Guest Reviews
- Matthew (1/5): - Nothing got food poisoning Monday night No hot water was told to run tap longer hot was not like Australia so I did still cold and turn water off at night to late in day witch was great from food poisoning not been able to flush toilet was hands.
Then they come make your bed everyday I dont mind but if your not going to clean the sheets then there really no point coming in to do that.
- Frederick (10/5): A class 100% - Everything was well done and the resturant food was wonderful I just wish they’d Concrete the entrance from the road to the gate at the beginning of the project
- Ricky (8/5): -
- Deb (8/5): -
- Tamika (7/5): - Mellia was amazing in sorting out some issues we had when drivers didnt turn up to pick us up! Bed were hard and pillows thin
- Ian (4/5): - it was available and clean food was poorly cooked, most options were not available and took too long to come.
Was told that more visitors will come next week so we will have more options for food.
- benoit (8/5): -
- Ryan (6/5): Great spot needs some care - Food very ordinary
- Willow (10/5): -
- Juniper (8/5): - Comfortable accommodation close to Luganville town. The restaurant on site has delicious meal options. We appreciated the AC in our room (only place out of the 4 places we stayed on our trip on Santo that had AC). Many locals go fishing on the beach front area and the water is clear, but the beach itself is more of a brown sand (not white if you are expecting that). The pool was nice but could have been a bit cleaner. Helpful staff and clean room. Overall, would recommend and stay again.
- Andrew (10/5): - The nicest, most helpfully and genuine people you will ever meet! The office ladies went above and beyond and the food from the restaurant was perfect! 'Chef' knows his stuff in the kitchen!
A convenient, close to the town place to stay! I highly recommend a stay here.
- Marcel (8/5): - L'emplacement est calme face à la mer. RAS
- Aaron (7/5): -
- 2287Melissa2456 (6/5): Friendly staff, nice resort - The resort is a bit old and could use some love. Our little bungalow was fine, clean and comfortable, but could use some improvements such as bedside tables/lights, hooks or bars to hang towels and clothes. The restaurant food is ok but we found nicer food in town. Note that the road from town to this resort and further west is currently being worked on, it is very very holey, muddy and slow at the moment (June 2025). When the road and footpath is fixed it could be nice to walk to town but at the moment you get covered in mud. The staff were lovely and friendly
- Paquette (10/5): Won as usual - Breakfast
- Alex (4/5): - This beachfront stay was a major letdown. The room reeked of dampness, likely from poor cleaning and half-inch gaps in the exterior door. Dirty walls, a loose toilet seat, and bizarre green/brown dripping faucets were gross. The shower barely worked, spraying all over, and hot water was scarce despite two front desk complaints. Annoyingly, the room had no phone, so trips to the office were necessary for every issue, rain or shine.
The "complimentary continental breakfast" was a joke. Totally inconsistent and consistently weak, it started with toast, three sad condiment options, a small plate of local fruit, granola, yogurt, and a drink. The next day was the same, but the yogurt was clearly spoiled – slimy, curdled, and sour. By the third morning, the yogurt was obviously rotten, completely separated and warm. My wife, expecting bad yogurt, wanted granola, but it was gone. Plus, we often found dirty utensils and plates. Then, on our last day, with new guests arriving, breakfast suddenly became a huge buffet.
Beyond the bad room and breakfast, our dinner attempt was also a bust. As we checked the menu, it rained, and both the outdoor and "indoor" dining areas leaked badly, so we went back to our room.
Despite all these issues with the property and food, the service was genuinely great. All of the employees we encountered were nothing but kind and helpful. It's a shame the facilities didn't match their positive attitudes.
Still, really disappointed overall.
- Natakorn (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): - Very comfortable. Good internet. Well groomed grounds and friendly staff. A wonderful experience. Away from the hustle of town, can catch regular buses from a short distance walk away for the five minutes car travel into town.
