Guest Reviews
- alyona (10/5): - Attention to details The outlet for the heater was loose from the wall. Needs to be screwed into the mount.
- JULIE (8/5): - We like the bathtub and the view from window.
- Greg (7/5): - The view of the homeless camp kind took a lot away from the experience.
- Sue (7/5): It was great for a one night stay! Cute old house closes to town! - We liked that it was close to town where we could walk to most things! Too many homeless people in the area made it loud at night time. Also if too many people are in the house it can be loud with talking and doors closing. Bed needs new mattress that doesn't sink in the middle.
- Avery (4/5): It was a room with a bed, a glum balcony, and a coffee set up in the bathroom. - I have stayed here a few times and enjoy the charm of the old home and decor. I miss the b&b set up. I was not stoked that the coffee station/microwave/ fridge were all in the bathroom… that did not feel sanitary at all. We were also kept up late on both nights due to the neighboring guests. It seemed like a few young children were booked alone in the room next to ours with parents staying elsewhere. They woke in the middle of the night crying for extended periods without anyone checking on them to calm them.
- Connor (10/5): - Great place. It is a shame about that encampment behind your house, but I know that is not your fault at all. Thanks again!
- John (9/5): -
- Rosemarie (10/5): Cute old house right in the middle of all the fun places. - Closeness to downtown The dvd player did not work
- Harrieet (4/5): Disappointing - Was not informed about # of stairs to get to second floor
Refrigerator door would not shut completely so ran all the time
Little heater did not work
TV eat the DVD I put in
Wouldn't come out or go in all the way
Room very cramp
The place just fell short of achieving what goal they were trying to reach
- Aaron (9/5): - Great value. Toilet took some time to reset but worked fine.
- Suze (9/5): - Great location, easy walk to anywhere
- Reilly (10/5): -
- Bret (7/5): Nice place, would probably stay there again. - Nice off street location so it was reasonably quiet. Nice large room, river view, excellent water pressure. Difficult to find our room--their numbering system for the room numbers is really odd and difficult
- Lonnie (7/5): Good location and view, adequate facilities. Very nostalgic facilities - Location Thin walls, Noise from other rooms
- Gregory (9/5): Quaint, Quiet, Cozy! - Cool place. Quaint. Quiet. Thoughtful amenities. Off the beaten track but easy walks to restaurants and the pier. Had the third floor room. Futon instructions were not very helpful. But finally wrestled it into a bed. Not a big deal!
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Dean (4/5): Kinda funny - Short walk to downtown Astoria. Good location. Very quiet. Large bathroom with clawfoot tub. Utensils, plates, and kitchenware all in the bathroom next to toilet. Rodents fighting on back porch. Broken blinds. TV was extremely small, basically unusable. Sex stain on one of the chairs in our room. Ugly decor.
- Christopher (10/5): Had a great stay, manager was very accommodating and the room was excellent - Convenient to downtown, cute, and nicely furnished
- Anne (7/5): great location - clean and comfortable - everything as expected - excellent location - loved the little balcony - comfortable stay - no frills
- Ball (9/5): It was great. - Very nice, the room was great. I had no problems with room.
- Janice (6/5): It was okay. - The antique furnishings add to ambiance but there is a very old smell that comes with them.
The windows were not clean and the fridge froze my half and half.
The sheets and the bathroom were clean. The location was good too.
- Jasmine (8/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): Charming, well-appointed, tremendous views with great restaurants nearby. - View of harbor from room was amazing. Very roomy, with table and wing-back chairs set up to sit and view the boats on the river. So many details attended to that made the place quaint, homey, and comfortable. Even the dishes were real china from the past. Not a thing.
- Carolyn (8/5): -
- Howard (9/5): -
- ronald (10/5): It was good - Good location, cute building, cosy room Nyet
- Hata (9/5): Wonderful stay centrally located to riverfront shops and restaurants - Ease of contact-less check in, comfortable bed and room amenities including view. The sleeping nook was great for me, but my husband had to work at not bumping his head.
- JASON (8/5): A pleasant stay at a charming Victorian era home. - Really enjoyed staying in an elegant Victorian home. Location was great. The air conditioning unit was a much appreciated and there was no noise to speak of - very quiet during our stay. A couple of the lightbulbs were not working, which in the dark was a bit bothersome. Thought they could update their comforters on the bed.

