Guest Reviews
- Cameron (8/5): - Property was nice and the staff were lovely but it was a bit far away from town and transport wasn’t provided.
We still enjoyed our stay.
- Christopher (4/5): - The minimal staff were amazing.
To start with no hot water in our beachfront bungalow… had steal a gas bottle from another bungalow.
Bed was really uncomfortable…and noisy my camping mattress is better.
Toilet was wobbly not secure properly
3 out of 6 louvres had broken handles and not working
Outside porch light not working
Stair safety light leading to Bar which also doubled as reception not working
One of the two faucets in bathroom required attention for minimal flow.
Rear support beam completely ravaged by white ant or borer … just painted over.
One bedside lamp not operating, missing plug adapter.
No coffee, milk or water in room fridge.
The blow up sUP boards all flat.
Take your own snorkelling gear … it’s a very nice little reef right out front.
Our first and last meal was a 35$ cheeseburger with a 40-50mm beef patty on a stale bun.
No coffee machine in bar and the ice making machine has been broken for longer than 6 months according to the helpful bar staff who were making ice in trays to service 12 bungalows.
Ran out of Beer on day 1, no fish or calamari as advertised on menu… ran out of cider on day 3. My partner and I cut our trip short mainly cause of the hard noisy double bed that creeked with the slightest movement, making sleep difficult.
The bar didn’t have change or float for drinks purchased with cash.
We paid close to double price per night compared to Breakas.
Oh it’s nice and quiet if you just want to relax,
- preston (2/5): Bad value - No hot water, no soap, bad internet, no atmosphere, poor food. Staff not in uniforms, no clear reception. Dirty pool, broken furniture. Contact details of website are not correct. Over priced.
- Andrew (2/5): Disaster - Restaurant was shut. You’re in the middle of nowhere with no place to eat. They tried to send us to the resort next door but they were full. Waited an hour to get a cab into town for lunch.
Snorkeling was underwhelming. Visibility sucked.
WiFi was awful. 0.50Mbps. Except at the bar area.
No bar. No services. No nothing. Place was a ghost town. Only four people staying and all regretting it.
No customer service - just wishing us luck finding a restaurant nearby.
You can’t have a place this remote and expect guests to self cater.
Breakfast was a couple of bits of toast and some fruit.
Value for money was awful. We checked the day we arrived, and for some reason the same room was available for less than half what we paid. Felt very ripped off.
The accommodation was basic. Clean, but nothing exciting.
Overall, I would give this zero out of five if that was an option.
Only saving grace was that we booked for just two nights. Which was still two nights too many.
Lots of other options nearer to town. Find something else.
This place might be good once they get the renovations done and restaurant open. But for now, it is a disaster.
- Laure (10/5): - The resort is absolutely beautiful with stunning water views on the bay, beautifully maintained tropical gardens, and cute tropical "fare" bungalows. You have the choice of swimming in the pristine sea or in the lovely swimming pool.
The staff is so dedicated to helping you have the best stay and the manager is very helpful.
We'll come back.
- Melissa (8/5): - Coco Beach resort is a small, quiet and local property. It’s out of town which is great if you are after a quiet experience, and you can snorkel the reef in front of the property.
Negatives are the road from town (holes and potholes). The cost of food at the restaurant is also pretty high.
If you have expectations of an international chain style accommodation, you will be disappointed. However it is a lovely, basic resort which is warm and welcoming. The staff is very helpful - from arranging transfers to town / assisting with tour bookings / providing advice / assisting to resolve problems. Only other tip is that the reception is the bar on the beach, not at the entry of the property.
- CAROLINE (8/5): - Coco Beach is budget friendly and we definitely got value for money. The fares are basic but bright and airy. We had the huge pool to ourselves every time we used it. The snorkelling out the front of the resort was fantastic. While it was a little further out of Vila than we had stayed before, it meant it was very quiet. We had to walk a fair way to get a bus into town on one day but had a delightful trip home by boat from the jetty in Vila, something we had not done before. The food was good but we did have a day and night where the chef was not in so we went to the resort down the road, Paradise Cove, where the food was incredible and we were treated as if we were staying there. Special mention to Frank and Elton at Coco Beach who looked after us so well during our stay. I would recommend Coco Beach for the person looking to relax and snorkel/swim away for the hustle and bustle of a big resort.