- Murray (7/5): Good - Some of the lights didn't work
- Navneel (9/5): Perfect place for a peace of mind after a hard day's work. - Breakfast was beautiful, however a little taste of pacific would make it perfect. Maybe a few pieces of yam/taro/cassava and some cooked vegetables. Wifi...not very good but still workable.
- Katrina (9/5): Fantastic stay, exceptional service - Service was exceptional. As we were on a late flight in, they even left chicken salad rolls in our room in case we were hungry.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Bradley (3/5): Poor - Buildings were good. Food was rubbish, charged 5% on top of bill, bare minimum offered not good value.
- Karen (6/5): - The units were clean
No information or tours from the complex
You need to organise this yourself
Limited amenities within the complex
Food was not the best
Further out of town than expected
- Lyndal (10/5): - The staff were lovely; the facilities were great. The menu needs to be upgraded and more varied.
- David (9/5): A lovely spot with delightful staff. - We loved the staff - the general manager was very helpful and very kind in accommodating our forced change of plan, and all the hotel team so friendly. We loved the location, with the sound of the sea breeze in the trees outside our room. There was nothing we did not like. Our stay more than met our expectations.
- Sue (10/5): - Fantastic staff and manager. Clean quiet and safe
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - The location was good. Staff were lovely and very welcoming. Water pressure from the shower wasn't very good with just a dribble. Fan in our room didn't work that well also. Toilet kept flushing 😳 bed was only double bed .
- Annaliese (7/5): Good - Convenient location. Simple facilities but clean and staff friendly. Very basic room as plumbing broken in our booked room.
- Chris (1/5): Will not be staying there again - Could have been better Wasn't a continental breakfast.Toast and jam
- Hans (7/5): Decent for a short stay. - You can eat around the pool. They could not provide everything on the menu. When I mentioned the railing had broken of our apartment (in fact, it looked like it did a long time ago) and that it was dangerous, the staff said they would deal with it, but nothing had been done the next day. It is a stiff walk from town. Kids are allowed in the resort. Some noisy neighbours as well (church).
- Fiona (6/5): Pleasant -
- Danijade (7/5): Staff, Restaurant and Location - Staff are absolutely lovely.
The food and drinks are great, with a decent range of options all throughout the day.
The place has a pool and is on the beach with kayaks available.
Staff will arrange an airport transfer for you on request.
About a 25min walk to the main street with shops but only about 5min taxi ride. The shower didn't have hot water, which was okay as the weather was warm but would have been nice to have the option of a hot shower.
- Kaylene (7/5): Good -
- Neale (5/5): Passable - Room was clean, lovely gardens, host was accomodating Room was lacking in amenities, very basic
No TV, no toaster, no milk, old coffee sachets, had to request hot water for shower.
Room was not as description on Bookings site
A disappointing experience
- Giulio (7/5): Good - Staff was extremely friendly and kind Very basic room for the rate (90 euro per night)
5% fee to pay by credit card is really annoying. Credit card fees (not even Included in the invoice) should not be paid by the customers.
- Prue (8/5): - Nice and quiet, no road noise. Clean and tidy. It didnt seem to matter if we hung our towels up. They were changed every day any way. Staff friendly and helpful
- Prue (8/5): - Enjoyed walks along the shore, and a swim
- Claudio (5/5): Passable -
- Kate (8/5): Nice place, expensive laundry - Nice place, good restaurant. Large clean room, decent sized pool. Location is outside Luganville and there are no restaurants nearby so you have to eat at the resort. There's no washing machine and we were charged 3000vt for a load of washing!! Hot water was unreliable.
- 214anisham (8/5): Peaceful and relaxing location - Great option in Luganville, slightly outside town so worth having a car. We rented one through Erick (Erick Williams ) which was delivered to the resort and we left at the airport at no extra charge. We hired a Kia Morning which was tiny and got us around, but in hindsight, due to the potholes, would have opted for a 4WD.
