Guest Reviews
- Simon (10/5): - A great Hotel to stay near the shops, friendly staff, parking, bar & clean tidy rooms. Worth going back to stay again.
- anne (10/5): - So friendly and welcoming
Old style, old fashioned service, in a positive way, values and hospitality a plus
- Barry Stephen (8/5): - Very nice hotel, nice room but every time the toilet was flushed it made a horrendous noise until the system filled up and the room had the smallest tv I've ever seen in a hotel plus hardly any of the channels worked apart from those a very nice hotel
- David (8/5): - Handy for the town centre. A bit dated inside but the room was comfortable & clean & the breakfast was good..
- Jacqueline (6/5): - Clean, friendly reception staff but hotel dated, clearly aimed at older generation. Breakfast -buffet very basic, no catering for dietary needs, had to request non dairy milk several times. Slow service at breakfast & both continental & cooked options were disappointing. Tea & coffee in room, no shower gels/shampoo/had to purchase if required. Wouldn’t use again.
- Mr Mark (6/5): - Really nice, helpfull, situated and clean. But......
A small but. You've gone back in time here and most of the patrons are from the same era.
Would still go back though.
- Justin (8/5): - Clean & tidy
- David (8/5): - A friendly hotel in an excellent location
- Karen (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at Norfolk Hotel! It was very clean and cozy and the staff were very kind and accommodating. I highly recommend it and plan to stay there again for our next visit to St Helier.
- Mitzi (8/5): - Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful
Service for breakfast and dinner was very good.
Hotel was comfortable and clean. Spacious room.
Easy 10-15 minute walk from St Helier bus station. (Bus stop right outside front door - I didn't use but goes to bus station for other connections.)
The hotel is quite dated in decor and facilities. Our bathroom contained high sided bath with shower in - ok if you are physically able to get into it. Also there wasn't a blind on the bathroom window which meant it was very hot due to the sun blasting in through it for most of the day.
No modcons like Aircon - just windows and the hope of a breeze when the weather is very warm.
The breakfast and dinner are simple, limited variety. However the food we had was very good.
- David (8/5): Dave and Jackie - Overall a pleasant stay, bed could have been better as it was 2 beds put together as a double.
Food and staff were excellent
- Wellington (6/5): - Very central in Jersey close to the beach
- Andrea (6/5): - Clean and comfortable hotel. Food choice was limited.
- Julie (6/5): - A 10 min walk into centre bus station where you can access anywhere in the island.
- Angela (8/5): A bit tired - Rooms were a little bit tired. Shower was not the best, very slow and difficult to adjust.
Staff were fantastic, very welcoming.
- Alison (8/5): - The hotel was clean, room was comfortable, staff were polite and it was good value for money. However it was really dated - the hotel, room and breakfast all felt we were back in the 1970s.
- Huong (10/5): - The hotel has a great location being very close to the centre where the shops and restaurants are locate.
The hotel beds were comfortable and the room very clean. The staff goes out of their way to make the stay pleasant.
I would stay here again when I am in Jersey.
- Anne (10/5): Lovely hotel, well worth a stay. - Close to Howard Davis Park, less than 10 min walk to town centre. Bus stop outside hotel. Clean and very friendly hotel. We will stay again.
- John (10/5): - Very gd location , service excellent
- Alan (8/5): - It’s a good hotel some of the room facilities are pretty basic. It is dated in areas having said that for a short stay it is good value and well positioned to visit Sy Helier easily walking
- Owen (8/5): - Good meals, promptly served.
- Javier (10/5): - Great location for one night stay.
- Jane (8/5): overall a good hotel - Close to town, friendly staff, clean and comfy room. The breakfast was nice but the cooked breakfast was not self- service. Around the hotel there were plenty of seating areas. Some form of entertainment was held each evening. Although there was a lift to the upper floors, there were however a lot of stairs. The adjoining wall was paper thin or we just had a very loud neighbour.
- Geoff (10/5): Good Value - Very good value for the price. We would stay there again.
- Roger (8/5): - Nice hotel with simple rooms, well located for those who will be using the excellent public transportation system to get around. Very nice breakfast was included. You have to leave your room key with the front desk when you go out, which I thought was a bit weird, but otherwise ok.
- John (8/5): Great location - Overall a great stay. Hotel is situated in a great location. Decor in rooms are dated, but the cleanliness and the staff make up for this. Would recommend as a good base to explore the Island.
- john (6/5): - hotel breakfast was small and basic
staff at reception in mornings not friendly
- Eric (8/5): - Difficult to find the right adjective, quirky, pleasant friendly comfortable, close to town centre.
Has lots of short flights of stairs if that's a problem.
Overall a charming hotel.