- Elaine (8/5): We love coming here to stay. The quirkiness is what makes it fun. We had a great time visiting and. - The Keirug coffee was a bonus. The location and view are the best. The placement of the bed was off. It's an old (which we love) Victorian house. So the floor slants downhill. The bed would have been more comfortable if placed in downhill direction. It also is looking like not as much maintenance is being done. Bathroom cabinet door coming off hinge. Window blind on door is tearing in pieces. This is not to discourage your stay. But to help management
- Cloud (10/5): Exceptional -
- Troy (9/5): Superb -
- Luonh (7/5): Good -
- Cheryl (6/5): Really enjoyed the location Easy parking. Cute and unique. The aesthetics were better than the functionality. - Location was great; access and parking were easy. Great view. Bed was comfortable enough. Unique Victorian home. House was clean and host had marked things well to ensure ease of stay. Sink in coffee area was out of order. Chairs and futon very uncomfortable. Lighting was poor. One point of ingress and egress only. No fire escape from 3rd floor. Washcloths were thin and well used. Looked rather like rags.
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional - This place was clean, cozy, and absolutely charming! We especially loved the vintage décor — it gave the whole space so much character. Staying on the top floor, we had an amazing view of the river right from the window. The giant clawfoot tub was a dream — I could’ve soaked in it for hours! What a gem. We would have stayed longer if it had been available! Nothing
- Krakauer (9/5): Superb - We did not stay for breakfast The name near the pier is a bit confusing. Took me a minute to figure it out
Good
- Sonya (4/5): Basic bed and bath - The hotel has nothing but deferred maintenance. There was a power strip behind the bed completely full of electrical cords. The lamp next to the bed didn’t work, the outdoor space has weeds in the garden box and overlooked a homeless camp.
There were 2 tea bags and there is no one on sight. The lack of an extra attention to anything. There was a small vase that was growing green slime left by the sink. The washcloth looked like a small doily. It was sad.
- Christine (9/5): Superb -
- Scott (9/5): Recommend overall - Great location, quaint charming hotel Needs privacy screen between patios and the bed was not that comfortable s bit hard for me
- Alexandra (9/5): Superb - So charming! Easy walking to everything in downtown Astoria, lots of lovely little touches.
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Cari (8/5): We loved the house in general. The location was great. - Loved the location. Loved the house and history. We were on the third floor. Would have used a dresser had it been available.
- Ross (7/5): A B&B minus the second "B" but a good option for visiting downtown Astoria. - Nice view and good location. Walkable to downtown Astoria. Small kitchenette was useful. Directions for entry came later than expected (day of). That led to some stress. But ultimately it worked well. It is too bad that a grand old house is not available for a family, though.
- Aaron (9/5): Superb -
- Aaron (8/5): Very good - Nice location
- Kevin (8/5): astoria is way more hip of a town than i realized [lived 37 yrs in Portland] - restored victorian era home. front and rear parlors were nicely done, altho we didnt use them. quiet, everything worked. outside porch would be nice in summer, good views of the city. easy to walk to many restaurants and the Liberty theatre. bed was very comfortable. bathroom roomy, heat pump quiet and efficient, easy to set temps. very slight mildew smell to room. if you are OCD, that angled bed and clawfoot tub tub might drive you nuts :-) but, fine with us. all the door lock codes annoying. i did find the email you sent with the codes on my desktop after i got home, not sure why it didnt appear on my phone.
- Kelle (8/5): Relaxing, Warm & Cozy Visit. Very enjoyable! - The location was great and there was plenty of street parking. Liked the room and the decor, very comfortable and cozy. The common areas were very charming. Lots of clear, good signage, we could find everything we needed. The location was a bit noisy in the early morning hours. We could hear what sounded like a street sweeper, trash trucks very close and a crew trimming trees nearby. It may have just been the particular day were there.
- Albert (8/5): A place that met my needs for an overnight stay - It is an Excellent location and the view of the Columbia River was nice. The room included a small kitchen that was well appointed. the single space heater was inadequate for winter weather. Some obvious places had not been cleaned for a while
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Starbuck (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dylan (10/5): Exceptional - The building was beautiful, and the room felt like something out of a fairy tale! Only complaint I can think of was that the shower felt a bit claustrophobic
- Emma (7/5): Very cool vibe, bring your own towels - The spooky old-timey vibe was very cool. There are some really nice touches you can tell the people who own / manage it have taken care with it. Bed was very comfortable. Great location. Manager was helpful when there was a mix-up with our room. Towels smelled like damp / mould - we didn’t use them. Can hear other guests but it must be hard to soundproof such an old place. Would’ve been nice to have use of the deck / balcony area.