We stayed 5 nights in total and started in a family room near the car park and it was musty and noisy so we were very grateful to the manager, Stuart, for his flexibility and moving us to two separate bungalows at the front of the resort. These were very pleasant, facing the water and spacious enough for 2-3 people, with a sink and fridge, ensuite and a lovely place to sit outside. The big pool area was very inviting (pool water quite cool in June), and was a gorgeous place to have breakfast each morning, overlooking the water. You can walk on the beach and in the morning watch the locals trying to net some fish. Breakfast itself was nothing special as there was little fresh fruit to be had and just muffins, white bread to toast and condiments, but it was ok. We ate dinner here once, had the pizza, and it was good. There is a communal kitchen that you might be able to use which meant we were able to cook some much needed veggies (the LCM supermarket in Luganville was very well stocked and catered to foreigners). Staff were very helpful, friendly and rooms were cleaned every day. We had a very enjoyable stay though recommend the standalone bungalows and having a car.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Sipola (9/5): Superb - Early check-in was a life saver with my early arrival but then late departure was so great to have the ability to shower before my flight after touring the day. The location is close enough to town but far away enough to feel in it. It's a distance from the western side beaches where the more notable resorts are however so much to see also on the south side Warm instead of hot showers. When travelling in June/July which is cold and definitely winter when you get a hot shower is just lovely which I didn't get at this property
- clare (8/5): - The team were super friendly and helpful. Its a basic hotel with very basic room facilities but you dont spend much time in the room!
Its a few km from town ..too far to walk with kids but ok for adult's
Team were great, and very accomodating
- Vera (8/5): Lovely beachside bungalows. - Nice pool. Nice continental breakfast. friendly helpful informative manager.
- Kerryn and Peter (6/5): - Chose this because it was on the beach, but the beach was gravel and muddy and not nice for a swim. Room smelled very musty when we arrived but once the ceiling fan was going for a bit that helped, could do with something to sit on in the room other than the bed.
The team there were very helpful in regard to getting around and general day to day things
- Amber (7/5): Good - beautiful waitresses and location no bbq as stated in facilities. light bulbs blown in room and aircon vent held up with tape. more pillows needed too.
- David (9/5): Quiet place out of the madding crowd. - The place is very nice and clean. Very comfortable beds and the pool was great.
Quiet place close to the main city and very helpful staff.
Rocky Beach in front of the resort, do not expect a nice swim. Breakfast was ok, but we expected more. The same day, the Governor was going to have breakfast at the same place and probably bacon, sausages and meat was provided to him.
Cocktails very basic.
- Burrell (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was good and great staff
- JimmythePoM (8/5): Lovely stay, awesome staff - Stayed four nights then checked out and stayed at a small bungalow at Port Olry for about a week before staying again at the Beachfront resort.
Recommend visiting Champagne beach and the Port Olry white sandy beaches. :)
Staff were very helpful especially Lincoln in the front office. He was very accommodating and even took us out for our first kava session EVER on his off-time at the Starfish bar just past Saint Michel.
Resort food was good however the restaurant service was consistently slow where we would have to walk up to waiting staff to order our drinks and meals.
Our room was what we paid for and when the pool was good to use our kids were very happy.
On our 2nd stay the front office organised some drinks for us and the kids to welcome us back.
Overall: ok rooms. Awesome staff. Good food. Restaurant waiting staff need to be more switched on. Pool needs to be good to use everyday.
- Deanne (8/5): Very good -
- 88wilfredw (10/5): Good value - located just outside town, a peaceful and quiet place with friendly staff, a new manager doing a great job. The food was excellent, service a bit slow, great views of the ocean and wonderful sunrises. Overall great value with a tropical feeling
- Stephen (9/5): Fantastic Stay. Staff could not have been better. Would love to stay again! - Nothing was too difficult for the staff. Great facilities WIFI only worked near the restaurant. Had some trouble with the hot water
- Nicky (8/5): The staff were very helpful and friendly - Nice gardens, quiet, pool was lovely. A little dated and lacked character.
