- Malcolm (8/5): - The Guesthouse is in a lovely old neighbourhood about a 20 minute walk from the Inner Harbour. Craigdarroch Castle is next door and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is close by. The decor is traditional and you can pay $10 for a traditional egg and bacon breakfast with a warm croissant and jam. There is also a guests' kitchen where you refrigerate or store food.

The building is in excellent historical condition & it was nice to be situated directly across from the castle. Rooms are a tad small, but clean & well kept. There is no A/C or elevators. Staff are friendly & accommodating. We enjoyed the $10 breakfast along with complimentary coffee & tea. The common areas of kitchen, living & dining room are cozy, well kept & inviting. Kitchen area is convenient for preparing your own meals & snacks. Location of Craigmyle is a 20-30 min walk into the downtown area with shops & restaurants along the way (Fort St), bus stop nearby.

- Carolyn (2/5): - We were very disappointed with our room at the Craigmyle. I booked two rooms, one for myself and my husband and one for our cousin and her husband (room #103 and104). We paid the same amount for both rooms yet our bathroom was ridiculously smaller. There was absolutely no room for toiletries, a stand up shower only, and the sink was so small. Our relatives had a much bigger bathroom with a tub and space for their toiletries.I don’t understand why both rooms cost the same. Very disappointing. I will never book here again.

Also minimal bathroom countertop space and limited space to put luggage in room. Parking was available, however we did have to park down at the end of the block and around the corner at times, but very doable. The staff was very friendly & accommodating and rooms/property were clean and inviting. It was actually kinda nice to be staying in a residential neighborhood (with a beautiful big castle literally in the backyard).

- Violent (10/5): - This guest house looks nice on the outside but absolutely lovely inside! We loved our suite looking out at the castle which is right beside the property. The bed was fantastic with tons of pillows. A comfy couch was great for reading and the room made you feel like you were staying in the home of a wealthy aunt, not a hotel. You’re in a quiet neighborhood with other lovely houses. I’ve stayed at the Empress but this will be my first pick for my next trip to Victoria. The value is much better with more room for the money.

It had character and historic charm our room had a view of the castle and I felt like I was in a fairytale. The staff was lovely and we got to meet the owner Stephen m! who is wonderful and answers any questions and helps you with anything you need. They have a lovely little breakfast for $10 and make sure that you carve out some time to tour the castle next-door! Cannot wait to return, wonderful stay

- Stacy (10/5): - This place is really cute. It is literally in front of the Craigdarroch Castle. This isn't really a hotel, more like a B and B. It has a kitchen you can cook in and washer and dryer you can use from 5-8. There is a lovely sitting room on the first floor. My room looked recently renovated and very comfy. It does have a lot of stairs, so beware if that's an issue for you.

- Valerie (4/5): - I don’t usually complain, but I Was not impressed that I had to park three blocks away to stay here, the ad said parking onsite and on street. It did not mention that people had to compete with residents for a parking spot! Could not even bring my luggage because it was far away and I couldn’t carry it that far. Then we get there and my room is up two flights of stairs, which for someone with muscle issues wasn’t great. I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and was greeted by a big spider walking across my foot. The bathroom floor was dirty. The internet didn’t work which was not convenient at all as there was no tv in our room either. The place was nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable but the lack of parking on site and stairs were very inconvenient.

- Ganna (10/5): - Quiet inside and also a quite neighbourhood. However, there are a lot of stairs in the house and the sound of frequent walking up/down the stairs by other guests may be a bit annoying and bothersome. I personally got used to it fairly quickly and was able to tune it out. The guest kitchen was a significant benefit, and especially access to a kettle, fridge, potable water, and cutlery. The staff were responsive and attentive to my requests and questions.

The kitchen had shared space for guests to cook meals and store food in the fridge/freezer. There is a beautiful siting area in the lobby. The room we were in had a thick piece of foam on top of the mattress. It was super uncomfortable and we rolled to the middle of the bed. I was quite disappointed in the quality of the mattress.
- Isabella (6/5): - This is not the mansion in the picture. It is the home at the bottom of the picture. Very very thin walls. No amenities in the bdrm like no tv. Everything is in the common areas. You are sleeping in a standard bdrm with a tiny bthrm. There is no Continental breakfast. You have to pay $10 for a standard. Whatever they're feeding you breakfast. Bedroom was pretty.
- Melody (10/5): Check the Amenities - Great place to stay. Just know there are no televisions in the rooms so plan on bringing your own entertainment if that's important to you. Additionally, the kitchenette was only a microwave, sink, and fridge so be sure you understand what you're getting if you select that room.

- Michele (10/5): - Beautiful restored old rooming house overlooking the castle. Decor suited the time period. We walked to a few different places within about 10 minutes and felt safe. Nice little chapel around the corner for church-goers. Could have used easier access to plugs in the room. Noted that there doesn't seem to be air conditioning if you are coming in summer months, but window does open for a breeze. Nice access to a kitchen for diy meals - breakfast included didn't look too appetizing, so we went out - plenty of good restaurants nearby. There are stairs up to the door and inside, but don't let it scare you, I managed fine walking with a cane.

- Hai (10/5): - What a beautiful experience! The place was so unique in many ways. The environment was so quiet and we felt like at home. My wife sat at a corner of the dining room and enjoyed the quietness with a cup of tea, listened to the music and looked out of the window: a lot of green! It seemed like every corner of the place was decorated in details with harmony, the flowers, the light, the furniture… You should be aware that there is no elevator so it might be a little challenge to carry your luggages upstairs but the staff are ready to help if they are available. We would definitely come back to the Craigmyle if we have a chance and would recommend to friends.

Only thing I'd say is you may have to park a bit farther from the inn because it's street parking so space is limited, but it's less than a 3 min walk even if you end up with a farther spot, so it wouldn't deter us from staying here again! Would return!

We loved the fact you could use the hotel kitchen to make a snack or hot tea at night. The coffee in the morning available in the living room was a nice treat to start our morning. The added bonus of breakfast if we wanted for only $10 was a nice option. Overall definitely will stay again for our next visit to Victoria.

Our bathroom was very small with no counter space. The shower was very awkward. Had very little room to turn around and couldn’t bend down. There is no host at night which I found strange but it turned out ok. There is someone there during the day. There is fresh coffee available in the morning. You can have breakfast for additional charge. Had a nice stay overall.
- Emma (10/5): - Lovely and we felt so lucky to have the Craigdarroch room!
- Langdon (6/5): - they warn you about steps and they have a LOT of them. we are seniors with bad knees and it was painful. Room was small, no tv or refrigerator and lots of steps to get to a refer.
- Gordon (4/5): - No parking period unless you want to walk 2 blocks with your stuff, they want you to leave your shoes at the door but provide inadequate shoe racks, the room is very small and bears little resemblance to the pictures on the web, somewhat disappointed. Oh by the way believe them about the stairs, lots and lots of them.
- Klarissa (10/5): - As person that adores older architecture… this place was perfect. And the views of the castle behind you while you have tea/coffee and breakfast… speechless. The staff are very helpful, kind and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this place. I will be back. The only downside is the walk downtown is 35mins. Beautiful walk though!
