Guest Reviews
- David (8/5): This is a great location with some traffic noise. - The price was affordable. The room was newly refurbished and in excellent condition. The check-in process was easy. The pool was not in operation. The neighbors were a little loud in the morning.
- LeRoy (9/5): -
- David (1/5): Worst motel stay of my life. I’m a world traveler, and this is the worst property I’ve ever set foot on. The owners are - Terrible place and horrible people who run and own the mother load motel. The owners were terrible people to deal with. The bed was from 1965 with springs in it. There was black mold in the rooms. The owners were falsely accusatory towards myself and profiled me because I’m a musician. I always stay there for a few hours very late night till morning and it was the worst day of any place I’ve ever stayed in my life. I would compare the rooms to a prison Cell. Honestly, I would not send my worst enemy to this motel. I would love to have my money back. It’s a horrible place.
- Todd (5/5): -
- David (1/5): - They gave away my room. All of the other hotels were sold out I need a refund I need a refund
- Rachel (9/5): Newly renovated room, very clean, and quiet at night. - Friendly and welcoming hosts Pillows were quite large - difficult to sleep on. Pillow variation would be helpful.
- Griffeth (10/5): -
- sean (8/5): I would stay again! - There was no breakfast. Location was close to event! Clean room. uncomfortable bed and pillows. No plug in for phones.
- Jose (10/5): -
- Christina (9/5): -
- James (4/5): Grateful to be out of the wet and cold snow. - Was out of the snow storm. Bathroom door didn't close, shower didn't open, wifi was out, heater didn't warm until 5am, had to sleep in coats, carpet was dirty. Had to register at one facility then drive back to this motel. The attendant was very rude. It's a very old property, but they are in process of remodeling.

- Patricia (10/5): Lovely place! - Same as previous review!! .
- Patricia (10/5): Lovely stay! - People running it were awesome, clean, beautiful garden and pool! Zip
- Sheila (7/5): - Na Na
- Vivian (6/5): - The town. The mattress was very hard. Made it hard to fall asleep.
- Krystle (4/5): - Location was close to downtown. I asked for an extra bed and didn't get one. And they were not ready for me so I had to wait and this was 2 hrs after check in.
- sylvie (7/5): - Small rooms. This a motel for workers mostly much activity early morning.
- cecile (3/5): Moyen - Pas grand chose. Pas de couette mais une vieille couverture. Moquette au sol. Pas de Wi-Fi. Pas de petit-déjeuner. À distance du centre.
- Glenna (7/5): - I left my water bottle and when we returned we found out the house cleaner had saved it. Thank you!
- Kristin (9/5): - It was a great location, easy to find and next to the highway but not to close that it was noisy. The rooms were clean. Can't think of anything that I didn't like
- Ramona (7/5): It was in the perfect location for our one night stay. - I didn't see any breakfast but I hadn't counted on eating at the motel. The room was very small. We had a queen bed (very comfortabe); the sheets were very nice although we could have used an additional blanket.
- Wendy (5/5): - Convenient Small rooms
- Barbara (8/5): We liked the convenience of location to town and Apple Hill. Good value for the money. - Room was exceptionally clean; staff friendly and helpful.
- ken (4/5): - no computer charge circuits. only one bed stand, no clothes closet...it was bare minimum standards...some of the furniture very worn out, no cups or supplies for coffee, ....
- Patricia (10/5): -
- Veronica (7/5): What we expected based off what we paid. Nice pool. - Their pool was exceptionally clean. It was the reason we booked this budget hotel and we were pleased with it. It's an old hotel so with that said, old buildings, carpet, furniture, etc. The bedding could be updated and it would make a big difference. However, it all appeared to be clean.
- kelly (6/5): -
- Patricia (9/5): -
- Glenn (10/5): Deepak was awesome -
- Jeffery (4/5): - My room was double-booked with a suitcase in the room. The office was at another location, so I had to call. When no one answered I left a message. But no one ever contacted me and several hours later the other party showed, was surprised, and took her suitcase. I bolted the door after that.
Very dated room, very dated procedures. Would not recommend this motel to anyone.
- LeRoy (9/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): -
- Jerry (4/5): - The pool was clean
The grounds were nice They charged us 50 dollars for our service animal.
The room was very low class and not very clean
- Bear (8/5): -
- Vickie (10/5): - Nice updates to an aged property, nice pool too
- Flavianne (8/5): -
- Mark (6/5): I probably would not stay there again due to bad wifi and distance from services. - Friendly check in up the road at their other motel. Room was clean and comfortable. Landscaping around motel was pleasant and there was plenty of places to relax on a bench around the pool or on the lawn. Wifi was weak and unpredictable. Location is a bit far away from things.