- Jimbo (9/5): A great initial base on Santi - A wonderful stay made great as always by the staff Very little to be honest
- Amy (4/5): Disappointing -
- Edel (6/5): Not as good as what we expected - We stayed at the Beachfront Resort for 3 nights on our honeymoon. Our initial experience was pretty poor, we arrived around 4pm after only a short delay from Vila and the reception waited for us, as they usually close at 3, which we appreciated but when we went to our room, it was small and dirty and we couldn't do anything until reception opened the following morning. When we did go to reception and explained our disappointment, Stuart received our complaint professionally and apologised for our experience and said he'd rectify it. They arranged a better room for us and moved us with in a few hours. The 2nd room was much better though still very basic and, the place overall could do with a revamp. The pool was nice and warm which was lovely and they had lots of covered huts on the deck where you could chill, read, have a drink while staying dry from the rain or taking a reprieve from the heat. The complimentary kayaks were appreciated but we didn't use as the weather wasn't great. On our last night, we were treated to champagne and a seafood feast to apologise for the inconvenience which was a kind gesture. The rooms need a revamp big time. The mattress was filthy and there were bugs everywhere. The first room we stayed in had bugs all over the bed while we slept which felt gross. The place is not as advertised, there is no beach and I wouldn't call it a resort. It is further from town than advertised but the reception staff are very accommodating in calling a taxi for you when you need it. The restaurant ran out of many menu options on night 2 so we were restricted to a very limited menu to order from. The breakfast was pretty average; would have liked some more fresh fruit/cereal/more bread options than tasteless white bread! The pool was closed on the morning of day 3 until we left at 9am the following morning which was a shame.
- Vanita (6/5): it was sufficient for what we needed. very short stay lasting only a few hours as we just needed space to rest before a - Lovely setting, spacious, beach front very pretty.
- Stella (8/5): great place to stay - It’s a quiet area and yet not so far from the town proper. A taxi which you can easily find at the corner would just cost you 300 to 400 vatu one way. If you don’t want to go out you can kayak or swim in the beach or swim in the pool.
Stewart and all the staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful
- Míra (8/5): Very good -
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (9/5): Superb -
- Danijade (9/5): Superb -
- Gerry (8/5): Very good - Everything. Resterant prices and low quanity of food provided on plate..
- Slithergadee (8/5): Very good -
- Yin-ting (10/5): Exceptional - Beachfront resort was such a comfortable and warm accommodation with great beach views. The staff were so welcoming, especially Lincoln from the reception!
- Troy (10/5): - Everyone was amazing and super friendly. Beautiful property and the owner David is such a unique and wonderful man super smart and full of knowledge.
- Geeta (8/5): - Very good customer service. Includes a nice restaurant with free breakfast. Comfortable rooms located very close to the beach for a relaxing feel.
- Mark (10/5): Pleasant stay - Lovely hotel just a little walk out of town. Buses and taxes constantly going into the main part of town. Great pool area and nice clean rooms with air con.
- Flans_Travel (8/5): Almost 5 stars - We had a wonderful stay at the resort. We spent 4 nights in one of the sea facing bungalows and it was well worth the upgrade from the other room types. The resort is peaceful and it is nice to explore the beachfront and surrounding areas.
The only things that keep this from scoring a 5 star review is the pool and villa balcony furniture, which is a little hard and uncomfortable and also the prices of the food at the resort. It is simply over priced for the quality, sadly.
- BruceV979 (10/5): Go for Lunch - We had a brief visit to the Beachfront Resort for lunch. It was very very good. Our friends raved about the fish and chips, the beer batter must have been made on “Tusker”. The grilled dog tooth tuna was top class and the fish curry was very tender and flavorsome. If you are on Santo you must eat here.