- Clinton (6/5): Average 2 star - Average.
I would say this is a contractor hotel for a cheap stay away.
Many elderly people stay here because of the cost.
The staff and owners can't do enough for you.
Food is less than average but is the same cost as everywhere is Jersey, expensive for what they serve.
Remember you pay for what you get, if you want a cheap hotel for a stay away then this is great for you, don't expect any frill. Or any extras, a notice in the bathroom says this if you want anymore tea bags you need to pay for them !
But the room is stocked every day.
It was ok, but not great. If I was working this would be ok, it's not appealing if you are wanting to spend a bit of time in your room.
- Cheryl (8/5): - One of the best priced hotels in Jersey. Easy walking distance to everywhere in St Helier. Not a deluxe type of hotel, but for what you pay a very fine place to stay. Recommended.
- Joanna (8/5): - Good clean basic hotel. Good location. Staff friendly and helpful.
- Elaine (8/5): - The staff were great, the hotel was central to harbour and town centre. The breakfast was good but was disappointed with the evening meal.
- Dawn Marie (8/5): - The Norfolk was in need of some updating in the rooms, but all it was clean & comfortable & not to far from the town, so walkable & it was in a quiet area. Breakfast was basic, but nice & the staff all friendly & helpful.
- v (10/5): Excellent stay - We stayed for 4 nights, first time in jersey and so glad we chose this hotel. My parents are elderly and in a wheelchair, the staff accommodated our every need including low floor with walk in shower in the room. Full breakfast included which was brilliant, great choice, swift service in restaurant and staff brilliant too.
You can also book a 3 course evening meal at the hotel.
Entertainment nightly to suit all, lovely bar and lounge, again the staff in there were great!
A special mention to Brian who was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgable, nothing was too much trouble, especially after we’d checked out and our flight then cancelled, A quick call back to the hotel and Brian found us another room for the night, he literally saved the day!
Would absolutely recommend this hotel!!! Thankyou all there.
- Susan (6/5): Good location for a weekend break - The Norfolk Hotel was in an ideal location. Excellent Thai & Portuguese cafes very nearby. Rather dated & popular with the older person! Bingo was popular!
- Robert (8/5): - Heated pool good, excellent staff. Enjoyed the well-organised and tasty breakfast.
Room a bit noisy, unavoidably, as near pool
- james (8/5): - Old style vibe, staff excellent
- Arlene (10/5): Perfect location - Perfect stay for our trip, very central and staff were accommodating and friendly.
Basic hotel but has everything we needed.
- Betina (8/5): - 10/10 cleanliness, location & service. One thing that bothered us were the door slamming from other rooms, the bedroom doors have slow closing devices but it still shuts with a loud bang.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommended - Very enjoyable stay. Clean and comfortable. Excellent service. No issues. Highly recommended.
- Jane (10/5): - Great hotel for the few days I was in St Helier. Rooms a good size and very clean. Lovely bedding! Very good value as the cost of the room included a cooked breakfast. Easy to walk to the centre of town from the hotel. All the staff were so friendly and helpful.
- Catherine (2/5): - Asked for porridge at breakfast however the chef refused to make it because I did not order the day before. I arrived about 8pm the day before and was not advised on check-in about any requirement to pre-order any breakfast items. Also when having breakfast with my work colleague,
- Robert (10/5): - Everything was very satisfactory
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was great that the hotel is in the middle of town and all amenities were within a short distance. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were lovely. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to everyone. Thank you Norfolk Hotel for a lovely stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everywhere clean, food good, staff helpful and friendly, convenient location, in short, everything you could want from a hotel. Okay, it's all a bit dated, but that wouldn't stop us from returning to the Norfolk Hotel if we were staying in St. Helier again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly hotel and close to the town for shopping and dining
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice location pleasant helpful staff rooms where kept to a good standard
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice location and great staff. Rooms outdated and lacked personality. No free shampoo etc is unfortunate and feels like penny pinching.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel and well priced. It’s a large place, with a good pool. Witjca great layout, good pool, great dining room and breakfast service. But bear in mind, the average ago of lists of the patrons is probably 65.
So if you’re over for the weekend partying, you may want to look elsewhere!!!!
- Kathy (10/5): - Excellent service..lovely food , breakfast served by fabulous staff plus comfy bed!
