- SHERYL (10/5): Fantastic Ryokan experience in the mountains - The room was large with the private shower and hot tub right outside our sliding glass door, surrounded by a tall fence. So fun! Everyone wore the cute kimonos and slippers they provided to the fabulous and included shabu shabu beef dinner in the hotel! Very fun! The breakfast included was also extensive and delicious! Loved everything!

An einigen Stellen ist deutlicher Renovierungbedarf erkennbar und auch der Garten könnte etwas mehr Pflege vertragen.Das Licht im Badezimmer war sehr dunkel und es fehlen Haken oder andere Möglichkeiten zum aufhängen der Handtücher. Auswahl der Kopfkissen - sehr fest.

- Séphora (6/5): Bien mais déçu du onsen - L’environnement est magique en pleine nature. Les chambres sont belles, la literie est très confortable. Le dîner et le petit déjeuner était excellent. Déçu par le fait que le onsen est un petit bain dans une grande salle de bain commune. De plus, c’est interdit aux personnes ayant des tatouages. Et nous n’avions aucun moyen de nous doucher dans nos chambres puisque ni baignoire ni douche ne sont présents dans les chambres.

- Susanne (5/5): Maximal mittelmäßiges Hotel, zwar in guter Lage, aber mit schlechtem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis - Gute Lage für Ausflüge in der Fuji-Region mit mehreren Bushaltestellen in der Umgebung. Wir hatten einen eigenen kleinen Onsen auf dem Balkon (Betonung liegt auf klein!). Dss Hotel ist gewaltig in die Jahre gekommen, das Zimmer war abgewohnt und wirkte recht muffig. Abendessen mit Wagyu und Kaiseki war ok, das „Western Breakfast“ hatte zwar Lachs vom Grill (?!), aber weder Brot/Toast noch irgendeine Form von Belag (Käse?Marmelade?Irgendwas?). Preis-Leistung absolut katastrophal - für über 500€ pro Nacht muss da deutlich mehr kommen.
- Margit (4/5): Heruntergekommener Ryokan. Außen hui - innen pfui. Nie mehr wieder! - Sehr gutes Abendessen und gute Betten. Ich habe schon sehr viele Unterkünfte über Booking gebucht und war noch nie so enttäuscht wie bei diesem Ryokan. Insgesamt ein sehr schlechtes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wir haben für 2 Personen für die Nacht 417 € (inklusive Abendessen und Frühstück) bezahlt. Ich bin selbst Gastgeber bei Booking. So etwas würde ich meinen Gästen nicht zumuten. Das Haus ist traditionell und alt und das hatte mir auf den Bildern im Internet gefallen. Das Hotel ist auch bis zur Rezeption schön. Die Zimmer und der Rest wird vernachlässigt. Das Holz wird überhaupt nicht gepflegt oder erneuert. Es ist an vielen Stellen verrottet. Auch die Chrom-Armaturen im Bad waren schon lange nicht mehr gereinigt worden. Uns war das Bad zu schmutzig um zu duschen. Auf dem Weg zum Onsen waren die Decke und viele Ecken extrem verschimmelt - bis zu 30 cm große schwarze Schimmelstellen. Der Onsen war auch in sehr schlechtem Zustand und alles sehr schmutzig. Das Holz für die Kopfablage war total verfault. Ich hatte das vermeintliche "Luxushotel" extra wegen des dazugehörigen Onsen gebucht. Alles war so enttäuschend, dass wir gleich wieder abreisen und zurück in unser einfaches Guesthouse gehen wollten, das nur einen Bruchteil gekostet hatte, aber in viel besserem Zustand war. Leider waren die Bediensteten nicht bereit auf unsere Beschwerde einzugehen. Wir sollen unsere Eingaben über Booking machen. Da ich alles schon bezahlt hatte, sind wir nach dem Essen im Zimmer geblieben und so früh wie möglich wieder abgereist. Ein echter Reinfall und nicht weiter zu empfehlen.
- Catherine (6/5): Passez votre chemin - Le cadre et le jardin; les repas copieux et typiques. Le onsen brûlant chez les femmes à 45 degrés Celsius, impossible d’y rester plus de 5 minutes…. C est pour cela qu’il était vide…Quand on vient pour les bains de source chaude, c est quand même dommage! Établissement à rénover, beaucoup de traces de moisissure, onsen pas spécialement beau, juste le minimum vital. Ne vaut pas le détour ni son prix

- Alexander (7/5): - Just specifically 1 Staff Member was a little strange to us, the check in process was weird and could have been much less complicated. The staff did not explain the steps for the check in. ( We wished they explained us what and why to do certain things. We heard another Staff member explain exactly that to other new Customers). We were more or less forced to install an app on our phones without explaining FIRST for what purpose. When asked he did not give my traveling partner his cellphone back when he had problems installing the app ( he simply said: " No. " ) and continued trying to install the App for him. It was very weird.

