Guest Reviews
- Anne (8/5): - Staff made it feel like a home in all regards. I stayed 1 night for business and got what I needed. A extremely clean, quiet, spacious room be it in an extremely small location Digging hard here... but it might have been nice to be informed upfront that the facade was having scaffolding - however it didn't lower my opinion
- David (7/5): Good value, but in need of refurbishment - An attractive and very old (17th century) building with some interesting timbers and possibly original staircase. Staff were friendly although service was slow and locals at the bar got priority attention. The Sunday evening menu was limited, but the roast chicken was very good and breakfast was the best we had during our five-night, four-hotel trip. The thick slices of bacon and freshly-fried eggs were particularly good. Our room was spacious and had a lovely fresh smell to it. Our beds were very soft and uncomfortable and the pillows were too hard, making for a tricky night's sleep.
The shower in Room 2 is very small (not at all like the photo on the website) and badly in need of refurbishment. The shower is mounted on a pedestal which is 15 inches (38cm) high and very difficult to get in and out of. There was no grab-handle to hold and it was verging on being dangerous.
- Peter (9/5): -
- Roger (9/5): great value quiet well run Hotel -
- Sallian (8/5): - The bed was really comfortable No shower on the room only a bath
- Philip (8/5): - Evening meal was very good, full of flavour and served hot.
- Julie (10/5): Great hotel with good food and excellent friendly staff - Evening meal and breakfast very good.Excellent friendly service. No problems at all.
- Humphrey (10/5): -
- Diane (10/5): Fabulous - Fabulous place. Room was massive and very well kept. Also included a sofa, which was great.
Bed very comfy, good temperature. Staff were lovely, very accommodating. Food great. Difficult to park as car park very small, but there is on-street parking.
TV wasn't working, but think this was due to work being done to outside and didn't bother us for our stay.
- Jane (10/5): - Great hotel, old world charm full of character with beamed rooms, well maintained and clean. Food was excellent and quick service. Own car park at rear of hotel.
- Jade (9/5): Lovely stay in a traditional Hotel - Lovely traditional hotel, big comfortable bed and room and a delicious breakfast with good quality produce
- julie (9/5): -
- John (8/5): - The dinner was lovely, with generous helpings. As a vegetarian I had three choices, so thank you.
The breakfast was good, but could have been bettered by Continental items - croissants, natural yogurt, fruits, etc.
Nice room, though two chairs, plus a different location of the TV screen, would have helped.
- Sandra (8/5): -
- Bev (9/5): - Lovely historic pub. The evening meal and bread were superb. Good bar prices too Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Roger (9/5): Lovely staff, great food and cosy stay. - Spacious and cosy. Kettle needs replacing due to scale build-up and discolouration of plastic contaminating the water.
- Charis (5/5): -
- Robert (8/5): Udany pobyt đ - Lokalizacja ,czysto w pokoju i bardzo dobre jedzenie i klimatyczna restauracja Po bardzo upalnym dniu nie moĹźna byĹo otworzyÄ okna
- Graham (10/5): -
- Duncan (9/5): -
- Susan (10/5): Sue.richard and colin the dog - Lovely hotel. The manager and chef were so polite and helpful and friendly. Service was excellent and the breakfast was excellent would recommend a visit..perfect Nothing to dislike
- Clair Palmer (7/5): Cheap and cheerful getaway, great staff - Comfortable beds, pillows etc, everything we needed in the room and staff were warm and friendly. It was really noisy above the restaurant, we could hear every conversation going on all at once. The food in the restaurant was ok. Breakfast was average. Could do with some more plug sockets in the room, maybe by the bed so you could plug stuff in. Had to either turn the TV off to charge stuff or not use the kettle. One more double socket by the bed would solve that inconvenience.
- Michelle (10/5): - The staff were lovely, great food and choice of drink and it catered for all tastes! The bar was very lively and dining room quieter, so you could move to wherever you fancied! The rooms were really comfortable and I had possibly the best night of sleep I had! Nothing....it really was a wonderful visit!
