- Meghan (10/5): We had the most lovely of time at Kihei Kai. The propery worked perfectly for our stay. My inlaws came as well and we we - The property was perfect for our family! The condo worked perfectly for our family of 4 (2 adults and 1 and 5 year old). The pool was steps away from our front door. The beach was just a few more steps from that! We used the bbq which was lovely to have access too. We also used the laundry as lots of sandy wet clothes! It was nice to have the option to do it right on site. The side of the property that was close to the beach had some damage from flooding from earlier in the year but it didn’t stop us from having the most wonderful time.
- Tanya (7/5): - Fully equipped kitchen making self catering easy with a nice Bakery a short walk away. The unit is comfortable clean and tidy but dated. Air conditioner in bedroom and refrigerator backing into the bedroom wardrobe were noisy at night.

- Kathy (9/5): Enjoyable - Hosts were great! Loved the shared frig for guests arriving and leaving. Poor building is needing repair from flash flood.
- Ben (7/5): The property is using misleading photos for the property which has significant damage - The condos were nice and were comfortable, however sound insulation was not good, heard upstairs neighbours, the road nearby, and the chickens. The property is still advertising their beachfront on the pictures, which is dishonest because a significant portion of the beachfront was entirely washed away by a storm at the end of January, partially collapsing the front of the building and taking away any space to lounge on the beachfront. We paid a high price to have a nice space to be able to relax in front of the ocean, but this space is now a small area with tables and surrounded by construction fencing. We were not notified at all about the damage, (we booked in December) they offered us a night off to compensate. Anyone booking should beware the fact that the photos of the front of the property ARE NOT CORRECT and is a MISREPRESENTATION of the property. Since we felt this was hidden from us for the sake of keeping our higher value booking as is, it left us with a bad taste for what was otherwise a fine stay. We will not be staying with this property again.

Beautiful view, great Courtyard right at beach with grills, tables, and chairs. Great staff, very accommodating with our large group. Unit 10 AC took 2 days to cool room off and bathroom was always hot. The sliding glass door to the Lanai was extremely hard to open and shut and so loud the guests below us could hear it. Furniture was old and dated, pull out sleeper very uncomfortable. There was no dishwasher like most units had, and a really small bathroom sink counter and tiny cabinet. Hard for 3 people to use for a week. Pool broken for first 4 days.

Carrying our luggage up the stairs was rather difficult but manageable. The office was closed most of the time during open hours. Never found the community fridge but I know it’s there (loved the idea of it!). Our room was rather dated, but still extremely comfortable and homey.

- Greg (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the beach front location, the newly remodeled interior, the included beach equipment (chairs, towels, etc) and ease of check in/check out. The pull out sofas were not particularly comfortable, we were missing a top sheet for the sofa bed linens, and the office had very limited hours. There were two issues that could have been corrected earlier in our stay but we couldn't communicate them directly to the office until the end of our stay.

We were in a downstairs condo but had no issues with noise from the condo above us. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Very good value for money. Not the hotel's fault, given the climate, but we had an issue with cockroaches in our bathroom and kitchen. Management kindly gave us some traps but opening up a drawer to roaches wasn't the most fun experience!

Unit stairs need cleaning along with general site/landscape cleanup. Unit stairs need maintenance with protruding nails/screws.

The condo we stayed in needs a deep cleaning! Bathroom was dirty! Upholstery needs cleaning. Whoever cleans this particular condo needs to be replaced! We were able to see the other condos at this location and they were much nicer. Must vary from one condo to another.

Check in and check out well organized. The apartment is not super new, is clean but it could be cleaner, aspecially the bathroom.

- Stuart (10/5): Nice, quiet and well maintained condo. - Fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and a lovely location. Swimming pool is good for lounging around in and if you are a swimmer then you have the ocean at the end of the garden. The condos are two storey, and we were in a lower condo, so were a bit concerned that family above us might be noisy - but never heard them once. Location is also great - there is an ABC store about a two minute walk away (for your morning coffee or essentials), or it is a quick drive to a Safeway or Times Supermarket, along with usual strip malls etc. Oceanarium is a 5 minute drive away, as is the harbour where a lot of the snorkling / fishing tours set off from. Office for the condos is open from 9am weekdays if you do encounter any problems. We only needed to contact them once and they were very nice, especially considered that we were asking a really dumb question! They kept us informed as there was some minor maintenance taking place on one day of our stay. Not sure I can think of anything.