Wished the foreign staff had a more pleasant demeanour - Clean, quiet, good view and the bus stop is right outside of the property. The private village didn’t have many lights in the washroom and hallway. Would like to have towels and hand soap in the washroom.

Met my expectations for this historical place. Kaiseki breakfast and dinner are awesome. Hotel is not low cost though, but good value for money. Fast check in and check out. Staff is very helpful and friendly. We had large room with our own bath inside (you have to be ready to pay the price for it though), but attended public onsen within the hotel too. None.

- Daniela (7/5): Außergewöhnliches Juwel - Außergewöhnliches historisches Haus mit viel Charme. Die Zimmer sind schön, geräumig und komfortabel, die Betten sehr bequem. Alles war sehr sauber. Das Essen war hervorragend, und der inkludierte Shuttle-Service ist ein großer Pluspunkt. Insgesamt ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt. Beim Personal war ich etwas überrascht: In Japan ist man in der Regel einen sehr freundlichen Umgang gewohnt. Zwar gab es auch hier positive Ausnahmen, insgesamt hatte ich jedoch eher das Gefühl, geduldet zu sein. In dieser Preiskategorie hinterlässt das einen leicht negativen Beigeschmack.

- Nolan (8/5): Un poil décevant - La chambre style japonais qui était très jolie. Le repas transitionnel du soir. L expérience d un Ryokan qui était à faire.. Extrement froid dans les parties communes. L heure du petit déjeuner qui nous a été imposer a 7h du matin ! Annoncer lors de notre Check in. Pour une nuit d hôtel à 500 euros la nuit je trouve cela très limite d imposer aux clients de se lever à 06h30 pour imposer un petit déjeuner à 7h du matin ! C’est les vacances tout de même ! Je comprends que l expérience proposer leur demander du temps et de la place dans leur restaurant mais ils doivent le prévoir d avance, il est inacceptable d imposer une heure de repas. Wifi pas top. Je trouve que le prix est beaucoup trop élevé pour l expérience vécu, cela ne vaut absolument pas les 997 euros que nous avons payer pour deux chambres pour une nuit !

- Sylvie (9/5): Belle escapade à Hakkone - L'hôtel est superbe. L'accueil est chaleureux et les chambres sont grandes et confortables. Le repas réservé est copieux et permet de découvrir une facette des traditions culinaires japonaises. Nous avons visité le musée en plein air et nous nous sommes ensuite rendus à pied à l'hôtel. Le trajet n'était pas désagréable mais nous aurions aimé savoir qu'une navette reliait l'hôtel à la gare.

- AUDREY (8/5): Établissement authentique et charmant - L’authenticité du lieu, le charme de la chambre (suite immense) avec vue sur le jardin et calme absolu. Les portes en papier isolent peu mais le bâtiment est bien chauffé et propre. À notre arrivée, horaire presque imposé pour le dîner (17:30, présenté comme seule disponibilité car tous les autres étaient réservés) nous avons dû demander à le décaler. Un seul bain privé pour tout l’établissement, s’il est occupé il faut attendre (pas de réservation) et pas de douche dans les chambres (ok au bain public). Les repas : au petit déjeuner western, quasiment aucun fruit dans le yaourt, le jus d’orange est chimique, déjeuner moins copieux que le traditionnel japonais. Le dîner est plus léger en quantité qu’on pensait, très peu de bœuf wagyu pour deux personnes, l’alcool n’est pas inclus, très peu de poisson en entrée.
- Cindy (10/5): - Our stay was phenomenal! We stayed there for two nights in one of the private villas in February. The outdoor bath had a view of snowy mountains and was incredible! The food was some of the best we've had and the portions were generous. Manna at the front desk was incredibly kind and helpful as well. Overall, I highly recommend this place!

- Teresa (8/5): Traditional stay with onsen - Traditional stay with an onsen for a true Japanese experience. The public onsen was fun (ladies and gentlemen are separated). They provide a Yakuta for the guests. The Dinner and breakfast were very tasty! Not quite cheap but in the end the experience was worthy. The corridors are quite cold since it is an old building, but the rooms are warm and confortable. It wasn’t a big deal for us, and we got than really warmed up in the onsen which is open till midnight and also in the morning!

