• Lisa (10/5): Magnificent Maria Villa B&B! - They say Lierna is for travelers not tourists how true! From the very beginning we loved B&B in Maria villa! The home itself is a beautiful, stately manor. we were treated extremely well. We loved our room which looks over the lake especially the huge wooden sliding door that lets air in, but keep out bugs and sun sometimes when you don’t want it. The hosts and his family were wonderful. It’s such a reasonable place to stay and it’s like visiting old friends! It’s nice because you just come and go as you please and some time to see the hosts and his daughters or their lovely boxer, Zeus, but it’s not a big deal. The veranda is vast. And there’s a room beside you which is on the same veranda but it doesn’t matter it’s so huge you feel like you’re royalty! Looking over Lake Como every day it’s just magical! The shower I had a huge rain shower head and it was quite comfortable. We like the room because it stayed quiet And cool even during the hot midday sun. The fabulous host gave us great recommendations. One of them was a IL CROTTO-a restaurant, which is just a six or seven minute walk away. It was excellent! We ate there every night for six nights in a row, and it was an experience as far as dining in addition to the exquisite food. Wonderful stay can’t wait to come back!
• Danielle (4/5): - The property is a lovely old house with a great view of the lake however, the property needed some upkeep (without loosing the character of course) and cleaning in my opinion (spiderwebs in the bedroom isnt really acceptable). The bathroom however was lovely and had clearly just been updated. The location also wasnt great as you have to drive into verenna to get the ferry. There is limited dining around the area and limited ferries from the area (they all return around 6pm which is too early). Whilst the location isnt something the hotel can change if course, i feel its important to mention as the previous reviews make it seem as though its easy to get around without a car. Further, dont be confused by the breakfast part of BnB; there was no breakfast offered.

It is such a beautiful property, well mantained, super clean and perfectly located walking distance to the ferry that goes to Bellagio and all the other incredible Villas in the area. The view from the balcony is impressive and peaceful. The Host Marco was very attentive and respectful. He recommended one of the best restaurants we tried in our trip. The property has parking which is very important since Bellagio is so popular that we try to do it with the car first and we could not find a parking spot so we leave but because stay later at Villa Maria we were able to go back to Bellagio and Villa Balbianelo (which by the way it was a Paradise) using the ferry which is literally like 10 mins walk super easy. We can recommend this place to all the people looking for a great experience at Lake Como.

It could be me, but the only thing I did not like was seeing the owner and his family including small children around at all times. I have stayed at other properties of this type where there is boundaries between the guests’ common areas and the owners’
• Angela (10/5): - Marco was great. We arrived a little late and he was quite accommodating. Our navigation and e-mail wasn't available while we were driving and we got a little lost and came late. He even accommodated our unexpected guest at no extra charge. Great breakfast with many homemade goods. Great view from the balcony but it is shared among the other rooms. Plenty of parking but up a steep curvy driveway and you really need to cut the corners closely. On the main street so it can be a little noisy. Walking distance to restaurants. My only complaint is that the bed was too hard.

Clean bathroom and lot of storage.Decent room size and good wifi strenth, excellent service from owner. Helped patiently with plan and helped to book cab to Varenna Negatives: Not so much. If you are coming with luggage's via public transport, you have to climb up the hill a bit to reach hotel.The owner might offer a ride, so you can make use of it. only downside is the bedding which seems dated and was making lot of squeaky noise. Not too many boat stops at Lierna.

• Glyn (10/5): Perfect for visiting the area. - Thought I only stayed for one night while visiting family in the local area, Marco and Mira were the perfect hosts. I had a suite over looking the rear garden which was so peaceful and quiet, I think the bed was possibly the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in. The complimentary toiletries were a nice touch too. The property is set back from the main road through Lierna, and accessed by a long sweeping driveway or a set of stone pedestrian steps which wind up through trees and shrubs. The lake is stones throw and the views from the lounge and breakfast room are stunning. Though Lierna is a small village, the property is very convenient and gives easy access to the local bakers, ferry stop, promenade and train station. While this is a family house complete with two small children and a very friendly boxer dog, I was made to feel most welcome by the family. Over breakfast, where nothing was too much trouble, the owner and I chatted about the history of the area and this unique property, which was fascinating. I just wish I could have stayed for more than one night, but now I know I’ve found a little gem, I will definitely be back when soon.