- Helen (7/5): Our stay was good for a night, not ba for a motel, at least the room we stayed in. - The property/room was decent, it looked like it was recently updated: new bathroom floor tiles, sink, toilet, and shower, clean. Brand new towels. There is a pool as well. The office was relocated to another site down the block because of renovation going on. The ironing board in the room didn’t have the padding, it was bare. No face tissue also. Carpet seems old need updating.
- Heider (10/5): -
- Lisa (4/5): We left instead of staying a second night - The office was closed for renovation so we had to check in at the property just up the road. The included breakfast was a stale, packaged pastry that I got at check-in. Booked a double queen room but the beds were just full size. Both my kids hurt their feet on the exposed tack strip on the edge of the threshold into the bathroom so we covered it with a towel. The shower curtain was on the ground, the shelf in the shower had been ripped off, showing exposed concrete, and the inside of the bathroom door was missing a bunch of paint (likely from a pet that was locked inside). We were planning to stay 2 nights but decided to just drive home after a long day of river rafting rather than stay a second night. I will say the grass area and garden are quite pretty.
- Georgia (8/5): I think the hotel was adequate for the price. It was very convenient to the freeway. - I loved the remodel. Floor and shower in bathroom was beautiful. Nice paint job. Great little refrigerator and so pleased there was a freezer with it as I have a foot problem and needed to freeze water bottles to do my exercises. I did not use the TV.. no time or the pool, but the pool looked lovely. The grounds were well kept and flowering. Very pretty. There needs to be a table or something in the bathroom to hold cosmetic bags and personal items. There is not counter space around the sink and since there was no toilet lid, I could not even put things on the back of the toilet for fear they would fall in. I also suggest adding a comfortable plastic or water proof chair of some kind in the bathroom as well, because if I had been handicapped, I would have had no place to sit down to dry off except the bed. The chair in the shower would not have been sufficient. I do not think you want wet persons sitting on the bed. There was not a continental breakfast or hot breakfast as in other hotels in Folsom. But I did pay about $30 less per night, so eating in a diner the next morning was still within my budget. A breakfast there at the hotel would have been more convenient.
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leroy (8/5): Very good -
- Peterson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Holly (6/5): Rundown, old, minimal standard room. No amenities and you can hear your neighbors. - I had to switch properties because Internet did not work. The rooms are old and some furniture has missing screws. “Breakfast” is stale packaged danish. You have to make your own coffee in the room with a cheap single coffee machine. No napkins are provided. It was basic lodging if you are in a bind. See above
- Kelly (6/5): - The handicap room #1 is not very accessible. No room around the bed for a wheelchair. No bars in the shower. Shower head is on the opposite wall of the bench seat. There is also no removable shower head to wash person. The water does not even reach the person. Our second room a/c did not work. They brought in a fan and said that was all they could do. The staff was kind but the actual rooms were not great. One plus is the pool is clean and beautiful.
- Stephens (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional - Newly remodeled room & bathroom
Nice landscaping with many flowers. Lawn to walk dog
- Robert (10/5): - Pleasant check in experience
Small room but clean
- Komoki (8/5): - We stay here every time we are in town. They are friendly and the rooms are simple but nice.
- Lewis (4/5): Disappointing - Comfortable queen bed. Microwave and refrigerator Office was closed. Had to go to property down the road to check in. Wifi was terrible. Heater was noisy but it did work.
- Michael (8/5): - Ease to access . Short distance off the highway. Food etc is about 2 miles away.
- Robert (8/5): Small but Clean - The place is easy to find; rooms are simple, nothing fancy but clean. Bed was comfortable and they offered a breakfast but we didn't partake of it. We've stayed here before and have never been disappointed.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Marye L (10/5): - Remodeled room was beautiful and peaceful with view of nature and swimming pool
- Sarah (3/5): Bottom of the barrel type motel - Not much to like. It was clean. Bed was horrible. Staff was rude- we didn’t even know where to go because there was construction and an unclear sign to the office. They charged an astronomical amount for one dog. Really a bottom of the barrel place.
- Robert (8/5): Comfy sleep at a good price - Better value than South Shore Tahoe motels. Great mattress, sheets and bedding, great sleep.
- Luke (9/5): Superb -
- Monica (4/5): Great price but unsafe - I was traveling for medical reasons. I needed a place to sleep for the night. I chose this hotel for the price and boy did I pay. In most ways this hotel was fine, but… I cut my foot badly on a staple sticking out of the floor in front of the bathroom door. There was black mold in the bathroom on the walls above the shower, and my coffee pot did not work. it still had the coffee and water in it from the person who was in the room before me and they tried to make coffee and it didn’t work for them either. I wish I had taken pictures now, but I was hoping to get a resolution from the owner when I checked out and I did not, so here is my honest review.