- Mark (9/5): - Staff Rain, rain, rain....
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Darren (7/5): Was ok but probably wouldnât visit again if we was in the area - Good location Some of the staff could have been more friendly, the hotel is a bit mis matched , donât offer any alternative milks ( should be standard )
- Przemyslaw (10/5): -
- Tony (9/5): - As soon as we got there we were greeted by a friendly staff member who checked us in and explained everything to us. Another member of staff showed us to our room which was very good. All meals we had were very generous in size and absolutely delicious. If we are in the area again Cain Valley Hotel will be our choice of accommodation. Nothing, it was great.
- Debbie (9/5): -
- Baker (8/5): -
- Nick (8/5): -
- Nigel (8/5): Good 1 night stay on our motorbike tour. - Great location, clean comfortable room, good food & value for money. The waiter serving food in the evening & at breakfast really didnât act as if he wanted to be there.
- Benjamin (10/5): -
- Mrs Jennifer (7/5): Good value for money if you are fit - Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable. Dinner was very nice.. This hotel is not suitable for people with mobility problems as there are no lifts and as there were no handrails on the stairs I found them difficult to negotiate. We would have also appreciated some easy chairs in the lounge bar..
- Duncan (9/5): -
- Neil (8/5): Waterfalls and walking weekend - Staff easy check in no problems asked for breakfast before it opened as starting walk early made me big sausage and bacon batch great location few pubs in village all friendly Pillow was to hard that of been used to soft oneđ
- Roger (10/5): Friendly staff, spotless room, very good prices, great food and friendly staff. - The gammon steak was exceptional - very thick, very little fat and not tough. Chips and two fried eggs - nice and hot. Breakfast was with many trimmings. The taste of the fried breakfast suggests that it is local butcher meat.
- Tamasine (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing food. Clean. Excellent location for exploring. Easy parking.
- Jayne (10/5): - Great pub with rooms, the room was comfortable and clean too. We ate there in the evening and the food was lovely, I had the welsh lamb and it was excellent. The cooked breakfast in the morning was amazing too, really good sausages. The staff were very friendly too. Nothing.
- CRAIG (10/5): -
- Lorenda (7/5): Good but needs some reviving in the heating in bedroom and bathroom - The food was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful The bedroom was on the cold side and the bathroom radiator wasn't working
- Steve (10/5): Well worth visiting and value for money - We stayed on bed and breakfast and the breakfast was excellent. A good variety of things and very plentiful. Kept us well fed for most of the day. Always served quickly and nice and hot. Location was good for us close to Welshpool, Powys Castle and friends we were visiting. Not a lot in the village, but it has a chip shop and Chinese takeaway, and a well stocked spar shop. Meals in the hotel in the evening looked good but we ate out during the day so didnât try them. Only down side is you couldnât get into the hotel until 3pm as all locked up.
- Dorothy (8/5): Quiet and good breakfast - Lovely Didn't use anything else
- Adrian (7/5): -
- Colin (6/5): -
- Nick (9/5): I would stay again in the future ! đ - Character old building in centre of town lots of quirks ! Friendly staff happy to oblige!
Restaurant food was good quality and fair price and breakfast very good ! đ
Bedroom large and bed comfortable with modern shower room ! Nothing
- Stephen (8/5): -
- JILL (8/5): - Breakfast was fine. No fruit on offer, and the only bread was brown or white toast. Hot breakfast was cooked to order, poached eggs were very good.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Good - Great breakfast. Good location in lovely valley. Lovely room with lots of character and staff were all lovely. Dinner was not great and I found the room a bit too cold. Also there was a handle on the en suite door but no latch so couldn't close it.
- Leigh (6/5): -
- Jan (8/5): -
- leendert (10/5): - All Wifi was bad
- Jones (9/5): A little gem of a hotel - A lovely old rustic hotel..staff friendly and accommodating..good choice of drinks in the bar and quality food.
The bedroom was nicely decorated and spacious.
