Guest Reviews
- Aymeric (8/5): A place where dolphins could say bula to you if you're lucky - Staff very helpful, especially the man who helped me to unlock my luggage !! Vinaka my friend!
The tour at Monuriki, the dolphins...unforgettable!
The Bure with the private pool, and the outside shower
The Kava tasting and the traditional dances with the guests
The welcome and goodbye traditional chants
The adults only spirit (sorry)
The smiling barmaid who offered me a free cocktail of her own - When a guest is listening to a show or is watching some silly things on his phone during breakfast or dinner, without using headphones, next to other guest's tables, I believe it's the staff's duty to ask him (or in this case them) to keep the noise down (especially in this kind of place that prides itself on its calm and tranquility and where you pay good money for it)
- I also didn't like the jackhammer and jackhammering work during a relaxing time at the pool (especially in this kind of place that prides itself on its calm and tranquility and where you pay good money for it)
- Toby (9/5): Super chilled and relaxing few days, with plenty of attentive staff which was throughly enjoyable. - Loved location, staff and food. Needed bedside lamps for reading
- Kayleigh (9/5): -
- Glen (9/5): -
- Tinyiko (9/5): Beautiful location and hospitality - Peaceful surroundings and Excellent service from the staff who are so friendly and make you feel like you are at home, especially Sarafina, Joe the captain and Junior No WiFi / cell reception in the bedrooms, only in main restaurant area- although it was good to switch off from the world
- Billy (9/5): Enjoyed every moment. Great spot, great people! - - great location, beach, jetty - access from mainland
- great staff, friendly and helpful
- appreciated that its adults only
- spotless facilities
- decent breakfast - no wifi in rooms
- rooms could have more local character
- restaurant/beach bar schedules unclear
- availability and process of getting fresh coconuts
- room towel replacement frequency
- Shirly (10/5): - The place itself, very peaceful. The staff are amazing. None
- Ole (10/5): -
- mirko (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): - The staff were the best I have experienced anywhere in the world
It sounds like a cliché but they really did welcome me as family
Highly recommended Nothing
- Julia (10/5): The staff truly made my husband and I feel welcomed and nothing was ever too much, we enjoyed our anniversary and food o - How friendly and accommodating staff were
- Li Chuan (10/5): -
- Caitlin (10/5): Beautiful Resort! Staff are wonderful! - This resort is absolutely paradise! We had the pleasure of staying here for over a week in one of the Sanctuary Pool Suites and it was a delight.
Beautiful facilities, the room was large and the private plunge pool and outdoor courtyard and shower were fantastic.
The highlight of this resort is the staff, the most wonderful, kind and helpful team. We were so sad to say goodbye by the end.
The two restaurants on site have great views over the water and have a wide variety of options on the menu.
We also booked in a private dinner on the pier and it was so romantic as the sun set.
Be sure to go on the day excursions and book your stay over the Fijian Night, great food and performances and a kava ceremony!
Cannot recommend this resort enough! 10/10 The beach is on the rocky side but it did not detract from our experience, the wildlife and seeing the fish and little crabs and hermit crabs in the reef pools were a delight.
- Ana (10/5): Relaxing days in Paradise. - Beautiful boutique Resort with extremely friendly staff.
- Jason (10/5): - This place is absolutely amazing. Everything we had hoped for and more!
The cocktails are some of the best we have ever had.
- Chris S (9/5): -
- Wendy (10/5): The staff were amazing liked that they seemed happy and were friendly and kind to the guests and each other. We had so - Beautiful setting. Was hoping for more walking options. Small area of walking to get exercise. If the walk could extend around further towards staff residences. Not to them but just before would really extend the walking
- Laura (10/5): - 10/10 unbelievable. This was our splurge spot for 3 nights on our honeymoon. Can’t say enough positive things about Tropica! Just book it. Big perk was the food was absolutely incredible and fancy and we did not know this going in! Amazing.
- Jade (9/5): -
- Lior (6/5): - Bottom line - great potential, but for this price, you can do better.
