Guest Reviews
- Elizabeth (9/5): Perfect for solo traveller. Clean and cosy. Easy check in / check out - Just what I needed as a solo traveller n/a
- Pauline (8/5): -
- Wojtyniak (3/5): - Einfach nur Treck.
- Karen (10/5): A perfect place to go - It was lovely and peaceful. The staff were fabulous and the food at the adjoining pub was amazing I had no problems with any of my stay
- Dianne (8/5): - Rooms are basic but comfortable
- Lauren (3/5): Disappointing - Run down, dirty & sad looking room. Thin towel, poor lighting, dirty jug, stained chair & mattress. Nothing comforting. Booked a double room online and was given a single as the double room I booked was given to someone else. No apologies from the staff, they claimed it’s the same price and I booked for 1 person so shouldn’t be an issue.
- Tom (10/5): -
- Guy (10/5): - Very nice and clean 👌 .

- Ryland (10/5): - Friendly and very helpful staff. Nothing.

- Shaun (8/5): My stay - Location . Staff were amazing . Bed wss slightly uncomfortable dusty ledges , dirty shower screen . Mixed furniture and slightly dated .

- Lyn (4/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Bedroom bed and plumbing all needs updating The meal in the evening but sadly didn’t do breakfast
- Dianne (8/5): - Rooms are clean and comfortable
Fresh milk and Water in fridge
Staff always friendly
- Ron (8/5): Don't remember much about it as I was absolutely p#ssed after returning from a wake, would use again - Location was where I needed to be, didn't eat there but it smelt absolutely amazing. Loved the little fridge in the room but in the quiet in the middle of the night it sounded like a jet engine starting up.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Karen Hannah Julie (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed. - Excellent dinner especially Poachers pie. Lovely pub. Dog friendly. Nice staff. Beautiful sun rises from side lane. Near Blandford Forum - cute town. Near Kingston Lacey National Trust. Good shower. Enclosed fence and grass. Lots of parking. New thicker mattress as too thin. Breakfast provision as dinner lovely. Fridge needs replacing in family room as it is too noisy and shower door need adjusting to close easily and stop water escaping.
- Eunice (5/5): It served our purpose for location. We also had s good meal in the pub on the site. I wouldn’t recom - No breakfast available - room only basis. It was dated.
Only two mugs , no glasses for water.
Bed dipped in middle so not comfortable for two people.
Shower good , towels passsble.
Outside shabby with paintwork lifted snd cobwebby.
Friends room - musty 😕
- Kim (8/5): - Koselig sted, med fine rom. Pluss at det var kjøleskap på rommet. Savnet frokost, men Tesco ikke langt unna. Kan anbefales.
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Charles Anthony (8/5): -
- Alison (5/5): Adequate but very basic. Expected a bit better for the price. - Rooms are in a separate block behind the pub garden. Our room was very basic and the decor was tired, though it was clean. The pub itself is pleasant and does good pub meals. Mattress was thin and worn. Bedside lamps were yellow with age and the toilet roll holder was rusty (it wouldn't cost much to attend to some of these details and would improve the accommodation a lot). Outside there was a very bright light which shone into the room at night. No breakfast was available in the pub.
- W J (7/5): Good location and price with easy parking and REAL ALE -Thank you. - Easy to find and park. Welcome pack in mini fridge= milk, bottled water. plenty of teabags and coffee sachets with additional milk pots and jug to fill the kettle which has a water filter insitu. Electric fan . Bathroom a good size Excellent shower Friendly helpful staff. Excellent menu for lunch/supper all tastes and portion sizes included-food good value. Mini fridge though welcome is very noisy on non-eco setting but needs to be on higher setting if you want to cool anything. Bed was uncomfortable and could do with a topper to protect sleeper from lumps! difficult to air used towels could do with airing rack . Sad there is no breakfast facility anymore But all value for money
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Mary (4/5): Not the best, but not the worst. - No breakfast provided More space, comfortable bed, furniture that was coordinated.
- Charlotte (5/5): Disappointing and basic - Convenient location for a wedding we were attending. No basic facilities such as shampoo, an iron, breakfast. The room was really hot, the velux window was open when we arrived which made it cooler but it was full of cobwebs and debris which fell onto the bed sheets, so we had to close the window- this made it unbearably hot even with a fan.
The room was basic with old furniture and the outside needs a really good scrub and some maintenance. Old mats and dirty garden furniture with dated decking.
Check out time at 10am which is early.
Some staff not particularly friendly or helpful.

