- Craig (10/5): LFC trip - Fantastic stay. Was greeted outside by staff who were super friendly. We got complimentary continental breakfast in the lovely dining room and a free room upgrade too!!! Parking was free and LFC games room in the basement was fab. I took my 17 year old son to the Liverpool game and it was perfect , only 20 mins walk . I will definitely use this guest house whenever I stay over for a game ⚽❤️ The staff are the main selling point though ❤️So welcoming and friendly .

The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and their exceptional service made me feel right at home. I was also delighted to receive a complimentary room upgrade, which was a lovely surprise. Overall, I had a great experience and honestly can't find a single fault with my stay. I would highly recommend it!

Location was great and we had such an amazing weekend in a fabulous city. The room was a very good size and had everything we needed in it. Breakfast was very nice as well. We would stay again when we visit Liverpool in the future

- John (8/5): Cheap And Cheerful ! - Booked in here as all the thieves in town were charging a fortune, (St Paddys Weekend). Pleasantly surprised. Greeted by a lovely lady at check in. Got parked up in front of guest house. We were given a mini tour (breakfast area) and shown to our room. The room was a tad small ,but clean and very warm. It was a place to crash for a night. We walked into town, it's easy, downhill and about 40 mins. Taxi back at night cost £11. (Black cab). Didn't try breakfast (its help yourself continental plenty of cereals). We forgot to view the Liverpool themed thing downstairs.

Our bed was very soft and bowed in the middle like a hammock but somehow slept fine - the wine probably helped! The dining room was smart and the continental breakfast basic/limited but functional.

The kettle in the room was disgusting, the bed sheets were dirty, the towels had holes in and the bathroom door wouldn't even shut, let alone lock. For £130 a night I would expect cleaner

The location proved to be a little out of the way for what we wanted but we did know this when we booked. We wanted to support a local business rather than a chain and needed good room rates - it was not an issue to book and Uber into town and it was close enough to Anfield Stadium to do the same. Parking is free at the accommodation so if you are going to drive it is a win win! There is no way we would have got such a great deal in the city that is for sure! Absolutely perfect for those on a budget and the Guest House really is lovely in side. It has character. We really appreciated the free upgrade to the apartment and the breakfast snacks that are complimentary. THANK YOU and best of luck going forward with you hotel.

We were upgraded to a family suite instead of a double room, this meant we had a kitchenette which was helpful. A free continental breakfast was also provided. The guest house is on the outside of the city but we were able to get to the centre after an hours walk ( or £9 for an uber) which was fine for us. There's onsite parking so we left our car there. The downfall was that it wasn't very clean. The bathroom was but the bedroom and kitchen unfortunately weren't. The bottom sheet (under the mattress) was very stained as were the towels but the rest okay. The boiler had exposed pipes as well so not great for kids but there were beds on the opposite side of the room (to where the pipes were) so not much of an issue.

- JoanneM345 (8/5): Great Value Hotel - The hotel is on the outskirts of the city, an uber was £12 to the centre (this was a busy Saturday evening when there was a sell out concert on so probably an inflated price). There's a couple of parking spaces at the front or it's easy to find street parking down the side. The entrance felt secure with a fob system and a camera doorbell. The welcome was friendly and with a good explanation of the facilities, we were shown to our room rather than just directed. The bed was comfy although only one pillow each, there was a TV and tea and coffee. The curtains were thin and let a lot of light in from sunrise so maybe bring a sleep mask. Free continental breakfast was offered too. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Complementary breakfast - tea, coffee, toast, cereals, fruit juices which was great. I have to say the room and building in genereal are looking a bit worn and could do with a bit of a deep clean and freshen up. The mattresses and pillows really need an upgrade, the sheets are very thin but all smelt clean. Very close to Anfield stadium, we walked and took 30 minutes, driving there 5 minutes. We would stay again purely for such a warm welcome and kindness from the staff members.

We were upgraded to a larger room and a complementary self-service buffet breakfast was included in the price which took the logistics out of the start to our busy schedule each day. Conveniently situated 5 minutes from the city by car or about a 30 minute walk for those who want to add a little exercise to their day. Would definitely stay again. The only things to mention are that there is some road noise and the room was quite hot, but otherwise clean and comfortable.