• Harties (10/5): Romatisches B&B - Romatisches eingerichtetes Bed and Breakfast. Liegt in Bequemer Laufnähe von 5 Minuten von Lierna Zentrum entfernt an einer sehr schönen Stelle am See. Lierna bietet einiges inclusive leckeren Restaurants (z.B. Il Croto) und ist touristisch nicht überlaufen; incl. Fährenstation. Gastgeber sehr nett, freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Marco is an excellent host who provided tons of information about the area and recommendations for things to do. The view from the lakeside room was jaw-dropping! The breakfast spread was impressive and delicious! The property was private and gorgeous! If I am ever lucky enough to return to Lake Como, I will absolutely remember this B&B and stay again.
• sandra (10/5): Paradise on Lake Como - Beautiful setting, large garden with great lake views,Huge bedroom and the bathroom was bigger tthan some hotel rooms a large sitting room overlooking the lake, breakfast on the terrace. The villa is a short stroll to the ferry wharf, restaurants and a good laundry. Marco and Mira were perfect hosts and thanks Marco for the dinning and shopping recommendations in Milan they were both great.Exceptional stay, so clean we had 2 nights but could have stayed a week. We will hopefully return

• Dan (10/5): Very nice relaxing gettaway with a great welcome - Very nice location with a great view over the lake. Quiet area with just the ocational train passing by. Very nicely decorated room in oldfashioned style with modern comfertabilities. Small playground outside perfect for our two year old son. Breakfast was very nice but the best is that it is served in a big room with an amazing view over the lake. Just a 2 minute walk to the small center with a few restaurants to pick from.

The views from the terrace and breakfast was amazing, dont really want to get up from your chair. Parking - plenty of space, Wi-fi - ok, breakfast - nice, location - ideal, views - amazing, price/quality - very good.

• C. (10/5): Extraordinary & familiar B&B with 60ies touch - Welcoming hosts, who offered a rich & local, individual breakfast with fresh fruits and more. Excellent! The house is located in al little park with lots of green around and view on the lake. The rooms corresponded to the pictures. We enjoyed our stay in this extraordinary B&B, emphasized by the special architecture structures.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Piękne jezioro COMO - Właśnie wróciliśmy z Villa Maria B&B w miasteczku Lierna. Nasze uczucia są mieszane. Mieliśmy dwa pokoje od strony jeziora. Mocne strony to: - bardzo mili właściciele, - wspaniała zabytkowa willa w ładnym ogrodzie, - wspaniały widok z tarasu - śniadania podawane w ogrodzie z cudownym widokiem na jezioro, - bezproblemowe miejsca parkingowe. Do słabych stron obiektu należy: - słabe wyposażenie pokoi (przy temperaturze +35C brak klimatyzacji był szczególnie uciążliwy. Spanie przy otwartych oknach uniemożliwiał hałas dochodzący z drogi oraz komary), - duży hałas dochodzący z drogi, która biegnie poniżej (szczególnie rano i wieczorem do 23 ) - łazienka jednego z pokoi zlokalizowane jest poza nim. W opisie na niektórych stronach rezerwacyjnych jest to niezbyt dokładnie opisane. Warto zwrócić na to uwagę przy rezerwacji. Właściciele tłumaczą powyższe fakty brakiem zgody konserwatora zabytków na przeprowadzenie zmian. Każdy musi sam zdecydować czy chce mieszkać we wspaniałej zabytkowej willi bez wygód czy też nie. Miłośnikom TV odradzam bo w pokoje również nie posiadają takiego sprzętu. Jest w salonie na dole, który jest do dyspozycji gości. Sama Lierna to niewielka miejscowość z dwoma restauracjami. My jedliśmy w barze przy plaży miejskiej Polecam. Konieczna rezerwacja. Prom do Bellagio odpływa o 11.12. Ostatni z powrotem o 18.05.