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Jessie (4/5): - Staff wasn’t the best, there was also a language barrier, it was also said breakfast was included but they said they don’t have that service.
- KAI-YUAN (10/5): - Cheap
- Jana (7/5): Good -
- Christopher (10/5): Get Mother Loded for a great value and enjoy a comfortable budget stay in Placerville - The Mother Lode delivered with great value for the money. Perfect budget spot for a wedding weekend with friends. Newly renovated rooms and a nice pool area made the stay very comfortable. Short drive to central Placerville.
- Salina (9/5): Mother Lode Motel is a perfect place to stay for visiting the area. - The property is a perfect place for what we was visiting the area for. Room was clean except for a couple spiders my husband had to kill in the corner of the wall where are bed we was sleeping on. Beds were clean just not comfy at all it felt like the springs was in my back.
- Dennis (6/5): It was a good value and appreciated too. - It was clean, comfortable, adequate. No frills. It was fine for my stay. I’m not impressed by hotel/motels that charge exorbitant expenses for a shower and place to sleep. Thank you Mother Load Motel and Bookings dot com! The show leaked out onto the bathroom floor.
- Joe (7/5): Good -
- John (1/5): I would NEVER stay in that place again - Nothing Everything
- Nathan (10/5): - Very friendly and welcoming place,i wouldn't hesitate to go back again
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Stephanie (5/5): Passable -
- Maybelle (3/5): Poor -
- Clinton (8/5): Kind of happy but maybe not. - The motell was under renovation and the office was closed. We had to drive to the other hotel up the road just a few feet away. When i checked in they did not have the King bed we asked for at the hotel i requested that was close to the pool but the offered us a room with two queen beds at the same price so we took that. The AC worked but it was realy loud so when it would come on every 10 minutes it would wake you up. There were construction workers staying there and at 5 am they were out side tallking very loud and they had their stereo up with the doors open not to mention the backup beepers. When there is a parking lot on the other side of the property the could make as much noise as they want.
- Ed (6/5): - The room door did not lock. Big gap at the door jamb. Literally did not lock. Pushed it open as I went to slide the key in. Had to change rooms. The breakfast (as advertised included) is one danish and “coffee in your room” as the woman stated at the front desk as she handed me the danish (did give me 2 of them;). She and her husband were very kind and moved my room and said that someone stayed on that room the night before with no problems.
- Lizeth (7/5): Good -
- Robert (4/5): - This property was older which is no problem if the proper maintenance is done. The ice machine did not work, the pool had a pad lock on the gate, the office was closed for renovations (which were not currently being done) and you have to travel up the road to another motel to use their office. On the positive side, the a/c was cold and since we ended up in a wheel-chair friendly room our shower was nice and roomy. Good location but we would not stay there again.
- Teri Maria (2/5): - I would not recommend this place. If Expedia wants to stay a reputable place they need to let this place go.
- William (6/5): - Not a lot of people carpet was really old and dirty
- Darci (7/5): Good -
- Jeff (8/5): Very good -
- Carlton (5/5): Good location an hour outside of Tahoe. - The pool looks nice and the shower and towels were great. The TV remote only worked for volume and on/off there was no way to change channels, so I was stuck with the home improvement channel.
- Joe (1/5): will not return - location staff was very rude, bugs in the room blankets had burn marks on them! ac barley worked
- Wallace (8/5): - Great pool and clean comfortable room.
- Vanessa (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (4/5): I would not recommend this Motel for family's. - Staff were helpful, pool was spotless. Rooms were very old and carpet was stained which gave the rooms an odour. Had two teenaged granddaughters staying in another room and they said they didn't feel safe.
- Leo (1/5): Bad - I prepaid thru booking .com. When I got to property it was early in the morning, like
- Aljaž (5/5): Passable -
- Richard (10/5): Fantastic !! - They have recently completed a major renovation and EVERYTHING was new, even down to the towels and coffee pot. The pool and garden are well maintained and clean.
- Michele (10/5): Go to spot for Apple Hill - Close to all of the farms as well as historic downtown. Always have a nice time staying here.
- John (6/5): - Nice place, pleasant stay
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stover (2/5): We won’t be back - Bathroom floors were sticky, carpet was sticky (wet) Room stunk. Mattress was cheep or shot. Rolled to center. Threw all clothes in the laundry because everything reeked.