Pros:
Amazing Staff! very kind and considerate
Peaceful and serene atmosphere
Beautiful beach to chill next to, or take a paddle board/kayak out
Outdoor shower and pond in room
No wifi and TV in rooms was a nice touch
Cons:
Value for money - this is not a cheap resort, and it isn't reflected in the experience
Food - 90% of the dishes we ordered were just not tasty
Rooms - the beds were terrible: the mattress was uncomfortable, the pillows were too big
Cleaning - we had to ask for our rooms to be cleaned twice during our stay
- Jeremy (8/5): Perfect relaxation for couples. - Staff fantastic. Friendly hospitality that Fiji is renowned for. Villa perfect. Beach immediately in front. Access to kayaks, SUP boards, snorkelling. The only thing was the too loud volume of music poolside. Low volume background music (or none at all) would have been more relaxing. Most people have their own earphones so can choose their own music if they want to listen to any. I did ask for it to be turned down a bit, but it went up again soon after. I didn't want to ask again.
- Jordan (10/5): - The staff here go above and beyond to make you feel like family.
Although everyone goes for the beachfront bure the hidden gem is the deluxe pool bure, this sits above all the other accommodation and has a completely private pool surrounded by greenery.
The food is excellent, every meal, breakfast, lunch & dinner was amazing.
- Carole (10/5): - Staff was awesome! Room (Bure) was beachfront with beautiful ocean view & sunsets! Chef Mama catered to our dietary needs & food was absolutely delicious!
- Sylvie (10/5): Our stay was excellent and we loved the staff. The snorkeling was amazing. - The stuff is amazing. From the moment you arrive, they know your name. They are very kind and thoughtful.
This was the favorite part of our trip. The food was excellent. The locations of the hotel is just perfect. The pool is beautiful and the view exquisite. We loved the outside shower and the design of the bathroom.
Only down side is the internet but we adapted and relaxed.
I would love to go back tomorrow and stay longer That we had to leave!
- Kazi (10/5): - Stunning location with breathtaking scenery! The real magic, though, is the people — Kitione, Ziggy, Mosese, Viri, and the whole team are simply amazing. There’s never a dull moment with so many activities happening all the time, yet it’s still the perfect place to relax. Can’t wait to come back!
- Damian (10/5): Excellent - Fantastic location with lovely friendly staff Nothing
- Nigel (10/5): - Total relaxation & really friendly staff
- Michelle (9/5): - Everything it was so amazing the place was beautiful and the staff were incredible Sometimes when you ordered stuff it felt like they forgot about you cause it took a while to receive your order.
The receipt at the end of the stay doesn't describe what you actually paid for so I didn't actually no if it was accurate or not.
- Stephen Muench (5/5): Disappointing, but only because it wasn't what WE wanted. No doubt others would be quite happy here. - The food was very good. The staff was very friendly and welcoming -- in fact, I found that aspect of Fijian culture to be the most genuine. For the money I was paying to stay there, I didn't like the room at all. We were right next to the maintenance hut and our "private" pool looked directly over the back of the cafe. People sitting at the cafe could see us. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but for that kind of money I expected more privacy. We also didn't like the lack of beach nor the very small size of the resort. There was very little to do. However, it would be a perfect place for people who want very quiet solitude. No doubt the right traveler would find it exceptional.
- Alison (8/5): - Juice bar at breakfast, location of bar on beach edge, friendly staff, outside shower ( there is inside as well ) snorkelling off beach , cultural performances, native medicine walk. No opportinities for walks as cant leave resort, expensive snorkelling trips ( free at some other resorts) ,
- Christian (8/5): - Super welcoming! By the second day all the staff knew us by name. Highly recommend coming here to relax. The beach was phenomenal and great for snorkeling kayaking and paddle boarding. I would come again!
- Joana (10/5): -
- Berly (6/5): - Staff was friendly.
not much to do as a solo traveler .
My room was not an ocean front room I had the view of the boat dock and sturf boards not like the pictures no hammocks . Nothing like the picture from Expedia .
- Jane (6/5): - Room with own pool was nice with outdoor and indoor bathroom. The massage was amazing with a view of the ocean. Disappointed there was no catamarans and only 1 restaurant for dinner (same menu for both locations) not enough variety. Quality of the food was average for the prices and extremely slow service. Over an hour wait for dinner to be served. Staff are very nice but let down by the dining experience.
