- Tadhg (8/5): -
- Lauren (8/5): - The room was spacious All of the taps leaked
- affascinante (9/5): -
- LAURENE (9/5): - Si vous avez le sommeil léger, il faut savoir que le train passe également la nuit.
- Heidi (7/5): We had a relaxing comfortable stay here! - Price, breakfast was great and pool was nice! The room had so much scent. Teenagers making noise at night- spring break…
- Jay (10/5): -
- Henrietta (8/5): -
- Jessica (7/5): -
- Tadhg (10/5): I will be staying here again - Everything. Clean. Comfortable. Warm. Safe where fantastic The shower would sometimes go cold when using hot water.
- James (10/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): Was more than what we was expecting for room size. - Room size , the young man that checked us in was very professional and supper nice. Charge of miscellaneous . Also price of stay was raised because of concert in town.
- Mark (9/5): Always look to stay at Residence Inn - Large comfortable room. breakfast had several options.
- DeMarious (10/5): - Clean
- Renee (8/5): Nice hotel but no free parking so that was a bummer and they charge $20 a day for parking so quite high - Very spacious Parking $20
- Holly (5/5): Mediocre - The room was nice. Had a comfortable bed Got to hotel, couldn’t get in front door. Finally front desk person came and opened door from inside saying she had it locked due to unwanted people coming in. That’s a real confidence booster to stay there. Then went to leave and needed help to find where to go to get back to parking garage. She was no where to be found. In the meantime while she was gone another couple came and couldn’t get in so I let them in. She still didn’t come so they went out to car. When she did come back I told her there was another couple who came to register but they went back out. She said to me “did you get their name?” What???? There was a master switch by the door for lights. If you used that as you were leaving and when you came back and wanted to turn the bathroom light on it wouldn’t along with all the lights turn on. It took me awhile to figure out it was the switch so turned that back on and the other lights worked then. And $20 to park. I will pick a hotel next time that I can park in their parking lot. I get this was down town so parking is different but $20 felt like punishment for staying at your hotel
- Lyn (10/5): Great hotel, nice staff! - I like the location and the set-up of the room. The staff is very helpful! Coming in winter, the pool was cold and the hot tub was very, very hot. I was looking forward to using these.
- Rafael (10/5): Overall great stay minus no free parking. - The suite was very spacious, comfortable and accommodating. No free parking.
- John (9/5): We enjoyed our couple days in Des Moines at this hotel. - The room was great, modern and had a kitchen available. There was plenty of restaurants and shops in walking distance. Check out was a little difficult and took some time working through the balance due for parking.
- Carol (8/5): - The staff were very nice. Good free breakfast! They didn't clean our room ( we were there for two nights). Not sure if we needed to request or if they forgot.
- May (2/5): - Our room was never cleaned the 3 days we were there. No new towel's no garbage emptied very disappointed
- Brooks (10/5): - Clean and spacious rooms with convenient walkable access to nearby restaurants and attractions.
- Michael (8/5): - Clean room, quiet, great location, only complaint is we didn’t have hot water.
- Steven (10/5): - We came for the bike riding and were pleasantly surprised that they’re developing the trails all the way throughout Des Moines. We did three days of bike rides and we think about coming again every year. Those bike trails are the kind of things that would make us wanna live here
- Jacob (10/5): Our go to for DSM - Hard to beat this hotel for the location and cost. We've stayed here multiple times, and it's within walking distance to most of the nightlife. Clean, plenty of parking, and the rooms are big.
- Chelsea (10/5): - Nice and clean common areas and amenities. Parking garage access directly to room floor. Suite had full kitchen with stovetop and dish ware.
- Mary (6/5): - We didn’t get housekeeping at all nothing
I had to ask for clean towels and the dirty ones were left
I’m not sure if I was billed correctly for parking. I will review my credit charges
- Robbin (10/5): Perfect for walking everywhere - Perfect location to walk anywhere you needed. Front staff was extremely helpful. He let us check in early, even when we didn't ask to. We were just asking about how parking worked until we could check in. We loved the large patio area. And everything felt very safe. We will definitely stay here again for an Iowa Cubs game.
