We didn’t have any time to do any of the excursions from the hotel which seemed very fun.
- Thomas (10/5): - Loved everything
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet, friendly staff, several activities and wildlife
- Verified traveler (10/5): - hot spring pool, sauna and plunge pool, beautiful setting on the Colorado River
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It's a nice quiet place, the Howler Monkeys woke us up a couple mornings, but it was pretty cool. We had the crystal clear pool to ourselves and the Hot Springs and river swimming was a lot of fun. Really affordable, at first I was disappointed we couldn't get reservation at Adventure Park down the road, but if I had to do it all over again, I would stay at the Canon, kids and wife loved it
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lots of activity options right on the property! Zip lines, hot springs, tubing, swim up bar, rock climbing, etc!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a basic room that was very clean. The property itself was very beautiful, and the meals were fresh and delicious. I could not have asked for a better visit, everything was wonderful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel is rustic with duplex one floor cabins. Air conditioning does not work in all rooms, we had two rooms, one worked the other did not. Bathrooms were tiled, fixture old and mineral-blocked. Ant and spiders abundant in bath. Towels were hard. Beds were hard and old, furniture was cheap and old, windows and shelves were dusty, blinds were broken. Lighting was dim and bugs in room as well as geckos. Breakfast was ok but Gallo pinto was bland. Pancakes were small and only two. Coffee was good but they only had low-fat milk. Restaurant for breakfast was covered open-air and overlooked beautiful canyon/river/forest. At 10 am zip liners scream by. Grounds were beautiful but needed more weeding and ground cover (a little dusty). Large trees provide shade and birds/butterflies. Swimming pool beautiful. Lunch and dinner menu in pool restaurant was very limited and food was just ok. No free bottled water, no in-room refrigerator. Felt a little better than camping, my mother wouldn’t be happy here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved this place, a lot of activities, great location to enjoy all waterfalls around, will be back next time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Can’t wait to come back here! This place exceeded our expectations. We loved the jungle bungalow-type rooms, and your stay includes access to the pool (love the waterfalls into it!), the hot and cool spring pools at the spa along the river, delicious breakfast, and there’s a hanging bridge over the river to explore. There are many additional adventure options you can pay in addition for. We just left and stayed here beginning of May. It rained hard at night but we enjoyed the hot spring while it rained. Cañon de la Viejas is magical!
- Frank (10/5): Rustic lodge in the jungle - The lodge is in a great location located on a beautiful river and they offer many options for fun. The staff are super nice and quick to respond to your needs. The location is in the national park, I would highly recommend for families as they offer so much to keep the kiddos busy. I would recommend a rental car, it is a $60 taxi from the airport one way. We stayed two nights which was the perfect amount of time to enjoy the lodge.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful stay! Park-like grounds much more extensive than we expected and the staff and guides all very kind and solicitous. Our detached bungalow was totally private, I think much better than attached "duplex" style ones, but all are charming, even if simple and a bit rustic. Everything tiled, strong AC, only trickle of hot water but it was hot enough that we didn't bother to ask to have it looked at. They let us split the combo tour over 2 days which was a big plus - tubing and zip lining both excellent with good guides and not rushed at all. the rappel/climb very short (one pitch and guide hurried the climb up) but still cool. "Spa" mud treatment kind of worthless as other reviews said. Restaurant surprisingly good, very tasty fish and ceviche. Best of all was seeing howler monkeys on the property. Overall a great value and amazing to find such a different world only 20 minutes from Liberia. Highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful area! Perfect place to spend time with family, bring your energy to do lots of exercices. You can bike swin in the pool or in the river and do other water sports.
The windows do not have mosquito screens. So bring repelent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful pool and river area, room to spread out. Had to book time for breakfast and they wouldn’t serve me after that time.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The pool area was very nice and the property is full of Howler Monkeys and all sorts of birds. We had plumbing issues and A/C issues and the electricity went out one evening. The facilities are pretty run down. It is in a good location, easy drive to Liberia for dining and about an hour to the Nicaragua border... lots of hiking and beaching in between.
- amie (10/5): Awesome place - Beautiful place! Great food! Comfortable and safe! Staff are social distancing and wearing masks. We were treated amazing and would highly recommend it here. Close to Liberia but far enough to need a car. Great onsite activities too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was clean and well kept. The pool was beautiful. Staff was friendly. No refrigerator in the room which was our only complaint.
Food was good in the restaurant. Great Place!
- Mike (8/5): - Although a bit out of the way, relative to the Liberia airport, the property offers outstanding and varied recreational opportunities. I regard it as an excellent value considering a breakfast buffet is included. Staff were friendly and accommodating, going so far as to remember my name.
Some of the damaged roadway and sidewalks inside the resort are in need of repair.
- Jennifer H. (10/5): Family - Very family friendly. Many actives for all ages. River rafting, hot springs, messages, pool, restaurant, bar and of course zip lining. All on the property. Close to Rincon and downtown Libera. Libera has restaurants, shopping and super market.
