Guest Reviews
- Alan (8/5): - Fascinating place. Not a destination for anyone looking for Ritz style accommodation. The single circular central staircase that gave access to the rooms was beautiful and redolent of life a century or more ago. I loved it but but a bit of a struggle for those with heavy luggage or with leg problems. Our room was fine for our needs and was kept clean and tidy despite our efforts otherwise! No included breakfast but a couple of good cafes within a couple of minutes walk. Staff were very helpful.
- Louise (6/5): - Convenient for Montmartre and Moulin Rouge. Hotel is adequate, clean comfortable beds, but no other facilities. Bathrooms tiny and need updating. No lift and stairs are very steep , so not recommended for people with mobility/walking issues
- Jan (4/5): - .
- William (2/5): - This hotel was not like it advertised safe did not work no drinking water no glasses hand towels only no bath towels paint peeling from cotton walls we let after one night and I believe we should be refunded our cost for false mis represention
I would never recommend this hotel to no one
- DAVID (4/5): - Booked this cheap hotel with my son for 2 mights. Turned up and got scammed €15.60 per person x 2 nights tourist tax, which is the rate chargeable for a ‘palace’…this is no more than a 1 star so should be €1-2 rate. Left a bad taste with me. After a 40 minute phone call to Expedia (who’d quoted £12.08) I couldn’t help but be angry, but hey we’re in Paris, near Moulin Rough, montmarte, Saca Couer, so good location. Hotel is VERY basic but did the job. I just hate being scammed!
- MRS A E (6/5): Backpacker basic - Stayed 2 nights with my son as a treat before he moved away to Australia.
Room was nothing like the photos.
Very small, no kettle, laid out wrong in my opinion based on where everything was.
You could sit on the loo, shower your feet and brush your teeth all at the same time then slide the door open and you was in bed instantly
- Annick (8/5): - Rapport qualité-prix ok.
- Eduardo (2/5): - Pas professionnel!
- Gabriel (2/5): - Upon arrival, we were charged a tourist tax at the highest possible rate, rather than according to the city's official regulations (62 euros for 2 nights???).
The hotel smells of damp, with mold covering the bathroom ceiling. To make things worse, you might get stuck inside because of a sliding door that doesn’t actually slide — especially if you're alone in the room when it happens.
Beware: the hotel also charges over 30 euros if you’re unfortunate enough to check in after 10 PM.
In short: you’re better off booking a slightly more expensive hotel nearby — you’ll enjoy a far more comfortable stay, and probably for a better value overall.
- Juan (10/5): - The staff are very friendly and the place is kinda run down but very clean. The room walls are paper thin and it’s noisy all day. Not a bad place to stay for the price you’re paying. I didn’t have any issues with the bar noise.
- Emily (8/5): - Service
- Verified traveler (6/5): OK stay, but not Grand. - I felt cheated because the hotel is called a "Grand hotel". I know that accommodations in Paris tend to be of a low standard, but I have stayed in better for that price. "Grand hotel" gives the impression of a certain standard, but there was no "grand" here. When I complained about the cleaning, it was taken very seriously and fixed immediately. The beds and shower were perfectly fine, but we lacked air conditioning. The fridge and safe didn't work, but I couldn't bring myself to point that out. Daily cleaning worked fine.
- Sandra (10/5): - Very nice and such a good area!
- ? (6/5): - Ok
- Kent (2/5): - An absolutely horrible experience. The room was nothing like the pictures.
Tiny, worn down, no closet at all, no aircondition, absolutely no service at all.
Just don't...
- Jose Fernando (10/5): - Me dieron una excelente atención especialmente
- Daniel (10/5): - Nice place to stay.
- Anisa (10/5): - Everything was really nice, Late check in accommodations Right off public transport line and taxi easy to yeild: Thank you for all of your friendly advice:
- Sarah (8/5): - Let us keep luggage in foyer while we got lunch!!
- Dominique (10/5): - Parfait
- Paula (2/5): - What I liked: I received a custom postcard upon arrival.
What I did not: The room/hotel was not as fully depicted in the photos. I understand it is an historic hotel, still, repairs, stucco patchwork and mold should be attended to. I attempted to check out moments after seeing the room. None of the the amenities worked and I was assured a technician was coming to fix the TV and the fridge (which was needed for medication) would be exchanged. No one ever came. In the middle of the night my asthma flared from mold/mildew. There was also an EKG-LED patch on the wall above the bed. FROM WHO?
