Sean (6/5): Bad bed and no parking - Bed wasn’t very comfortable as it was 2 single mattresses pushed together so there was a hard lump in the middle they also kept moving apart. No parking at all 1 night I had to park on the other side of town. Take this into account if you are expecting parking close by, you may get lucky but most of the time you won’t.

Rebecca (8/5): Good stay - This hotel is a very old building with lots of history but with that means there are some quirks and you should not stay here if you you dislike years of use shown in slightly uneven floors, steps, windows. But, if like us you find these quirks charming then this is a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in Room 2 which is situated facing the river with three windows to view this from - one in the bathroom if you like a view whilst on the throne!! The rooms are not air-conditioned but a fan was located in the room when we arrived and once the windows had been opened and the fan pointing out of one window to draw push the hot air out, the room was cool in minutes! In the morning though, the room was very warm as the sun shone through all 3 windows. The shower is lovely but pressure is lacking. There is almost limited surfaces to put items on, even the kettle and drinks facilities were tiny - my personal choice would be to remove the wardrobe and provide a few hooks on the wall and put a small table and 2 chairs in the room but what works for us might not work for all and the room was workable for us for 1 night. The bed and pillows were VERY comfortable - i slept the best I have in several weeks! Overall, i enjoyed my stay here and woukd stay here for 1 night again in the future but for a longer duration I would most likely look for somewhere with the additional surface space. The restaurant here was also lovely and sitting by the river enjoying a drink was wonderful.
Jayne (8/5): Just falls short due to a couple of ’niggles’ - Staff that we encountered seemed to give different information about breakfast. On enquiring about format we were told ‘ 9 ish’ no set price as we could select from menu, however on taking breakfast full English was only option. It was a good breakfast but had to chase staff for a cup, more tea/coffee, only gave 2 cubes of sugar ?? If you wanted an early start 9/9.30 is too late . Lovely room in a lovely location but again some small niggles. Had to provide our own shampoo/ shower gel, security door wasn’t secure (always open).

I was traveling alone and felt very safe at The Swan The room was very pleasant with a nice river view and bed very comfy. Rhys (10/5): Riverside find - For a 400 year old hotel the room was very well fitted out and comfortable with the bonus of sofa and two armchairs. Quiet despite town centre riverside location. Staff very helpful. Excellent evening meal of steak and chips and not overpriced. Good spot for exploring this area

Jacqueline (10/5): Great stay. Great view of the river. - Lovely location great view of the river from our room. Room was lovely and clean. Hand wash and shower gel was provided and smelt lovely, good to see no single use little bottles. We arrived a little early but the room was ready so we were able to check in. We had dinner in the hotel and it was perfectly acceptable for pub grub. Outside seating area was really nice for an afternoon drink and lunch. Tasty breakfast, had the full English and there was plenty of it and freshly cooked.

Nic (8/5): Great spot in a nice town - Lovely spot on the river - Upton is a really nice little town, with lots of pubs and places to eat. Comfy, clean room. Caveats: parking was easy but very limited (on no-through road), so may get tricky when town is busier. Radiator in bathroom slightly hotter than the sun - a good thing but be careful.

Great room with a really comfortable bed, a decent bath and shower. Food was good old pub fayre and it was very nice. We'd come back again anytime.

Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that but it looked very nice when I walked past the breakfast room. Room had a beautiful view of the river. Will definitely stay here again. Would love to do so in the summer as perfect venue for al fresco dining by the river. Parking can be a issue but always a spot to find nearby. Think this can be a issue wherever you stay in town.

Breakfast was exceptionally good, well cooked and presented. Only downside was the very limited bar menu in the evening. This could be due to covid.

Great riverside seating and a lovely bar. The room was great and had everything required plus a great view up the river. Check-in and service throughout was great. Chris (10/5): Room with the best view - We stayed for one night and chose the attic room which had the best views in Upton. The hotel is very old so the room was sloping one way then sloped the other, and with low wooden beams ceiling that you have to be careful of but this is why I chose this hotel. The history. Fantastic beer garden which is right on the river and is a suntrap. Plus there are another 4 or 5 pubs within a 30 second walk from the hotel. Really nice guy who showed us the room too. Visited during covid 19 but the hotel did a great job with cleanliness and social distancing. Definitely recommend.

