- Fran (10/5): - It was a perfect stay and the guy who served us breakfast was so lovely Nothing
- Bruno (7/5): - Das Parkieren auf dem öffentlichen Parkplatz war teuer und umständlich
- richard (10/5): - Attentive friendly staff
- steven (8/5): Overall a nice pub with lovely staff and breakfast - Lovely staff , breakfast included , Oswald location Pub was a lively pub with music and a younger clientele .
We was warned that the shower dripped which wasn’t a problem but when we tried to use the shower we could only get cold water out . Also had a noisy couple talking till 4am in the morning which kept my partner and other guests awake ( I know this is of no fault of the pub )
- Marta (8/5): -
- Marion (4/5): Noisy and forgotten - Staff were nice, bed quite comfy but pillows thick and hard as rock, good job I brought my own! 4 days stay b&b only had one visit in the room by staff on second day. Other days bed not made, no milk for tea. On Sunday menu said 7.30 breakfast no staff, place was empty and lights off so we went for a meal deal somewhere else. Shower heavy drip.
Very noisy with music particularly Fridays with live music. No free parking.
- Nick (10/5): -
- Michael (8/5): -

- Nina (8/5): -
- Heather (8/5): - Lovely staff & great food
Great location Definitely no early night in this accommodation as over the pub so can be a bit noisy until late
- Lauren (8/5): -
- Roy (10/5): A Night Away - Atmosphere clean very helpful nothing was a problem and dog friendly There is nothing we didn't like great staff Isaac went above and beyond
- king (4/5): Need to provide clear instruction and directions on how to enter hotel at night - Comfortable bed, spacious and quiet room, lovely pub downstairs, good location.
Deputy manager very helpful and attentive. No instructions on how to re-enter hotel when main pub entrance closed. Almost ended up sleeping on friends floor.
Wooden floor throughout bedroom made room lack a feeling of comfort. Tiny shower and bathroom was difficult to move around.
- john (10/5): Excellent all round… will be back soon !! - Everything Nothing
- Donna (7/5): - no aircon
- Rudduck (8/5): Very relaxing weekend with the wife - Lovely room , staff were lovely, shout out to Issac, breakfast was also very nice , If I could be picky , Windows could of done with a clean (outside) to make the view even more pleasant, not marking down on this also , just constructive criticism
- Lester (10/5): - Bed comfortable in a good sized room, breakfast lovely, tea was very tasty
- Stephen (8/5): - Room was large . Nice shower room with plenty of hot water. Staff were very polite and friendly, overall ambience was very good. Breakfast, included in the price, was excellent. Everyone was friendly towards our dog. Couple of chairs in the roon would be nice. We were forewarned about a music night but it was extremely loud. Fortunately it was a good band. Our room was directly over the outdoor smoking area and people's conversations could be heard plainly.
- Mark (8/5): good break but not inspiring. - Staff were lovely, breakfast very mediocre, bread just cheap sliced.
- Ana Carolina (8/5): - I spent two nights there and would go back. Nice staff, really lovely breakfast, pretty good amenities. It is close to the bus stop. I wish the shower was a bit hotter, since it got really cold at night. We got there at night and the lights were off, so it was a bit difficult to locate the entrance. Once we found the other one, it was fine.
- Danny (9/5): -
- Luke Binstead (6/5): Great location, shame about the finishing touches. - Great location, very easy check-in check-out process. Staff were friendly in the small interactions we had with them Took an age for there to be any hot water in the shower, sink was blocked (drained extremely slowly) the water tank on the coffee machine was covered in mold and a small bug bare of mine, old water left in the kettle. Also no bottled water in the room.
- Heide (9/5): Super helpful staff. Fabulous breakfast. And well and truly dog-friendly! Our dog received her very own breakfast sausag - Very central. And for a December visit, it was spectacularly decorated for the festive season. Very cosy. A great selection of coffee and tea in the room. Dressing gowns in the room if needed.
- Bill (4/5): Great - Clean room, flexible staff. Foid lixation.