- 32samandas (8/5): Good accommodation near town - Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfasts are included and are quite average. These could be improved. Dinners are available in the restaurant but are not included. Food is good but nothing special. Dining staff are friendly and lovely. There are some water equipment available but these, too, need some upgrades. Santa is lovely, though, and quite unspoiled.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - quite a good resort on the beach which isnt great but still nice...breakfast very limited..not sure why u put canned fruit out but its a comfortable stay and not far from airport
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All excellent. Stayed many places but this is about the best
- Travels_with_Tim (4/5): Disingenuous management - The resort is quite nice and, providing you book online and have a confirmed deal, this is a good place to stay, BUT....
1. Book online as you cannot trust management to honour any commitment unless it's in writing, and even then ....
2. If management promises a refund, don’t believe them. It won’t happen.
Now I’ll explain the buts:
We stayed for one night as the other accommodation we had previously booked was unavailable for the first night in Luganville. After flying into Luganville I made a quick check online with Booking.com and found there were two "Starfish" rooms available at the Beachfront Resort. Rather than book through the online provider we presented ourselves 10 minutes later at the hotel and requested the "Starfish" room which I had seen online just minutes earlier for AUD 88.84. I was assured that the rate charged would be the same. In the morning I was presented with a room charge of 8,000 vatu (about $104) by the desk clerk. When I queried this charge I was told by a person, who I now know was the manager, that the charge matched the Booking.com rate. I then opened the app on my phone and handed it to the desk clerk who took it and showed it to the manager. He just snorted that the rate was $104 when the rate on my phone clearly showed the lower rate.
Following some email exchanges, which were initiated by the manager, I was promised a refund of the difference. He wrote in an email “Please don’t bother coming to the office – it’ll be at the bar – longer opening hours.”
A few days later I went to the bar at Beachfront Resort to collect my refund. The bar staff knew nothing about the refund and, after they checked at the office, asked if I could come back some other time.
The resort was out of my way so I sent an email (25 September) providing bank account details for the refund. I sent a follow up email on 1 November reiterating the refund request. These emails have been met with a stony silence even though previous emails were answered. There has been ample opportunity for a refund to be made and it is quite clear to me that a refund will never be made.
Conclusion: Good place to stay, but don’t trust the manager.
- Bia (10/5): - We loved everything, staff extremely kind & polite, breakfast was delicious, the management extremely professional and pay attention to details. To us was the best hotel to stay in Luganville, highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The position was the most positive thing with staff being obliging a close second. The gardens are well kept. They provide only 2 wooden loungers for around the pool. Neither have top pads. Very few beach towels if any. No dish detergent or tea towels in units, no plates or cutlery. No music while dining or in public areas. No arm chair or similar in unit. Toilet had become detached from floor. Tiles in shower very slippery. Too many locals ( day guests they call them) using the pool and facilities.
- lisarH2116IB (10/5): Perfect - I was in Santo for a work trip and based myself at Beachfront Resort. It was excellent. Staff could not have been more professional, welcoming and accommodating. Wifi was reliable, which I needed to work in the evening. Reasonably quick walk into town, or affordable taxi rides if needed.
Food was good and the resort hosted had two dinners for high level government official while I was there - which they handled in such a way that us 'ordinary' guests were still made to feel welcome and looked after.
- Janigel (10/5): Dinner - Excellent venue :-))
Excellent food :-))
Friendly staff :-))
Lovely place for dinner - would thoroughly recommend to others
Right on the beachfront and a fabulous swimming pool too.
Great accommodation we would stay here if we returned to Espiritu Santo :-)))
- SoloAus (8/5): Good location nice staff - Very clean, nice pool area, breakfast is simple but more than enough. WiFi is available at the pool area and works well. The staff are super friendly.
Taxis and buses service the area ascend it's only a five minute walk to the marine school.
- ntadub (10/5): Quality Resort in good location - We stayed three nights at The Beach Front Resort, Luganville before we headed to bungalows on the East Coast.
I was a bit worried about the latest reviews but after staying at the resort Ithink there might have been some malice or axe to grind from the poster as we didn't experience or see any of the issues complained about.
