- Jennifer (6/5): The Inn has masses of potential but sadly it isn’t really ready for guests in our opinion . The hostess is great and I - The hostess Kat was very pleasant and did her best . Location ok Needs a lot of TLC .
Shabby I’m sad to say.
The room was too small to have a double bed and a single bed that had a pull out bed below . Would be much better with just the double with maybe a bed settee. Just too small for the beds .
The ceiling was in a poor state. Not been repaired properly and the inside of the door and the bathroom wall had badly scratched and missing paint.
No hot water from the bathroom sink on one of the days .
The bar area needs to be cleared of empty boxes and the end of the bar where there is a curtain needs to be cleared .
- Anthony (1/5): Nightmare - Did not stay as there as it looked like a derelict building and the car park was full of potholes the was furniture all over the car park and to enter the building, you have to use the fire exit worst place or stayed in in the 20 years of using Booking.com had to find somewhere else to stay as not fit to sleeping sorry I’ve gotta put this comment on but it’s true and the first time I’ve ever had to write anything like this😞😞😞😖 As above worst place I’ve came across to be classed as accommodation should not be even on any letting sites as the ratings are not right

- Jane (10/5): Friendly cosy organised lovely food - Well located and WARM
- Mark (10/5): - Really friendly lovely staff, super easy check in and out, great location.
- Andy (9/5): Dog break - The host kat was really welcoming and friendly the room was great very comfortable bed and very quiet considering its on a main road and great with our dog amazing field to walk dog she loved it Don't think there was anything we didn't like
- Dillon (1/5): -
- Carolyn (6/5): - Convenient location Disappointed that a few days before we stayed we were informed that the pub and restaurant would be closed during our stay! If we had known this beforehand we would not have booked as after working all day, we wanted to be able to get something to eat and drink without having to go looking for somewhere that was serving food. As the pub was locked, we had to enter our room via a fire escape and whilst we were aware of two other rooms being occupied on the first night, we believe we were the only people staying on the second night! Not ideal.
Room was adequate with all the usual facilities available...en suite bathroom, tea/coffee making facilities, comfortable bed, etc.
- Heather (6/5): - Close to where we wanted to be Pub was shut completely. We where told before that food would not be available but not about the complete closure. Only saw a member of staff because there was a problem with the heating.
Definitely needs redecorating. And some new bedding. They also need to look into the ladybirds that we had to keep putting out of the window.
- Daniel (7/5): - Land lady was very nice and breakfast was lovely
- Richard (9/5): Very nice stop over again many thanks Kat - Stoped here a few times now fantastic value great host N/A
- Carl (9/5): Room 4 - Lovely warm and friendly welcome from Kat..Clean room, tasty breakfast.
...Location good for our needs at Shepton.
Good price/ value. Only minor, but some noise from the traffic on the road...some minor noise from the next room's guest.
- Walton (7/5): Very comfortable room, though bar was not as sociable a type as I'd have preferred. - Location where I hoped, room was very nice. Took a while to get hot water, especially in shower Would have preferred more extensive bar, and more varied menu, food was all deep fried.
- Claire (5/5): Needs an update, clean and better food - Location was great Breakfast was inedible, extremely dry and tasteless
- Vrijelinck (10/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): Absolutely recommend - Very clean, warm, lovely shower, good bed, and good coffee available as well. Well equipped, in a quiet location but close enough to Glastonbury and all the other surrounding landmarks. Very affordable and the host was amazing.
- Ben (8/5): Comfortable & quiet room, lovely proprietor - The location was great, with views across the plain. Ample parking, comfortable bed, good shower in the en suite. Also compared to some of the older reviews, I saw no evidence of mould or decaying decor etc. I could have used another plug socket for the nightstand, but it's an old building.
- Frederick (10/5): -
- Jane (9/5): Very friendly and comfortable. Would stay again. - Delicious breakfast could not fault it. Very well located. The shower was either cold or very hot. Did not maintain constant temperature.
- Massimo (8/5): - Kat was amazing!
- Claire (7/5): - Kat was really welcoming, good easy pub food and comfy room.
- Caroline (3/5): Cheap and basic - The room was warm Very basic. No milk. Keys worked with difficulty. The finish on the walls was rough and ready. The outside of the hotel had old chairs and seating just lying around. Shower nearly impossible to balance. Hot tap in sink not really hot.