- Joan (10/5): - Loved the whole feel of the place
- Charlotte (10/5): -
- Dawn (10/5): Warm, welcoming place. Great atmosphere and lovely staff - Beautifully decorated
- Jane (4/5): -
- Paul Hammond (9/5): I would recommend this hotel - Every thing was excellent friendly staff good breakfast with a good choice right in the middle of the high street would stay again nice and clean little hotel Nothing
- Richard (9/5): -
- Shaun (5/5): No sleep. - Very clean and lovely room and bathroom The bedroom was situated right on top of a loud speaker in the pub and music came straight through the floor until midnight.
Fish and chips used frozen fish. Chips were v good
- Daniel (10/5): Excellent, we’ve already booked to stay again. - Nice, little place to stay and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was amazing! Only that we couldn’t stay any longer.
- Pamela (9/5): We loved how dog friendly it was. The room was warm and comfortable. Food good. - Room, breakfast, staff The tv had no remote! Staff were very helpful but by the time we had one, we had missed our programme and it was time for dinner.
- Steve (9/5): A lovely relaxed stay. Quality evening meal - Breakfast excellent. Can’t fault anything.
- RYAN (9/5): Great staff, good value fantastic breakfast - Great staff, clean modern room and an excellent breakfast - extra parking charge
- Penelope (8/5): - The staff were helpful and dog friendly. Food was good. Steep external stairs to reach the bedroom.
- Clive (8/5): -

- jansjewels (9/5): - Hotel is on maldon high street. It has comfortable well appointed rooms. The staff were warm and friendly. The rooms are above a busy pub restaurant. We enjoyed a good evening meal in the restaurant in the evening and a tasty breakfast the next morning. The young man serving us for both meals was friendly, helpful and attentive. All the staff were friendly and helpful even though very busy at times. Saturday evening there was a little noise in our room from the music playing in the bar but this stopped just before midnight so didn't bother us. I would say the shower was quite basic and not very powerful. Everything else was fine.
- Harriot (10/5): Gem in the heart of the high street! - Great quality facilities, fluffy towels, lovely dressing gowns - this stay thoroughly exceeded our expectations! Superbly located right in the high-street - really enjoyed our stay!
- Toni (10/5): A brilliant small hotel in Maldon High Street - Hotel was fab, great location for what we needed. All the staff we're brilliant and the owner was about and great too. Breakfast was really good and served fresh each day. 10/10 nothing
- AdrianPaul (8/5): White Horse Maldon 5th Oct 25. - Very Friendly Competent Staff. Amazing, fresh cooked breakfast options. Lovely Pub interior decor. We were expecting the pub to be open on our arrival. There was no hint on Booking.com write-up that it might not be. It was very disconcerting that it was closed and in darkness. Also the fact it was a pub was the major factor in us booking there. Hoping for a pint and a comfy chair in the pub after our 6hr drive and checking in.
- Janet (8/5): Exactly what we expected. - Loved the food, the staff and the bar. Minor issues with plumbing.
- boreham (10/5): little gem - all was lovely for our stay. very clean comfortable. excellent service breakfast and made very welcome car park charge.
- MICHELLE (10/5): Will definitely be back! - Friendly staff, great bar, room immaculate. Fantastic breakfast. Great value for money and great location
- Darrell (7/5): - Great location, very friendly staff. Not disabled friendly. It's my own fault for not doing more research. Breakfast smashed avo with poached egg was served in a deep bowl, it looks good but not practical to eat out of, we had to ask for a plate to transfer the food onto.
The room is a bit noisy.. My own fault did not realise that the room is part of a pub.
- Lucy (7/5): Lovely old pub but overpriced - Good location. Nice breakfast. Bit noisy. Not over clean. Bit over priced.
- Neale (10/5): -
- Richard (9/5): Comfortable stay in central location. - Excellent staff. Large double room with sitting area. Great food! Central location. Not the fault of the hotel but car parking a short distance away and had to pay extra.
- Jo (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Great stay in the centre of town. - Great location in centre of town. Very friendly staff and fabulous breakfast. We stayed on a Friday night and they had music in the bar and this provided great entertainment and there was a good "vibe" in the place. There is no parking at the Inn, but there are Council run Car Parks easily accessible from the back door so it didn't prove to be much of a problem.
