- Verified traveler (10/5): Good stay in the heart of Taipei - Great stay! The hotel staff were very kind and even though we could not check in early because all rooms were full, they offered an area in the lobby to relax and pull out chairs to nap if we wanted. Room was nicely designed and works well. It was hot when we stayed so the A/C couldn’t get as cold as we liked but still good. Bathroom is cool. Elevator is fine.

- Nancy (6/5): - No dresser (mirror) in the room, only in bathroom which is a little bit inconvenient. Cleaners seem honest as no items were lost, however, it seems that the bed sheets are not being replaced or made during our stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - Hotel had no heat, only AC; we were given a space heater, toilet bowl leaked. They attempted to fix with caulk; I knew that wouldn’t work as they never checked where the leak was coming from. The bed spreads for a king bed consisted of 2 spreads overlapped. I turned the bed spreads horizontally, put one on top of the other & it covered the bed ok. Daily housekeeping was not housekeeping; they only emptied the trash cans & replaced the bath cloths & towels which came in a plastic package….not cotton like regular bath cloths & towels. U must request bed wear change, vacuuming, etc. Rain actually came into the interior window frame somehow! (Shabby window installation?) They added an extra twin size portable bed which took up more space in the room…they told us that was done to all of the Deluxe Double Rooms. But did not contact us in advance. We expected to see the room they show on the Hotels.Com website! We paid in advance; flew almost 15 hours & was not expecting a room with problems. I assumed there would be heat, only to learn most hotels in Taipei don’t supply heat, only AC. They don’t have dressers for clothes either! U literally live out of your luggage! Room was quiet, thank God. There were other problems, but I’ll run out out of characters to include all. The front desk staff did all they could to address & remedy the problems & they were respectful. I’d suggest much falls on the owner(s), not the staff.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel is quite a distance away from the MRT station, est at least 15min normal walk. The twin bedroom was pretty small if you have 2 big luggage. They should change their old and torn towel and also their bedsheet, cos we got some stained sheet and have to ask them to change it. We were using some fitness club towel which I believed it was leftover by some guest. Our room was facing the back lane of other people house so particularly we were unable to open the curtain for some daylight, and there are no day curtain provided too. Despite all that was mentioned, the staffs were very nice and helpful. But for the high price that i have paid during NYE period, i would have gotten a better hotel which are nearer to the MRT.

- Geoffrey (10/5): Great hotel in Ximending - Situated within walking distance to the shopping areas of Ximen, this hotel is a great find! Great hotel reception, nice room with fantastic bathroom too. The breakfast was a little standard, but i will definitely stay here again.

- M (8/5): - Overall the room was very comfortable. Very good amenities. On a quiet street but close to where the action is. I can understand why there's a bathtub in the bathroom, but also seem a bit out of place given the two shower heads. Would be better to have a longer curtain that can go around the entire bathtub (or a lot of things can get wet). Could also use a couple more electrical outlets (or USB ports). Would definitely stay there again.
- Ken (8/5): - Breakfast provided doesn't have much variety. Guests are reminded not to throw toilet paper into the the toilet bowl to avoid clogging. Discard soiled paper in a bin next to the toilet instead. Overall, this place is clean and comfortable.

From simple as stocking 4 bottles of water everyday (2 in fridge ) from beautiful bathroom design, very good Ac. I stayed at much more expensive hotels in Asia where the AC was horrible. I thought I wouldn’t like as much given the price and the size of hotel in the pictures I saw. Even if it was smaller then hotels that I usually prefer. I liked it even better because of practicality and efficiency and the service by the staff was excellent given the price. Food was good. Amazing value for your money to find a hotel like this in Ximending.

Cons: (1) Wall is not sound proof, you can hear people talking outside the corridor (esp. in the morning) from your room (2) The toilet is actually a glass wall that is covered by curtain. So it is a bit inconvenient. Pros: (1) Hotel is very close to Ximending shopping district (around 7 mins walk) (2) Free buffet breakfast, free tea time drinks & snacks, and free drinks in the reception counter. It's really money-worthy. (3) The reception staff are friendly & helpful. Special thanks to Linda & the male staff on 10/8 night shift duty.