- marcin (8/5): -
- Barrie (9/5): Good location - Location The fridge made a loud noise for some time and then broke leaving everything inside warm
- Colin (10/5): More than adequate accommodation - Accommodation was away from the main road and with the comfortable beds ensured a good night’s sleep. The food served in the inn was exceptionally tasty and extremely good value for money Nothing
- Trevor (10/5): -
- Steven (9/5): Comfortable, friendly, excellent pub food and drink. - Comfortable warm room. Facilities were as expected. Staff were pleasant and the food in the pub was excellent. I can particularly recommend the steak pie! Second stay here, will stay again.
- Pete (8/5): -
- Barrie (7/5): The location was good - The location was great
Fridge in room
Good parking free The bed was uncomfortable
The TV remote did not work properly
There was a smell from the shower drain hole
The food was slightly over priced and not very good
- Marsh (7/5): -
- clare (5/5): Ok, served a purpose! - It was near to our party . Fridge vs with milk in wax lovely, bags and hot chocolate. Thank you It was cold, heater didn’t work, loo was dirty, summer duvet, no blankets, dead ladybugs on the window ledge. Very underwhelming on arrival, curtains don’t fit window etc..
i also booked a family room, but it didn’t matter that I was given a double bed room.
- Barrie (8/5): Good - Good Good
- Carl (10/5): -
- James M A (7/5): - Staff were friendly and welcoming Advertised, but no longer serve breakfast, bed comfortable but base clunks with every turn, so probably has a few stories to tell
And the rooms above could do with a thicker carpet.
- hutchins (8/5): Very comfortable good value spacious rooms - Warm comfy spacious rooms great staff nice walks around location Tv a bit sporadic with reception
Busy road early am
- George (8/5): - Room was ok food was good Wasnt happy with the tv as it only had about three channels
- Robert (5/5): Good one night venue - Good location and staff Okay for one night but needs work really as it was a little tired. Could be cleaner.
- David (10/5): Good Value - My room was quiet, comfortable, and had a fridge with water and fresh milk in it.Always a good selling point! The pub is nice, looks busy on a Saturday, but service is excellent.A good place to stay!
- Andrew (8/5): - Good location the pub did great food. The room could have been a bit cleaner as there were some spiders and some litter in the room
- Gemma (6/5): - SHOWER CURTAINS NEED REPLACING ASAP.
- Ray (9/5): -
- Beed (6/5): - Clean room, good facilities. Hairdryer available. The bed was very hard.
- Eric (7/5): -
- Julie (6/5): - The property was okay for whawe required, the wall paper needed redoing, bathroom floor was wet when we arrived, so I nearly fell over, staff were polite
- Anne Dorte (6/5): - Personalet og maden Værelset - der lugtede, der var skimmelsvamp i loftet på badeværelset, interiøret var rustent og slidt
- Joanna (8/5): - Near to where we were going Hope they do breakfast in the future
- STEPHEN (7/5): Buzzing pub with extensive menu. Great location. - Friendly welcome, helpful staff, good evening meal. Room was fine. Mini fridge with fresh milk.
Breakfast not available, ever, but Tesco is just up the road.
- Laura (3/5): Won’t stay again - Location was good Room smelt very damp and the room was not as clean as it could have been
- Graham (8/5): -
- Colin (1/5): Old, dirty, smelly, don't book it - Nice enough pub for drink or basic pub meal. Where do I start? See the photos! The room was called "Stour" and the smell of mould hit you as you open the door. The decor very old and tired. A loose bathroom panel lying on the floor leaving a gaping hole. Rusty metal fixtures and fittings. The shower enclosure including the shampoo bottles are full of mildew. Rolled down the blinds and the moths fell out, with the blind splattered in bugs like a car windscreen. Mattress old and collapsed in. Toilet not secured to the floor. Travelled in a group of friends and others had the bathroom bin not emptied from previous guests and rancid milk in room fridge. Lights outside the windows keep room lit all night. It seems you can only upload 4 photos here, but I have more. Just keep looking and book somewhere else.
- Linda (8/5): Easy access and private room - Easy access and private room
- Stewart (7/5): Although a stay was short we had a lovely time and enjoyed our night at the Charlton Inn. - Very convenient location and no noise from the pub or the pub garden. The room was spacious and well equipped and very cosy. The bathroom was large but the shower cubicle was quite small. Might be a tight fit for larger guests and the shower grouting and seals could do with some work to match the high standards in the rest of the the room.
- Dawn-marie (10/5): - Myself and my children absolutely loved it here. Really disappointed that we hasn't booked a 2nd night. The food was amazing, the staff incredibly helpful and one of the best bits for me was having a mini fridge and milk. Will 100% be back here again.
- Davide (9/5): -
- Tim (4/5): - It was just generally a little run down. Could have done with a facelift.
Food in the pub was reasonable value for money but the quality was quite average.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Recommended 👍 - Great location and very friendly host / staff. Room was spacious and comfortable, but felt a little tired and in need of some decor updates.