- Georgia (10/5): -
- Tina (10/5): - Perfect couple getaway. Lovely staff. Had a great Tropica massage
- Glenn (10/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): Idyllic little slice of paradise made even more special by the friendliness and warm smiles ofthe staff who became like - Gorgeous setting. Small and private. Staff exceptionally friendly, welcoming and eager to serve.
- Marcus (6/5): Was a beautiful stay but way over priced - The location and staff were amazing The prices that they charge are absolutely ridiculous for what you get, especially activities. Food was terrible
- Raymond (10/5): - Excellent relaxing resort, with plenty of opportunities for water activities.
- Melanie (9/5): Beautiful - The hotel has a total of only 24 rooms. I had never been in such a small and intimate hotel before, and it was something truly special. As a result, it wasn't overrun with tourists. The hotel are dreamily beautiful - pure nature! And the view from the pool is breathtakingly beautiful; you can't get enough of it! The best thing about the hotel by far was the staff - every employee was so charming, attentive, warm, and lovely; simply great, without being intrusive. It was like a big family - which makes the phrase "Welcome Home" at check-in make sense. It was like a second home, far from the actual home. The food was fantastic, and there was a changing menu every evening. The spa is great with a dreamy setting. I highly recommend the traditional Fijian Bobo massage. And there are plenty of activities to choose from: snorkeling trips, kayak safaris, stand-up paddling, fish feeding, kava tasting, and more... There's something for everyone. Otherwise, it's pure relaxation - the perfect place to escape the daily stress and do nothing: It's Fiji Time! For me, it's a 10/10, no question! I would come back anytime. I liked everything.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Small resort with a family like vibe! 10 out of 10 recommend - The staff at the property made our stay so special. Everyone we interacted with was amazing. Mosquito nuts over the beds would be great. My wife was eaten alive while she slept and it could’ve been prevented by mosquito nets
- Andrius (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kaaren (9/5): Island escape - Beautiful little bure right next to the lagoon. Outside shower was refreshing and the staff were super helpful. Dining on the wharf is a must do experience. Pillows were quite firm, the fridge was a bit stinky
- Caio (9/5): True paradise but overpriced food and trips - Had a great time! The facilities were well set up and had everything we needed. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Loved the location—peaceful and beautiful. There were plenty of activities to keep us busy, and everything was really clean and well maintained. The food was overpriced, with tiny portions and very limited options. One dinner cost $110 per person and was barely enough to fill us—definitely not worth it. For dessert, they served a slice of watermelon and a banana... total rip-off. The activities were also overpriced compared to other places we've stayed. Wouldn’t recommend if you're looking for value.
- Malcolm (8/5): Very enjoyable but could easily have been even better! - Rooms pool and friendly staff Restaurant staff very friendly but need more training.Service slow.Sometimes same staff member twice asked if we had ordered 20 minutes apart! No obvious senior supervisor.
Small point but the coffee is dreadful
- Prue (9/5): Lovely relaxing holiday - Peaceful, clean
- Scott (10/5): Great stay in the Mamanucas! - Lovely location! The rooms have a fantastic view! In addition to the public pool, our room has a private plunge pool, which was convenient and a nice touch. All rooms have an amazing outdoor shower! Great water pressure with lots of hot water. The beds were very comfortable! The staff was incredible from the first minute to the last. Food was included. It was fantastic, and different every day. This was an experience that we will treasure, and we hope to return soon!
- Michelle (8/5): If you are looking for a super quiet place to stay this is it. - Loved the snorkelling right outside Very disappointing there was nothing on after dinner. Dinner at 6pm then nothing. Drinks stopped being served at 10pm - for an adults only this was quite early. Would have been good to have some entertainment like other islands
- Allie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (8/5): Very good -
- Shaune Christopher (10/5): - The only thinng I wish would have been different is more menu choices for meals. If you stay more than 4 days I think you will get bored of the same choices for food. I wish I had an option to order a steak or a Yasawa lobster. Also make sure you get all of the menues for lunch.