- Meghan (10/5): Very cozy and comfortable. - There is no staff on site. This seemed unusual at first, but when we needed assistance, we were able to contact the staff easily. The place is very cozy, and our rooms were clean and stocked with everything we needed. We had a nice view of the pier and the downtown area from the top room. It felt very homey. Would definitely come back again! No complaints really. You have to park on the street, but there was plenty of space available to park.
- Jennifer (7/5): Generally comfortable, quirky and spacious attic room that was adequate for a one-night stay. - Quaint and vintage and a bit quirky. Parking wasn’t any trouble. I had the attic room. The blinds behind the bed were broken and I couldn’t close them so there was light from the street all night. Both sets of blinds could be more opaque for better sleep. Pillows were also very flat and could use replacing.
- C (7/5): Good - Air quality.
Smelled a bit old and 'catty'
- Roberts (7/5): Good -
- Cristi (6/5): Pleasant - This was a good location for things to do in town. Easy check in. It was all clean and did have a lot of personal touches, like grandma's house. Our room was pretty small and the claw foot tub was awkward. Some people love the quaintness of historic feeling places but I know now it isn't for me personally. The bed was very soft and just an uncomfortable space in general. Maybe a larger room/bed would have been different.
- Veronica (7/5): Quirky, comfortable spot for a quick stay - Nice spot for a one-night stay. It's walkable to the business area in town, with a comfortable (if small) bed and charming eclectic vibe. That said, it has mega haunted energy, which could be a pro or a con, depending on your vibe. Astoria is also an amazing spot to stay if you're driving the coast — the town is full of local businesses with a lot of character, rather than the kind of desolate resort vibe of Seaside. The walls were very thin. As a light sleeper, I was woken up when another party came back to the hotel and started playing piano (??). The floors also creaked when they walked around. Again, mega haunted energy, which contributed to keeping me up after hearing these noises lol.
- Melvin (8/5): Delightful for people who like period rooms - A Victorian home updated with modern features while retaining the period feel. The down stairs sitting room was particularly delightful. There is no staff at house. All entry codes to building and room are by email. Works well. Bed was great even though rooms are small as is typical of homes of this era. However, the bathrooms upgrades provided plenty of space and a clawfoot tub/shower. There is a balcony on some rooms, sadly hard to see the bay due to other buildings. It is reasonable walking distance to main commercial street, although it is a bit of a climb back up. Plenty of parking in church lot next door. No elevator and stairs are steep. Good hand rails though. A/C- heater unit in my room fan ran all the time (maintenance person is checking out unit per note from manager) Became white noise to me, but could bother some people. Water pressure in shower was OK, although could be inadequate for long dense hair. The clawfoot tube is period perfect- however it can be hard to get into for persons of limited mobility.
- Jeannie (8/5): Lovely - Room was very charming and decorated with lots of lovely touches Could not get TV to work. Get it set up and provide note for usage
- David (2/5): Cannot recommend this place and will never consider staying here again. - Location was the only redeeming factor but I can't recommend this place and will never stay here again. Plumbing infrastructure needs a serious upgrade and refresh. Home was built in 1900 and the air inside seemed like it hadn't been exchanged since then. Vintage furniture is one thing but the furniture in our rooms just looked tired and old, not functional.
- Louise-annette (10/5): Charming, cozy, vintage feel in a quiet residential neighborhood. - Beautiful old home filled with charming antiques and modern conveniences. Thoughtful touches throughout. I loved the glow in the dark stars above the bed! Based on the name, I thought it would be near a pier. Instead, it was up the hill inland. I didn't mind the location but it is not near any piers.
- Kathleen (8/5): We loved overlooking the town and being able to walk to the Sunday Market, etc. Romantic, fun and spacious!! - Loved sitting in the big window with two comfy chairs watching the ships come in and out. Cute and quaint, good use of attic space. We loved the space! Need railing on all stairs. While there was a fire extinguisher present, only one way out in case of fire. Should be a ladder present to go out the bathroom window in case the third floor stairs are blocked.
- Miranda (4/5): Very disappointing. - Location was wonderful. All aspects of the town were within walking distance. Because the location was slightly on a hill, view of the water and surrounding area was very nice. Checking in and out was simple. Building overall was very disappointing. Musty smell throughout the building and room. You could tell that the bed sheets were laundered but were very old, had areas of thread wear and had stains. Porch and outdoor deck were almost completely unusable due to worn paint, exposed splinters and the entire area, including furniture, being covered in bird droppings. Televison and microwave were extremely outdated and difficult to use. Dishes and silverware provided were dirty with crusty grime (possibly old food) stuck to the plates and on the inside of the cups. Corners of the bathroom were caked with dirt, areas of the wall and floor showed signs of mold and wall paper was peeling in areas. What should have been a charming and retro environment was simply old, musty and in need of repair.