- Ann Soon (10/5): Enjoyable stay at Taiwan - It is a small cosy hotel situated between Taiwan main station n Ximen station. Each station is about less than a kilometre away.(approximately 500-800 meters). The staff were very friendly and courteous. Very helpful in every thing. Special mention for the following staff: CoCo Linda Sean The hotel provides daily breakfast Taiwan cuisine and some western selections. The famous Taiwan Braised pork rice with egg is available every day. There’ are other dishes provided and menu changed daily. I enjoyed the braised bean curd, bean curd skin and the fried cabbage very much. As for western it is corn flacks, bread (different types) with cordiments of garlic spread, Nutella, jams and butter. There is also waffles. Yes, there was free mini bar too! I thoroughly enjoyed the coffee freshly grind from coffee seeds. The coffee is available 24 hours! The staff were very attentive to our needs and the room was very comfortable with bath tub and auto wash toilet seat with warmer. I enjoyed the stay so much that I have extended another two days! Will be back here soon! Highly recommended!!
- Ann Soon (10/5): Happy stay at W5 - Very good u need to give this hotel a try! I stayed from 13/7 to 16/7 but decided to extend my stay to 18/7/2019 after checking in. It may be a little difficult to locate the hotel at first but go towards PaPa Whale hotel, it is across the road.

The location is good, close to the busy shopping area of the heart of Taipei, but not too close. The services were excellent. Only the hotel is a little bit old but in fair condition. Overall a good selection with a tight budget.

- Kim (10/5): Great Hotel - My flight landed in Taiwan quite early (6am) and I arrived at the hotel before check-in time. The staff members at the hotel, especially Linda was very accommodating and helpful by letting me check-in 3 hours before the check-in time so I didn't have to wait longer. The location is great since it is a short walk to the Ximending shopping district/area. There is also a few convenience stores nearby (7/11 - similar to the ones in Japan). The room itself is basic and clean. The bathroom is luxurious. I would definitely stay here again. I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a basic, clean and affordable hotel in Taipei.

Skip the breakfast if you are looking for an American breakfast. Check in was a breeze, while the clerk didn't speak English, he had a paper in english to tell me everything important.

- Annie (10/5): 7 nights stay!!! - The room was nice, staff are very nice and helpful,they just very strict about the breakfast time, in our last day we check out 6:45 and we saw that the food are ready and we wanted to have some food before we leave to the airport but the guy in the reception didn't allow us.you have to wait till 7 to eat but over all it was good, we had fun in Taiwan

On the last night, as I am not a smoker, and I was rather sensitive to smell of cigarette. There was smell of cigarette from 1130pm till about 1230pm. I went to the hotel recept to complain about it but there is little they could do. Perhaps the ventilation in the hotel can be improved

- Verified traveler (4/5): Good location, but room had bugs and wasn't clean - Great location and friendly staff. The rooms are small and dirty (the cleaning lady left soiled linens in our bathtub). We also have small bugs (maybe roaches) near the mini-bar. I would not recommend staying here.
- Jared (8/5): Good price, not bad - Knowing some Chinese goes a long way. Check-in is at 3pm. You better be ready for that. Upon impressing the front desk with my terrible Chinese, they said, "see you at 3pm." I replied back in Chinese, "2pm is okay?" They said okay and they honored that. This place is far away from everything except Ximen, a nice little food area. It's a haul from the train stations. The room itself wasn't anything impressive, but the people up front were very friendly for such a small place. Not too far away is the river, which is why I chose this hotel for a night. I got a great run in the morning along the beautiful riverside. Breakfast buffet the next morning was small, but good. I'm happy with Chinese food, but not everyone is, so keep that in mind. They had hot coffee. That's all that matters.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Horrible hotel policy - The hotel was acceptably clean and the condition looks good however the shampoo amd shower gel provided are in a tiny packet amd they only give 2 of each at a time. Requesting more and the staff will say they are only able to provide 2 of each at a time. There were 2 ppl staying for this trip myself included, if a bath is take once in the morning and once before bed, u would use up pretty quickly and have to constantly request for more. So instead of have customers constantly request your frontdesk staff maybe the hotel might want to rethink about giving only giving 2. Lastly laundry is not available in this hotel.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommend the W5 Best - We had a great stay at the W5! It was close to the Taipei Main Station and restaurants/cafes. The front desk were friendly and spoke English. The room was large with a big double bed, television, snacks, kettle, and small closet. The bathroom was well-equipped with toiletries and a rain shower head. The buffet-style breakfast provided was incredible! Strong wifi. Quiet.
- Han (8/5): Great staff, good location - The hotel is situated at the end of the shopping district, so there is less noise and good comfort. It takes about 10-12 minutes to get to the MRT station, which I think is reasonable. Plus there are lots to see on the way, so the journey feels ok. The condition of the hotel is slightly rundown, but considering the price, I have no complaints. Staffs are very friendly too - gentle and accommodating.