- Jane (9/5): Superb - The staff were absolutely fabulous! Sonny, Fina, Leah, Nai, Izzy, Illi, Tito, Grace, Mosi, Vili & Frances and everyone else all looked after us so so well. The food was excellent. Our bure was cleaned beautifully each day. The weather and those magnificent sunsets at happy hour were very special...
- christopher (10/5): - What a magnificent property and staff. Great place to unwind and relax. Junior and Moses from the happy hour bar were great and made our stay even better! Highly recommend!
- Lilian (8/5): Good accommodation & very quiet but disappointed no coral off beach. - Good breakfast but after 5 days, there was no new menu to try. Same with dinner options.. Staff helpful with requests & friendly but didn’t exceed our expectations. The Manager was very efficient & helpful in fulfilling our needs for an upgrade. Advertised great snorkeling but dead coral around the resort. Unless you paid extra for a snorkeling trip, didn’t see any live colourful coral. The overall resort did not compare in standards to other resorts we have stayed in.
However, they have plans to upgrade. Daily activities advertised but some did not take place. Even though quiet adults only, need group activities now & then to meet other guests if you were bored with yr own company after 5 days.
- Shannon (10/5): Great people, activities, food, location, and general vibe. - Everything
- Mark (10/5): People, location, facilities. Mostly the people - Staff are wonderful. Nothing
- Brendon (9/5): Add on vacation on Malolo - This resort is quite different to most, pretty quiet and exclusive with only 16 bures. Situated in an estuary it is extremely peaceful and private. The staff here, every single one of them were amazing. From the minute you arrive everyone addresses you by name. Incredible service. Tropica is in a very versatile location close to seventh heaven and cloud 9, and a lot of activities, and the marina. Was a very special stay. First world problem, but be aware there are no TVs in the rooms, this is part of the nature of the resort, a break from the rest of the world... you can feel your blood pressure dropping! So relaxing.
- Scott (10/5): - Plunge pool and privacy in paradise
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mitchell (8/5): Wonderful relaxing place at mid-range cost - just don’t expect great dining. - Quiet location (no children), good facilities, nice staff, great snorkelling nearby. Unfortunately the food lets this place down (apart from buffet breakfast). It’s our second visit in two years - but the food prep was no better.
- Alan (10/5): The best place i’ve ever stayed - The location is beautiful, so peaceful and tranquil.
The staff are the best i’ve ever encountered, every single staff member was amazing and couldn’t do more to help. Food was great, good quality and plenty of choice.
Activities if you wanted to do them, or no problem just to relax by the pool. Nothing.
- Tyrone (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (10/5): - Staff were fantastic!!!
- Ian (7/5): Good - A very beautiful location. Good food, well presented. Good selection of wine and drinks. Resort was clean. The set dinner on Weds night - Fijian buffet - was not good, expensive and the waiting staff forgot about us, so that deserts had run out by the end of the service. Attention to detail by staff was sometimes lacking, although they were all very friendly.
The Fijian dancing on Weds night was comical. The staff were dancing to music based on the WiFi from an iPhone which kept cutting out. If they are going to perform every Weds night, then why not download the music and have it ready to play?
I also did not appreciate listening to the Venga Boys and loud club classic during sunset drinks. The staff did not get the vibe quite right and would benefit from further guidance.
- Gayane (10/5): - Fantastic staff. The best part of this vacation was the people, so welcoming and genuine. We had an amazing time at Tropica
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erna (10/5): Lovely and Idillic Experience, Dear and Caring Staff - Breakfast was superb.
Staff was very friendly, caring; looked after us as you would do for dear family; true to the welcoming words on our arrival - welcome to our family!
Idillic island life! Peaceful!! Lots of time and space to relax!!
Snorkelling on the garden reef was out of this world!! I would imagine that is what the Garden of Eden must have looked like; breathtaking. We booked dinner at Lako Mai Restaurant; quiet, experienced beautiful sunset while listening to the sea rolling backwards and forwards, music to one’s ears, no man made music needed at all!!