We found high standard accomodation and a spotlessly clean resort, it was probably the best quality accomodation we found in Vanuatu.
The Dolphin Ocean view room was a good size and easily accommodated my family of 3. The bathroom was great and had plenty of hot water for post snorkling or diving rinse.
The swimming pool was also fantastic and we also availed of the free Kayaks and had a great paddle around the Sugond Channel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Well located a moderate walk or short 200vt taxi from the centre of Luganville. We stayed in a beach front Dolphin Room that was spotless, well appointed and a good size for the three of us.
The pool was very clean and perfect temperature.
The outlook across the Legond Channel towards Aore Island was great, we took out the free Kayaks for a paddle towards Luganville which was fun.
Overall a well run and well appointed resort.
- 352antonr (2/5): Beachfront reality check - Arrived at Beachfront to find that the room type of one of our rooms was changed to a smaller, cheaper room without notifying us.
The staff at the pool / restaurant area are good - but the manager of the establishment is unfortunately running the place down.
He’s only interest is his computer screen - does not even attempt to recognise guests complaints. The hot water system does not work, ran out of towels, ran out of beer, canned fruit offered with the continental breakfast, over priced and limited menu selection.
Complimentary wifi very poor and keeps dropping out. No sign of the fishing and diving centre the manager said was about to be completed a year ago - apart from a kayak with a rod holder.
Overall the establishment does not live up to the high ratings to date - I believe it may be due to lack of attention and direction from the manager.
- Oleg (8/5): - A very good hotel with a friendly staff. Walking distance to the main town. The only downside is a beach which can't be compared to a the eastern beaches on Santo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff and do not bother about you unless you ask them....a lot of privacy even with people moving about. Except for the poor internet service in the room, all other services were excellent. A great view of the beach front that one can walk every morning without any hassles or contact with others...
- Chris555555555 (8/5): Nice place, good location. - Nice resort overall, clean rooms & air con. 15min walk from main town centre (200vat taxi). Not much of a beach across from it but there is a pool. Air conditioning worked a treat also for those hot nights!
- Valentin (10/5): Great stay. Value for money - facilities are great. Food is good. Shared/Communal kitchen is very convenient. Very close to town, market and local amenities
- darrellchild (10/5): Other side of heaven - We have enjoyed our time at the Beachfront Resort. Dave Cross and has staff are very accommodating and the facilities are exactly what we expected. Our bungalow overlooks the ocean, to witness a beautiful sun rise every morning. The pool and grounds are well kept. The food at the restaurant is good, and can accommodate larger groups. If you are looking for a vintage island life experience this is your island and this is your place. However, if you are looking for larger resorts, in more crowded resort communities then you will probably be disappointed. The rooms are clean and comfortable, WiFi is not super fast, but the island life will sweep you away into a bygone era. We highly recommend this place and hope many will enjoy similar experiences.
- Ybbut (10/5): Fantastic beach views - What a pleasant surprise when we were shown our accommodation for the next 6 days. Spacious, comfortable, and clean, right on the waterfront. For an R & R Holiday this is the ideal location, as it's very quiet and secluded. The huge pool is a fabulous alternative to the beach. The dining facilities are on the pool deck. Every staff member is very friendly, and are always smiling.
We had reason to visit a bank one afternoon. It was a 5 min. Walk. Here we were advised that Vanuatu won the "Happiest country in the world" competition on 2 x seperate occasions. Those smiles are very noticeable and unforgetful. Can highly recommend the Beach Front Resort. We will be back.
- cristianogaribaldi (10/5): Great place to unwind and relax - The resort is great, the position is good, on the beach and near the city (1.5km walk if you need to). The room are extremely clean and people are nice. The place is safe, I left all my diving outside the room with no issues or fear they would get stolen. Would have been nice to have some seats/lounges on the beach. Even a beach bar of something as I felt is the resort is not making the most of the position (beachfront). Other than that I was happy with it. There is also a small but fully usable shared kitchen that we used a few nights. I would recommend it.