- Chappell (8/5): Comfortable nights sleep - Comfortable bed,, room clean, good shower and toiletries, welcoming staff Restaurant closed early, tv remote not working, extractor fan loud.
- Richard (9/5): Just keeps getting better - Third stay here and very pleased N/A
- maya (9/5): -
- Hendley (8/5): Very nice - The staff were excellent A bit dated, but they are decorating.
- Anita (9/5): - Friendly, clean and comfortable Nothing really
- norma (9/5): Would stay again - Bed comfy room nice Kat was really nice
- jane (8/5): - Updated, comfortable room
- Thomas (8/5): - The inn was comfortable and fairly quiet. Everything worked, and the beds were super comfy. Was able to walk along a public footpath straight from the inn for a morning wall. Staff couldn't be more accommodating. Wonderful view from the room. It didn't bother me, but it is close to a main road, which may cause some people to struggle to sleep.
- Russel (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable - very accomodating owner No negatives
- Edward (9/5): - Kat the landlady, so helpful and kind.
- Sharon (7/5): -

- Heather (9/5): Very welcoming - Lovely room, really comfortable. Kat fantastic , very welcoming, nothing too much trouble, Lovely breakfast using locally sourced foods. Some essential work was being carried out at the time of my stay, but this didn't impact my experience at all
- Ying (10/5): We had a very pleasant stay. - Kat was super friendly and helpful.
- Susan 278 (9/5): Great location, staff and food - The hotel is perfectly located for the Royal Bath and West Showground and the staff were excellent. I liked the little touches like large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and handwash rather than the usual small ones. It was great to be able to have dinner in the hotel but with a nice quiet atmosphere My only negative was that I had very noisy people in the next room, who got back at 11.30pm and proceeded to talk loudly and bang and crash around in their room for at least 30 minutes, but that was not the fault of the hotel. Therefore the soundproofing between rooms is not great but I am a very light sleeper

- James (9/5): Fantastic little venue - Very comfortable. Kat was super friendly on arrival. Perfect for my stay
- Nicky (9/5): -
- Matt (10/5): Lovely inn. Beautiful location - Really friendly host. Very comfortable room. Would stay again.
- Matt (10/5): Lovely pub in great location. - Great stay. Friendly and welcoming staff. Comfortable bed and good showers. The pub food and attmosphere are very good. Would stay again.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Matt (10/5): Beautiful area to stay and lovely host - Kat is a very friendly host. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Plenty of free parking too. Lovely views and a very quiet, peacful place to be.
- Derek (9/5): -
- Keith (9/5): Good value for money - Good value for money and friendly helpful staff Out of town ,but with a car not really a problem
- Donna (7/5): Comfortable. - The location was perfect just a few minutes from the Bath & West Showground. I had a warm welcome from the owner. The room was clean and comfortable. The owner has not long had the business and has ideas for the future. A lovely family-run business.
- Bella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (8/5): Thank you Kat 😊 - The host Kat was lovely and very accommodating. It was a lovely stay. She made the stay very nice, lovely lady. Would return. Food was good but the menu was very limited. Could benefit from easy light lunch options eg sandwiches, toastiest with a small side eg side salad, couple of chips as a lighter option etc
- Mark (8/5): Clean, comfortable and welcoming. - Location was very convenient for diving at Vobster. Room was clean and comfortable. And Kat was very welcoming and helpful. limited range of food options, particularly healthy options, for dinner. Mostly frozen stuff, but as we were almost the only people there I guess that this is understandable. Sadly I had to get up too early to have their breakfasts which I understand is very good.
- Lees (8/5): Very good -
- Travis (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely time, Kat is a great host.
- Topodzi (7/5): Good -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Having seen some mixed reviews, we were delighted to find the property completely clean, very comfortable and tremendously welcoming. Although rustic and not a ‘luxury’ spot, all
The facilities were lovely in a rural way, the views were excellent and the owners/hosts made sure we were comfortable. Contrary to some reviews there was a fully working draught bar, and a small but homely menu being served (not just fish). Would recommend!