- Jill (10/5): - Great location
- Tara (10/5): - Everything was clean, comfortable, and staff were excellent.
- Isabella (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and helped with any needs right away! Our room was very clean and comfortable!
- JOSEPH LINWOOD (1/5): - They have double charged me for the stay and have not responded to multiple messages
- mary (8/5): - I don't like paying extra to park!
- Brandy (8/5): - The property was great! Didn’t like that you have to pay for parking when you pay to stay. Most of the staff was amazing except at check out the lady was so rude.
- Frazee (9/5): -
- Gray (9/5): - Location was great for our plans Prices in des moines all over town were overpriced because of the Iowa state fair.price for residence inn was fair considering g
- Jessica (10/5): - Location was perfect for family activities. Accommodations fit our needs.
- Bryan (10/5): Perfect stay and convenience to airport - Location
- Collyn (10/5): - Front desk was very helpful
- Verified traveler (6/5): Would have been great but it wasn’t - Did not inform guests that there would be no hot water. Chose this hotel for comfort and didn’t get it.
Will say the front desk folks are kind and friendly.
- 613tobenb (10/5): Amazing - Amazing rooms and even more amazing staff super nice management and most understanding amazing people ever. I definitely recommend.
- Janyce (8/5): - The area was clean and quiet. Was there for the National Senior Olympics
- Pamela (9/5): -
- Kendric (6/5): -
- Hannah (4/5): - The staff when I checked in was great and the woman running the breakfast went above and beyond! However, the evening staff were a bit rude about helping with internet connection. The elevator stopped working. The room was wheelchair accessible, but the plastic lip dividing the hallway and entryway and the kitchen and living room area was incredibly difficult to get a wheelchair over. The elevator was also tough to get a wheelchair in and out of. I selected this hotel for its breakfast (still amazing), its pool, location, and kitchenette. I was not happy with the evening staff or dirty room. There were not enough pillows for the pull out couch bed. I felt like the price was not equal to the value.
- JMK-Pittsburgh (8/5): Good, Not Great - My wife and I just spent 4 nights here. We’ve stayed here several times because we like the location and the suites. Those are big advantages but the hotel is somewhat going downhill. I would rate it a 3 ½ if I could.
The biggest disappointment on this trip was the breakfast. Their breakfast used to be a notch or two above your average hotel breakfast. It was very average during this stay. You can no longer make breakfast tacos because there are no shells or shredded cheese. They also got rid of the cut fruit and only offer a limited selection of whole fruit. Little touches like smiley faces on the bananas are also gone. I’m guessing that the woman who used to manage the breakfast has left.
Rooms are only cleaned every other day. That’s a Marriott policy but I don’t like it.
Our room was the farthest from the elevator - #235. The long walk got annoying fast. Try to get a lower number room if possible.
Our room was generally in good condition. The door between the living room and the bed was warped, though, so you practically had to slam it to shut it. This undercut the benefit of the suite as I wake up before my wife and usually watch tv in the living room with the door shut.
Parking is convenient but you should check-in before parking. If not, you’ll have walk around the building to get in. With a room key you can walk in to the hotel directly from the garage.
I might stay here again but I’ll definitely be looking at other options.
- Sue (10/5): Exceptional -
- amtskaye (4/5): power outage - stayed here for a week for a work conference; early morning late night sort of conferences and 2 nights out a 6 night stay here includes power outage and water issues. So no sleep and working all day is really exhausting ; we were promised to be moved to a 2 bedroom and even that was a bust and was only available on our last night. To their credit; they gave us 3 nights free and points (which i still have yet to receive) ; this js our 2nd stay here but perhaps next year may consider moving to a different hotel just because of previous reports of constant issues.
- Donald (4/5): Not sure what the issue was.. not worth the cost - The hot tub jets did not work. The shower knob was loose and did not keep the temp correct… tried booking out, but no one was at the desk , called the number no one answered. Parking garage did not give bar code… was charged multiple time for parking?? Called service number and auto phone call kept hanging up.