Free secure parking, free breakfast, free pool and darts and a football room that kids loved. Rooms not five star but it’s a guest house & very lovely place to stay! Thanks so much. The man on reception on an eve was very helpful and nothing too much bother. We stayed the day of grand national so worried about the noise but it was silent despite the buzz of the place ! Such a friendly, welcoming place!

A complementary self-serve buffet breakfast was an unexpected bonus which made the logistics of our day so much easier. Got a lovely warm welcome from Ştefan and was delighted to hear I had been upgraded from a single/shared toilet/no brekkie to a double ensuite with a continental breakfast included! The room was cosy and comfortable and despite facing the main road there was very little noise, didn't even hear other guests in the building. There are good public transport connections into the centre and a row of shops plus a McDonald's about a five minute walk down the road if you need supplies. I only had time to stay a couple of nights in Liverpool, it's a fantastic friendly city and I would love to come back to see more. And I wouldn't hesitate to stay again at Castle Lodge, thanks for the great hospitality.

- jasminewO8405KX (10/5): Excellent! - Our previous hotel had double booked us, we’d been phoning around for about an hour but with a match and a concert on everywhere was booked, from the minute we phoned this hotel there customer service and genuine friendliness was brilliant, finding us 2 rooms, and we were given a free continental breakfast in the morning. We were all stressed but when we arrived, the friendliness of the staff soon washed that away, the hotel inside is so beautiful, we were taken through to the breakfast room so we could relax and help ourselves to a brew while the rooms were sorted out, we were shown to our rooms and made sure we were aware we’re all the facilities we needed where, and explained there was a night manager if we needed anything there was always somebody available 24/7, so we all felt very safe being there. The room was lovely, we had a hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities, a place to hang our clothes with plenty of hangers, flat screen tv and even a nightlight. The beds were very comfortable, as was the bed linen, we all slept like babies that night. In the morning we went for breakfast, there were plenty of options, and the quality of the food was great, (I must say the cherry conserve was beautiful) there was plenty of juices and hot drink options, and the bread etc was always kept topped up as required. If you need anywhere to stay in Liverpool I’d definitely recommend castle lodge, the staff are brilliant and super friendly they will take care of you as if you were family and really do go the extra mile, we loved our stay with you and Donna and George you are amazing, we can’t thank you enough - we’ve all said we will be back to stay again soon.

The staff were fantastic, made us feel really welcome and even upgraded us to the biggest room I'd ever stayed in for ko extra charge. They provide free breakfast to give back to people during the cost of living crisis which I thought was a lovely touch and it was a really good spread. Bed clothes were super clean and could smell the freshness from them. The guest house is old and the bathrooms could definitely be updated as the shower barely worked. It is a little out of the city and in the red light area of Liverpool but we didnt notice anything like that during our stay.

I seemed basic in my opinion, and overly priced for what was provided. Rooms looked dated, and not a fan of brown bedding. Leaving partially used radox shower bottles felt unhygienic in my opinion. Would much rather have had on-wall refillable dispensers. Handy location to the ground (1 mile), and about 2.5 miles from city centre. Won't personally be looking to stay again, but maybe that bescause their focus is a different market. Friendly host, who has several premises in the same row, but in urgent need of an uplift, if wanting to cater for wider demographic.
- Expedia (2/5): Avoid! - Didn't end up staying due to an issue with the booking and hotels.com promising payment to property. However, would not have stayed from what I did see. Large bunches of stag dos/ groups in fancy dress smoking outside the entry making a noise. Would have probaly been kept up all night. The rooms did not look clean, with items left from previous occupants and empty milks cartens / coffee wrappers left. Old looking brown bedding and dirty rooms. Used towels and dirt on bathroom suite. Quite far from city centre and staff on reception were unfriendly and rude demanding cash or card up front to stay. Unprofessional looking in presentation and some derogative comments made about women from man on reception making all of the party feel uncomfortable.

No staff on site and no contact from anyone to check on our stay.
