RaymondTan1014 (10/5): Fantastic hotel fantastic staff - This Shangri-La is one of my personal favourite, alot of changed but 2 things remains constant is how well and immaculate that the hotel has been maintained and also how the staff are still as outstanding in my memory from 6 years ago. Lynn's team at the Horizon lounge has been brilliant. Cynthia Zeng (a familiar face), Foster Tan, Dania Sun, Elvis Chen and Kitty Wei impressed me very much despite their young age and I enjoyed the stay immensely. Food prepared by Zhang Dan and Yang Shi Tong were so good that it's definitely one of the best spreads for breakfast and Happy Hour. Thank you Shangri-La Shenyang! I look forward to my next visit.

paulcZ7820NW (10/5): Excellent family stay - I stayed five days at this hotel while on holiday in China with my family. It’s in a great location right in central Shenyang, very close to lots of fantastic shopping and sightseeing options, as well as the subway. We hardly bothered with the subway though because most places we wanted to visit seemed to be only 5-15 mins from the hotel via DiDi. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, without exception, and in particular I would like to call out Tony on bags and front door, and the very graceful Yulia with guest services for going above and beyond many times during our stay to ensure our family enjoyed our time in Shenyang as much as possible.

Spacious rooms/baathrooms, friendly staff and an awesome breakfast buffet. Carpet in hotel room is not the best choice with regards to hygiene. But its the standard in China, so one has to live with it.

MJellick (8/5): Great, All-Around - My second time in Shenyang, but my first time staying at the Shangri-La Hotel. For me, it checked off all the boxes, including location, pool, and attentiveness to details. The pool was open from early (6:00am) to late (11:00pm) and was clean and comfortable. The location was walking distance for everything I needed (including to a hospital for the never-ending virus tests). Finally, the attention to detail was evident everywhere with a friendly and efficient staff. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Shenyang. You can't go wrong, and as an added bonus is the little park next door, a bit of authenticity in what can sometimes be an inauthentic environment.

Man, you’ve got to go to the lounge, you’d be amazed by the impeccable service there. Only thing is that facilitates could be a little dated, in need of renovations!

722dannib (10/5): Impressive to say the least - We stayed at the Shangri-La during our trip to Shenyang. The facilities are clean and the room was large. Bedding and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel provided us with endless supply of bottled water each day. What set this hotel apart from the rest is their outstanding selection of buffet breakfast. They had everything! The staff were extremely friendly and remembered our orders from the previous days. They would bring out what we had ordered without asking each morning which isn’t seen anywhere else. Bertha was very professional and warm. We enjoyed morning breakfast each day. Overall, can’t fault this place and the buffet breakfast is a treat. Highly recommend.

I can see that the brand treats me well and genuinely treasure my business too. Because of my work, I travel every now and then to major Asian cities and actually spend a fair amount of time in China. The Shangri-la brand has a strong presence in many of the cities which I visit, and that's proven to be a true pleasure for me in my travels. Many people ask me why I like the Shangri-la brand so much, to me, it's the many amenities which I'd come to expect of their hotels, and the touches of luxury and the high level of cleanliness and when things go wrong, their effort and the length they go to to put them right. The Shangri-la loyalty programme, Golden Circle must have records of my quirks, preferences etc and every Shangri-la I visit understands me as if I am a return guest. Thank you for making these efforts, and know that they're all appreciated. For this short stay at Shenyang's Shangri-la, I want to thank the staff who went the extra length to help me with my stay, including the most wonderful concierge staff who helped me collate my parcels well before I arrived, Betty from guest relations who was so attentive and caring, the staff at the Horizon Lounge, Kate, Chandler, Crystal and one more of the ladies whom I did not catch her name. All of you are so great and please keep it up! If I return to Shenyang again, I'd choose to stay here again for sure.

Notnowcato07 (2/5): The worst hotel experience of my life - The worst check in experience from a hotel in my life. I booked through Trivago and arrived at the hotel for check in to be told that there was no reservation for me. I was then instructed to call my reservation agency which I did as the hotel was unable to make international calls. While I was calling my agent I could hear the check in staff suggesting the price was too cheap and they didn't want to give me a room for the booking price. After calling the agent and them confirming I had a booking they wanted to speak to check in staff member Kelly who had already been very abrupt to say the least. She was no longer available and so another check in member spoke to the agency but then the international call was cut off. Despite having a reservation confirmation the hotel still refused to give me a room and then suggested I make a new reservation with them at a different price. Kelly also suggested I refund my existing booking...which of course I can not do as it is the same day as the booking so the booking had already started! I sense the hotel did not want to help at all. I had to do all the international calls myself and at my own expense, even calling up the corporate booking agency that Trivago uses called hotel beds.com. Meanwhile what did the hotel do to locate my booking....nothing! I sense if you are a contractor for one of the German automotive firms or a Chinese guest then they are happy to look after you. As a foreign guest I was left to wait in the lobby for 2 hours before abandoning the hotel to carry out work commitments. Now at 21:00 Chinese time I called the hotel to see what progress had been made in locating my booking and was told by the receptionist that they would contact reservations and call me back immediately. Half an hour has since passed and no call back. So I then called the hotel back directly and they said they have spoken to my travel agency and the agency do not have a booking. This is blatantly a lie as during that time I called the agency again and they confirmed they have the booking.

Lee (6/5): Staffs need to be more coordinated - Bad coordination by the staffs. I was asked to upgrade to club status with full access to lounge and breakfast even though they do not have the executive club room. I accepted knowing the fact I will still be staying in a normal room. Every morning when I walked into the cafe for breakfast, they asked for my room number, and each time, they said I am not entitled to breakfast. This happened every morning during my stay. Treatment towards my relatives staying at the club room was also very bad at the club lounge. They showed the unwillingness to serve. Very bad for Shangrila standard. They do need serious hospitality training.

I stayed in a club room and was treated in an outstanding manner by all the staff I came in contact with, including the front desk, concierge, and Horizon Club. Couldn't ask for more. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone who travels to Shenyang.

Verified traveler (8/5): Family trip for Chinese New Year - We went during Chinese New Year. The checkin went great and the concierge was really helpful. However, we went to use the swimming pool in the night and the service in the lady's were nothing like a 4.5 star hotel. We asked where the shampoo and soap were and the staff pour some liquid in a disposable droning cup to us... Also force us out 10 mins before it is closed saying she had to catch a bus... We also wanted to use the bathroom in 2nd floor when wondering around and it seems it was closed with no sign. The hotel room was not spacious but big enough to move around in. It is in the center of the city. A couple of big shopping malls nearby.

GM (10/5): Shiny new centrally located hotel w park views - Great value and very nice experience. the entire urban area surrounding the hotel has been redeveloped and it's a great central location. Expedia room rate was very high value for the money. We got room 1911 which overlooks the city park and has great night views of the Shenyang needle tower and new buildings across the river/lake. Higher floors are definitely better at this location because of views. Staff was very accommodating, bilingual and sought to please. Western newspapers available at happy hour on top floor. Room was sleek and modern, fully equpped. Huge new shopping center acroos the street has excellent restaurants. Room service menu included Western entrees to complement chinese; my beef burger was perfectly prepared. I will always consider this my first option when returning to Shenyang, especially if Expedia continues to get such attractive room rates.