- Judith (10/5): Superstay!! - Excellent service all round
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel was clean but we did not sleep well- car alarm goung off in the middle if the night, noisy guests and slamming of doors, bed was uncomfortable and pillows but only 2 nights so not worth changing rooms/pillows as we were leaving. outside pool was freezing and lots of bugs floating. lots of rules and regulations and extra payment or fines but we enjoyed the pool table
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet, friendly, clean, not the most modern of premises but great value for money and in quite a central spot in St Helier.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clenliness and excellent staff were the hotels best assets. The food was also excellent . Would say only room decor was dated but very freshly decorated and spacious rooms .All l can say is some 4 stars l have stayed in would stuggle to beat the Norfolk, also great pool was a bonus .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff at the hotel were friendly and hardworking, the rooms , dining room and reception areas are exceptionally clean.
The rooms are dated and lack some facilities such as a phone to reception, complementary shower gels etc... Breakfast was good and served very hot, I do think fresh fruit would be received well. We did try the the evening menu once however it was processed/frozen food that was piled on your plate, did not enjoy the experience so didn’t try again. Good value though if you like that kind of thing. The evening meal is only for 1 hour , you do feel quite rushed.
I would not return but my elderly mother would , she enjoyed the Company of the other guests.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A lovely clean hotel, but dated decor. Needs to be a retro 1980s hotel and use it to its advantage! But it is so clean, there are so many cleaning staff. Breakfast is lovely, very continental in style but excellent service - a good mix of help yourself and waiter service. We didn't have an evening meal but others said it was good. The hotel is centrally placed to walk to any part of st helier. Not too far from the bus station either. Good for families, couples or older people.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The lift was extremely useful, as our room was on the 3rd floor
- Jayne (10/5): Norfolk hotel review - It’s a really clean, well serviced hotel and the staff go above and beyond to help and make your stay good . If I’m being picky , the road at the front can be quite noisy but that’s just cos it’s a fairly busy street . No negative points and the breakfast was great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and well located. Times of meals excellent
- Lucy (10/5): Great find - Great hotel for a short stay, very friendly and helpful, lovely pool with free towels, not fancy but very clean with lovely comfortable beds, would definitely go back
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff . Good facilities. Breakfast is basic but does the job . Well placed and have their own tourist buses with some fun trips
- Stu (10/5): - Friendliness of all the staff was outstanding, great breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely would recommend.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The staff and location was excellent as was the service however, the hotel needs major up-dating and a make-over.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - * This hotel attracts holiday makers of senior years and, i think its been geared atound them*
The hotel was very clean and tidy, with a underlying smell of an old hotel, a bit dated and in need of a refurbishment, however for the price we paid for 2 nights, did exactly what you expected. Breakfast was good and the staff were very helpfull and accommodating. We booked this a base for a work interview. For what we needed, it ticked the boxes.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Amazing hotel definitely will be back very soon. Hotel spotless and staff so friendly and welcoming
- Julie (8/5): Two star hotel with four star service - The staff are very friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was very spacious and the breakfast quite generous. Excellent value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We I booked this hotel I wasn't expecting should a lovely place to stay, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food in the hotel was great and it also layed on entertainment which was a surprise to me. The rooms were clean and the the bed was comfortable, it also so has a pool. They have a quiz night on Mondays and various other entertainment. All in all its was a enjoyable stay and would like to say a thanks to the staff for all the help and tips they gave us 👍
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it suited our requirement as we where just visiting family
- Annette (8/5): Nice and friendly hotel - Had a nice stay at he Norfolk Hotel and for a 2 star I must say they do very well. The staff is very welcoming both at the reception and at breakfast. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. The only minus was that the walls were really thin so you could easily hear your neighbours and the cleaning lady when she was hovering the hallway in the mornings.
- Patricia (10/5): Nice place to stay. - Enjoyed my visit. Staff very nice. Hotel in good location. Hotel has shuttle to ferry and airport. Walked from ferry to hotel, but took ferry back.
- Ian (8/5): Great hotel - Great hotel but lack of choice on dinner menu
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient to town centre and to park. Clean and welcoming.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location, great value for money, excellent breakfast and super staff.
Single use plastic cups though - please consider climate change.
- BRIAN (10/5): Weekend in jersey - Stayed here before good again
- Leslie (8/5): STAY EXCELLENT - Hotel spotless and staff very efficient. Breakfast was excellent and again staff very attentive. Hotel could do with a bit of an update.
- Derek (10/5): Great! - Good value for money. Very friendly helpful staff. Close to centre of town. Wifi in room was fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely hotel in a good location. Room was well appointed, food was v good, and the staff were attentive but not intrusive. Overall, great value for money, and an experience I'd like to repeat very soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were fantastic, hotel was very clean. Nothing was too much trouble.
- Angela (8/5): - Basic clean hotel, friendly staff breakfast and evening meal good hotel in good location
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good hotel and reasonable price - Nice clean hotel. Super friendly staff, lovely breakfast. Good location in Town centre , plenty of bars, restaurants and shops in the immediate vicinity. Short level walk to bus station, however 3 buses to the centre stop directly outside the front door of the hotel.