- Grant (10/5): De-stress your life at Coco Beach - Love this place. Staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. The manager gave us rides into town on a few occasions. Clown fish family and plenty of other fish just a couple metres off shore. This is our second time, and we will be back again for sure.
5 o’clock cocktails are a must.
Take a water taxi, for a great way to get into town to avoid the pot holes on the roads.
- elena (10/5): - A characteristic resort which is peaceful , good access to beach abs snorkelling . Idyllic setting , lovely bungalows . Dining area with beautiful view, food is good and the staff friendly and welcoming
Everything for a tropical paradise , not a party site thank heavens
Wonderful staff
- Kelly (2/5): - Got there the first night alone and there was no one at reception. Three men with torches led me to my room and asked if I was alone. The latches on the window where all broken and didn’t close properly. The floor of the toilet was dirty and there was rat poo on the spare bed. The door handle didn’t feel secure. Left immediately and booked somewhere else as did not feel safe. The property was impossible to get hold of and expedia would not refund me any of the payment (even though I did not spend a single night there). For the price would absolutely not recommend. Would not recommend for solo travel.
- Gavin John (8/5): - We had a very enjoyable stay. Friendly and helpful staff (particularly Frankie), good snorkeling. Peace and quiet.
- Frank Murray (10/5): - Lovely staff and sea views. Quiet and away from bustle of town. Big comfortable room. If you want easy walk to town etc, this resort is away from that but the water taxi is excellent.
- Rekha (10/5): - Lovely place to relax
- Sharon (8/5): - Manager was excellent. Other staff also nice. Beautiful location, protected from the prevailing winds and swell, right on the beach with great snorkeling.
- Fiona (8/5): Switch Off at Coco Beach - Perfect relaxation with our biggest decisions being where to swim or which tree to flop under. Beautiful location with swimming & snorkelling right in front of the resort at all tides. Simple food done well. No bells & whistles - the perfect place to escape and unwind.
- Belinda Joy (8/5): - The resort is small and quiet. The bares are very nice inside. They do get very hot, especially if you are not staying in one of the four beachfront ones that have aircon like we did. Even with aircon it is difficult to keep the room cool as large parts of the building are screened off with mesh.
The food at the resort is very expensive. The lunchtime chicken wrap served with a small portion of chips was Au$30. All meals were around the same price. The food was not of the quality expected for such a high price. Breakfast was free.
There were a few nights where the chef didn't turn up and we went to restaurants on the other side of the peninsula. I highly recommended Three Pigs and Cafe Villa. Both restaurants served excellent quality food. The road to both is very bumpy - something to note if you have back problems.
The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help you, especially 'H', the manager.
Oddly, room cleaning each day took upwards of two hours. Very clean but inconvenient if you need to get back into your room.
If you want to go into Port Vila, the quickest way is by water taxi which is a 15min ride and costs V2000 per person - AU$25 per person. You can also get a bus V300 each, or a taxi
V2000 each. A word of warning, everything for tourists in Vanuatu is marked up. Don't go there if you are after a cheap holiday.
That said, Coco Beach is somewhere to switch off, relax, read and swim. The resort is beautiful, quiet and exactly what we wanted.
- Ryan (10/5): - The staff and restaurant are excellent. The location is a bit out of the way, but we never struggled to get to any activities from there.
We did have a crab sneak in sometime during one of the nights, but that comes with beachfront view i suppose!
The snorkelling was fantastic, and we didnt feel the need to go elsewhere and pay since the numbers and variety of stuff to see with the provided gear was so good.
Shoutout to Gina who was incredibly helpful and made our stay an absolute delight
- ADEL (10/5): - A wonderful relaxing place to stay
- George (8/5): - The staff were amazing and friendly. Very accommodating. I would have liked to have seen some night gaming room setup as there was down days due to cyclone. Especially as there is no TV. Maybe even a rotation of dinner menu options, especially if your stay is longer than 3 days. But beautiful views and amazing waters and reef to snorkel. If you enjoy the sun and water, it's perfect.