- Colin (9/5): Perfect evening & overnight. - Location, traditional feel & values. Great staff, excellent food and drinks. Breakfast was much better than the norm. Can’t think of anything
- Richard (10/5): Great location right on the high-street, very reasonably priced and breakfast great too. -
- Lorna (10/5): - Staff were wonderful! Donna and Maisie could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Room was great, loved the coffee machine, breakfast choice excellent and quick service.
- Matthew (7/5): -
- Emily (9/5): Great for a short stay and nice breakfast - Perfect size room with comfy beds The shower was very stiff and leaked a little bit
- Janine (8/5): Comfortable stay in dog friendly pub - Really friendly staff and room was lovely and bright and comfortable. Good facilities in the room . Room and bathroom were clean with quality bedding We stayed in a Sunday night and they stop serving food at 7 and the menu was also limited which we weren’t made aware of ahead of time - we found somewhere else locally . The building was also closed at about 9.30 which meant a long walk to access the property at the back which again we weren’t told that they closed early and as we had our senior arthritic dog to consider this would have been good to know
- Sheridan (10/5): Lovely friendly staff, great atmosphere, great room. - Very friendly staff, clean and spacious room and excellent breakfast. Also genuinely dog friendly
Would definitely come back again. Nothing - I thought it was great
- Simone (10/5): Solo Traveller - Staff were very helpful and welcoming 😊
As a female solo traveller, I felt safe staying here with my dog.
Evening meal was Amazing, Breakfast was Amazing. Ruby got a sausage so that got paws up from her.
Didn't feel rushed
Carpark was a great location and felt safe to leave the car there as it does get monitored.
Staff were great at making me feel less anxious about the carpark.
Great location to the harbour also brilliant location for catching the bus etc with lots of shops and cafes around. The only disadvantage would be the heat however I knew before going that the heat would be an issue also having to pay for the car park.
Although having the Ringo parking App did help a little recommendation would be to pay
for the whole day as it's free from 10 pm-8 am 😀
- Reinhold (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (7/5): - The staff were very friendly & helpful. Spacious room The facilities are a little faded
- Lynda (6/5): Visit to Essex - Staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom needs a refit.
Expensive to park in town carpark
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Harriette (9/5): Superb -
- Nicki (9/5): A great find in a perfect location - wonderful stay! - Fantastic location, great staff, wonderful breakfast!
- Portia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charles (7/5): Ok for a break in a journey - Centrally located near public car park. Friendly staff. Food was rather ordinary. Room facing high Street was rather noisy. Air con u it would have been better than the small fan provided.
- Molly (10/5): I can’t wait to come back. - The property was very clean, the staff were so friendly and helpful. It was perfect location! I just couldn’t be more happy with my stay here!! Nothing
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Vicki (7/5): Mostly good - Central position Needed a shelf in the bathroom
- Mark (9/5): Highly recommend! Very comfortable and pleasant, quality establishment. Friendly, helpful staff. - Comfortable welcoming atmosphere in the bar, a very friendly place. Staff are helpful, attentive and accommodating. Only (slight) issue was the the shower in my room was cold in the morning.
- Graham (9/5): Very nice pub good atmosphere lovely food really good for a weekend away - Everything especially the salt marsh chips Room was on the main road and Saturday night was very noisy with people after midnight, no fault of the hotel. The only thing is that the room wasn’t serviced as standard
- Doug (10/5): Great break, White Horse good choice, excellent area - Friendly staff, quant setting, lovely meals No air con but hey! How often do you need it!
- Abigail (9/5): An extremely comfortable stay in attractively styled room that was well appointed and that welcomed dogs - Extremely well appointed and attractively styled room. Our dog was welcomed and supplied with thoughtful touches for a stress free stay. The comprehensive vanity pack was a great addition. Despite the pub being busy the room was very quiet. Nothing, the breakfast was served in a sister property over the road, this was not a problem. The breakfast choices were adequate. Sometimes parking was not available immediately outside but alternative options were available a short walk away. The property provided a parking disc which was helpful.
- Jim (8/5): Have stayed before so new what to expect and was not disappointed. Good location in centre of Maldon - Friendly hosts, comfy bed and great breakfast. Maldon is a lovely old town, really enjoyed my morning stroll down the high street to the quay with traditional barges and super riverside park. Be aware that parking in large public car park at rear of property is convenient but payment is by day, however, there is a long term car park a little further down the high street.