- Brian (10/5): One of the Best Hotel - The staff are all good, they are hospitable and will always greet you going in and out. The room is spacious and very clean. The best part that we like is they are so generous for the things that we requested like shampoo and body gel. The fridge also got free cake as a welcome gift and the breakfast food are all awesome. We save a lot of money because of the good deal and the breakfast food choices are fantastic. This hotel deserves 5 stars ticks, somemore its in the Ximending area, place for eating, shopping and mrt station.

You have to carry your baggages to through the stairs. You should use exit 6 using the lift and cut through the shopping streets to the hotel. 2) Is really a long walk to the Ximen MRT station. If you have elderly parent with you, they may find it too tired to walk the distance. 3) Every day the breakfast is the same. You will eventually skip breakfast if you stay more than 3 days. 4) The toliet is transparent with shower curtain. This would mean that if you are sharing room with your friends, they can see you shower and doing your business in the toleit. 5) The staff may not be well verse in English but they are very helpful
- Krys (8/5): Comfortable Stay - Hotel is about 10-15 minutes of walking distance to the main Ximending area. It is not a building on its own and is discreetly located along side some shop houses. Can be quite difficult to spot if you don't keep a look out for the signboard. Stayed in a standard deluxe room. Both the bathroom (there's a bathtub, standing shower right beside) and rooms was very spacious. Rooms were relatively clean except for the anti-slip mat in the bathtub which was badly covered with mold. Beds were comfortable, TV channels were quite limited, the showers were of good water pressure (hot and cold water works well). The hotel was supposedly be non-smoking, but apparently some other inconsiderate guests ignore that fact and went ahead to smoke which cause the smoke to flow into our rooms. Informed the hotel staff but they were not able to track specifically who the culprit is as they are using a central air-con system :( It was our last night, thus we just and slept it off. The smoke smell got worse the next morning though. Breakfast was simple but hearty i.e porridge with available condiments, a few hot dishes, steam buns, fruits, bread etc. Didn't really use the WIFI as we had some trouble connecting to it so ended up using our own travel router. Overall, would recommend staying in this hotel if you are fine with frequent walking and not particular about occasional cigarette smoke seeping through.

- Janet (8/5): Ideal location in authentic neighbourhood - Within walking distance of Main transit station and shopping. Hotel is small and quaint. Breakfast was ample. Our room,302, size was comfortable and bathroom large with modern fixtures. Only complaint was ventilation allowed exposure to second hand smoke even though room requested was non-smoking.

- Zachery (10/5): Nice Hotel in Ximending - Hotel was nice and clean. Staff was very friendly. The location is great - on the perimeter of the busy parts of Ximending, so the shopping and food is very close, but just far enough away that the hotel stays relatively calm and quiet.

Only bad point for me and my Wife is that the Room sound proofing is quite bad, as a tourist that stay out till late and wake up late, door closing of the Next door and Room cleaning noise early in the morning is Very loud....