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Kat was an amazing host, we had booked to go to the Bath & West showground in walking distance, but unfortunately they had changed the entrance, so Kat kindly offered to drop us there , she also rang later in the evening to ask if we would like to be collected. This was a massive help as would of took ages to walk there & back. She's a very kind lady, we did not have breakfast as already had a lunch booked but we will say it smelt delicious. Room was lovely & clean with tea coffee fresh milk etc. Will def return, thank you Sarah & Dave
- Carola (10/5): Exceptional - It was a lovely stay at the Prestleigh Inn the owner is so nice and caring… ideal to go to glastonbury by car
- David (7/5): A most enjoyable experience - Nice bathroom Not much
- Andy (7/5): Fine for a short stay but improvements are needed. As the owners have only been there 6 months or so, I am sure that gi - The owner, Kat, was a lovely host and provided everything all by herself. She gave us small jugs of milk and a bowl of sugar for the room to make tea and coffee. We stayed here overnight as we were attending a funeral the next day and she kindly extended the checkout for another hour so we could get ready after breakfast then head out. We were in a room beside a very busy main road and with the heat we had to open the windows. Didn’t sleep much due to the noise of the traffic.
The room was small but ok but the bathroom was tiny. Unfortunately we had no hot water in the morning and the plug was broken. Easy fixes though. There was a lack of plug sockets and the wall lights by the bed did not work.
Dinner was good and reasonable although the menu is limited. By comparison breakfast almost cost as much even though we had a few drinks.
It was fresh and tasty but perhaps the £12 cost could include tea/coffee as paying for these made the bill £30
- Melissa (9/5): Nice and co - Really
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely comfortable room with great in room facilities, friendly and welcoming host Kat worked tirelessly to provide drinks from the bar, a fab breakfast and lots of tips on how to get around. Wonder view over the Dale at the back behind the ample parking. Nothing.
- Jules (2/5): Hate to say but ....truly not a good experience! - The landlady was welcoming & the toilet paper was good quality! Where do I start? On arrival we discovered we'd picked a pub with no draught beer, no rose wine, no spirits. We were told the menu consisted of fish & chips, scampi & chips, hot dog or noodles! Hmm? Were adults who like proper food not processed burger van options. Settled for the option of a few cans before being shown our room....big mistake....we were then trapped until safe to drive.
The room reminded me of student lodgings but we thought we'd give it a go as we'd already paid & we had not budgeted to outlay again.
Started with a shower only to discover the water in the footwell was rising to the door, I had to pull out the drainage trap & make a suction motion with my palm to eventually release the blockage, whatever this was it filled the room with a bad drain smell for hours. Broken door hangings, why bother leaving that in the room?
Shampoo provided, yet towels did not smell laundered, why not instead purchase laundry conditioner?
On inspecting the double bed (2 singles pushed together) we found that the bed on the left dipped severely, so pulled the mattress up & saw it was all broken and inturn i then got to see the holey stained mattress with no protectors! The polyester (eugh!) covers were stained too & the pillows had the thickness of a tea bag!
By now I was distraught, so we went in search for management to relay our utter disappointment but to no avail, it was now 8.40pm & the whole pub, back & front was locked up with no one to be seen!
We were left with no choice but to try get a couple of hours sleep on the pull out kids single bed. Not a great option for a couple of 60yr olds!
We left at first light, leaving the key in the door & booked into a travellodge!
I then discovered previous reviews stating some of my concerns too, so obviously lessons are not being learnt. The reviews I'd read prior to booking are completely fictitious, this place needs some serious money spent on it!
- Vivien (7/5): Good -
- Bridget (1/5): Fifteen minutes here was too long - Absolutely nothing. Unless you count the view from the car park. It smelt of fish as soon as we walked into the bar and that permeated through to upstairs. The room had twin beds but confirmation said double, it also said view but all we got were dirty roofs. There was no wardrobe or anywhere to put bags except on the floor. The bedding was dark coloured flowers which looked and felt 40 years old. We left after 15 minutes and my clothes and hair still smelt of fish two hours later. I cannot understand the good reviews as this place is terrible. I’m sorry I didn’t take pictures but honestly if we’d had a cat it could not have been swung in that room.
- Frances (8/5): A comfortable place to lay your head - Warm welcome from Kat
Comfortable bed and good sleep
Hot water and everything clean
Fresh milk for tea tray
Easy secure parking
Bar available
Outstanding views Tv was temperamental but we did not ask for help to fix as too tired!
Limited menu
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic place Kat could do enough to help
- Katie (7/5): Good value for money as our room had everything we needed in it including a hairdryer - The breakfast was good .it was high quality local produced food .sausage and bacon especially good.