- Rita (9/5): Superb -
- Kristen (10/5): Exceptional - This room was very cozy and unique compared to standard hotel rooms. This was an old house where all the rooms were turned into suites. We stayed in room 362, which was the very top floor. Everything was laid out so thoughtfully. There is a seating area in front of a large window overlooking Astoria and the water. There are thoughtful signs explaining various items like the futon, for instance.
I wouldn't put these in the dislike section, but to more to make note for anybody interested in staying. It is an old house and all the rooms are up a flight of stairs. Our room also had an extra flight of stairs behind the door. The room also has a smell you might experience from going to your grandma's house, which wasn't a bad smell. It wasn't bothersome, and you acclimate to it fast.
Highly recommend this hotel. It was a very charming house and room!
- Judy (9/5): Superb -
- Judy (9/5): Charming quaint little stay takes you back to simpler times. - It was charming. Great location! Wish they had little breakfast to sit and enjoy the downstairs.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Sheri (9/5): Highly recommend. - Location was great. 5 min walk to restaurants and shops. House had so much character, very clean and cozy. Nothing. Would stay here again.
- Judy (5/5): Would not go back. - View from room. Furnishings were fairly comfortable. Coffee maker didn't work. Fold out bed didn't fold out completely.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - It's was overall splendid
- Zinser (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (9/5): A wonderful place to visit and stay - A really delightful place to stay - and our room (almost a suite?) on the top floor was outstanding Plugs in basin and bath not working. Otherwise no complaints at all.
- David (9/5): We’d stay there again. It added flavor to our Astoria stay. - Very quaint, historical building. Good location. Quiet. We were on the third floor. I should have mention we’re in our 70’s. Climbing was a bit of an issue. Better brand of coffee 😉
- Robin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Neil (8/5): Good place, nice sleeping. - The charm and the view. Little stuffy.
- Frank (10/5): Exceptional - The VIEW ! The room's t.v. location !
It was 'inside' a cabinet, AND 'small !'
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Sean (7/5): Good - No breakfast There is a step outside the upstairs bedroom that my spouse and I both tripped on because it is not marked and is in an awkward place right outside the room door. My spouse and I were both slightly injured and when we told the hotel they just agreed to mark the area in the future but did not seem to care about what happened to us
- Atsushi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sven (9/5): Superb -
- Kaylee (10/5): Quaint and sweet - We stayed in the top floor room, it had an incredible view, the cutest little bathroom with a clawfoot cast iron tub. We had a great time. The location was a perfect walk to all the local shops.
- Eugene (9/5): Superb -
- Pepper (8/5): Very good -
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (6/5): Good location and adequate for the price. - It is in a good location close to restaurants and the main road. The house has character and the check in was easy. This facility is an old house which suffers the challenges of old houses such as thin walls, lack of electrical outlets and tired furnishings.
- Marion (5/5): Great location but due to the flies and bed we would not stay here again. - The decor was unique. The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows stiff and hard. There were lots of annoying little black flies, they were bothersome at night. The shower curtain did not completely cover the tub and there appears to be mold on the floor behind the bathtub faucets.
- Conklin (9/5): Superb -
- Boris (9/5): Superb -
- Jeanne (7/5): Good - Good location near downtown area. Quiet. Comfortable bed. This was an old house that is converted to guest rooms. The property is showing its age. Deck off room needed to be swept off and some interior room furnishings could use some TLC. Yet, the house served the purpose of a decent place to stay.
- Cynthia (9/5): Superb - No breakfast was included. However, it was within walking distance to many places. Shower could be a bit bigger!!
- Linda (10/5): This was a great base from which to explore this lovely area! Charming room and super comfortable bed! - The decor was so interesting, like stepping back in time. Loved the claw foot tub! NA
- Rosaria (9/5): Charming place in Astoria - The building and the room have an incredible charm! They did a very good job in keeping the style of the time through the decor as well. They added useful features like a minibar with a coffee machine and minifridge. I would definitely stay there again if we pass through Astoria. The place is old, and so is the carpet; despite the place being quite clean, you can definitely smell the old carpet.