Great value and location.. - Small boutique hotel that's a few walking blocks from the subway and a busy walking street with lots of shops, restaurants, interesting street food and street performers. Safe neighborhood. Complete toiletries. Good breakfast. And very service oriented staff. Special mentions: Linda and Marco at front desk were quite helpful. Terry the manager goes out of his way to please. Toilet shower and water closet first class with tub. Highly recommend for those who want a simple, comfortable and clean hotel with friendly staff.
- Le Viet (8/5): Good hotel near Ximending Station - I felt so good when stayed in this hotel but the checkin time is so late, it's 3 pm. I arrived at the hotel at 10 am :) The staff are so nice, they helped us alot to go somewhere although some of them can't speak english well :)

- Verified traveler (6/5): Bring ear plugs just in case - I was booked on the 3rd floor at the back of hotelwith a view of the back of someone's house wth cats. The cats made so much noise that I had to switch my room but had to endure it one night because apparently hotel was booked or the front desk person didn't speak English all that well and couldn't understand what I was asking for .Breakfast was just ok .If you like local Taipei food you will like it but if you like more American style Breakfast you might be better off at mc donalds or a bigger hotel chain. I made the most with the bread , fruit jelly , fruit and salad and oniony scrambled eggs. Location is a bit of a walking distance to Subway station not that close . The positive was that your hotel equipped with snacks all free for consumption so since breakfast was a bust it's ok you have snacks so you don't die of hunger lol.
- henri (6/5): Well located in old part of the City - Smallish hotel. Rooms are small and need work. Better options are available not far from this hotel. Breakfast marginal. two people in the room we had which supposedly should accommodate thee, was a challenge. no closet space to speak of, so for a longer than an overnight that was difficult. In general this hotel needed some renovating

- S (8/5): Roomy, great location and hotel staff, value for $ - The hotel is located within walking distance to Ximending. There are several large massage parlours just one street away, ideal after a long day of shopping / sightseeing. We stayed in the double room which was spacious compared to the hotels in Ximending. The room was clean, the television had a few international channels (HBO, CNN etc.), staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was ok, nothing to shout about. Mini bar / snacks in the room are free so that's nice. If you still feel peckish there is a 7-11 just round the corner if you want snacks. There is a lift starting from the ground floor so it is good for old folks / strollers. The street in front of the hotel is quiet, i.e. no heavy traffic noise. I think this place is value for money.
- Dora (2/5): Cleanliness - There is water mark on the ceiling. The most terrible thing is the shower curtain. One- third of that cheap $10 curtain is full of mildew and soap scum. It's not long enough to cover the length of the tub, the floor is wet after shower. The room is small too. I won't recommend this hotel to anyone.
- George (8/5): Friendly Staff - 11 minutes walk to Ximen MRT station. Although Ximending is a busy area, the hotel is located at the outskirt so it is quite quiet. A lot of choices for breakfast. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The double bed is just two twin beds parked together.

- Michelle (6/5): Quiet hotel near the main district - The W5 Best Hotel boasts a welcoming staff and a great breakfast every morning. It is within easy walking distance to Ximen district but far enough away that it was quiet, which was great. One concern, which is not necessarily the hotel's fault, was that other guests occasionally smoked - not sure if in their rooms or the hallways or where - which we could smell in our room. It even woke us up in the middle of the night. But, it would generally pass within 10 minutes or so and didn't leave a lingering smell in the room.

- GEK (10/5): Total immersion in Old Taipei - We wanted to experience non-touristy Taipei, totally met our goal. Hardly saw any non- Asian people around area. Hotel room reminded me of a large room on a cruise ship, but had everything we needed. The breakfasts were awesome, more like lunch, large variety of traditional Taiwanese food. A few minutes walk to MRTs on a quiet street. Staff was great answering questions, making reservations at restaurants, recommendations for shopping.

- R (8/5): Nice hotel near ximending. - Small hotel located very near ximending. Staff we're friendly and rooms were clean. Only issue is the air conditioner which was difficult to work around.