- Louise (8/5): Great - Close to Showground, Kat was friendly & helpful, room was mostly great (see below), very clean Mattress wasn’t very comfortable
- Jackie (9/5): A good getaway in Shepton Mallet - Ideal location for visiting the area. Lots of beautiful views from the property itself. Lots of parking space. The owners have done a brilliant job of making visitors welcome and their enthusiasm shows this in their progress to invest proudly in the inn The smokers /vapours shed. Just the furniture. The building itself is perfect for viewing over landscape.
- Alli (8/5): Prestleigh Inn - Such friendly staff. Great communication. Fabulous location for Bath & West, literally next door! All good.
- Carole (7/5): Nice clean room and comfy bed. Owner was lovely and very helpful. - Stayed overnight on our way to early morning flight out of Bristol Airport.
Fairly new business and lovely owner trying to build up clientele. Choice of dinner limited but food was cooked to order albeit mine was a little dry that may have been my choice of dinner.
- Lukasz (10/5): Lukasz - Very nice old style hotel Very nice and clean approach
- Agnieszka (8/5): Very good - Amazing locations, country side is buetyfull.
There is plenty to see near bay.
Food and service 5 star . The room was very small for this price , claustrophobic.
I heft window ope for all nights prevent from panic attacks.
Otherwise everything was good.
Recommend for sure .
- Richard (9/5): Everything was spot on was our second stay there and will be back - Everything like home from home N/A
- Bagnall (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (8/5): Value for money, excellent stay - Host was very helpful and could not of done anymore during our stay. We had fish and chips in the evening and the portion size was huge that I couldn't eat all of it although my husband did. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Free WiFi. Large carpark. Had a comfortable stay and would definately stay here again. Cannot comment on the breakfast as we had to leave early the following morning. Nothing I didnt like but if I had to give a negative, perhaps leave a kettle and tea and coffee in the room instead of asking if we needed/wanted one.
- Rebecca (7/5): Good -
- John (9/5): An excellent Hotel - Superb in all respects. Kat was very helpful on arrival, the food was good value with a decent sized portion and the room was spotless. Nothing!
- Cathy (7/5): The inn at clean and comfortable basic but meets needs. Good value - The landlady of the inn was lovely. Couldn’t do enough for us.
Location for the show grounds was so close less than 2 minutes drive.
- Susan (4/5): Lovely staff view perfect but badly needs updating - Staff were lovely, food very good but very dated, no hot water shower/ toilet very small I think maybe adapted from a cupboard.
Feel bad giving this review as staff so nice and doing their absolute best. See above
- Andrew (7/5): Good location for my Trip, disappointed with the Menu and the Mattress, Pillows, Quilt Covers-Sheets - Left at 7.20 so unable to comment on the included Breakfast. Did not connect to the free Wi-Fi so unable to comment. Bedroom very disappointing. The Mattress needs to be replaced ... Sit on the Bed and you can feel the Base, the Springs are very weak and had a bad night tossing and turning, could not get comfortable.. Quilt Cover and sheets had a dark pattern usually there is crisp White Sheets and Duvet Cover. Pillows also need replacing (NOT for Sponge)
very thin with no body. Only a little Shower Gel in Shower.
Limited Menu for Evening ... Cod or Haddock & Chips and one other dish! Some simple home cooking would have been good.
- Rhiannon (10/5): Exceptional - The room was very clean, staff were friendly and so peaceful at night to sleep. Lovely sleep and stay! Nothing!
- Clifford (8/5): Pleasure -
- Julie (10/5): Suited me perfectly - Greeted by very helpful and welcoming landlady who showed me to my very comfortable room. Delicious breakfast, especially the sausages and bacon. Located near to Shepton Mallet hospital.
- Dudman (10/5): Exceptional - I was only there for one Night,on arrival I was met by Kat, very cheerful and helpful, she was so pleasant, after showing me me room and all the facilities,I back down to the reception area for a very refreshing Drink, with Kat helping with information regal the area.
A little later that evening I had a lovely meal of Fish/Chip and peas.which very tastful I must say..
In the morning after a very lovely hot Shower to freshen up!!I then met up with Kat again in the Lounge to which I ordered a fresh orange juice, which she personally made in pint glass, and I must say it was delicious indeed, then followed with a full English Breakfast, which also was to delicious also!!what a great start for the day ahead..Only one last thing to say,and that I very will be coming back when down that way..(can't wait to another one of those breakfast -))) Thanks to you All.Tony. A silly thing I know!!!But the bottom step when going into the Bar on my arrival!!!l
I completely missed, although I did read the sign before opening the Door -))) I was carrying to much baggage-)))
