Guest Reviews
- Sophie (8/5): - Friendly and helpful staff and very spacious room and en-suite bathroom. Could do with some pictures on the wall, but great! Felt very safe. Thank you.
- Kathy (10/5): - The property is in a gated community and very quiet. The backyard is beautiful! I was the only one staying that night. It's a three bedroom, three bath house with very comfortable seating areas inside and out. Staff prepared a delicious steak dinner with fresh made fries and salad. Since I was leaving early, they prepared a breakfast to go. I would definitely stay at Sunbird Guesthouse again!
- Busi (10/5): - The most peaceful and relaxing place to stay
- Ralph M (10/5): Pristine Tranquility with Superb Service - Traveling Zimbabwe these days is not an easy feat and the search for appropriate accommodation can take time.
The Sunbird Lodge in Harare is one of the exceptional experiences we had in Zimbabwe. It is positioned in a quiet and highly secure cul-de-sac, surrounded by a manicured garden and visited by a multitude of different birds that would make even a birder happy. The rooms are spacious, the linen top notch and the bathrooms modernised according to first world specs.
My room opened out to a little veranda with fairy lights and outdoor furniture to spend sunrise and sunset in pristine tranquility. The lodge is divided into two buildings, No. 3 and No.23 - both about 200m away from each other, only No.3 has a pool, maybe to be mentioned when booking.
Both have impeccable high speed internet, which was not interrupted once during our 4 day stay, the breakfast is cooked by the staff, English breakfast cooked to perfection without GMO products, Cereals, tasty yoghurt and a variety of jams, Ground Coffee from the plunger and a juice are rounding the breakfast up.
The kitchen is open and accessible and sports an honesty bar in form of the fridge being stocked with beers, juices, soft drinks...but no wine. One of the highlights was Costa, our breakfast chef, concierge and go-to-manager, who started one day baking cookies....the smell lingered, the cookies didn't last long ;-) "Value for Money" would be an understatement!
- Ines (10/5): - Costa is the best host I've ever met. He is kind, generous and so, so observant. He's what made this stay so wonderful
- Leigh (10/5): - This is a unique accommodation in the suburbs of Harare. The former home has been converted into a guesthouse. It’s extremely comfortable and refreshing. The staff made us dinner and breakfast. There was an honor bar stocked with drinks. The garden was furnished with comfortable seating and the lounge had a nice TV.
- Vrabcho (10/5): Great as usual - Once again, perfect stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and homey lodgings in Harare - Everything went smoothly with the reservation process. My flight was cancelled causing a delay to reach my destination, but they were responsive throughout that process. Costa was there when I finally arrived, showed me around and made a most delicious breakfast the following morning before I left. The facilities were clean and nice; there is a nice terrace where one can have a drink or take coffee, and a nicely landscaped yard. I'm sorry my time there was cut short!
- richard (10/5): An oasis - This is a very well run, comfortable, clean and friendly place. I enjoyed my stay. The staff were excellent. I would recommend it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice quite and safe place in Greendale - In a housing area with bungalows located, 3 rooms for rent, located in a quite road, ca 5-8 km from city center of Harare: clean, friendly, comfortable, lawn, use of living room/hall and garden seems possible, good breakfast (cereals, yogurt, toast, eggs, & bacon and sausages, organisation of taxi for 25US$ in the morning 5 am, sufficient spacy and clean bathroom,
Negative: bit far from airport and city center (as often in Zimbabwe), taxi costs 5-7 US; from airport I paid 30 US$ at night 11 pm, on meter 33,6 US$ indicated. Combis in main street Greendale Av, but often full in the morning and do not stop, shoping center ca 2 km away. Fruit basket offered,
recommendable.
- T (10/5): Amazing - the best place definitely going back again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable, Quiet Neighborhood B&B - My room and bathroom at the Sunbird were clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. The host was helpful and there when I needed help. He made a wonderful breakfast extra early in the morning to accommodate my early departure. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay.
I appreciated the communication from the owner before arriving in Zimbabwe about the currency situation occurring in the country at the time. It was good to know I needed USD in my wallet on arrival.
The driver they sent to pick me up was also wonderful! Very friendly and accommodating. He drove me around Harare for a quick tour in the rain. The next day he helped me scramble to find transportation to Vic Falls as mine had fallen through.
- philip (10/5): Enjoyed - Very nice and friendly.
Nice breakfast.
Good wifi
- Richard (8/5): Tranquil, but convenient for town - Excellent experience and service faultless. Breakfast only, though other meals can be arranged on a case by case basis.
- Natalie (8/5): Good choice in Harare - Stayed for a few nights between other long-term area visits. Great service. Quiet. Safe neighborhood. Clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good place to stay for a business visit to Harare. Staff are very helpful and friendly and able to help organize taxis, dinner, etc.
The guest-house is in a nice, quiet part of town, is very safe and secure with boom-access security, and is clean and professionally run.
All round, a comfortable and very pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good value for money - Quiet, clean, safe. Great service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Safe, guiet - Every time when a go to Harare I stay here and I always will. Clean, quiet, breakfast ok, feel safe...
- Chanda (6/5): There was NO ELECTRICITY. This was most unpleasant - I had made a reservation for accommodation for one person but was charged for two.I got to the Hotel after 01:00am having driven from Zambia. I found the place in Darkness as there was an electrical fault which had not been rectified by the time I checked out. As a result, there was no hot water available. This ruined my stay. Costa the one man staff there did everything possible to make my stay comfortable and I am grateful. I got a rebate on the room charge which is very noble. So though the electrical fault wasn't the management's fault it didn't change the fact that the facilities were poor.
- meg (10/5): Quiet and comfortable with a lovely garden - I enjoyed my overnight stay here before flying out the next day. The room was large and well-appointed. It opened out to a shared patio overlooking the pool and a lovely garden. In the morning I was served a very good English breakfast at the time I had requested. The staff arranged airport transport for me. It was a relaxing and comfortable stay.
- meg (8/5): Very pleasant, but a bit far from airport, etc - Very nice room and bath. Had a lovely sit on the patio overlooking the garden as the sun went down. Very good substantial breakfast in the morning, ready at the time I had requested the night before. The young man who was on duty was polite and helpful. It is a 15-20 minute drive to the airport, and the airport transfer I assumed was complimentary was not.
