Guest Reviews
- Tilo (10/5): Empfehlenswert!
- John (10/5): Quiet in County Galway - The lodge is quiet!!! Our room was immaculate, the bed was very comfortable and the view of the lake from our room and the lounge was wonderful. Many thanks to our hosts, Connie and Donal, who were amazing. Breakfast was the perfect start to exploring the area. We spent time on the Aran Islands and in the fishing mecca of Oughterard. Donal and Connie know the area well and offered spot on advice and insights. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you Connie and Donal!!!
- Heather (8/5): - This was a beautiful location overlooking the largest lake in Ireland. Very quiet, but kind of in the middle of no where. I wasn't expecting it to be so far off the beaten path, but probably should have. If you want to be away from the city, this is the place to be. We even enjoyed watching a herd of cows being corraled down the street. The breakfast was delicious. I had french toast and my daughters said the eggs were the best they had on the whole 12 day trip. Donal and Connie were very nice hosts and gave us good direction on activities to do and avoid. The room was very clean with a nice view of the lake. I would stay here again.
- Maryjane (10/5): Perfect start to a dream vacation - It was amazing the view was so beautiful. It was quiet, clean and very relaxing. Our hosts Connie and Donal were so considerate and were very accommodating and breakfast was fabulous. It was rural but such beautiful scenery. I would definitely recommend a stay at Nonaim
- Daniel (8/5): Relaxing after a long day touring. - Off the beaten path B&B that is close to the Lake with a super host(s)! My lake hike was great!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super lodge
Bien placé au bord du lac
Très accueillants
- Kathleen (10/5): Welcoming and great value - We were made to feel extremely welcome. It's a lovely place with wonderful hosts.
- Daniel (10/5): - Amazing B&B. Very roomy, beautiful secluded lake view. Host went out of his way to help plan day trips and find great local restaurants.
- Andrew H (10/5): Lovely place, beautiful location - It was great. A very warm welcome, a huge and very comfortable room and wonderful views over Lough Corrib. Very good communication and advice from the owners and a tasty breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.
- Older couple (8/5): For a quiet break - Our hosts were excellent. Very informative and helpful. The atmosphere was relaxing and there was no hurry for breakfast which was always freshly made to your own requirements. Breakfast was excellent. A bit off the beaten track but a good base for a good night's rest. Nearest small town is Oughterard which has good restaurant, bars and shops.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very short, but pleasant stay - Lovely house (the triple room was quite large and comfortable) and very helpful and nice hosts. It was just one night, but a great experience.
- Anna (10/5): Peace and quiet - Stayed for a short visit. B&B was in a quiet, serene location. Beautiful place with very welcoming owners. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Friendly, helpful couple - Bit outdated, but clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was great and the owners are very friendly and eager to help
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Sehr schöne Lage, ruhig, ziemlich abgelegen. Sehr hilfsbereit und nützliche Insidertipps bekommen. Würde sofort wieder gehen.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for a relaxing stay - From arriving at the Nonaim lodge we were made to feel very welcome and offered tea and biscuits which was much appreciated . The views are breath taking and the owners took their time to make sure we got the most out of our short stay . Our stay was excellent and we were so lucky to discover such a beautiful place would recommend anyone to book as you won't be disappointed .
- Nicole (10/5): Worth The Drive!!! - This lodge is beautiful, it's a bit off of the beaten path (about 11 km) but the view of the lake is completely worth it. The owners are great and very friendly, and the room was spacious and clean.
- E&G (10/5): Meraviglioso!
- Sarah (10/5): Cozy Room & Beautiful View - Don and Connie were great! They were kind to accommodate our late arrival after a long day of travel and due to a cancellation, they offered us our choice of rooms, which allowed us a larger space for our family to relax for a few days -- a triple with ensuite. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains and the main house offered a cozy living room for reading. Both Don and Connie were very knowledgeable about the area and offered directions/information to help outline the remainder of our trip. And let's not forget the delicious breakfast!
- Henry (10/5): Irish Holiday - The host was fantastic. We were shown to our room and given tea and cookies on arrival. He was incredible in giving suggestions for places to walk in the area as well as routes to take for driving to find the best scenery, beaches, attractions, etc. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area and willing to share his knowledge with us. The room was clean and comfortable, and he prepared a wonderful Irish breakfast for us. The B&B is well off the main road but a fantastic location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Galway break. - Very relaxing.
- Lev (10/5): Place to stay - We spend to nights in July in this B&B. I'd recommend it to every one going to this region. Beautiful views, hospitable owners, appetizing breakfast, quite atmosphere.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Proprietario gentille posto splendido colazione ottima.
- patrick (10/5): Hidden Jem - Most enjoyable stay. in this Nonaim paradice.set away in natures unspoilt country side.
- Mark (10/5): Irish tranquility - Stayed for 2 nights in July. Used as a base to explore Connemara. Hosts were lovely, very friendly with great advice on places to visit and dine out. Room had lovely view of Loch. Remote and very quiet. Fantastic.
Closest village of Oughterard (15 min drive) had plenty of places to eat and drink. 'Real' Irish feel to it.
Breakfast was as good as it gets and sets you up for the day.
Apparently the fishing is great however, as I am no angler I can't comment!
Recommended.
- Robin (8/5): Lovely Place, but what a drive! - I probably would not have used the word Lodge as a description of the home, it was a lovely bed and breakfast though. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They do have wifi but it would not work in our room, so we needed to go to the lounge area in order to use it. The Lodge is located in a beautiful area near a lake, but it is a long way down the road, GPS couldn't even find it, ended up going to someone's house to ask directions. If you don't mind the drive, which we didn't once we figured out we weren't lost, than this is a nice place to stay.
- nice (10/5): Nice clean simple quiet scenic - Very Nice, scenic, very nice people, good breakfast, beautiful environment
- Guillaume (8/5): Lovely place for a night or two - Lovely place and neighbourhood in a (very) quiet area near Galway.. We almost got a suite even if only single beds were available. Breakfast was good and our hosts were very nice. Definitely a better value for money than other hotels in the region.
- ClayShadow (10/5): Excellent accomodation - Had an excellent stay. Staff was very pleasant. Made recommendations for a place to have dinner and things to do in the area.
- Mark (10/5): Lodge on the Lake - We arrived late and didn't get to experience the lake walk. We wished we had done that.
- Heinke (10/5): Great Place! - Loved the location. Beautiful views of the lake. The host was very friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again.
- Marta (10/5): Relax - I hope to repeat! In summer, with a lot of books and shoes to walk.Is a perfect place. And the staff is very very kind.
I recommend this B&B all people!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A WONDERFUL stay - fab hosts, amazing location - I would definitely recommend Nonaim Lodge ! The welcome and comfort were amazing - a lovely cosy fire in a room overlooking Lough Corrib and the amazing scenery of the locale. Donal and Connie are lovely hosts - you can tell they love the area and know it inside out. This place is especially made for anyone who enjoys peace, quiet and seclusion and being immersed in nature. It is approx twelve km from Oughterard (which has lvoely pubs and eateries) so be prepared to drive back out to Nonaim Lodge. This is not at all a disadvantage - the drive to the village is gorgeous and it means that you can really enjoy the peace and quiet. The lodge is really well set up in the you can feel completely at home. I believe they also hire boats on the lake. So if you're an angler - this is heaven !
- vickiha (8/5): Gorgeous location - Connie and Donal were very gracious. We were very late arriving and they were welcoming. Room were spotless and beds very comfortable. The surrounding countryside was gorgeous. Wish we had planned to stay longer.
- Bev Beaumont (10/5): Lovely Irish welcome - In a beautiful country location, wonderful for wildlife lovers, my husband saw pine marten the very first morning. We were made so welcome and would recommend this place to anyone. However it was difficult to find with our satnav, Once on Glann Rd (from Oughterard) you need to keep driving approx. 8 miles along the side of the lake. Donal the owner did send us an email explaining the location, but we somehow missed reading this. Still it was so worth the effort when we got there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - perfect location, very nice and useful staff, clean and large rooms and amazing queen-size bad! we will defiantly be back!
- marci (10/5): wonderful! should have stayed longer! - This was one of our best nights! The owners were so very gracious! After our car rental place closed before we got into town, we decided to take the bus from Galway, hoping to get a cab the 11 mies out from the village to the house. Our hosts were wonderful and told us they would meet us in town and recommended a great Pub while we waited. Great food and a nice rest and then the most beautiful setting ģ to relax us after a stressful day! High on a hill overlooking lough çorrib it was bright fresh and clean and the best bed we had all trip! Lovely breakfast and a return trip to get back to the bus just completed the quality service. Thanks for looking after us!
- louisloic (10/5): Fantastic location, great house, friendly hosts - Everything is in the title
- Jim and Betty Keogh (10/5): A haven of rest! - This location is for those who want a specific type of holiday. Ideally located for fishing, walking, or getting away from it all. If that is what you want then we can highly recommend it.
A wonderful trip in an amazing lodge with awesome hosts! 5/5, nothing to add except good things, we will advice everyone this B&B for a Connemara trip
- YankeeTraveler (10/5): Quiet, comfortable, pleasant -- great all around - We were the only ones in the B&B because of other guests' last-minute cancellation. Though not necessarily good news for the proprietors, it was wonderful for us because we had the place to ourselves -- and the absolute quiet and solitude were wonderful. I haven't slept so comfortably in years.
The breakfasts were ample and delicious, and the timing is flexible. There's a lot to do within a 2-hour radius (assuming one has a car), including the Cliffs of Moher, Galway City, trekking in Connemara, ferries to the Aran Islands, etc. Nonaim Lodge is near the end of a 12-km road along a scenic hill-surrounded lake, so it's possible to do some great day hikes without getting in a car (as I did on a couple of days).
One minor downside is that it's necessary to drive at least 15 minutes to the nearest town, Oughterard, for dinner or other meals (excluding breakfast). The drive got a bit relentless by the fourth night of our stay, and there are not a lot of options in the town for dinner. But this is a minor quibble. Nonaim is a fantastic place overall, run by friendly, helpful and thoughtful people.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very comfortable made to feel welcome but not intrusive. Very helpful in suggesting sights and way to go.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We loved Nonaim lodge. Hospitality was 2nd to none. Donal and Connie were more than helpful, filling a flask for us to take with us each morning and giving us advice where to walk. Some amazing views of laugh corrob. I would recommend Nonaim lodge a perfect spot if you want to get away from it all.
- Helen (10/5): Spectacular View - The owners were especially gracious, especially when they let us check in early. Donal was kind enough to ask if we wanted tea and coffee which was great since we started out early in the morning. I would return again in the future.