- Kylie Lynette (10/5): - We loved every minute of our stay at Coco Beach resort. The staff were just beautiful, and we felt very looked after and thoroughly spoilt. The location is just amazing. We loved the snorkeling from the beach each day with an abundance of fish and coral. The pool was sparkling clean. The breakfast was a great way to start the day right at the water's edge and the sunsets at the end of the day were stunning. At night you could hear the waves rolling in.Definitely coming back.
- Keith (8/5): - The location is great, too expensive for the room and service, meals most days were missing something due to ingredients not available. Hope its improved with the new manager
- Dani (6/5): - Absolutely guttered about our stay here booked what we thought was a family room ,due to delayed flights arrived late at night , tough for the Van driver to find.
When we arrived to check in my partners son isn't allowed to stay with us despite there being a single bed in the room , Lucky there is family he could stay with but was so late and far out not much else we could do .
The Hotel is only kids 12 (he was 11) and over though I missed it in the small print when booking just saw the family looking room . We were really stuck trying to find somewhere else in the morning we discussed paying for the night we stayed or two and refunding the rest but they said I had to go through expedia for this process ,in took a few hours on iffy internet , expedia were unable to get a clear answer straight away but would get back to us.Had to urgently pick up son and find elsewhere as we couldnt spend our holiday sitting around and needed to confirm a roof over our heads. We located MG Cocomo in town who were lovely. After 2 days we heard from coco beach offering us two nights at one of their other resorts Topicana but we had already settled in unpacked and now paid for our second lot of accommodation We guttered they couldn't have offered that sooner because packing up and tavelling again in the heat only to loss money again, just wasn't a solution , it was exhausting and were on holiday. Expedia got back to say the refund was declined inhuman, gutting.we had to restrict the rest of trip.
- Bernadette (4/5): - Staff were awesome. Beautiful people. We had to ask for sheets to be changed on our first night as they were dirty.
Menu very limited and overpriced for what it was. Ended up eating elsewhere for most of our stay.
Certainly didnt deserve the 4 star rating
- Nola (8/5): - Coco Beach Resort is a little bit of paradise with its clean beach, clear water, spectacular sunsets and lovely staff. The downside was cleaniness of our accommodation. The day beds bedding was dirty and torn, the fridge was disgusting and obviously hadnt been cleaned for awhile and unfortunately the food was very average with a limited menu. The owners need to spend some money on the property with some upgrades and staff training.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Coco beach resort is the perfect place for some r&r. The staff are so friendly and make a real effort to make you feel safe and comfortable, which coming from a solo traveler, means a lot. The accommodation has everything you need and the staff are more than happy to organise anything else that you want to do. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. I wish I had stayed longer!
- Gurjit (10/5): - Was nice peaceful place. Staff did excellent job. Only set back was no fruits due to cyclones . And more different types of meals are added to the menu.
- Zaher (10/5): - Staff and management are very friendly and helpful, sunset, peaceful, beautiful warm water
- hayley (10/5): - Coco beach resort is a beautiful resort on stunning beachfront. Snorkelling gear, paddleboarding, kayaking all available to do free of charge. The location is quiet and safe and ideal for adults. Transfers to other destinations or sightseeing were easily arranged by the resort. Truely the staff were amazying from management to each of the reception women and friendly housekeeping. I would highly reccomend staying at coco beach resort.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Coco Beach Resort is a perfect setting, albeit a little isolated.
Really quiet and only the sound of the ocean to send you to sleep. Gina and Vanessa were very helpful and a delight to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile on their faces. Easy to organise transport - water taxi, bus or taxi to take you anywhere and reasonably priced
- Alex (2/5): - We stayed here for one night thinking it would be beautiful. BOY WERE WE WRONG
It was ABSOLUTELY disgusting
Cockroaches
Ants
Smelly
The restaurant was horrendous
Horrible food
No options for dairy free or vegetarian
I ordered ‘locally caught fresh fish’ on the menu.