Wi-Fi was great.
- David (8/5): - We stayed in this location as part of our bike trip. Accommodation is conveniently located to the rear of the Pub.
We overstayed 1 night in a family room were we could fit our 3 bikes (and we were allowed to).
Owners were very friendly and we had a great recovery dinner (and drinks) at the pub The room was a bit outdated
- Ella (10/5): Lovely stay - Nice hotel / pub close to Blandford town! Everything was perfect in the room with a mini fridge with milk, water, kettle etc for us. It was very clean, tidy, safe and very friendly whilst staying there. Only downside is it is a bit out dated need to replace the mattress as it was very old.
- Harte (8/5): Decent digs and pub, locality is handy, friendly staff. - Friendly, responsive staff. Room was nice, good telly. Pub had a very good food offer on the Saturday night. Fishy smell in the small fridge in the room, but this was cleaned and rectified when I raised it.
- Alan (10/5): Great Stay - Great Staff
Great Service
Great Food
- Davies (5/5): - Good location. Easy access to room. Great shower. Outside lights made room too light during the night and curtains didn’t block out the light.
- John (10/5): Royal Signals vist Blandford - Excellent value for the price , Approx seventy meals on menu , Chilli was the best I have EVER had ! , Comfortable room .
- Gary (8/5): Comfortable stay . - Nice accommodation close to Blandford Forham. Good range of drinks inc real ale. Nice and friendly staff. On a main road so some road noise is expected.
- Rachel (5/5): Convenient to stay over after an excellent meal out. - Very nice staff. Superb evening meal. Stayed in independent bedroom and shower room units in an annex at back of pub garden. Would have been better if shower rooms were fitted with extractor fans so they weren't damp. Nice to have a little fridge but very loud (unless you turned it off, as previous reviewers have suggested). Had it been a fine evening, customers at garden benches would have been right outside the accommodation. The matress need changing. The springs solidly crunched againt each other as I sat down. Seen a lot of wear, as had the towels, but they were clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Ok for the price - Welcoming staff. Room ok for the price but the bed was lumpy and a bit uncomfortable.
- Spencer (7/5): Good -
- Jon (3/5): Room needs a makeover - Staff were friendly - the pub seemed nice (although not serving food by the time we arrived) The room was shabby, smelt damp, the bed was tiny and uncomfortable. Desperately needs a makeover.
- Colin (9/5): A proper traditional country pub with beautiful rooms, great food and great service - Very comfortable, large well furnished rooms with a ‘proper’ pub!
- Dave (7/5): Lovely stay - Super food, lovely staff, great beer and a really nice room Only negative was no breakfast but the staff quickly suggested options
- mark (10/5): - Very nice stay
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Loraine (10/5): The stay was great and I would stay there again. - The location was great. The host very welcoming. She advised me on where I could walk my dog which was along a disused railway track. Also gave me another walk. It was very quiet and we could sit outside in the garden. There was nothing I disliked
- Kee (7/5): Good -
- Kee (7/5): Good -
- Philip (9/5): Will stay again - Great location, easy to find
- Steven (9/5): Lovely pub and rooms - thoroughly recommend. - The separate rooms from the pub. Cosy and self contained. Large shower room. Nice staff in the pub. Nothing
- Heppell (6/5): Pleasant - Location - ideal to meet family and catch the ferry at Poole Harbour No cups in the room when we arrived from the late ferry - desperate for a coffee - and a cup of tea in the morning. That was disappointing ( we emailed as there were lights on in the Inn- but no one got back to us(even to apologise after the event)
- Deborah (7/5): Good - Clean and good size room
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (9/5): Lovely village Bed and Breakfast - Lovely room, nice and clean, comfortable facilities I just found the pillows a little too soft so was not comfortable but the bed was lovely and everything else.
- John (8/5): Very good - Comfortable and clean No food on Sundays, live music outside my window
- Guy (7/5): Good -
- william (10/5): - Very friendly and professional staff; room was excellent, and they had draught ale on! Hurray!
- John (9/5): Superb - Very well priced room Pub doesn't offer breakfast
- Tony (9/5): The food is above average. The bar is well stocked. The staff are helpful and attentive. - The restaurant is excellent. 5 stars
The beer is great from Badger I had to leave.
- Penelope (5/5): Great Pub grub - The food and staff were excellent. Great bar atmosphere. Quiet location. Room tired , electrics hazardous, bed extremely uncomfortable sadly.
- valerie (4/5): - Poor room - smelt damp. Rust on radiator in room and bin and toilet brush holder in bathroom and chipped dressing table. Room was dusty in places. Needs a refurb.

- Mohean (8/5): - Very good
- Ashley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil (7/5): Excellent, no frills overnight stay. - No breakfast but I was aware/accepted that. The evening meal in the pub was excellent with the latter having a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.