- Larry (8/5): - Very unique property. Nice to have a pool and restaurant and bar on site. Cabins were clean but there are ants in the bathroom at times. Nothing to serious. Staff were very friendly and all the excursions they offer for a HUGE discount was worth it. Definitely do the $75 package.
- 534sremt (8/5): - Very unique stay. Similar to glamping, pretty outdoorsy feel, rooms more similar to “cabin” feel. Super thin walls and ceiling. Our window in the bathroom wouldn’t close so was hot. Air conditioning worked fine. Property is beautiful, swimming pool bat restaurant hot tubs and river access all bonuses!!
Best meal we had in Costa Rica!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Older, more rustic property. Amazing hot springs with gorgeous canyon and river. We only stayed one night, but there were many local activities that looked interesting if we had more time. Food and staff were very good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a one stop shop. You can do so many things there.
You can relax by the pool, in the hot springs or go rock climbing, zip lining, horseback riding and more
- Jim (8/5): - Very pleasant place, great pool. Just a bit past it's prime, but an attractive place to stay and something of a barhain
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great experace. You will enjoy your stay. Two thumbs up,
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bill - Location is fine. The facility is too simple to stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Activities location and great food,
Most of all staff very friendly
- Nancy (10/5): So much fun here! - So much fun. The people who work here are so very nice and the grounds are gorgeous. We stayed here and wound up buying the combo activity package which included a horseback ride through the lodge's ranch, zip lining, rappelling and climbing, and tubing or rafting (we did the rafting. Plus lunch! Great deal. Room includes breakfast and use of hot and regular pools, which are very pretty. Monkeys in the trees. Would be great for families. Oh, and very convenient, just minutes from Liberia and near the Rincon de la Viaja park.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good deal on activities; you can do horseback, zipline, tubing or rafting, rappel, and lunch for $75! But my kids simply wanted to play at the pool. We ate every meal there and were satisfied. The nachos are excellent, so are the piña coladas! My favourite place to stay near Rincon. It was my 3rd or 4th time! The rooms are basic, but if you need anything, the staff is very professional.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This lodge was great for relaxation, enjoyed the nature.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room had a very strong and unpleasant odour. The room was clean enough and I did appreciate all the eco-conscious messages.
- Traveler (10/5): - Outstanding service by entire staff: reception, cleaners, guides for the activities. Food was excellent too. They made it possible for two grandparents (one disabled) and a third grader to enjoy swimming, a mud bath in the spa, river rafting (so exciting, but very safe) and horseback riding. We chose it because it was close to the airport. Wish we had stayed longer.
- RAGHAV NANDHAN (2/5): Bad bad cheap hotel - No lights, rooms were dirty. The rooms do not have phones to reception. No TV In the room. Criminal waste of money. The restaurant is expensive and there is no quality. I feel my money is wasted staying here. One of the useless hotels I have stayed in. Bathrooms are pathetic. Do not stay here please.
- Alejandro (8/5): Good location and great amenities - The hotel's locations is great, its fairly clean, and the amenities are great. The restaurant could be a little better but its not bad. You have to ask for pool towels at the front desk, since they dont tell you that while doing check-in. No phones in the rooms either.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel rooms are very spacious and surrounded by nature. Only two things that affect my rating are the slim pillows and the flimsy curtains, specially because there is a powerful light bulb installed right outside that is not filtered at all by thecurtains. The breakfast is really good but the lunch/dinner is regular. Most of the staff is really friendly and helpful. I would take a few stars off from some management decisions that end up affecting the overall experience but i would still recommend the hotel.
- Steve (10/5): Family Trip - Great place to stay---good food---good bar---reasonable prices---lots to do on site and in area
Would definitely stay there again and recommend to friends
- Terry (8/5): Canon de La Vieja Lodge - Nice location , ability to experience zip line, rafting without traveling into central Costa Rica. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not a luxury stay but rooms had a/c and was clean. Massage Spa on site.
- Vincent (10/5): Great place to relax and also adventure - Stay at this place! Good price. Super friendly staff that speak English well. Great pool and also hot springs right on the river. Great food, including the free breakfast. Swim up bar was perfect with a fun bartender. Little cabin room was nice, besides hearing your neighbor sort of easily. Cool zipline right there and option for a pass to hike near an active volcano with a knowledgeable guide.
- Andrew (6/5): Relaxing hotel away from everything - Our focus for our last day in Costa Rica was just to relax, do next to nothing, and enjoy a serene atmosphere. For that, this hotel was wonderful. The food was really good and fairly inexpensive as hotels go, and the staff were all very friendly. I can't rate any of the activities that they put on because we didn't engage in any of them. We did head over to the spa, and it was in a beautiful setting, clean, but the water was only moderately lukewarm compared to other aqua termales we had visited. There was also an odd mix up in a drink order, which was done at the restaurant, but came up during checkout, I certainly don't mind paying for my drink, but it probably should have just been charged with the restaurant bill.
- Glen (10/5): Gem in the Canon - Great find. Village atmosphere to the property. The tubing trip was great. Rasta and Nacho were super guides. The food was good and the drinks were cold. Cute cabinas and fun pool. Next time we'll stay more than one night and partake in more of the amenities.