Thank you we enjoyed a piece of paradise at the Tropica! The hot water in the room that we stayed was just trickeling…
The system of communication amongst staff at the reception could be looked in to.
The pool needs some TLC.
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ariana (10/5): Great service attended to all my dietary needs all very friendly and knowledgeable - Everyone was super friendly and a lot of fun activities Definitely should have stayed longer than 4 nights
- Sara (9/5): Incredible location and wonderful hospitality - The location is stunning, and the staff are amazing, they really go above and beyond to ensure everyone feels special and has a great time. We were treated to a fabulous New Year’s Eve dinner and greeted warmly by name wherever we went.
We stayed in a sanctuary suite and found it perfect - lush tropical garden outlook, close to the restaurant, very private, and we loved having our own plunge pool! We spoke to several other visitors during our stay there, many who had been to other nearby resorts and all said Tropica was the best!
A beautiful and memorable holiday :) Probably not the resort’s fault but the water to our room went out twice during our stay (not able to flush toilet etc), was fixed relatively quickly but not ideal. The water from the shower was salty, so not great for washing hair or wanting to get rid of saltiness after snorkeling etc.
Food and drink was very pleasant but on the pricey side, although this seems to be similar in all Fiji resorts.
- Emma (9/5): A truly amazing experience - The best staff! My partner and I were there for Christmas and despite the non stop torrential rain we had a blast! The food was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and knew everyone by name. Brilliant entertainment with traditional Fijian dancing, singing and even hermit crab racing! Would love to return to Tropica again The property was lovely but we were unlucky with the weather!
- Qinying (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abigail (8/5): An escape to a serene Fiji tropical island, where turquoise waters and lush palm-fringed landscapes create the ultimate - The beachfront bures are beautiful, the beds super comfortable and the services are great. It is very relaxed and a total tropical paradise - it took us a few days to believe we weren’t in a dream.
The staff also completely make the place! There is nothing they can’t help you with. They treat you like family and the bond between all of them is clear to see! So many to mention but Ana, Nai, Izzy, Sonny, Ziggy, Joe and Grace were some of the stars. 🌟
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Jared (10/5): Beautiful Resort! - Amazing people and location. Lovely resort to get away from reality! We only stayed for 2 nights but we will never forget our experience there and everyone is so welcoming.
- Astrid (7/5): We had nice relaxing days - The resort was beautiful and the staff friendly. We felt trapped. That you need to be 4 people to go somewhere or pay for 4 people felt crazy. We really thought that we would see a lot more of Fiji and be able to travel a little bit around without this costing us a lot of money. We ended up paying more than we spent on the room after our four days...
Also felt like the staff couldn't talk to us after they finished work. We got to know some of them and they were so nice and gave us more of the Fiji experience that we were hoping for.
Not really a beach at the resort, so you also needed to pay to go somewhere if you wanted to go to a nice beach.
We feel like there are rich people owning the resort and takes advantage of the locals....
- Gigi (9/5): Superb -
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Freya (10/5): Our stay was short but perfect. Everything about the hotel was excellent and we loved every second of it. We couldn’t un - Everything, the hotel was perfect and the staff were wonderful, they catered to every need and went over and above to make us feel at home! Nothing!
- Paula (10/5): - If you are looking for a romantic, quiet getaway or wanting to unwind in beautiful surroundings this is the place to come. Service was outstanding, the location was stunning, Tropica Resort is a special place. Our only thing would be no WiFi in the rooms, which does make you switch off.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marc (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liz (7/5): Pleasant but we expected more for the price - The complimentary foot soak was lovely and it takes a small number of guests at a time so it’s nice and quiet. The food was very average and the resort doesn’t have a beach to speak of.
- Georgina (10/5): Exceptional -
- SCOTT (10/5): - The property was nice and quiet. The staff was great. Especially Ana she was a lifesaver.
- Steve (10/5): - This property is nothing short of amazing. It is absolute paradise. The staff is incredible and so friendly, it’s a first name basis and they make it a point to refer to you by your name. I did not want to leave. Fijians are wonderful people, we had the best time at this resort.