The fish filet came out completely rock solid, no taste, no freshness to it what so ever and we paid $36 dollars for this.
The restaurant was over priced, the resort is over priced.
Not to mention the absolute hike to get to the place.
2.2km of dirt 4x4 drive, not suitable for a normal hire car what so ever.
I accidentally got one digit wrong on my CC details at the end of stay and the owner was WAITING at the airport for us since us checking out. (that’s what he said while my partner was in the bathroom - leant over him while using the men’s bathroom and said that!!!) he was demanding money from us or he would get the police!
He was yelling at my partner in the middle of the airport and my partner had no idea what to do so he went and gave him 7000V for no reason!
I do not recommend ANYONE to stay here it was disgusting
- Desley (8/5): - Beautiful location, gorgeous beach and Gina was the best - nothing was too much trouble with a giant smile!
- Michael (10/5): - Beautiful, peaceful and quite
- Vadim (10/5): - Excellent swimming, excellent snorkeling! Absolutely amazing, attentive and very helpful manager Robert.
- Renee Mary (10/5): - We had a very relaxing 19 days at Coco Beach in a beach front fure.
- Deborah (8/5): - Beautiful location on the water in a quiet part of Port Vila -- just 20 minutes outside of town. There is a gorgeous bar/restaurant out on a pier with stunning views. The property overall was nicely laid out when it was built but needs some post-pandemic renovation. The manager is lovely and very attentive.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Our sheets were not changed for the whole week.
We had to ask for clean bath towels and our beach towels were changed once.
When we arrived the swimming pool was GREEN - after some days of staff pouring chlorine in I did see one person using it, but I sure was not going to.
Also, the photos on your site must have been taken 30 years ago.
For AUD$6,554.77 for flights from Brisbane and seven nights accommodation with breakfast, I feel absolutely RIPPED OFF by you Expedia.
Has anyone from your organisation ever visited this property?
- Sarah (10/5): Beautiful private and secluded. Will return - The property is small..around 15 bungalows. Beach frontage with hammocks. Nice home cooked style food restaurant onsite. About 30mins drive from town. Hist and stsff are wonderful! Beds comfy. Room well equipped. Good shower hot snd cold with pressure (which is rare here!) Beach is nice and reef is good for snorkelling. Bring insect repellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely quiet spot, 15 mins from the centre of town. Direct access onto a protected reef so plenty of beautiful corals and fish.
The out of town location means special transfers are required but these are simple to arrange and pretty cheap.
Remember Vanuatu is a developing country so don’t expect power showers etc, just peaceful tranquility!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - If you want a quiet break with beautiful snorkeling , lovely food and accommodation, great views this is the place for you.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The manager welcomed me and I felt comfortable and safe immediately (single traveller). All staff help the guests with anything they need. I got the beach front fare, and it was worth it. The bed was really comfortable and I just had to walk a few metres to the most spectacular snorkelling with endless varieties of fish. The room took advantage of the breeze. In short, this was the perfect place to relax. I wish I had stayed 10 days instead of 5.
- MonaMia (10/5): - If you are after a peaceful holiday in a wonderful small resort, this is for you. Best snorkeling right off the beach, great food at decent prices (compared to other places in Port Vila) and such wonderful staff. Stuart and his team are doing a marvelous job. Our Garden Bure was clean and spacious and lovely decorated. All round perfect for us.
- Angela (8/5): Relax at Coco Beach - Positives
Beautiful location. Good sized room. Friendly staff. Nice beach. Peaceful and secluded. Small with not too many people. Restaurant meals were good. Lovely garden. Loved the Beachfront bungalow. Towels good and room made up daily.
Negatives
In need of TLC. The pool wasn’t cleaned the whole time we were there, (three nights) and is in need of an upgrade. This would have been disappointing if we wanted to use it. Even so it wasn’t a good look. The reception area is no longer at the entrance probablyfor convenience and economic use of staff. The foyer as you arrive is therefore abandoned and not looking good with vines growing over it. We arrived mid evening and there was no one to greet us. After a call to the manager the security guard found us. There is very little lighting leading to the front of the resort, the lights are there but not working. It costs $5 AUD per person to get into town in a local bus/van or $13 each by water taxi each way. This can add up.