- Elaine (8/5): Unit #4 - Fabulous location! Convenient to the beach and easy drives to many other places on Maui. Comfortable bed and temperature control. Having a laundry area right outside my door also a plus! Could have used some sprucing up - rust stains in tub, hard to open screen door, marks on walls and baseboards, kitchen faucet leaked if not forcefully turned off. Also, some instructions on operating the dishwasher would be helpful. Tub was very slippery until I finally discovered the tub mat under the sink. (My own fault for not looking! 😞)

- William (5/5): Great location, tired facility, less than adequate service. - Aloho! Access to the beach was great as was the beach facing lawn area. The smaller sense of community of visitors/residents feels more like home. This was not our first stay at Kihai Kai and we were truly looking forward to returning to a welcoming and comfortable setting. Overall our visit to the island was happy and we look forward to our next! The Unit was dirty inside and out. We spent a few hours cleaning before settling in. Some areas like the bedroom dysfunctional window blinds, window sill and closet we simply avoided. The unit felt neglected and tired. The lighting was not easy to work with. The pullout bed mattress was thin, old, discolored and lumpy. The kitchen knives were limited, dangerously and uselessly dull. There was a timer on the main room AC unit that made it necessary to get up in the middle of each night to reset. Otherwise the unit was stuffy and hot. The ancient bedroom AC unit stopped working on our first sleepless night. A mediocre temporary unit was installed to tide us over the next day. Though the new unit was underpowered and poorly installed though we felt grateful for their attention and to glad to have something. Highway and street noise late at night and early in the morning even with the AC on in the bedroom. The porch sunshade, which was vital to keep the place from overheating in the afternoons, broke on the second afternoon. Since that happened after the office closed on a Friday it was not attended to until later the next week. From then on we put our focus was away from Kihai Kai, ignoring any inconveniences to revel in the wonder and glory of being in Maui. Mahalo! At the airport, we realized that we forgot to pack something dear leaving it on the bed. We contacted the property manager that same day with a detailed description and asking that it be discovered. We also offered to pay for any cost of shipping it to us. The next day a text reply said initial response saying they would look for it. Numerous additional texts calls and emails sent the next day and over subsequent weeks later went unanswered. Each time we contacted the office at Kihai Kai we left a detailed message requesting a call back. We still have heard nothing. We have waited almost four weeks to hear from them hoping to leave a more favorable review. Alas!
- Lauren (9/5): The proximity to the beach was fantastic, home from home! - The most amazing location! Right on a stunning beach with amazing snorkelling. We also did a lot of paddleboarding. Sunset on the grass by the beach right in front of the condo every night! The unit had everything you could possibly need, large wardrobe, kitchen was well equipped, comfortable seating area and balcony. Hard to beat the furniture on the balcony was really quite dirty and you didn't feel you could sit there without giving it a really good clean first. Balcony was a bit cluttered with stuff so wasn't quite the relaxing place it could have been. Quite a distance from all the restaurants and bar, this didn't bother us too much but a consideration if you want to eat out in the evenings.

- Athecia (6/5): Pros and Cons but we're in Maui! - The location was great. We were literally a 15 second walk to the beach. We had our own little beachfront area dedicated to our condo complex. Keyless entry was also great. We didn't have to worry about the key to the room. We had a washer and dryer on site which was helpful. The bed was super comfortable. Lani had a partial view to the beach. The actual condo was super dated (80s). The entire condo needed updating. The furnishings in the living room weren't too bad. They were comfortable and pleasant on the eye. The fan in the living room was broken. The TV picture and audio went out so we couldn't listen to music or watch TV in the living room in the evening. And it took a couple of days to get it fixed.

If you wipe them wIth a towellet , they are not clean. They charge high cleaning fee for the 500 sf apartment. We had to move all the bulky furnitures to the patio to make room for the sofa bed. I smelled kitchen odor in the bedroom, then found out the kitchen ventilation and microwave oven are actually installed in the badroom closet.

It was nice to walk to a few small shops. And it was short drive to a big grocery store and lots of good restaurants. We liked sitting on the patio too. Glad there was air conditioning! It was a comfortable place to stay and quiet too!! We loved Maui and Kihei! It’s a bit shabby looking and needs redecorating, maybe new bath and kitchen. The tv is very small! The pool is very small so if you have kids who like to swim,this may not be a good choice