Dean (10/5): OUTSTANDING Customer service. - Not met anyone as accommodating as Debbie, who was 'front of house'. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble. The owner moved cars so we could park, we were given local information on walks, our dog was treated like a paying guest ... we felt so welcome. The room was clean and large. The evening meal in the Swan Inn (pub) was great value for money. Breakfast was great (good quality bacon and sausages). Just to reiterate, all the staff were outstanding. Polite, helpful, down to earth and went above and beyond to make us feel so welcome ... 'Debbie' exemplifies customer service... That is why we booked to stay again before leaving, with the added bonus of the Upton Jazz festival being on as well.

The only issue was that at the back window, was a terrace where someone was playing with a big dog, so you felt over looked, had to have the window shut a curtain closed, then outside the front window were all the air con/extraction units which were very loud until about 11pm.
Grant (10/5): Little Gem - If you like very old hotels this is the place to stay. Very friendly staff, comfortable rooms. You may need to get in early for a parking spot but this Hotel is a little gem for a stay not to far from Birmingham.

Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place but overpriced for pub accommodation - Friendly reception /bar staff , cosy , warm , comfortable downstairs areas , Lovley view onto river and a lovley town . Beds were comfortable and good quality bedding . Room very clean . Down sides are breakfast buffet poor , just cereal and juice only., Cooked breakfast was large ,.cooked well but poor quality meat in our opinion ,tasteless bacon and sausage but scrambled egg was fabulous , really tasty and toast was thick and tasty too but we were disappointed at £10 a head as we travel a lot and 4 star hotels don't always charge as much and lot more choice and .flavour . Also rooms are clean and comfy and have everything you need , tissues , slippers , good tea tray with biscuits but for the money they charged in January rooms are small with mismatched basic furniture and an overwhelming smell of shake and vac .we paid £79 for room and withe breakfast it cost £99 which is very expensive for 3 star pub accommodation .. I have tried to be as honest as I can with our stay review , if the total had been £79 we would have been more then happy as overall enjoyed our stay .

Arrived and was speedily looked after, totally individual service, shown to my room and how everything worked and their H&S process. Highly impressed and will definitely stay again. Room was quaint and quiet. I got the feeling they have a clear ethos of 'customer comes first'.

mary (8/5): riverside hotel - Lovely hotel overlooking the riverside if you have a front facing room we had a room at the back overlooking a block of flats the room was very small you had trouble walking around in it very cramped indeed but apart from that it was ok breakfast was huge much to much if I had known I would have had cereal and toast really good value for money like I said the only downside was the size of the room everything else was fine

Michael (10/5): Lovely realxing short break - A comfortable old inn on the riverside at Upton-on-Severn. Easy check-in, very friendly staff who helped with parking, quite difficult as no dedicated spaces for the hotel and yellow lines everywhere. Beautiful decorated double aspect room with views over the river, with very comfortable bed. Toiletries provided and tea/coffee/biscuits etc. The room was quite small, as was the shower (no bath), and water took ages to run hot. No way to turn on heating in the bedroom or towel rail, felt rather cold in the evening as we got caught in the rain. Did not eat there so can't comment on the food.

Kate snd Steve (10/5): Right on the river. Lovely staff, wonderful room. - Lovely old pub right on the river ( we saw the resident kingfisher!). We were made to feel like locals by Ralph, the landlord. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Food was great with very generous portions. Can't recommend this place enough. We will definitely be going back.

Tim (10/5): Superb location - Upton is a quaint town with hidden gems, and The Swan Hotel is perfectly located to explore the surrounds. Very welcoming and dog friendly, superb breakfast and spotlessly clean. From the hotel there are a number of great walks, and only a short drive to Great Malvern with walks along the ridge.
Tony (10/5): Lovely hotel - Lovely small hotel in a picturesque location next to the river and just a short walk to the centre if town. Very welcoming and efficient. Very clean room and a hearty and we'll cooked breakfast. Recommended.
Anne (10/5): Great hotel by the River Severn - Very friendly staff, extremely helpful and kind. We took our dog with us, and they were very tolerant, although she was very well behaved anyway!! The room was very clean and comfortable and a good size. Breakfast was delicious, and large!! Lunch was unnecessary as a result!!