The bed canopy was dirty. The tap fittings were loose. Restaurant and cafe meals and drinks in Vanuatu are equivalent or dearer than Australia, not just at the resort restaurant.
Overall this is a relaxing place to stay away from the town. Beautiful sunsets.
- LoveTheSea (10/5): - Wonderful resort. Beautiful bungalows, lots of attention to detail. The location is awesome, a little out of town. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, we felt like part of the family. Everyone is so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. If you like swimming and snorkeling, brilliant sunsets, and a peaceful place, Coco Beach is the place for you. We’ll be back later this year for a longer stay. Thank you all. We can’t wait to come back
- Verified traveler (10/5): Little Gem of a Place... - What a hidden gem.. Stayed 4 nights and it was super..
Stuart the manager was extremely accommodating and nothing was a problem. All staff members always smiling and Celine in particular went out of her way to address my hot water issues
If you come to Vanuatu, stay here, you won't be disappointed, there are bikes, kayaks, SUP, all to use, plus snorkeling. Thanks for having me.. and all the best for a great tourist season coming up
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff, always helpful and smiling. Resort right on the beach with beautiful snorkeling out the front. Short bus ride into town
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice accommodation, clean room, friendly staff and a very very very beautiful beach front.
- Cathy (10/5): - Good location out of town but not too far. Amazing scenery. Fantastic, friendly and very helpful staff. On humid nights the ceiling fans didn’t cool the rooms enough but most nights were fine. Bed was a bit uncomfortable and wifi didn’t reach our room but was excellent in the restaurant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Okay - The staff here were so lovely and friendly! But the location was a bit frustrating to get to/ from. Bus rides cost 300 Vatu pp and water taxi cost 1000 Vatu pp each way.
The sheets & mosquito net above the bed had stains on them but otherwise the resort was clean. Unfortunately we only got hot water one of the four days we stayed there. House keeping left the rooms nice.
Some parts of the resort were quite run down and old, Almost like the owner hasn’t spent any money fixing things recently. The fare by the pool was broken and almost unused (when we asked Stuart about it he said some of the damage happened a few days ago). There’s a slightly wild and unkept beauty to the resort.
There wasn’t any signs or information booklets about the hotel, wifi, transport, meals or checkout times which was a little unusual, but okay as Stuart was super helpful & very easy to talk to with great advice about everything including where to go eat. It would be harder for shy people or people who don’t speak English.
I ate toast & fruit for breakfast everyday after I had some horrible scrambelled eggs early on, talking to some other guests they said they enjoyed the food there though.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but probably would recommend breakas (we spent 3 nights there first) if you can afford it. Coco beach has a better ocean access to swim/ snorkel/ kayak though and free use of equipment which was cool- breakas has just a lot of coral and no swimable ocean)
- Janine (8/5): Relaxing Paradise - Lovely spot out of town but staff will organise bus for you for 300 vatu each. Great snorkelling and kayaking right out front in beautiful clear water. Pool area is run down and needs work but we didn't want to spend time here anyway. Fares are lovley but don't come here if you want 5 star and finally all the staff are so nice we'll be back for sure.
- Dennis&Carol (2/5): - SCAM! Oct 2018 Coco Beach Resort is not like website, photos were taken when resort was new. Pics & good reviews led us to book here. We dont believe the positive reviews are by people who have paid to stay here.
They 'lost' our beachside bungalow booking, we got a run down, moldy, filthy, unhygienic room. Broken screens let mosquitoes pour into our room resulting in 50+ bites. Booked for 6 nights, left after 2, disgusted with the state of what was advertised as a 4 star resort.
Amenities as stated, did not exist. White sandy beach = lumps of concrete & coral underfoot. NO sunlounges, umbrellas, hammock, bicycles. Bar & restaurant area near pool was covered in leaf debris, water damaged, clearly unused & pool filter not in operation. Cyclone damaged? then why leave your 4* pics on the website when you cannot supply?