• Gediminas (10/5): Quiet and cozy place. - We enjoyed staying in Villa Maria B&B very much. Maria and Marco are vert pleasant and friendly hosts. They gave us all needed info about area. The house is close to the city center, ferry, supermarket, railway station and etc. Nice and private inner yard / garden. And of course perfect home made yogurt in breakfast time! (thanks Marco) We strongly recommend Villa Maria B&B. I'm sure we come bach there one day. :)
• Günter (10/5): - Eine Villa im Bauhaus-Stil, erbaut in den 50ern als Sommerhaus. Großes Grundstück mit altem Baumbestand. Räume sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Man fühlt sich in die Mitte des letzten Jahrhunderts zurückversetzt. Eine Terrasse im 1.OG mit Blick über den See, auf der man gern den Sonnenuntergang genießt und sehr nette Gastgeber. Etwas für Freunde der Architektur.
• Bob (10/5): Nice villa with a beautiful view. - We stayed for 5 nights and toured Lake Como by boats (ferries) and accessing more frequest boats from Varenna by nearby train. Our room was spacious with fabulous view of the lake. Marco was great host knowledgeable about local travel attractions. He prepared opulent breakfasts every morning. The main road in Lierna travels just below the villa and was a little noisy especially on weekends when motorcycles come out. Not too bad at night. There are beautiful grounds and plentiful free parking. We hated to leave when our stay was over.

Den som drev hotellet var ättling till den som uppfört den ursprungliga byggnaden och han berättade om byggnadens historia, vilket gav ett mervärde. En övernattning här kan klart rekommenderas!

Sitting in a lovely garden, in the sunshine, overlooking Bellagio and Lake Como being served delicious food and planning the day's trips was just an excellent start to the day. Tips- get a room with a balcony. There are more ferries to and from Lierna at the week-ends.

• Morgan (10/5): Underbart ställe - Ett underbart B&B i ett hus från 40-talet. Värdarna Maria och Marco var väldigt vänliga och gjorde allt för att vi skulle få en så trevlig upplevelse som möjligt. Underbar miljö, otrolig utsikt över Como-sjön och total avkoppling. Familjens hund Zorro var nog Italiens snällaste och bidrog till den lugna stämningen. Rekommenderar verkligen detta B&B!
• Amanda (10/5): Serene lake oasis - Villa Maria was AMAZING! The hospitality, the beauty, and the breakfast were all top notch. I've stayed in many B&B's and this one is by far my favorite. Only a short walk to the train station and the ferry boat to get around the lake. Perfect to visit the more crowded villages around the lake and come home to serenity.

• Henry (10/5): A peaceful and comfortable place with breath. lake - Villa Maria is in an idyllic location with spectacular views of the lake. Our accommodations were comfortable and the breakfast buffet provided an ample selection of items from which to choose. Marco and Mira, our hosts, were quite helpful and spot on with restaurant recommendations. They also very kindly provided my wife with a floral arrangement of beautiful red roses for our 40th wedding anniversary. The highest recommendation I can give is that we would happily stay at Villa Maria again when we return to Italy. Mira is pregnant with twins and we'd like to say hello to the bambinos and to Zorro, the villas very friendly dog. The only negative I can conjure up is that the entrance is not well marked. We drove by the first time but this is a minor issue.