Extremely clean The shower is very small especially if you are on the larger size but wouldn't stop us from booking again
- Kevin (10/5): Will definitely be coming back - A lovely sized room with super comfortable bed and a nice freshly cooked breakfast
- Craig (9/5): Great value for money would stay again if in the area - The staff was great , we just got a new dog and they were so welcoming.
- Barry (8/5): - Friendly staff and great breakfast. The hotel was very cold particularly in the dining room at dinner time.
- Dani (9/5): Brilliant - Great food. We left early mornings so had to pre order breakfast all was ready on time. We ate 2 nights and food was brilliant both times. Large rooms and comfortable.

- Heiko (8/5): -
- Oren Kipnis (8/5): The right place to stay when visiting Llanfyllin - The room was OK, and the shower was excellent. A good breakfast. The location is in the heart of the town, within a minute or 2 walk from anything interesting. The mattress was too hard.
- richard (6/5): -
- barry (8/5): -
- Lynda (7/5): Very friendly staff. Excelkent breakfast and evebing dinner - It was an interesting building. Too many stairs and twists and turns
- Lynda (5/5): Room 23 was poor quality and not worth ÂŁ95 per night. - Friendly staff. Interesting place. Excellent food. Damp wall. Poorly fitted bathroom. No grip rails fit sower end of bath. No shower screen or curtain.
- Simon (8/5): -
- Robin (8/5): - The experience was what I would expect at a country hotel. I liked the rather quirky old building. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast was good.
- Rupert (8/5): Great for motorcycle groups - We returned to the Cain Valley Hotel for a second motorbike trip. It's got a great little bar, good food, secure motorbike parking, and its perfectly located for touring. Would have liked a proper shower in my room - rather than a handheld hose over the bath.
- Stuart (9/5): - Everything was good, no complaints. We didn't eat in the pub so can't comment on the food, although breakfast was excellent, but they did give us some plates and cutlery for our takeaway. Dog friendly which is always a bonus. No dislikes.
- Julia (9/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- Susan (8/5): - Very comfortable beds, excellent friendly staff Walls between rooms were thin.
- Kevin (10/5): -
- Nick (8/5): -
- John (8/5): - Rooms ok staff very polite and breakfast was good
- Jeremy (10/5): - The staff were amazing and so helpful. My van broke down on the way there, it was late on a Saturday evening and I couldn't get a taxi, the staff went above and beyond to help out and literally saved the day. Thank you so much.
- Vincent (9/5): -
- Debbie (8/5): Comfortable bed and great food. - Lovely big room, bed was so comfortable. Food was great Chairs in the bar/ dining area were very uncomfortable. Carpet could do with a spruce up
- Andrew (10/5): - Forth time stayed good food and helpful friendly staff
- anne (6/5): - Comfy bed and room although radiator in bathroom did not work.
Food ok but felt like it had been cooked in advance and kept warm.
- PETER (8/5): Valley Hotel - food was excellent. not everything on the menu was avaliable on the nights we stayed ..
staff.were polite and attentive.
would stay at this hotel again.Next
- Attwood (8/5): -
- Philip (10/5): great place to holiday. - Everything, the TV didn't work, and they replaced it with the manager's TV. breakfast was great. supper was just a good. there was nothing that we didn't like
- Alan (5/5): The hotel should become a .museum. - The staff were ok and the food was very good quality. We understand the difficulty that listed buildings have for modern amenities but the layout of our room simply did not have the space for a double bed..
- C (8/5): The room was comfortable and clean, bed was comfortable.we ate there in the evening and food was goo - Na Na
- Hazel (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it - Breakfast and dinner were good The shower step was too high for one of us and the door didn't close completely
- Regina (9/5): - Room was so cute! Great location! Wish there was a desk fan. It was hot the night I stayed and small desk fan would have been nice.
- Margarida (9/5): -
- John (9/5): - Staff were very friendly. A wonderful building, we were in an enormous room. Great meal in the evening, good breakfast. The mattress was plenty big enough, but tried to roll me off to the side đ. Slept ok though after the good meal!
- Kris (10/5): - Clean, comfortable room, delicious food.
- Julie (10/5): - No shower in the room