- Protaeus (10/5): Exceptional -
- Camilla (10/5): - This place is absolutely amazing! Do not hesitate….just book this resort if you are going to Fiji. The staff is so incredibly friendly and genuine. The food is delicious and the portions are almost too big. Snorkeling off the shore is spectacular and especially awesome over by Rock Island, a quick kayak trip away. I have never felt more welcomed or appreciated as a hotel guest. I had to hold back tears when it was time to leave the beauty of the island and the Fijian hospitality. We will be back, Tropica!!! Vinaka vaka levu
- sanath kumar (10/5): - An excellent escape from the daily hustle. A great place to recharge and rejuvenate yourself. The location is straight out of a postcard and staff are warm, cheerful and welcoming. The overall service is exceptional. Highly recommended this establishment for a dream vacation
- Jonathan (6/5): 3 star but charging 5 star prices. - the location was terrific. beautiful views. staff friendly. room was nice if a little dated service was poor. don't believe the pictures of the food it was well below average and very disappointing. had Thai curry one day and it was worse than a poor frozen meal. all meals generally lacked flavour and very over priced. water was cut off several times whilst there and on one occasion for almost 12 hours so had to flush toilet using ice bucket and water from pool. activities never seemed to change and weren't really activities. yoga that was promised never happened.
- Kip (9/5): Wonderful visit to a beautiful resort with staff who make you feel like family. - The staff at Tropica are incredibly warm, joyful, kind and helpful. It is clear that job 1 is to make everybody feel like family and to do whatever they can to make a guest's stay a wonderful experience. The resort is isolated, with limited ability to experience other places other than through boat trips. That's not a criticism...just something to be aware of.
- Matthew (8/5): Would come again - Beautiful resort and kind staff No wifi in rooms and if there was a more comprehensive guide on reserving tables or prices of menu/drink prices
- Don (10/5): - A stunning island for an adults only break. Lovely service from fantastic staff. Great food options, clean, comfortable bure's, we had our own plunge pool, but it was only a few steps to the sandy beach. The water was clear and tropical fish just off the beach. Stay here if you want to be well looked after and a quiet and relaxing holiday!
- Gillian (7/5): Relaxing - Adults only. Lovely pool and bar area to watch sunset. The spa was great but would would have been nice if it was up at the hilltop venue Felt it was somewhat overpriced.
We booked a romantic dinner extra months In advance only to be told it was double booked and we couldn’t do it.
- Poppy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fernanda (1/5): Ripoff, disappointing - Friendly staff After spending a week in the Yasawas, we made a final stop here with the intent of visiting the Mondriki Island. Arriving here was costly and troublesome. No direct connections available from Yasawa. We booked a transfer connecting from South Sea Island and were told half way through the journey that we had to return to port Denarau to transfer. Although the rates were comparable to other properties we stayed in Fiji, facility finishes and materials felt cheap. The room felt cold and uninviting with the same generic tile floor as the restaurant and bathroom, and poorly lit with white ceiling puck lights. No rug, no table lamps, no tables to set our belongings. From the furniture, to linens and glassware everything felt like a budget choice. The beach (what beach?) was a stretch of rocks and no great snorkeling as the water is murky with poor visibility. Now on to the Mondriki excursion: we were looking forward to this trip which was scheduled for our last day. We were willing to pay the expensive price tag of $350FJD per person since it would be a nice going away treat. Except it did not happen. The hotel didn’t have the minimum number of people and the manager was not willing to make an exception although this was the main reason we stayed at Tropica. Disappointed that our last day plans fell apart, we asked if it was possible for a late check out at noon to better enjoy our last day, but that was not possible unless we paid for another night. Overall excursions were much more expensive than any other hotel in Fiji, cocktails were pricey and watered down. Do yourself a favor and just go somewhere else, for the same price you can find much better options in Fiji, this place is a waste of time and money.
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional - Facilities were fantastic, snorkeling in front of the resort was great, staff really did make us feel part of the family, food was 5 star. We were genuinely upset when we had to leave!
- Vj (9/5): Relaxing break. Recommended. - Beautiful location, great breakfast and dinner options. Local activities of swimming, snorkelling and kayaking. Great for relaxing and switching off. Not much. Nice place to unwind.