- Simon (10/5): Chic, boojee, friendly, decent place to play, great breakfast, great staff, recommended ! - The room as with the whole of the property are just lush, not sure if it’s a boojee look or whatever the word it’s cosy and the decor is top notch, the pub and the rooms have the same vibe. Good facilities, spotlessly clean, helpful staff and a top breakfast. It’s a recommended as a good place to stay ! Some of the pub noise until 11pm, but then that’s also comforting, we’re not over the hill yet ! If we hadn’t of been so knackered and soaking wet from attending a concert we’d of been down there enjoying it ! Just bare the noise in mind on nights where music plays, it’s an old building or … Go down and join in :)
- Christopher (9/5): Very nice experience all round in a lovely town. Breakfast included was good quality. - Great location, lovely room, nice staff, lovely breakfast.
- Angela (10/5): A very comfortable place to visit and stay. - Great location for the event we were going to on the promenade so was with in walking distance and right on the high street for all amenities. Enjoyed the relaxing vibe the pub had in the day time and enjoyed the yummy food. Had fish cakes, calamari and meat feast as our lunch and dinner so will filled up with some good pub grub with a lovely presentation by the chef. Night time there was a band on and it was lovely to hear people when we got back around 10.30pm having a sing along and having a good time. The band stopped approximately 11-11.15pm. Breakfast was even better. Full English breakfast which was included with the over night stay. Staff were fantastic couldn’t do any more for you. Very helpful. And chirpy with some chat not at all miserable looking. It was a night out we don’t get to do very often being parents so it was a real treat. Thank you. The only two things that stood out for me, was the mould in the shower on the grout a bit of bleach or rerouting when they could would make a difference to the cleanliness of the shower. And the second being that the property does not have parking so you have to find alternate parking. We managed this fine but if I was not familiar with the area or not very fit. I would of found this hard to do as we had to park the car unload bags then take them up stairs. Then get to the car and park it elsewhere. But like I mentioned we can and did manage just fine, having the advantage of knowing the area a little.
- Debbie (9/5): What a nice pub in an interesting town ! Recommended . . - Comfy bed. Lovely breakfast included No parking
- James (10/5): Perfect for work and would definitely stay again - Central location, nice bar and evening menu, great breakfast and very friendly and helpful team
- Claudia (10/5): Lovely stay above a lovely pub - Comfy beds, spotlessly clean, nice room and amazing breakfast included too! Really good central location as well! Staff were also all really nice, we spoke to a few different people and they were all extremely kind, hospitable and welcoming! Not a complaint but just advice to bring earplugs if you’re sensitive to noise as it is in the town centre - Maldon seems generally nice and quiet anyway though :)
- Peter (10/5): Very friendly staff, good bedding and huge breakfast. - General feel of the place was good, clean and welcoming Having to pay for parking albeit only a 2 minute walk away
- Ursula (8/5): The staff were extremely helpful. - I fell on the way in, The staff response was excellent - they could not have done more. For me it was difficult that there was no lift.
- Aikaterini (9/5): Superb - The room was cozy and surprisingly quiet given it's above a pub. Centrally located with easy access to restaurants, bars and stores. The staff was so, so accommodating and friendly - and the communication ahead of arrival prompt and easy. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was a nice touch - very generous servings. The shower was a bit narrow but we managed!
- Kate (10/5): Great location, good food, comfy room - Comfy room in a great location with fantastic food in the pub. The only parking available was a pay and display car park
- Lucy (6/5): Pleasant stay for what we needed. However would only be back if improvements were made. - Staff were amazing. Breakfast great. Bed Comfy. The shower needs to be fixed, the door was a struggle. The room could be cleaner, dog hairs, finger prints on tv, coffee stains on table and bedside tables. With the floor wish I knew no carpet before hand so I could have slippers. Cleaning. Shower.
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Anne (9/5): Superb - Isaac the Assistant manager could not have been more attentive to our needs.
Breakfast was excellent.
- Sandra (9/5): Lovely cosy hotel - The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a very good breakfast with plenty of choice. We also had a lovely meal in the evening. The ambience of the hotel is cosy and welcoming.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