- Fernando Gabriel (10/5): The Genuine Hot Spring Ryokan experience! - This is the classic Ryokan experience most people are looking for when they think of Ryokans. In a high far off place, gorgeous views, cozy atmosphere, awesome hot springs and traditional Japanese cuisine. It’s a historical place. The private villa is a little far off from the main facility. So walking to the main facility in a Kimono might be a little cold.

- Chris (9/5): A great place to relax and unwind - The food was fantastic and the staff were great. Kimonos provided to wear for breakfast and dinner. Our private onsen was great. The rooms feel like they could do with an update, but still quite good.
- Pamela (10/5): Authentic with modern necessities - I loved the private onsen, and the free shuttle to Gora station and to certain attractions. For a place that was built in the 1800s, they have modernized what was essential to make our stay comfortable while maintaining authenticity. The meals were thoughtful offering a western breakfast if you so choose to have that, but I really enjoyed the variety of the Japanese meals. They recycle the menu after 3 days so our 4 day, 3 night stay was perfect. One day they had us eat a buffet dinner at a neighbor hotel and it made me appreciate the kaiseki meal at the ryokan even more. The 3rd night dinner menu offered so much food that we couldn't finish the last 2 courses. I believe it was well worth the cost. A great stay in Hakone. The only thing we didn't like were the beds. They were a bit stiff with just one pillow. But everything else was wonderful and felt traditional.

There was both and indoor and outdoor private onsens for us to use as well as the public ones available at the ryokan. It was a good location that's easy to reach from Odawara station.

- Audrey (10/5): Confortable, personnel agréable, chambre propre et équipée, lieu pratique d’accès. - Très beau Ryokan situé à proximité de la gare et bus stop. Possibilité de se déplacer facilement pour visiter les alentours (Hakone, Owakudani,…). Accueil chaleureux, dans le style japonais avec tout l’équipement et le service associé (on se déchausse à l’entrée, on met un Yukata pour aller au restaurant pour dîner,…). La chambre avec Onsen privatisé est très bien équipé. Il faisait froid dehors, la chambre était chauffée. La douche est en extérieur mais très pratique à utiliser après le bain. Le lavabo et les toilettes sont en intérieur. Les lits sont confortables. La chambre était propre et très bien équipée. Le personnel était disponible et à l’écoute. C’était parfait! L’établissement était actuellement en travaux, le bruit ne dérangeait pas car cela se passait durant une partie de la journée seulement. Mais la façade du Ryokan n’était pas visible. L’établissement a compensé en nous offrant un cadeau, un produit artisanal.

- Katie (8/5): Lovely, historic Japanese onsen with spacious, comfortable rooms and delicious, traditional meals. - We enjoyed the authentic Japanese onsen experience and the dinner was amazing. Also enjoyed having access to the additional baths that were a 3 minute walk. Check-in took 1 hour without any acknowledgment or apology, but they were flexible with changing our dinner reservation so we could go to the onsen first. We went in January and the hallways were freezing but the rooms were nice and warm. Addtionally, the onsen (baths) are small/basic but guests do have access to the additional baths about a 3 minute walk away and they are much larger.

The food was insanely delicious for each meal. Our favorite part of our stay were the meals! Perfection! Nothing. Even with a communal bathroom which some people might not enjoy, there were private onsen options available whenever we used them

Every room and hallway seems like they did not have heat. I had to use two comforters and sleep in my sweats to keep warm. Building is simply old, not historic charm. Onsens were dated and do not enjoy my experience at all. The only redeeming item was the friendly staff

- Alexandra (8/5): - Beautiful, historic inn with very kind staff. The meals in the evenings and mornings were luxurious. I loved the smell of the hinoki wood and soft tatami mats in the room. It was fun to wear a yukata around the inn, and there is a mix of local and foreign guests and everyone being kind to each other. It is accessible by 2 public bus lines that have a stop literally right in front of the hotel. The ride up the mountain is windy! The location right next door to the stunning Okada Museum of Art is a super plus. With a cozy but still slightly elevated feel in terms of service, it's somewhere in between a three and four star hotel. I think the baths could be better, especially the private one. It needs a remodel. There is a small almost hidden outdoor bath in the women's section that is lovely though. The front room in the main building looks out on the front entrance of the hotel where guests walk by, although it's obscured by bushes. Because it's in the front, there is a light on all night that goes straight through the shoji screen window.
