- Kit (9/5): Truly dog friendly - a bit of a hidden gem - Friendly welcome from staff and patrons. Lostwithiel is an untouristy (in the off season at least) but interesting town. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very nice. The Royal Oak is truly dog friendly with no charge. A great place to stop on our way down into Cornwall. Lostwithiel feels a bit run down and the entrance to the Royal Oak car park is cramped. We were a bit anxious when we arrived but the welcome and the comfortable room soon reassured us.
- Christine (9/5): Stayed at the Royal Oak as a base for walking. The breakfasts were fab and the staff were winderful. Dog friendly. - Dog friendly
- Linda (3/5): Won’t stay again - We had booked two nights The food wasn’t that good.
Karaoke that evening and our room was over it. We were not told on booking that this would be happening. It was loud and very noisy till after midnight. We checked out the next morning Noisy.
- Phil (9/5): Easy going - Welcoming and friendly
- Clare (10/5): -
- Brian (6/5): Food and staff were very good, probably wouldn't stay there again - Staff and food Didn't know they had live music, so loud, after a long drive, needed rest. Shame it spoilt a pleasant stay.
- Terry (7/5): -
- Travel57162911653 (10/5): A relaxing stay - Good food ,nice clean and comfy rooms ,big beds and quiet , breakfast amazing poached eggs and evening meal was delicious.
- tim (9/5): - The staff where excellent, as was the food , the breakfast was amazing
The room was well laid out with plenty of room to move about The only down side was a couple of loose accessories in the en-suite

- paularI9505YW (10/5): Christmas meal out - Came here for our walking group's Christmas meal. Wow, what a delight. The room where we were seated was beautifully decorated and the table was dressed for the occasion. 16 of us so they'd pushed tables together to make one long banquet style table. And what a banquet it was. We had all pre ordered our food beforehand to help the kitchen so everything came out piping hot and flawlessly. The staff were attentive, friendly and polite throughout. We all left felling full, not just full tummies but full of festive cheer.
- jre111y (10/5): Cracking good food. - Fabulous christmass meal for our walking group we found the venue warm and inviting food excellent and good value.in the mortal word of terminator (I will be back).
- Nick (9/5): We had a very nice short break away at the Royal Oak Inn whilst visiting the annual Dickensian Christmas Market. The hos - Easy to find, good parking and great location for the town centre and surrounding attractions.
- A3481IAlouist (10/5): Happy with a slightly quirky Inn. - My wife and I stayed overnight. This is an old building which the owners have turned into an attractive, slightly quirky destination. The staff and owners are welcoming and give personalized attention. As soon as we checked in, we had to duck out for a lecture elsewhere in historic Lostwithiel. The staff cheerfully laid on excellent sandwiches for us on our late return. An excellent breakfast was served by one of the owners. We were sorry that we had missed the evening meal. I feel this would be an excellent base during the summer holiday season.
- James (9/5): Lively social scene here, winter or summer. - Free to park car here and walk anywhere in town. Very convenient.
Live music at weekends.
Large Cornish portions of food! Slightly chilly in bedroom on one day when temperatures were zero and snow overnight, but not a big problem!
- Helen (10/5): All excellent. - Wonderful breakfast, and enough to keep you going all day . No need for lunch. Bedroom as expected as we had stayed in same room a few years ago. Bed exceptionally comfortable. Staff very pleasant and helpful. We liked everything.
- Mr White true Blue (10/5): Proper Job - Loved the place, made to feel very welcome. Proper Job The way booking.com took deposit from a totally unknown company which appeared on my debit card thinking i had been scammed and causing unneeded worry and time investigating. Landlord was very reassuring but any deposit paid should clearly state. DEPOSIT FOR THE HOTEL YOU ARE STAYING IN. Not some unknown name taking money from your account. HOTEL GETS 5 STARS. booking .com .1 star.
- Brett (10/5): Great last minute booking - Staff very friendly. Lovely room
- Donna (10/5): We will be back - Really lovely and comfortable

- Ogier (10/5): Idéal pour une étape entre Polperro et Fowey - Le personnel extrêmement sympathique
L’ambiance « pub anglais » chaleureuse
Excellents et copieux petit déjeuner et dîner
Chambre spacieuse
Idéalement situé pour visiter Polperro, Fowey et les lost gardens of Heligan Rien
- Janet (9/5): Nice to be able to take our dog - Near to our friends who live in Loswithial Creeking floorboards
- ENRICA (6/5): - Room, bathroom, dinner and breakfast. We parked our car in front the hotel, (reserved place for guests). Some weeks after, we receveid a fine because we didn't enter our car registration number when checking in. At the reception desk nobody asked us about our car or provided any information on the parking spaces. We wrote to the hotel asking to have the fine deleted, but they didn't help us.
- Mike (8/5): Nice friendly pub - Bed was comfortable, room was clear. Food was great.
- Tore (9/5): -
- Eleanor (8/5): Lovely little town close to lovely places - Great little pub close to everything and very friendly staff Nothing