Dining was disappointing with only 4-5 choices on the menu, no white table cloths/napkins as advertised, chipped crockery, cracked glassware, a small paper serviette & incredibly overpriced for basic food and small servings.
Room 5 was nothing like pics. A dirty room, stained bedding, shower had cracked tiles, mold & broken fittings. Electrical cables hung over bathroom wall.
Stuart the GM seemed apologetic, but similar reviews over 3 years suggest his apology was a rehearsed speech.
Attempts at refund thru Expedia = denied by owners who own 3 resorts all currently FOR SALE.
Offered us another stay here. Why would we?
Our fight for a refund WILL continue!
- Martina (10/5): Amazing hotel - I love the place, the beach is in front of the room. Restaurant has view to the ocean. This resort is really amazing and peaceful
- di (10/5): wonderful swimming and snorkeling - quiet, garden setting right on the beach. good little restaurant and bar on the waterfront. very good service from friendly, caring staff. water taxi to the Port Vila waterfront which has been wonderfully renovated since Cyclone Pam, (cafes, gardens, walkways, superyachts.)
- Jack (6/5): Could be a good little place but, needs work doing - We enjoyed our stay and the local staff were very nice and helpful. The setting for the resort is excellent but the owners need to spend some money on it, before it falls into disrepair.
They have a nice beach front with an almost natural swimming pool out over the coral, that you can snorkel over the top of (its not great but ok for a try out).
The restaurant is ok for breakfast, but dinners are ok if you are hungry and cant find anywhere else. For Australians you will find dinners expensive but that applies to the whole of Vanuatu. Also the service is not good (it was good at Coco Beach though) in general, we got starters with mains at a few places and in one instance the bill was a complete mess.
Beautiful country and people are very friendly the infrastructure is a mess though.
- Regan (8/5): CoCo beach, fantastic location - Beautiful place to stay that is sheltered from the trade winds, snorkelling is excellent and the accommodation and food offers a better than average standard.
Rooms are cleaned daily and offer all you need if you are not into marble floors and bathrooms.
The staff are fantastic, we had two occasions that were out side the normal of what a hotel would expect from a guest, both cases the staff at CoCo Beach stepped up and went more than the extra mile to avoid us having a disaster on holiday.
- charlie (10/5): Beautiful resort & even more beautiful location - We arrived in the evening on a late flight from Sydney. We were met from our taxi by hotel staffed who quickly helped with the payment of the taxi (taxi didnt want to give us change). The room is perfect, basic but pretty. We woke up in the morning to a tropical paradise. We had one of the villas furthest from beach (around 30seconds walk!) The restaurant on the water is beautiful, food amazing, staff friendly and helpful! Free use of snorkels and the snorkelling is amazing! Such a great trip. The resort is so quiet and picturesque! Would highly recommend. My only comment would be that the bed linen could do with updating as we had a large tear in ours, but stilk clean and comfy!
- Jim (6/5): Beautiful hotel, shame about the toast. - This is a lovely resort. The room is presented beautifully. Our only criticisms would be that the restaurant was average. Continental Breakfast every day was toast, jam and fruit. The coffee was good though.
There is a fantastic restaurant in the hotel next door though. If I were to I return I’d use that facility.
- Daya (4/5): Charges for Breakfast - ripped off - When we purchased this deal through Wotif, the advert said that breakfast was included. When we got to the resort, they said that it was not, even though we paid for it. I sent Wotif two emails to complain about this and to date no one has responded to me. Not a great way to the start of a holiday when this happens, it put a real damper on things when you feel ripped off. Very disappointing.
Also I think that the hotels overcharge for shuttle services from the airport to the resort.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice place to far from town .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Remote and quiet - We stayed for a week and had a great time. This hotel is a bit isolated, but it is not that difficult to get to and from town as long as you are patient, and it is not late.
Paradise Cove is right next door and has an amazing restaurant.
Friendly staff, especially manager Stewart, can help to organise anything you need - or just leave you alone. Not pushy at all, which was great.