Tours available to book at reception, with pick up from the hotel.
First visit to Jersey and thoroughly enjoyed it, very scenic and plenty to see and do.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dated but quaint hotel. Excellent staff, very helpful and cheery
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent value. Good location. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast
- Sarah (8/5): - Great service and a fab breakfast
- Dai (8/5): Great hotel staff well located for town abd park w - Lashings of fairly basic but tasty meals.
Staff outstanding - reconfigured our room from double to twin without any hassle.
Whilst fan was vital for room hotel could improve comfort standard with air-con.
- Mark (10/5): Excellent people - An excellent hotel with people being the standout feature. Brian on the main desk was a pleasure to talk with as was Magda. Patricia at breakfast took great care of us and made my son feel really special. Mircea had the restaurant all under control. Great location too.
- david (10/5): cant do enough for you and always with a smile - got to be one of the nicest hotels ive stayed in although only a two star (I don't get why it only has two stars) the attention to detail is amazing , they do a three course evening meal for £15 which you will go far to get better value rooms spacious and comfortable telly tea coffee in the room , room service every day , entertainment in the bar every night
- Paul (4/5): disappointing - Disappointing thats the best way to describe this stay bed was good chairs must have been from the 70s with rust on the frames tv well if you can call it that was about 12 inches across and very tinny sound quality the cold tap in the sink hummed when used and the hot tap was so hot it was scolding and no warning signs glad i didn't have the kids with me breakfast well not being able to have anything hot until 830 am ??? never have i stayed in a hotel that doesn't start cooking till 830 i arrived at 650 for breakfast to be greeted eventually by a water stinking of cigarettes with a bemused look as if to say what the hell are you doing her so early so breakfast was toast cereal or fruit not good enough for £105 per night not at all
- debbie (10/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel with very friendly staff. Brian and edwauno were hillarious and really made you feel welcome. Close to all amenities. A little noisy if you are on the front, however it has not put us off from staying again. The cafe by the pool was great also. Loved our stay and will be going back. Definitely not a 2 star hotel more like 4
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family friendly. - A most enjoyable holiday environment. . . . . .
- Linda (10/5): Norfolk hotel great - Such a friendly hotel amazing staff food excellent, nice swimming pool
- Micahel (8/5): I liked it very much. Sociable and warm hearted - It was better than I expected. Why? I met a nice couple who sat next to me at breakfast where we had much in common. Guests are down to earth and many were warm and friendly and they liked to meet for an evening drink at the bar.
The hotel staff at reception and in the dining room were great and helped as much as they could
The price was much less than a 3 star I had stayed at in Guernsey
I thought this hotel to be exceptional value
- Pauline (10/5): Very friendly hotel - Very friendly staff, fabulous breakfast, excellent cleanliness , near the shopping area and within walking distance of the coast and bus station
- Brian (10/5): Hotel close to all amenities. - Hotel was brilliant food was excellent as was the staff. Just five minutes walk from the town. The park which was just up the road was superb there was a band concert two nights which was excellent.
- Teresa (10/5): Norfolk Hotel Jersey. - Good value hotel. No view from window but very quiet even on a night when England won a World Cup match. Breakfast was good. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Although the hotel is a 10/15 minute walk from the centre of town there is a bus stop opposite.
- Davey (10/5): Lovely hotel close to Howard Park. - We returned to this hotel after being here many years ago .
We are pleased to say that is as lovely now as it was all those years ago.
With lovely,helpful and cheerful staff.
We will recommend this hotel to our family and friends xx
- Verified traveler (10/5): An excellent find in the centre of St Helier - This hotel is a little old fashioned, but this adds to its charm. The position and facilities are excellent. Perhaps the only complaint would be that the hot water is VERY hot, so have to watch when washing hands under running water. We will return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This hotel is absolutely spotless but needs a decor make over. The staff were excellent, especially in the restaurant. The majority of guests were in their senior years so we felt like the odds one out being under 60. But Jersey Island itself is absolutely beautiful and a must visit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Paul at the desk is super friendly and helpful. Once you find the car park, which is behind the hotel, you can stop driving in circles. The street noise out front never lets up all night, so take earplugs. The breakfast is very good and the staff is fantastic.
- Corinne (10/5): - Had a great few days here despite the weather. Hotel is in an ideal location to get around. The staff in all areas of the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful.
- Wendy (10/5): - This hotel is cheap & cheerful! It may only have 2 stars, but the staff offer 5 star treatment. Nothing is too much trouble, the breakfasts are fantastic! I was really impressed. Well done, a big pat on the back, for everyone at The Norfolk!