Upon check out the next morning, the desk clerk was very rude and refused to provide a receipt or proof that I was leaving.
It says no refunds for a reason.
A fuir .
- Ponpen (4/5): - Location is good. Hôtel is not clean as expected and limiting amenities.
- Eleftheria (4/5): - The staff was nice and the bar attached was a local watering hole and completely original. No updates.
- Floris (8/5): - Management could do a lot better. Rest of the staff is just good and really helpful.
- Vidya (10/5): - Staff were very nice and helpful!
- Keith (10/5): - It's a small family owned and managed hotel in a good location near the Pigalle Metro station, which is also not far from the major train station Gare Nord (international arrivals and train to CDG airport). It's on a quiet street. My room was above a noisy pub, but I was so tired I slept well. There are also rooms facing the back which is away from the pub and light sleepers should request one of those rooms. The staff are excellent! The son of the owners is very friendly and he helped me with my luggage. The room was large by central Paris standards and it had a lot of character which I liked. Not fancy, but the price was low for central Paris which is what I wanted. Overall the best aspects are location, great staff, low price, and spacious rooms. I was pleased and I would stay there again.
- Fortunato (2/5): - Very basic. No cups. No bath towels. Nice polite customer service friendly
- Rebecca (10/5): - great location, great service, fantastic stay!
A eviter
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotellin sijainti on hyvä. Huone oli tilava ja kylpyhuone myös. Hotellin henkilökunta on erittäin mukava.
A recommander.
Marc
- Jason (4/5): - There was no television in the room. I had no internet connection with their Wi-Fi during my entire stay. The bar was extremely loud at night and I was constantly awakened throughout the morning by this loud crowd. The room was clean but dated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had a nice stay with this hotel in Paris, it is a bit run down but the location close to Sacre Cour and the Montmarte quarters compensated for this.
- philip (8/5): Good budget option in Montmartre. - Room won't win any designer showcases but it was clean, beds were comfortable and the shower was very small like most places in Paris. There was a small table but no chairs.
Secure building with main door having code access and there was a solid good lock on the actual room door.
A good place to sleep for a night or two but the single window made it a little lacking in sunlight and cheeriness.
Located on a quiet street and despite the bar next door, the room was pretty quiet. I was in the room right next to the bar.
People at the bar were very friendly too.
- Nicole (10/5): - The location was amazing, and the staff were so kind and helpful. We loved our room - it was clean and comfortable.
- Laoise (10/5): Great stay - Perfect location, comfortable room, friendly staff. Would recommend for a trip to Paris.
- Evelyn (8/5): - Reception was very helpful and very friendly. A nice breakfast was included in the price.
- Edgar (10/5): Awesome friendly establishment. - Super friendly family feeling hotel. Locals live nearby and you will realise how friendly Parisians can be.
- Guilherme (8/5): Ótima localização, perto de 2 linhas do Metro.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall the property was nice, rooms were a little tight but the bathrooms were comfortable and modern, location was good and easy to find. Our only difficulties were that we requested 2 rooms close together, and were assured we would have this, when we checked in we found the rooms to be 2 floors apart, not close together in my book. The second issue was when we booked the hotel the indication was they accepted credit cards, when we arrived the desk clerk indicated the card reader was down and we would need to pay by cash. We do not generally carry much cash when we travel and tend to rely on being able to charge large costs like our accommodations. After insisting we would not go and get cash for the stay, the desk clerk managed to "find" a working machine to be able to use our credit card.
- JeanneL (8/5): - Excellent location, so handy to the metro. The room was lovely and updated. Comfy beds.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Value for money - It wasn't the greatest hotel I've stayed in, but it was value for money, so I've no complaints. Anything better would have been more expensive. The location is good, with a number of eateries within 5 minutes walk, and a metro station the same. It suited our purpose adequately.
- Douglas (6/5): Good "basic" hotel on street frequented by locals - This is a good basic hotel in a good location, if you are visiting Montmartre and surrounds. The hotel has two buildings, one over the bar facing the street, the other over the small reception area overlooking bar. I was in a double in front building over bar. Note there is no elevator in this building. on lower floors you will hear the bar in this building, in back building i dont think so.
The room is average size for basic hotel. The floors walls and bathroom were all updated and in very nice. My on issue with room comfort were the beds. These were terribly basic economy beds, which seemed out of place in the otherwise updated room.