- Chelsia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not bad - Hotel was clean, and the staff was very friendly. Our room was also clean, but the ceiling AC unit kept dripping water onto the floor in the kitchen. It was very annoying hearing water smack the floor every few seconds. Other than that, our stay was great.
- Sandra (8/5): - Our stay was good. The rooms are clean and spacious. The only problem was the shower. Couldn’t shower first day because of no hot water. It was ice cold. The next day the shower started out hot then turned ice cold. Not fun experience trying to get shampoo and conditioner out with ice cold water then water turned scalding hot. Showers/ water requires attention.
- Barbara (6/5): Just ok - Lots of issues, however they resolved most in a timely manner.
- Kristy (10/5): - We came for the day and night. So convenient to walk to restaurants and bars and farmers market Loved that we didn’t have to drive anywhere.
- cindyc33 (2/5): Harassed by staff, gifted a bug, you decide!! - We had one of the worst hotel experiences ever & we are in our late 60's and have been traveling for years.
I was trying to ask the front desk for Pool Hours. Should be easy, right? Wrong!
The woman up front was on the phone so I politely waited. The other Front Desk employee, who was standing further back, saw me waiting but hung back. When the first employee hung up the phone I started to ask my ? in a polite, friendly fashion. She rudely snapped at me, "Can't you see I'm busy?" OK, I thought you were done when you hung up. I start to address the other employee, who is still very hesitant,& #1 chimes in, I can help you now. Nothing has changed for her, phone was hung up, not typing or talking to anyone, but suddenly she can help me. I found this behavior very rude so I just said I'll figure it out for myself. As we walked away I hear her say to her cohort she was just joking. Even if she was, I am a paying customer and not there to be embarrassed or made the butt of her jokes.
Ran into this women again when I needed to get new keys due to staying an additional night. She asked how my stay was so far and I rattle off, I guess you don't remember me, the woman you wouldn't let ask a simple question, but since you're asking, the hot water was spotty, they ran out of food well before designated closing time for Breakfast, room was not cleaned, bed not made, the "service" was just replenishing supplies, and best of all we found a bug crawling around one of the kitchen drawers!
She got more & more heated and snapped at me, do you want to stay tonight or should I cancel it? As I walked away from the desk, I was shaking my head and was pretty far away, I was frustrated enough to mumble under my breath "b##@h" not directed at her & not intending for her to hear me. She flew out the hotel door screaming at me that I threatened her, she's calling the police, she's cancelling our reservation, all at the top of her lungs like a lunatic, totally out of control & frightening. I am a 69 year old woman who weighs 110 pounds and has an obvious Scoliosis handicap, I've never threatened anyone in my life!
I shared this story and a picture of the bug in drawer with their General Manager who could care less. Passed my complaint back to the hotel whose manager gave me a corporate, meaningless response about how much they care, they will address this at a staff meeting...
A BUG in a DRAWER, multiple pictures alone, should have had them offering compensation. An out of control employee who has no customer service skills at all chasing a guest out to the street to scream at her not enough?
Scary place, avoid at all costs!!
- Kristen (10/5): - I had a very nice stay with my little granddaughter. She loved everything about the room! The hotel was great walking access to lots of great night life and places to eat, as well as the Saturday downtown farmer's market.
- Yoly (10/5): - Conveniently located by the baseball park
- Bill (4/5): - At check-in we were not told that 2 hotels share the parking ramp and it makes a difference which entrance you use to attempt access to the hotel. After reloading the vehicle and moving it to the "correct" area, we were able to follow the winding path to our room. The room was clean and cool and comfortable. No internet access made the free Wi-Fi useless until Saturday AM. Showers were a completely random experience. No hot water for about the first 5-6 minutes Saturday morning, then numerous slugs of air from most of the faucets, AND then I got water warm enough to take a quick shower. My wife used it almost immediately after I did and she ran out of hot water. Sunday started out better, water much hotter much faster, but once again one quick shower was about all the hot water available. At check-out, no one asked how our stay was, or mentioned that there is problem with the infrastructure, or even asked which room we were checking out of.
Not worth the cost and I will have think twice about the value of Marriott properties going forward.
- Pat (8/5): - Would stay there again. Comfortable room.