- GrantRum (10/5): Wonderful place to unwind - My wife and I are volunteering for a month on Santo and were looking for a place to spend the day on our day off. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day at Beachfront. All staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The pool was lovely! The grounds are meticulously maintained and in excellent condition. The food was superb. We enjoyed the pizza at lunch and we had the seafood marinara pasta for dinner. Both were great, but the seafood marinara was amazing! Absolutely loaded with fish and seafood! We will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Spacious rooms, air conditioning, lots of common space, nice pool and large garden. Location is convenient to town. The resort also has a common kitchen and large BBQ area if you wish to use. Very reasonable room rate compared to other properties in Santo. Best value! Free WIFI. Highly recommended for staying in Luganville.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Better than expected. The staff (especially Lorna) could not have been more helpful. Location was perfect and although breakfast was basic, it was sufficient. The toom is modern and air conditioned (essential at this time of year) and bed very comfortable.
I would highly recommend this Resort to all travellers to Santo.
- Lucas (10/5): - The hotel is beautifull with the bungalows and the swimming pool just next to the restaurant. Lovely view on the beach. The staff is very friendly.
- Kegard (2/5): Bed bugs-traveler warning - I truly wish I could give a good rating but sadly my room had bed bugs, which besides being very uncomfortable caused quite a bit of anxiety which put a huge damper on my holiday and will be costly to handle when I get back to Australia as I’ll need to throw away certain items and do a very good clean of others to remove any eggs they may have laid. I had brought up the issue on my second night as I noticed the bites were getting worse and were in lines, typical of bed bugs. Owner told me “there are bed bugs of some kind in every bed” (not exactly an appropriate response) but said he’d get housekeeping to look. I was able to change rooms, and did not find out until I checked out that they did in fact find them and didn’t even bother to tell me. I was not offered any sort of compensation for this initially, and when I asked calmly and politely as I explained the situation the owner was extremely abrasive and condescending, but did end up comping me one night. As a travel agent if any of my clients ever had that experience I know the operators I work with would offer significant compensation immediately, in addition to vowing to rectify the situation so no other travelers would have to go through it. For reference I was in room 14 and room 9 so I would not recommend staying in either until it’s been handled, while there didn’t seem to be any in room 9 they can travel in your luggage and I could have brought them from my first room.
Overall, if it weren’t for this issue I would have given 4 stars, as the staff were lovely(minus the male owner)especially Kimberley and Lorna, the pool and restaurant area were beautiful and the location outside of town was nice. If you did choose to stay, I’d suggest a mozzie net as it’s quite easy for them to get in the rooms.
- alicef117 (10/5): Hospitable & Helpful - The moment we booked, staff were prompt to recommend a local company to airport transfer. We were happy with our room: clean, comfortable bed with fluffy white towels. But a cut above service was when the owner manager Dave helped us out with our flights. There was a last min flight change which would mean us missing our connecting flight home. Dave was calm and patient about it. Location is AAA beach front, lush lawn, a sparkling pool with great common seating area and top off with a sensational tropical outlook. We dined at the restaurant in the evening twice and we were very happy with the quality and standard of the food.
- Amanda (6/5): Reasonable - Reception staff not terribly helpful considering my daughter got a severe case of food poisoning from her dinner cooked in their kitchen. Was disappointed that we were not even offered a refund for her meal.
The other staff however were friendly and helpful. The pool area was lovely. Room pretty good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed here for 2 nights before moving up to Turtle Bay Lodge. It was convenient, but the location is such that I wouldn't stay here much longer than a few nights. Pool and restaurant were fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff. Booked in twice to dolphin villa as a break from yacht. Excellent location for base to reprovision yacht with convenient anchoring off beach in good holding. Air conditioned room was bliss to escape 2 days rain. Pizzas are fantastic.