On interesting note, the bar on ground floor is a vintage place frequented by Parisians mostly, and seems to have a loyal crowd of clients. It is referred to as a "'ad" bar in French and appears as it likely did in the 50s. Many clients were middle aged. These old vintage places are fewer now, and are becoming trendy as more authentic , i met a friend there for a glass of wine befire going out, and it was very enjoyable. These bars nitable also as they are considered inexpensive comparing to Paris today.
We ate at the restaurant next door called "Biche" which had excellent French dishes, and seemed akso to be full of locals. On a weekend, arrive early if you do not have a reservation.
- Gry Steen (8/5): - Fantastisk beliggenhet!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, clean room and friendly staff. A good little hotel in the heart of Montmartre
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great area, decent room - Love the area, we asked for a quiet room and got one. The room was simple but we did not have high expectations. The price was very reasonable and the staff friendly.
- EA (8/5): - Location was great in Montmartre, reasonably quiet street but near restaurants and amenities. Basic, small room, hand held shower, limited soundproofing between rooms. Very helpful staff and easy check-in.
- cathy (8/5): Museum visit to Paris - Central location. Friendly, helpful staff. Quiet at night. Hot shower. Pleasant interior, very authentic Paris. Clean room, beds and towels. Well resourced with tourist materials such as guides and maps. Reasonable rates.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Location is the only positive.
Bed sheets were dirty, fridge didnt work.
No elevator.
- Edoardo (8/5): - Adatto alla sua categoria. Posizione comoda in mezzo a montmatre.
- Jess (10/5): - Hotel de Clermont is a cute hotel in an amazing location. It’s very close to not only Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge but to many restaurants and bars and a metro stop. The staff were very friendly and efficient which we really appreciated. The receptionist was welcoming, spoke English, and made the check in process easy. He was also helpful with recommendations when we needed them and let us leave our bags behind the desk after check out because our flight didn’t leave until later in the afternoon.
The room we were in didn’t have A/C which was ok because the window could be opened but there is a bar downstairs which could be a little loud with the window open. Also, we struggled at times to get consistent wifi in our room on the top floor.
Those little things being said, we did have a great time in Paris and we would definitely stay here again next time!
- Susan (8/5): Surprisingly pleasant - On first arrival at the hotel, we were a little concerned about the area - lots of graffiti on the walls, bars, etc. But after staying there for 2 nights, we were fine with it. Just a very local area that, by the way, is near Moulin Rouge and other "clubs". The room was fine for the 3 of us. Nothing to write home about, but pleasant. The front desk clerks were very helpful. They offered to keep our bags when we checked out, and worked with us on our very late arrival.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - For the price it was a great hotel in a good location but very small for North American standards.
- Jonathan (10/5): Tip top. - Great little place, very friendly and an amazing area.
Hotel calme, personnel accueillant.
- bogdan (10/5): Excited for the service and location - Is very good located, clean and friendly stuff . From the hotel is easy to take the metro to all places and have nice restaurants around. Thank you
- Novice Travelle (8/5): Quaint yet lovely hotel reminiscent of retro Paris - Quaint hotel, perfect for persons who will be spending much time outdoors as basic amenities are provided. For the siteseers and tourists, hotel close to major tourist attraction of Moulin Rouge and tourist town of Montmartre; sightseeing, eating, entertainment, shopping from walking distance of hotel. Superb place with friendly staff
- alan (2/5): negative negative - The front desk guy was so rude to my family. lucky I only stay for 1 night.
- Linda (8/5): Hotel is an easy walk from the metro station - This hotel has no lift & access to the rooms is by a very narrow, very steep spiral staircase.
The room was clean and recently painted, the on suite was beautiful & very new, so new it was not quite finished but still worked as intended.
Unfortunately the fitted sheets were too small for the mattress and kept coming off, some had holes in them.
There were a lot of places to eat and drink within walking distance.
Metro is the best way to get around.
Best to buy a 10 pack of tickets, much cheaper than buying new every day.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Nice location. Quiet place.
Wifi signal very weak in the room I stayed. The bed sheet is quite low quality. The floor is a bit dirty.
- Zoe (8/5): - Super cute-great price but noisy from the bar downstairs......
- Natalie Elizabeth (10/5): Affordable hotel that is close to main attractions - This hotel isn't for the people that are use to staying in nice hotels. This hotel has more of a hostel vibe to it. If you read through all the other reviews, you will know exactly what you are getting out of this experience. They provided new towels everyday and cleaned up your room. The metro station was 5-10 min walking distance which is very convenient. There's also an abundant of restaurants around the area as well. Overall good experience and very affordable.