• Mikael (10/5): Best B&B - Probably the best B&B in Lake Como. The owners Marco and Mira was extremely helpfull and welcoming into their beautiful home. Location was only 10 minutes walk from the station. There you could go to a lot of beautiful villages. The rooms were beautiful decorated and the most of them with a fantastic seawiev. But the best of all were the owners Marco and Mira. We allreday miss them. • Verified traveler (10/5): A great place to stay. - We just got home after a one week stay at Marco and Mira's great B&B. The views are spectacular. They are located only a 10 minute drive from beautiful Varenna with great restaurants and ferries that give you access to all of Lake Como. There is a nice small beach a half a mile away but it is rocky and water shoes are a must. There is no problem parking even if the B&B is full. We stayed in the large room which had more than enough room for the two of us plus our 8 year old son. We had a very nice view of the lake with a large shared balcony off the bedroom and a smaller private balcony off the bathroom. The bathroom is also large and modern. Breakfast, weather permitting, is served in the garden. There is no better way then to start your day enjoying a nice breakfast with the wonderful view. Breakfast was set up before we were up and it included fresh bread, juices, coffee and croissants. They always made sure our son had his favorite every day. Eggs were also available upon request. The beds are made and the rooms cleaned daily. While we were never uncomfortable at night with the windows open, air conditioning would be a plus. There is also some road noise in the morning but it did not wake us. The best asset that this B&B has is Marco and Mira. They are successful in creating a homelike environment where you feel welcome. Marco & Mira provide a wealth of information on restaurants and things to do. We were never disappointed with their suggestions.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Walls of Glass! - We were looking to stay in Ravenna, but didn't plan enough in advance and were priced-out of the affordable options, so we decided to check out Lierna and chose this B&B. We are glad we did. We really liked this family-run operation and friendly owners. We especially loved the glass walls of the common area and the massive shared terrace -- both affording wonderful views. We only stayed one night (just passing thru the lake region, not vacationing there) and enjoyed wandering around quaint Lierna for the evening. We would definitely stay again if we found ourselves passing thru the east side of Lake Como again.
• Iva (10/5): Villa with "Genius Loci" - This B&B was absolutelly super-ouverture for our trip to Lago Como. Such a charming villa with beautifull garden, amazing view to the lake! It has a style. Marco and his wife are carefull and ready for any advise, absolutelly proffesional. We bought from Marco a bottle of wine typical from Valteline for our evening at the terrase and enjoyed the view. The breakfast in the garden was tasty. We love also the dog Zorro. There was a little bit early morning noise from the street down, but this can happen at any other place here. I would recommand this place to anybody, who loves to feel "Genius Loci".
• The Jacks (10/5): "Beautiful house and garden, lovely hosts" - Had a lovely stay at villa Maria ,the house and gardens overlooked the lake ,and we we're fortunate to have some lovely weather so had our breakfast in the garden most days of our five night stay the breakfast was delicious .I think if you are staying here it would be better to have a car ,as we didn't and had to plan are activities around a train journey to Varenna ,to catch the ferrys which took you to the various villages around the lake Marco and Maya were very attentive host ,and made us feel very welcome in their home ,it was nice to be greeted in the morning by the dog Rocco ,thanks for a memorable stay ,
• Lisamarie (10/5): peaceful and welcoming - My mother and I were just wrapping up a busy family reunion week-long trip in Italy and spent our last 2 days/nights at Villa Maria B&B in Lierna, on Lake Como. Marco and Mira were lovely gracious hosts, and are very proud and caring owners of this unique Bauhaus-style stately family home, which is perched on the lower mountainside surrounded by shady gardens and breathtaking views of the lake and mountains. We truly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful quiet retreat. It's close enough to the bustling touristy hubs on Como, but does not have that touristy feel. Ample parking is available on the premises and was a key factor in choosing this villa.
• John (10/5): Lake front Como Villa - This is not a Hotel....it is a B&B overlooking Lake Como. The house was a real gem, and the owner, Marco was a warm and inviting host. Marco made us feel as if his home were our home. You'll be amazed at the lakefront room. If you book here, a call to the owner, as you're driving into town, will make finding the driveway much easier, as the street that the house is on, is segmented, and his gate will need to be open for you to find it.

• Luanne Hills (10/5): Perfect location to access all of Lake Como area - Our room was lovely and the bathroom was newly refinished/updated. Marco prepared a delicious breakfast for us out on the patio overlooking Lake Como. We hope we can return one day….
• Baz and Nath (10/5): Hidden Gem!! - Absolutely fantastic stay. We had the suite for the night which had amazing views of the lake. based in a quite location away from the mainstream towns. This place and its hosts really impressed us. They were very professional and personable and their dog Zorro is the star of the show. Will definitely be back, next time for a little longer!!
• Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice Italian villa. - This is one of the best B&B we stayed so far. Marco and his wife are very nice hosts. Breakfast was very good and the room was very clean. From the terrace, while you drink your morning coffee, you can have a magnificent view of the lake. Their garden is a little paradise. This beautifully maintained villa was full of antique furniture and decorations which gave the B&B special character different from staying in a hotel. The personal attention and service from the owner Marcos made our stay very comfortable. The breakfast presentation in the downstairs sun room looking out to Lake Come with a view of the snow capped mountains was spectacular.

This B&B covered all that and also offered a beautiful view of Lake Como. • Sheila & Peter (10/5): B & B & Beautiful - What a wonderful B & B! This is a beautiful villa in a beautiful location with 2 of the kindest and most interesting hosts we have met. The house itself is a Bauhaus style house set amid lush gardens on a hillside above Lake Como. The house has been lovingly maintained and contains an eclectic mixture of furnishings and art from the late 1800s through the Art Nouveau period to mid-century modern, all lovingly maintained and displayed. The views are spectacular from every level of the house either through the glass walls or the patios and balconies. Spectacular views. Lierna itself is a small and un-touristy town close to Varenna, ferries and trains, and the bustle of tourism. Personally, we much prefer the off-the-beaten path places with quiet and beauty and Villa Maria B & B has this. Most importantly, the owners Marco and Mira are so very warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. We had many great conversations with them and they are what we will remember most fondly about our stay. Ah... and Zorro, the canine host, too! E bella, bellisima!