- Ken (8/5): We had a good time! - A great place to stay, with some good meals on the menu. A bit far from the airport, but a good way to see Port Vila town. Outings were good, the drivers will take you anywhere you want to go, and will make popular suggestions.we had a last minute scare, our airport transfer driver did not turn up (already paid in advance) we had to find alternate transport and barely made our flight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great small and quiet resort with best snorkeling! - A lovely place to unwind with a spectacular reef right in front of the resort. Bring your snorkeling gear!
- Marjory (10/5): Very enjoyable - Had a great stay at Coco Beach Resort. Received a great welcome from Stuart, the owner, and the staff are all friendly too. Our beachfront Bure was lovely with great views over the sea. Snorkelling was very good too. The food was very good in the restaurant, especially the fish dishes!
- Christina (10/5): Slow down & enjoy the view. - This is where you go to relax in a stress free environment. Stuart is an excellent host/manager and his staff are warm, friendly individuals. Would highly recommend to couples wanting peace and quiet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Villas with beach at your doorstep - The staff make this place a wonderful experience, the beach is just a hop, step and a jump from the villas and a pool is also on the property.
Its was hot, therefore the fans are not enough in the evening I would ensure you book the villas on the beach as they have air-conditioning.
It is isolated so you need to be aware of that when booking, its quiet, peaceful and a very relaxing place to unwind.
- travellers (8/5): Fantastic location - Peaceful waterfront resort with cafe restaurant over water. A wonderfully relaxing beautiful place to stay and unwind
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel away from the crowds of Port Villa - This resort provided the remoteness that I was seeking but still being close enough to the action of Port Villa. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. It was extremely quiet and the beach peaceful and relaxing.
- rebecca (8/5): Great place! Lovely tranquil spot - Wanted quiet and relaxing and that's exactly what we got! Resort out of the way on beautiful little beach. Free kayaks and paddle boards which we used more than once and that was brilliant! Staff are very friendly and chatty and room cleaned every day.
Owner very welcoming and helpful with places to eat and things to do.
Breakfast perfect for chilled island days.
Would recommend to anyone!
- Helen (8/5): Fantastic location on the beach. - Loved it. Very relaxed and friendly. The manager was extremely helpful.
- Frances (8/5): Beautiful resort on the beach. - Friendly happy staff. Manager was very helpful and caring. Would certainly stay again and recommend Coco Beach to my friends. We enjoyed our stay at this well maintained quiet resort.
- Tee (10/5): Peaceful Paradise - I had absolutely the best time at Coco Beach resort!! The staff were so welcoming, friendly and always willing to assist with my requests or queries. Stuart, you were always informative and as a women travelling alone you provided conversation but also respected my space and I thank you for that. Nerri and Seline thank you for the experience of going to the local nakamal and the walks back to Coco. Loved spending time with you lovely ladies.
Coco Beach resort is truly the place to go if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life to refocus on one’s self or a relationship. I am definitely going to miss going for a dive whenever I want, pretty much at my front door. It is quiet all day and night which initially was foreign but then soooo awesome. If you’re going to go into town, try a water taxi as it not only offers a different perspective of the island but it also comes right up to Coco Beach and will drop you off right in town plus it saves you going down the bumpy road in a bus. Either way transport into town is easily organised and it really doesn’t take that long 15-20 mins or so.
As Coco Beach Resort is such an intimate setting, if you want, you can get to know other guests, often seeing each other in the restaurant at breakfast or dinner. I met some truly wonderful people who were also enjoying their time a Coco Beach.
Please clean sea ramp its too slippery
Wish there was a reduced price for guests return visits, cause I want to come back...hint hint!
- The Simsons (8/5): A GREAT PLACE TO JUST RELAX AND UNWIND - We recently stayed here for 4 nights as a couple. The outlook is great and there is swimming directly off the beach at any tide due to a man-made entry point for boats etc. The waters were clear and there were fish to be seen when snorkelling although the coral is quite dead. The staff are very friendly and the Manager Stuart is very friendly and obliging. He made a great effort to cater to my Gluten Free needs as I am a Coealiac. The Manager is also the Chef and he did a great job with the food. The rooms were well kept and clean and the grounds were maintained.