- Kristin (2/5): - Dirty. The vents were covered in dust, dirty toilet, old dirty silverware under the bed. The bed was like sleeping on a brick wall. The bathroom door was falling off the hinges and wouldn’t shut. The toilet paper roll holder was broken and the roll would fall off when we tried to use it.
- Connie (10/5): overnight stay - our first day it was an excellent place in an excellent condition downtown friendly service exceptionally nice
- Jelle (9/5): Good quality close to the city center - Modern, clean and good location
- Dennis (8/5): - Property plus rooms have a strange arrangement--not bad just peculiar. Really interesting to find the elevator to the parking garage. Parking at $20.00 per night seems pretty high. Hard to find the front entrance.
- Mike (10/5): - Very convenient and interesting hotel. Great for downtown access. Staff was courteous and friendly, and room was excellent. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
- David (9/5): Beautiful - Great
- Tony (6/5): Meh - I waited about 10 minutes at the front desk to check in because no one was at the front desk. Another guest even commented "they" were always gone. I tried calling an operator but it still only rang the hotel front desk. The only rooms available were the suites this weekend. There was no hot water, only fluctuations between cold and tepid water.
- Scott (10/5): - Fastest check-in ever.
- Clarinda (10/5): Nice and Comfy - I appreciated the home away from home feel. The full kitchenette and bar allows for meals in the room.
- Kassady (2/5): - I will not tell you how much a spent on a room for one night, but for the price it was absolutely not worth it. The ONE reason I booked was for the dual bedrooms and hot tub. The hot tub didn’t work. Front desk said maintenance wasn’t on site and they’d have to leave them a note. Unacceptable for what we paid.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Awsome place to stay, quick walk in the sky walks to get to events and places to eat and shop. Parking ramp for the hotel making for an easy parking every time. Inside of hotel was great and awsome breakfast service.
- Mike (8/5): - Only thing that was really bad was no hot water Sat am when trying ro shower. Not good and they didnt do anything about since I booked with hotels.com
- Jordan (10/5): Excellent customer service - Tommy at the front desk demonatrated a true level of what it means to take pride in one's work. Tommy excels in effective communication by being able to quickly read people, anticipate their needs and offer what they are truly seeking as a guest in the Residence Inn. Tommy made our stay enjoyable simply from him just being his charismatic self.
The breakfast was fantastic! The attached parking ramp created a sense of security for my vehicle and was well worth the $20/day. I will definitely stay here next time I'm back in DSM.
- Adam (7/5): It was fine. - Breakfast. Kitchenette, spacious rooms Courtyard over looked the parking lot, and was used for a smoking area.
- Deana (2/5): - We had a issue with the toilet making her beeping sound all thru the night I was able to produce a recording to front desk.
- Kayla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brooke (8/5): Great stay! - Great stay! The room was wonderful, very clean. I was very impressed by the full kitchen and the room layout.
At first, I could not figure out how to turn on the lights so I had to take a shower in the dark. Also, I had housekeeping knocking on my door at 9-9:30am on checkout day which I didn't really appreciate.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again!
- Fatima (6/5): - Really great customer service. The walls were pretty thin so probably not the best for light sleepers
- Don (6/5): - When I arrived the lobby and halls smelled like weed.
- Ben (10/5): Good! - Good! The place was clean! There were a few noticeable repairs needed but nothing that prevented us from doing anything.
Pool was HELLA cold. But it was December, so that could’ve been a product of cold coming through big glass windows.
- Carlson (6/5): Pleasant - It was a nice hotel Didn't include the extra 20.00 cost to park in their lot
- Victoria Rose (10/5): - I absolutely loved that the hotel was within walking distance to allot of things to do and places to eat! I enjoy watching trains pass and my room had a front row seat to all of the passing trains! Everything was great……. The only complaint I have is having to wait at least 15 minutes to check out due to the lady not being at the desk and not having a box to drop my room keys. I was worried that I would be late to catch my flight.
- Vincent (10/5): - Great staff and friendly.