- Brown (8/5): Lovely place. Nice staff and wholesome food. - It was a really nice place to stay. Food was lovely and our rooms really nice. The only gripe i had was that the toilet seat was broken and it could have been a little cleaner.
- fionalX3564TV (8/5): Good pub for food - We didn't stay here but had a couple of meals which I have to say were excellent. The Oak has a lovely outdoor seating area and friendly atmosphere.
My review is about a member of staff who was very nice and chatty at the Oak.
But we overheard her in another local pub badmouthing the hotel that we were staying in. The comment that was made was to another guest whom I knew was staying at our hotel, it was regarding "their cooked breakfast".
Now we had no issues whatsoever at our hotel BUT I find that hearing what she said was awful, surely all local businesses should be supporting each other now matter what they serve you for breakfast and whether they serve alcohol or not.
Needless to say we did not return to the Oak for another meal.
Maybe if the management of the Oak reads this they should advise their staff to be very wary of what/who they discuss and should keep their personal opinions to themselves
- Bernadette (8/5): Very good - Breakfast and dinner were both very good here. The room was clean and comfortable with a modern and well-designed en-suite. Staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. A very pleasant stay overall.
- Tj (8/5): Very good - Nice room
Good food & generous portions
Good location Loud music which went on until 10.45pm which could be heard from our room!
- rosella361 (10/5): What can I say, if the opportunity arises again, we’ll definitely stay there again. - Fantastic stay!!!!
We stayed I night and had a beautiful big room. Shower was great, large tv, the bed was very comfortable.
The staff were very friendly and chatty and as for the meal we had was fantastic. I had pan fried salmon with dwarf beans and capers, mashed potatoes and it was delicious.
My husband had big Steak and Stilton pie, peas and mash potatoes, and enjoyed every bite too.
The breakfast was again delicious, it consisted of fresh produce Haddock and poached eggs. Pot of tea .
We shall definitely recommend this place to anyone because it was very enjoyable couldn’t fault it.
If I could give the 10 stars I would have done. Thank you Leanne not forgetting Graham for the lovely cooked Haddock and if I remember rightly Lauren who was great serving with a smile always. Xxx
- Beverly (8/5): Ok great food - bed small and uncomfy - Good food in evening, lovely choice for breakfast and quality and owners lovely. Managed to get parked on grounds for free and lovely flowery garden to sit in Bed very very small and room very very hot even with window open/fan on. Bathroom ceiling mouldy. Bedding and pillows feather, very scratchy quills and zip on duvet and bed uncomfy, didnt sleep well

- Keith (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (8/5): - Overall great value accommodation in a lovely Town & great friendly pub.
Decor a little tired in places.
I was in room 6 & just a bit disappointed with the lack of shower gels/shampoo, ‘loose wallpaper’ & the shower itself was very temperamental-with a too hot or too cold control.
( I should have mentioned this on departure but didn’t)
Food was good & overall charming & with bits of tweaking would be even better.
- Nickie (8/5): Very good -
- Raewyn (8/5): Good location & good value - A traditional pub with rooms above, good location in a small town. We had a large room so was spacious & comfortable. Breakfast was good. The bar was noisy till after 11 pm
- N677KCtonyt (10/5): Great pub/restaurant - Fantastic food, great service, friendly atmosphere with staff and customers happy to chat. A warm welcome each time we visited. - Annabelle (7/5): Good -
- Julian (9/5): A perfect location to visit this part of Cornwall - Very friendly staff when we arrived and when we ate there in the evening. A well-placed beer garden to catch the evening sun. A very good breakfast. Comfy beds. Even the extra bed that we asked to be added to our room looked comfortable. Nothing
- Irene (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and welcoming, location lovely, will be back.
- Kerry (7/5): Lovely and comfortable and staff were all lovely. Breakfast was also fab. - It was unique and tucked away with a community feel and not like a the chains of hotels It was quite noisy at night. There was live music until 11.30 and our room was right above. Not a complaint really though it’s a pub so events etc would be expected. But after a long day we just wanted to chill out in our room, but had to turn the tv up to try and drown out the noise.
- Jan (7/5): The staff were lovely, the food in the bar could have been better , - The staff were amazing the breakfast was great . We had our dog with us, I thought the room could have been better, and when I saw the room our friends had, I thought our room was poor ( and possibly a room allocated for people with a dog), not able to reach the switch for the bedside lights, lots of leads in one corner of the room, mould on the sealant in the bathroom, room not
really large enough for us and our dog, I did mention when booking that I hoped the room would be large enough,
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good - Excellant breakfast
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional -
