Personeel spreekt geen Engels Nederlands Duits (soms zelfs ook geen Papiaments)wat uiteraard al zeer slecht is, slechte communicatie met veel voet en hand gebaren Service is ook zeer slecht eten en drinken duurt ontzettend lang en er staat weinig op de kaart qua variatie , ik zou een ieder die verblijft op Curacao echt andere beachclub(s) en of stranden aanraden omdat het mij echt zonde lijkt om alleen hier te verblijven

• Wanderer19519566811 (10/5): Papagayo Hotel is a gem on Curacao Island - We did our research and decided to spend our 32nd wedding anniversary in Curacao!!! Glad we did!! We had a fantastic time. The Papagayo Beach Hotel was fantastic!! We made reservations through priceline.com. When we arrived, we had a rental car available at the airport and drove the short distance to the Papagayo Hotel. We were greeted by 3 friendly front desk staff. KAYLA took care of us; she went above and beyond for us. She made sure to explain all the amenities to us, escorted us to our lovely room, and surprised us with a bottle of champagne, glasses and a fruit tray to help us celebrate our milestone. Our room overlooked the beach cabanas, the saltwater pool and the Caribbean Sea! KAYLA and the 2 other front desk staff (sorry cannot remember their names during our stay from 4/19/26 to 4/26/26) were most helpful in steering us towards local restaurants serving delicious island foods and various adventures on the island, as we had many pleasant conversations with each of them about life on the island. We appreciated meeting NORMAN, the maintenance man that opened the safe for us, as the safe would not open properly. We appreciated the housekeeping staff who maintained a fresh, clean room for us while there. The Hotel was very clean and safe. The island of Curacao was very safe, as Americans we never felt unsafe there. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Curacao! If you are planning a trip to Curacao, please consider staying at the Papgayo Hotel and tell KAYLA and crew that the Waddy's said Shalom! Until we meet again in Curacao, thank you Papagayo Hotel staff for making our stay most comfortable and memorable. I hope that you all get rewarded for the work you do, you all deserve it!

• patricknc_2018 (4/5): Hard to get the room cleaned up - - The Jan Thiel beach "boardwalk" is very nice and has a good vibe - In Jan Thiel, there is no beach space to put your towel down and relax on the sand. They took every square inch to put lounge chairs -- that it is even hard to walk...they will nickel and dime you to death. - The restaurants where ok but pricey (very). The Papagayo Hotel - It was a nice setup - the super market next to it is a great convenience - The room maintenance/cleaning service SUCKED!!! a lot. - we had to call for: *The safe not being attached to anything.... *The remote missing *AC not remaining at the right temp *They did not clean the room 3 days arguing that they had to clean the rooms for other guests/new check ins and then will clean ours....well it took a few walks to the front desk as we were running out of towels. As a favor to us, they let us stay an extra hour after check out....big deal!
• MsDaisy425 (4/5): So far not so good - We checked in today and unfortunately our experience so far has been disappointing. During check in, we were not informed that a $500 hold was required on our card in order to charge items to the room. We would have happily done this had it been explained to us at the time, but it was never mentioned. Later, after returning from the beach club, we discovered that none of the outlets in the room accommodate American plugs. When I called the front desk to ask if an adapter was available, I was told by Kayla they did not have any. I asked if a note could be made so we could receive one if any became available, since my phone was about to die, but the front desk agent informed me that this could not be done and said we should have read this information on the website. She said all we could do was call again at 7am and see what they could do. The interaction felt dismissive and not in line with the level of hospitality we expected. Small issues can happen anywhere, but how they are handled makes a big difference. Unfortunately, this left us feeling frustrated and not very excited about the rest of our stay.

• Kelly (7/5): - Heerlijk uitzicht, schone kamer. Er was een bruiloft wat niet gecommuniceerd was, strand afgezet eten op de parkeerplaats bij de ah.. en dat voor €400 per nacht. Schoonmaak kwam om 19 uur 's avonds, en ik verbleef op de bovenste verdieping dan had hulp met koffers fijn geweest aangezien er geen lift aanwezig is.

Het is een zeer veilige omgeving vooral voor een vrouw alleen. Bij het hotel zit ook een privé zwembad en stukje strand waar je de zee in kan dit is alleen voor hotel gasten en bedjes zijn bij het hotel inbegrepen. Je hebt ook een groot zwembad. Ook is er een afgesloten parkeergelegenheid voor een huur auto. De riolorering om het gehele resort heen + strand stonk soms ook in de kamer was het een soort grond geur. • muriloc49 (2/5): Extremely disappointed! Beach club closed during entire stay - My experience at Papagayo Beach Hotel just started extremely disappointing. We arrived on Friday for a stay Tuesday and were only informed at check-in that the Beach Club — the hotel’s main highlight and heavily advertised in photos and promotional materials (including the infinity pool) — would be closed for our entire stay. In other words, we had no access to the main resort facilities at any point. What makes this worse is that this was never communicated in advance, neither during booking nor before arrival. This is essential information that clearly impacts a guest’s decision. As an alternative, we were only given access to the hotel’s pool, which was visibly dirty and poorly maintained, far below the standard expected for a property like this. On top of that, no compensation was offered — no upgrade, no discount, no credit, nothing to acknowledge the inconvenience. The staff simply informed us and left it at that. It’s very frustrating to pay for a resort experience and not receive what was advertised. I would not recommend staying here — especially if the pool is an important factor in your decision (as it was for us).
• creativa4 (2/5): BEWARE - Papagayo hotel is a trap. And pray there is not a wedding when you attend. Without notice we lost access to the hotel amenities (pool, restaurants, pool bar, towel stand). We essentially vacationed in a construction zone due to preparation for the wedding. Rehearsals for the wedding entertainment began at 8:30am. If you planned to wake up peacefully on vacation that was out of the question between blaring music for mic check and the constant construction buzzing and banging. The towel stand was closed and we were forced to use the same sandy beach towels for three days. By day three the front desk told us to use our room bathroom towels. The “private pool” that remained open during our stay was dirty and not serviced as the closest bar was off hotel property and on the other side of the construction zone. When they finally sent someone to take drink orders by the pool, we were told “cocktails are not possible. Only beer or wine”. It took her 45mins to return with warm beers and she forgot the bottle opener. This hotel does not care about your comfort. The staff do not care to offer service. In fact they are rude. If you are looking for a peaceful stay, clean rooms and service of any kind this is not the place! The owner should be ashamed to have such little regard for paying guests. Lesson learned!

Upon arrival, we were greeted so well and taken to our stunning oceanview room! All employees were so accommodating and our every need was met promptly. Elenora, the manager was most promptly responsive, if we had any concerns. Our hotel room was stunning with an unbeatable view from our balcony! The food and drinks at the many restaurants on the grounds, provided us with much choice and were delicious! It certainly made my birthday celebration an amazing experience! It’s a very peaceful place that allowed us to recharge! The infinity pool is unbelievable! We spent much time there! We will definitely be back! Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable!

• 393idas (10/5): Nice and quiet hotell with very friendly staff - The hotel is very nice —quiet and peaceful, making it a perfect place to relax. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The outdoor area is beautiful and well maintained, with plenty of space to enjoy the surroundings. There are both chlorinated and saltwater pools, which is a nice option depending on your preference. The hotel also has a small beach area where you can swim and go snorkeling, which adds to the overall experience. They also offer free parking available inside the gated property 🌴🏖️🌊

• EffieF05 (6/5): Everything but the housekeeping - The location was perfect! The property was great and well-maintained. Front desk staff were amazing, especially Eleonora who accommodated a unique request. Beach bar and restaurant were wonderful. My only complaint was with housekeeping. I stayed 9 nights. My room was not cleaned twice - each time, I complained and the staff assured me it would be addressed. My sheets were changed after the third day, which is totally fine, but stained sheets were placed on the bed. I asked housekeeping to change them and they did. Glasses were only cleaned once. I had to go to buy dish liquid to wash them myself. Coffee pods were never replaced - I got them from the front desk. Garbage was not taken out at least once when they had clearly been in to "clean". Given that this property was otherwise great, my experience with housekeeping was a disaster.

• stevejX5130OG (10/5): We had a great 2 weeks - We booked an oceanfront room and I thought the sun set towards the left or right of it. It didn't, it was front and center of the spacious 8x20' balcony, just a spectacular view morning and night. All the staff was very nice. My only complaints are the cobblestone walkway just a little tough rolling luggage on or walking barefoot, however a nice look, no ice machine at units its either frt. desk or bar its a bit of a walk for ice. And the hotel restaurant menu wasn't very diverse but what was offered was delicious. Lastly most guests seemed of Dutch descent and if you don't smoke you're not Dutch. I don't smoke, its a dirty disgusting habit, came home and went on the patch LOL. Summary= We had a great time at the resort and in the beautiful country of Curacao, the weather was great the whole 2 weeks, at Cas Abou Beach, never in my life did I swim in water as blue.
• K6206ZYdiannem (6/5): Lovely Birthday Stay with Room for Improvement - The location and atmosphere were exactly what I wanted for my birthday celebration. I was pleasantly surprised to find cake and Prosecco in my room upon arrival. Additionally, some balloons would have been a nice festive touch in the room; it doesn’t have to be elaborate, but it would have added to the celebration for a very low cost. The room itself was neat and clean; however, there were a few areas that could be improved. The air vent in the bathroom had a lot of dust and cobwebs hanging from it. Additionally, the headboard of the bed was scratched, and the table by the sofa was broken, so I had to be careful when moving it closer. Part of the curtain that opens to the patio was also outside the railing. I wanted to sleep in on Monday, but the gardeners were blowing leaves and talking right outside my patio door, which disturbed my rest a bit. The breakfast buffet was pleasant—the food was average, but the mimosa bar was a big hit for me, and the price is very reasonable. While we enjoyed the tranquility by the pool, I would suggest adding more shade around the private pool. It got really hot at some point, and you can barely find shade in the afternoon. Overall, though, I had a very relaxing stay and am grateful for the experience.

We would especially like to thank Bergelie and the manager, Eleonora, who went above and beyond to assist us. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made all the difference for us. We used the gym, which is very well equipped, and the infinity pool is absolutely beautiful. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was also very good. Overall, a wonderful stay with a team that truly cares about their guests.

Curacao is also beautiful and totally worth the trip. • Trek34879854490 (10/5): Recommended - We had an ocean front room…quiet, well appointed room with private deck. Listening to the ocean waves and watching the sunsets was priceless. As others mentioned, the room needs more lighting. The outdoor walkways could also use more light at night. It was nice to see a wide age range of guests: couples with young children, three generation families, singles, couples, retired folk. Staff at front desk were very helpful and cordial. Numerous restaurants nearby made finding vegetarian food easy
• amelialF5366QY (4/5): Not worth the money - This hotel was probably nice 20 years ago but has not been updated since. The walls in our room were dirty, the cups in the room were dirty and had unknown substance on them and the couch/curtains were stained. The view from the room was beautiful with the exception of a dead bird outside our porch that was there our entire stay. The staff were rude and seemed put out when we asked questions or checked in. The hotel said they had a shuttle to the airport but when we asked to book it were told they didn't have one despite a van with the hotel logo being in the parking lot not 100 feet away. The wifi didn't work very well even in the room. The bottom sheet on the bed was only a top sheet and wouldn't stay on the bed. The air conditioner fan was broken and made a constant noise when it was running. Overall, this hotel was not worth the money we paid, even with a black Friday discount. We are quite disappointed.
• gemund (10/5): Paradise - Our 5th year was as enjoyable as the previous years. Great location. Warm and helpful staff. In particular, Barderly did a great job in caring for (small) wounds I got from the sharp claws of a lizzard which came out of nowhere attracted by a piece of my banana! Also thanks to Hector and other staff. We look forward of returning next year!

Mardely was very helpful with my stay, when speaking to her before I arrived and after I finally got there. Overall great experience and friendly staff. The only thing I would’ve liked is a welcome beverage and I didn’t like having to carry my own luggage to the room.

I have met many guest relations reps on my trips but no one matched Mardely’s energy, enthusiasm, passion, and devotion to Papagayo and its customers! All the staff were so kind, helpful, and with an unwavering smile. Shoutout also to Hector and Kayla. It was a bit too crowded, particularly too many families with children BUT that’s only because it’s a great place! But I feel like the pool and beach access are a bit small for the number of guests (unless you go to one of the other bars in Jan Thiel.) I would have liked my stay to be slightly less expensive but it was well worth it!

Gelukkig wel een prive zwembad maar daar zitten in het hoogseizoen ook mensen die niet in het papagayo verblijven….
• Mireille (5/5): Really nice place & location. The only thing is that money was stolen from my room - Nice private pool & bar I was on a solo trip. When I returned to my room, it had been cleaned but some of my money was missing. I immediately went to the front desk and a female manager spoke defensieve and showed no empathy which made me feel sad, but I had to stand up for myself and speak to prove I wasn’t lying. After a few days of investigation, I received my money back, but just imagine missing money after cleaners went in your room and the manager doesnt believe you( Just be open and show empathy until the investigation is done). But other than that I would reccomend. learned a lesson to use the safe.

Value: excellent value for money The social areas such as the amazing sea view infinity pool is beautiful! Staff: super friendly, helpful and always with a smile! • Wander61011188641 (4/5): not happy at all - I was genuinely shocked. There was no sandy beach, but I could have figured that out before arriving by looking at the various photos on the web. We had room 527, facing the sea, with a persistent smell of toilet on the room's terrace. We reported it to the reception, but nothing happened. We had to make the bed every day, as the covers were not the right size for the mattress. The breakfast was not of good quality (certainly not for a 5-star hotel; let's say it was acceptable for a 3-star hotel). There were iguanas in the pool doing their business next to the deck chairs, and no one checked regularly. Sometimes they stayed there for hours. Most of the deck chairs have broken mechanisms that support the backrest. We pointed this out to the reception, but nothing was done about it. always at the swimming pool, which is anyway a quiet place, compared to the rest of sea front, we suggest to improve shadows, because after midday you have to lay in the sun constantly. There were many small things that are certainly not indicative of a 5-star hotel. We will not be returning to this place. LionsDive, for example, where we have already stayed, is much better.

• S6238IHstaceyb (10/5): 9/10 and already planning our return! - We had the most wonderful week at Papagayo Beach Hotel! The staff were very friendly and welcoming, but patience and kindness goes a long way! We also tipped well. Our ocean front room (523) could not be beat. Recommend going down by 9 am if you want to find a beach chair or reserving a cabana in advance for $80. The private pool is a huge plus to ensure you are always able to find a spot as it can get crowded during high season. Very family friendly but fun for couples too. Most visitors are Dutch (Netherlands) or English. My massage at the spa was 11/10. Ask for Brian. Take a day trip to Kokomo Beach Club and see the flamingos on the way. Snorkeling was amazing. Lots of great diving too. Reserve Kome for dinner and be sure to check out Villa Vis for the most amazing local sushi and seafood. Agave has amazing margs and birria tacos. The tuna poke bowl at Zest Beach Club is wonderful. We loved having a supermarket within 2 minutes as well for morning smoothies, pasteshi, homemade chips, pastries, etc. We loved Saint Tropez too for sushi Monday. Tintos sunset was great. So many amazing options! My only recommendation would be to invest in better pillows. Definitely rent a car. We cannot wait to return.

• X3017YNandr_p (10/5): Great service, great time - Excellent choice for those planning to spend a couple of weeks in Curaçao. The hotel is very nice, and the staff was extremely friendly (special thanks to Hector and Odette). Guests can use the beach club free of charge, which is very convenient and comfortable. The room was spacious and spotless, although the pillows could be improved. The hotel is located in Jan Thiel, which is quite far from some of the island’s most popular beaches (around one hour to Cas Abao, Porto Mari, or Daaibooi) and about 30 minutes from Punda/Otrobanda. For this reason, Papagayo is a great option if you’re staying more than 10 days and don’t want to drive every day. If your goal is simply to relax by the sea rather than explore extensively, it’s an excellent choice.

Then the day of arrival at the resort. Mrs Odette checked us in with such an amability and give us all the info we needed to know of the resort. Then during our stay till the day that we had to check out Mrs Rougenka with her carismatic went extra mile with what wask her and also gived us the last info we needed to know. Last i would also like to compliment The Breakfast Crew who give us the treatment of a lifetime. Master boso ta cu boso dulcura amabilidad carisma y funheid. Wauw Papagayo Family you guys did it😍🤗 I Heartly recommend it.

I requested that our sheets be changed on our second night because we got bite up terribly during the night and while the Front Desk put the request in on the computer, I noticed it was never done because the same stain was on my sheets from day one. The sheets themselves were clean mind you but you can tell there was a stain on the sheet that the washing machine was not able to remove. That same stain was there my entire trip. Additionally, if you’re looking for beachfront property, it’s really not it because the Infiniti pool backs up to the beach and you have to walk down several restaurants to physically access the beach and then chairs are not included because it is not their property The place is not equipped for anyone with mobility issues. There is no elevator and our room was on the third floor. You also have to walk up a slight incline to get to the buildings that accommodate the rooms On a positive note, the place is relatively quiet and secluded. There are numerous options for Dining & the front desk, staff was helpful. The room itself was very nice and big. I just wish that housekeeping attended to the room on a daily basis. The on-site dive shop was the highlight of the trip. They did an amazing job taking us out on two dives.

Zimmer ist grosszügig, schöne Aussicht aufs meer, alles sauber, Kaffee und Tee stehen zur Verfügung, Kühlschrank ist sehr geräumig, super schöne Strände sind wenige Schritte entfernt, Miete von Liegestühle oder Cabanas möglich, gute Lage mit Busverbindung nach Willemstad, Car Rental in der Nähe, mittelgrosser Lebensmittel-Einkaufsladen in wenigen Schritten erreichbar. Durch fehlende Türbremsen in allen Hotelzimmern schlagen diese Türen sehr laut zu.

From the moment we arrived until we left, we were very well received by the hotel staff. Furthermore, the staff left a little something for us because of our wedding, which we loved. The only drawback was the private event, which took away some of the charm of the beach due to the noise from setting up the stage and reducing the beach area. However, this inconvenience was insignificant compared to the charm of the place. Congratulations, and I hope to return soon with my family.

• Traveler49223774827 (8/5): Good location - PAPAGAYU “HOTEL” CURACAO Ocean front --1st time in Curacao, USA, age 70 very active, formerly in the hospitality industry, 7-night stay-Saturday to Saturday November 1-8, 2025 --Front desk & check-in, very good 95% of the time. If you need ice for room; you need to go to the front desk. Hector L. was especially helpful. --The Beach Club, where the restaurants & bars & beach are, are open to the public including the lounges & cabana’s --1st transport to room, help not offered but if you ask; they will help if they are not too busy? I was told that at check-out. No elevators which I was aware in advance. They point out directions to room without a map layout. --The room (554 building #7) was very nice with great view (top floor) but already needs updating & “minor” repairs from their 2013 opening i.e.: Adjustable lighting, Espresso/coffee machine slowly leaked despite that I told them about every day for 7 days in a row., larger pillows, add microwave, hooks to hang things. However, there are plenty of cabinets and shelving but the large drawers need adjusting, so they don’t bang into each other, paint or replace lightly rusting dry rack on balcony which stained my diving shirt, add clock for room. --Pool and beach, Apparently the chain scuba & watersports facility wasn’t open until Thursday for unknown reasons. I brought my own gear. The “private” pool was fresh water and only open to guests. But I did meet 2 family’s that weren’t even staying at the resort or hotel! Security is weak. Poorly trained personal & rarely seen supervisor’s is obviously at fault. Likely caused by under staffing. The beach is man made with a rock/boulder retaining wall so there is no direct walk into the ocean. You are issued a free pass to the very near Jan Thiel Beach but you must walk through other beach properties to use it or go up to the road & walk or drive (chairs/towels not included). --Food/bars, depends on how busy they are. When they are slow the staff seem lackadaisical unless supervision walks by which makes the staff instantly transforms to attention lol. Some of the service staff are very personable, well trained and seem to really like their jobs. Well others seem clueless when you request something. Food is typical for the region. I can only recommend the breakfast buffet because mostly fresh products are used. --THE BEST THINGS WE DID!- We rented a “compact car”, with a trunk, at the airport. Went out for lunch & dinner most days while traveling to awesome beach’s, snorkeling, swimming, relaxing. West end KNIP has incredibly BLUE waters! Swaying Bridge area was beautiful & colorful. Fly fished with Michael for Tarpon & Bonefish. Visited art galleries. Had enjoyable conversations with the locals and learned from the Dutch tourists the best places & things to do. We will go back but likely split our stay with the West end.

Beach club is beautifull only needs more cleaning ( the sand if full of cigarettes and the side tables needs cleaning when guests leaves. The beach towels are difficult to manage since you have one card to switch for 1 towel ONLY. so we had to set alarms to remember to change towels before they close or they dont have more fresh towels left.

A praia também é muito boa A reserva feita pelo booking não é cobrada pela plataforma, o que pode dificultar um pouco, já que a cobrança é feita pelo hotel e precisa de cartão físico. Na ocasião, eu havia feito a reserva pela plataforma utilizando um cartão que tenho apenas virtual e precisei alterar a forma de pagamento no momento do checking.

• Luis (6/5): - I arrived September 17 stayed 8 nights nice receptionist very informative and easy to check in , property beach front access with a private pool also the one day before I left I noticed a little hidden beach access by the private pool , also nice ocean beach pool with a great bar and beach club they do nice drinks and spectacular sunsets , also there is a small supermarket just beside the hotel premises where I could get and adapter for my iPhone since it’s only European connections in the room plus they have a variety of drinks fruits snacks etc, hotel has its own restaurant papagayo beach club breakfast were great dinner only once was average , also they are several restaurants among of them I tried Zanzibar was ok , tintos was good also there is a shopping plaza where there was a great smoothie and snacks shop also saw a casino but did not go and a bar where they play music on Thursdays nights tried to go Friday but was closed also several restaurants near by of course you gotta drive among of them brisa do mar which was excellent if you into seafood , now about my room I just choose a patio view but upon arriving no privacy saw cars parked in front of my room never used the patio anyways but room is too dark one of the lights above the bed was out I called in said someone will check never got them fixed while over there , sometimes I felt a drop of water on my face was from the ac unit not great , the cleaning average they can do better