- Emily (10/5): Touch of paradise - This is the perfect place for a getaway from a busy life. It is well away from Port Vila town and is situated in an idyllic location. The weather was warm and sunny. The water was crystal clear and marine blue. The host was very welcoming and friendly as were the staff. Our meals were good. The only problem was that we had to leave!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, close to the beach. - Had the opportunity to snorkel, and use the kayaks around the reef. Free GOOD wifi is always a blessing when you are traveling away from home, and this hotel was able to offer that.
Friendly staff, no issues. Will agree with other reviews in regards to the hotel being a little "out of the way", which is great if you want to get away from everything, but not so great if you intend on sightseeing each day, so I guess you need to decide which is most important to you.
Overall, a nice break and would consider staying here again should I go back.
- Yves (4/5): Nice hotel but poor facilities - We booked two ocean view bunglaows but when we arrived we were only provided one such bungalow. A small discussion helped us and the error was quickly acknowledged. Still, for the second one, we had to settle for a half ocean view and we had to wait for 30 minutes to get it prepared.
The resort has definitely seen better days. Pest control would be more than welcome since our bungalows were visited nightly by huge cockroaches, geckos, centipedes, wasps, mosquitoes, crickets, rats and even a HUGE spider. Don't go there if you have arachnophobia. One rat even munched on some of our cookies and another one jumped out of a suitcase when we opened it.
Restaurant does not have a proper chef nor a decent menu. Three main dishes are written on a blackboard each night. Prices were much higher than in neighbouring resorts but the taste wasn’t that good. Guests were unfortunately allowed to smoke in the restaurant.
Hot water in the bungalows was random.
However, wifi was free and quite reliable. The manager, was always on hand and willing to assist. Lovely staff.
Overall, excessive rates for very basic bungalows with faulty facilities.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Mote variety of food and a proper paper menu is needed here
- Jacoba (6/5): Relaxing Place.
- We enjoyed our stay at pretty Coco Beach Resort. It is off the beaten track, on a very bumpy dirt road and quite isolated and very, very low key.
The rooms are lovely and the setting of the restaurant pretty. Stuart the manager/ receptionist/cook/ travel consultant among other things, is helpful and pleasant. Celine who serves the meals is just lovely. The resort is visited by day trippers from the cruise ships to snorkel and kayak. The coral is not very exciting but you can see some lovely tropical fish.
Our bungalow only had a glimps of the water was far too expensive. Try to obtain a beachside bungalow. It would have made our stay perfect.
- sunworshipper (2/5): Nightly invasion by cockroaches and other pests - Poorly maintained hotel with almost no facilities. This may have been a nice hotel in the past but everything has well and truly been let go. Most of the hotel facilities no longer operate (reception / lobby is disused, the restaurant no longer has a chef / menu, TV in room has no TV service, no phone, no room service, no tissues, poor water pressure, bicycles not available). Basic breakfast is provided.
The room was ok but the bathroom has a coral wall which allows all sorts of vermin and pests access. Our soap was taken one night by a rat. Every night there was an invasion by cockroaches.
The shower was terrible - mouldy, ancient taps, hot water which was either scalding hot or too cold and sometimes we had no hot water at all.
Toiletries were limited. Fresh towels were not provided daily. Beach towels changed after several days.
The place felt like a camping ground with basic facilities. Do not expect a clean and well stocked resort.
- Global Nomads (8/5): Friendly hotel on the beach - Absolutely delightful bungalow. Very comfortable. We booked beachfront ..... which was worth it.
- Norah (6/5): Should be better - Lovely location, lovely rooms. We could not access the lovely water as the beach is all coral and the steps down were too slippery. We asked for them to be cleaned, but that did not happen. We could not ger into the pool because there were a group of politicians staying and they were using the pool area and foyer, so we did not get a swim in 5 days. Restaurante looked lovely, but breakfast only fruit and bread. Dinner only 4 choices, mostly the same every night. If you do not eat meat only 2 possibilities, and did not seem to stock much food for variety. Meals around $28 which seemed quite expensive - never mind cost of wine.