- Habhab (10/5): Exceptional -
- ARMANDO (10/5): - Spacious and well maintained
- Phil (10/5): - Des Moines Go To Spot... Great parking situation
- Mary (10/5): - Great hotel. No house keeping was disappointing.
- Spencer (6/5): - My son went to the swimming pool area and stepped on glass while walking to the pool.
Some blood but not serious.
Our fold out couch bed had large metal spring sticking out of the side! I considered it dangerous!
We had an extra pillow and blanket brought up.
When the lady delivered the pillow and blanket we showed her the metal spring sticking out of the fold out bed. She agreed it was a danger and she would tell her manager and have them call me.
Quite disappointing no follow up from the manager!
I will say the staff at the front desk when we checked in were extremely polite and professional!
Due to NO follow up from the manager we will not stay at this hotel again.
This is sad to see for the awesome staff at the front desk they have to have this underperforming management!
we stayed in room 301
checked in on 10/24/2024 aproximatly 3pm
pillows delivered and report of the dangerous fold out bed on 10/24/2024 aprox 9pm
wish I would have taken pictures of the injury and fold out bed as I see now that I could have uploaded the pictures
quite disappointing.........

- G6618FQpaulag (2/5): Bad experience all the way around! - Worst experience I’ve had in a long time. Room was not clean, didn’t appear to he vacuumed as there was hair in many locations of the room. There were a group of young men wrestling on the floor above me until midnight literally shaking the ceiling fixtures in my room so when I go to call the front desk the phone isn’t working. To top it off this morning there is no hot water. However, the man at the desk, don’t know his name had spiked hair and was working at 11:00 am, could have cared less about any of my complaints and promptly dismissed me. No apology. As I waited for my car I could see that he was very busy watching videos on his phone. I cannot recommend this hotel nor will I stay here. Such a shame as I have stayed her in the past and it was top notch.

- Travis (6/5): Okay, but keep expectations in check - Meh. The entrance is odd. It had 2 gigantic dumpsters taking up more than half the entrance parking and it's located on narrow street. Room had a musty smell; not terrible but was there. The hotel ran out of hot water by 2 pm on a Sunday and didn't get restored until 8 pm. Courtyard was nice, but would be better if spider webs and trash was cleaned up better. The front desk representative named Dee was super nice and awesome.
- Katie (10/5): - We picked this hotel since it was close to the marathon start/finish line. We’re coming back next June for the Ironman and staying for the same reason.
The only downside was the pool was too chilly. Love the location though!
- Meghan Marie (4/5): - I stayed here for a marathon. There was zero hot water in the shower the entire stay. The room smelled musty. And the room above me stomped around all night and I didn’t sleep one ounce. It was really frustrating to only have cold water in the shower after a marathon.
- Curt (10/5): - Good location. The layout of the building was somewhat confusing. Our room window faced a blank outside wall. Seemed to be doing a lot of updating and construction. Hallway carpets and elevator floors were dirty and stained. Bed was very comfortable and room was well appointed with a kitchen and bar area and clean. Wall light on bed wall was broken and shelf in bathroom was about to fall off along with the tp holder. Reported to front desk. Very good selection of options for breakfast.
- terri (10/5): - Great location Downtown, walk right across to the river and great views of the city. Great staff, clean and updated residence inn. Good hot breakfast. We will stay again.
- Frank (10/5): - Hotel is in the middle of renovations, but our rooms where far away from all the construction and did not have any effect on our stay.
- Christis (10/5): - Close to down town. Walking around.
- rbo909 (2/5): Stay away for a while - Stay away for awhile. Under major construction. Water is hard and slimmy. Rooms, lobby are a mess. We have exposed electrical wires in our room. Breakfast was good. Service was hit or miss now I'm just writing to get to 200 characters. The weather was good and we enjoyed the state fair
- Darlys (10/5): - Unacceptable in terms of house keeping, none, after asking repeatedly. Remodeling dust everywhere while eating breakfast, doors not shutting properly. Pool looked like milk. I was not happy overall
- Rebecca (10/5): Will be back! - Excellent check-in staff, great roomed, great location so close to everything downtown.
- Scott (10/5): - 5 min walk to ball park and places to eat.
